"He just looked like Coven! His human form... it... looked like him." he said. "We can't just leave her... he... he will do horrible things to her... I... I can't..." Markus' senses started to come back to him. He also remembered that he couldn't tell Lith or Daniel what Mera told him... how Coven had been the one who changed her. "I... just don't know what to do..." Markus said.

Lith stopped at turned to Doc "Markus... You know I want her back here just as much as you do but trust me... He won't hurt her. He left you and the pack in good condition." she said "We need you to tell us everything you know about her" she said. "Breathe and think back to what happened" she said putting her hands on his cheeks.

Mera was confused seeing the face in better light "Ezio? Ezio Auditore?" she said as her jaw dropped. Ezio was her husbands brother who lived in Italia for some time, he dropped by once every year then they heard no more of him. "What happened to you... We lost contact... How are you still young?" she asked "Your not a shifter are you?" He untied her and smiled a little. "I have a lot to say to you also."

"I... I can't... I... I promised her..." he said. Daniel came up to him. "Damn it Markus... I know you care about her... but you need to realise how important this is... we don't know much about her..." he said. "You do... we can find out... and if it was Coven... why would he only take her." he said. Markus started thinking... maybe it was the shock thinking it was Coven.. maybe it was his imagination... but... they would need to know... he started telling them everything... how she was turned by Coven... how she was kept... everything.

Mera took Ezio into her arms.
"I'm an Assassin now..." he said. "I've been brought to these shores once again but with a task at hand... A man named Clemenso has poisoned the place we once called home. I was sent to hunt him down and kill him. At first I thought your ship was one of his then I realized the men on there were shifters. I haven't seen one in human form for years... I thought I would have a look so I worked my magic and found you..." She tried to take in what he said. "But why take me?" she asked "You didn't need to use force... I want to go back Ezio." she said
"Not yet. After the war they came... Clemenso took the island and his mean killed those who wouldn't fight in the war..." he looked down holding back tears "This one... It's personal...." he said putting a hand on her shoulder "I'm.... I'm sorry."

Markus finished telling them about everything... "That's it... she... was changed by him, and forced to live... like that... like an animal... I'm so sorry... I said I wouldn't tell... she didn't want me to." he said. Daniel patted him on the shoulder. Markus looked up to Lith. "What should we do?" he asked. "Should... we go after her?" Daniel looked to her, seeing her responce, he wanted to go and find her, to get Mera back... but he needed her blessing.

Mera knew now what he meant, her husband was dead. She left out a howl of pain as Ezio put his arms around her. "shh... it's ok. I'll take you back to your pack" he hesitated on the last word. "But mind if I stay for a bit? I know how to catch Clemenso."

It was within a matter of hours before Mera could see the boat again. Once their small boat pulled up to the shore she ran fast back to the ship with Ezio walking slowly behind her.

As Daniel was looking to Lith, he caught a glimpse of someone walking towards them... life on this island? He seen who it was. He wasn't sure whether to be happy or worried... who was with her? Did he mean harm? Daniel looked to Markus. "Doc, I wouldn't start a search party just yet. Doc turned around and seen her. He stood up and started moving towards her, hoping it was truly Mera and not another trick of the island.

She ran fast towards them with a smile on her face, she had been gone a few hours but still it felt longer. Her dark red hair waved behind her in thick bands. She ran up the loading ramp and onto the boat. She walked to Markus and placed her hands on his forearms and smiled glad to see him without harm. She turned slightly to look at Daniel. "I know why there people aren't here... I think I know where they are" she said.

Markus stood up, looking back at her, feeling her hands on him. He was overjoyed to see her perfectly fine... nothing wrong with her. He put his arms around her, hugging her tightly. "I was so worried..." he said. Daniel listened to her. "What do you mean?" he asked. "Where are they? What happened here?" he asked.

She held Markus tight taking in his smell and warmth. "I was too" she whispered. "This is Ezio" she said turning to the man behind her. "He's my brother.... in a way" she said looking down. "He's one of the lucky ones." She said.

Ezio was a little uneasy in the house of wolves but seemed to be ok. "A man named Clemenso started the war back in the forth moon. He took the men from this town. My brother. Mera's husband and more. They fought in a battle against immortals. Wolves and such. The men in return for their lives offered their son's loyalty. They were to give up the eldest sons for fifteen years, to avoid this fate they left but Clemenso caught on to them and hunted them down. He took them prisoner but the ones that got away hide in the mainland." He looked down "Clemenso still has them. On an island not far from here, guarded by your kind but the ones who lost themselves. Some of the one's who got away are now assassins and they have gathered to take Clemenso down and return the people."

((Sorry it has been a while since I posted, I moved into college and was settling in. That and I have two sites that I go to on a regular basis my site and this site, so a choice had to be made, sorry. I should be back now for a bit))

Daniel listened, angered... it was like what had happened with the vampyres, a time that now seemed so far off. He looked down and felt a burning. This was his home... now defiled by this man... Clemenso. "We... have to help them..." he said.

Markus held her tight now. Not caring too much about much else other than her safety. ""I... am sorry I couldn't protect you... but at least it was not someone who meant you harm." he said

"We have sent men to the mainland to return those there, can we put them under your protection? in return they will not harm you and your pack can live here safely" Ezio said. "Then we will send a part out to the island to fight Clemenso and return the people there".

She looked at Markus "Don't be sorry. We are lucky indeed. Ezio will lead the attack and I plan to follow" she said to no one in particular.

"You... are serious?" he asked. Daniel knew that... even if they say that they would have protection... it was possible for the fights to break out... intolerance... But... of the wolves helped to protect them... maybe... they could live in peace... raise children... even among humans... the pack could find more people. It sounded nice... but... would it work? Daniel nodded his head. He was the leader... "We will give you our protection. We will do all we can... for a new home." he said. "A place for us..." he said

Markus looked to her. "If... if you go, I go... I can't lose you... just experiencing it once... I... can't lose you again." he said to her.

Lith put a hand on Daniel's shoulder and moved slightly in front of him to look Ezio in the eyes. "You are looking at one of the first and only full blood Shifters... Tell me what you say is true, that we will be safe living with the people, safe as we protect them." she said looking him in the eyes. "We will give protection but in return we want protection from you" she said.

"Markus no. I'll be fine... With Ezio and the assassin's I will be fine" she said. "We need someone to stay here and tend to the wounded" she said putting a hand on his cheek.

Daniel looked back to Lith... listening to her words... then looked back to Ezio and nodded. He was glad she was with him, helping him find the right words... helping him lead. Without her by his side, he knew he would be lost. "That is our deal... we will help... if we have a home by the end of this. A safe home to raise our young ones... to have our pack live in peace... without the humans hunting us mercilessly." he said.

Markus looked to her. Her hand on his cheek... he knew what she said was true... that he was needed there... to help the wounded... it wasn't his place near the front. He looked at her. "I swear to Lupa... you better not get hurt... I don't want to have to operate on you... seeing your injured... it would... break my heart..." he said.

Ezio nodded "I personally will guarantee you have a safe home".

Mera smiled a little "Lupa will guide us, Watch for our return" she said. She turned to Daniel and Lith "Lith will have to stay here" she said.

Lith growled inside, she longed to fight, to lead the attack. "I am Shifter, I may be pregnant but I can still fight" she said stubbornly.

Daniel put his hands on her. "No... Lith... I don't like to force things onto you... but you will stay here..." he said. "I don't want you going out... especially in your condition. Think of... when we lost the last cubs... the unborn... you can't fight now... we can't go through that again." he said. Daniel drew her close to him... he didn't want to tell her yet he had planned to fight... go into the front lines... make a safe home for his pack.

She was a little more pregnant now than she was when she lost the last lot. "Your.... Your right love." she said. She held him close "You get hurt and I'll kick your ass" she said.

Daniel smiled at her. Glad she was not going... he knew it hurt her not being able to fight... but it was for the best. He laughed lightly. "I know... I'll be sure to come back safe and sound... I promise..." he said to her. Now he only hoped that he would be able to keep such a promise...

Mera knew Daniel was lying to protect her and she was also to protect Markus. "Right we should move and catch them in the day light. Ezio's men are on the way to the mainland and some are waiting for us" she said

Daniel held Lith tight for a moment, kissing her one last time, deeply, wanting her to feel all his love for her, hoping that she would know how much she meant to him... more than anyone that he had ever known. He knew that he would be leaving now... he didn't want to... but he knew that he had to give them a home... he would willingly fight for that.

Mera held Markus then turned to leave.

Lith held Daniel. "I'll be calling you home" she said.

Ezio gathered a few shifters into a small boat "I hope you dogs can swim" he said watching as Mera and Lith held their lovers. He looked away seeing for a moment his Brother in Mera's arms not Markus.

As Mera turned to leave, Markus got bold for a moment. Moving quickly to her before grabbing her once more and kissing her on the lips, deeply, lovingly. He pulled back a moment. "You will be safe... if... you start to feel weak... please... don't fight anymore. Pull back... I want to see you again.

Daniel looked into Lith's eyes. "I'll be listening for you..." he said. Kissing her lightly once more before leaving her reluctantly. "I can swim... no worries..." he said keeping a cheery attitude... he didn't want Lith to see him sad right now.

Mera felt his arms grabbing her and then their lips locked together in a deep and passionate kiss. She nodded "I will return.... In one piece" she said before walking off.

Lith held herself as she watched Daniel leave. There was only five of the pack still on the island, Two young boys Bec and Rat, Lith, Markus and Djaq. "I hate waiting... I remember waiting for my cozen to return.... That was painful enough." she said. "Bec and Rat you two are to collect wood for a fire, Djaq can cook the left over food and Markus and I will look out for civilians at the point and return when we see them" she said.

Markus watched as she left him... he suddenly felt alone... a tear welled up in his eyes before he wiped them away... he couldn't stay sad for long. With a little sigh he moved back... knowing he would have to start helping... the sooner this was over, the sooner he could see Mera again. He stood by Lith as a lookout... waiting for his skills to be needed.
