"The alliance doesn't want a repeat of the rebellion. They didn't want atomaton like people but ones with less agression that would be easier to manage and tell what to do. With the knowledge of what they did on Miranda, hurt them. There are those on the inner worlds that have raised concerns about the leadership and their motives. No one really trusts the government now."

He took a cookie and ate it. "Reavers are more then a disturbed child's nightmare. What ever it was that trigered their behavior, it seems that is is transferable. So it would not be good to be captured by them."

When she asked what the place was, "It is called Ranos, the gas giant is Mantros. They mine the minerals for the fuel that runs the ships like Raven. Cargo ships come in and out of here fast. Deliver supplies and load the ore and go."

He turned back to the controls and radioed the Moon. "Ranos this is Raven, inbound with three passengers, cleared to set up a research station."

"Raven this is Ranos control. Cleared to land. Have load of ore that can be picked up and transported to refinery. Have contract and voucher for pay upon delivery."

She nodded and listened to what he had to say "definatly like an illness then" she muttered and then heard Ranos Control. After a bit she spoke up "Thanks for filling me in on stuff Stan" she smiled and Mew jumped onto the back of his chair andlay down "See ya" she said walking out and down to her room after she had picked up her notebook again sicne Mew had stolen it off her as a joke. She got herself a drink on the way before she worked on one of her experiments which she had stuffed in her bag.
She felt a slight jerk as the ship landed and walked out again and picked up Mew running towards her and he soon settled on her shoulders."have fun?" she asked and Mew nodded "thought so, seems you've made a freind already" she laughed and Mew nodded and mewed happily waggign his tail a bit as well.
She was thinking about what she had learned and Mew just stayed looking around from her shoulders

Stan buzzed Krell's quarters and told him they were on approach and that there was cargo to be picked up if he wanted it. That was always something that made him smile. Going some where else with a full cargo hold would be a good thing. More money which ment his crew and him could enjoy themselves at the next port. He left his quarters and went up to the bridge and looked over the offer that had been sent. It was good pay and he radioed back they would accept the cargo.

"All right people we are coming in for a landing. Strap in and prepare for landing. He nodded to Stan and he slowed the ship to enter the atmosphere. The decent was a bit bumpy but nothing that was overly wrenching. The engines were sounding good and he was pleased. "Any thing on scaners?" he asked.

"Everything is clear." Stan told him.

The Landing bay came up fast and Stan slowed even more. He brought the ship down and landed. Before he could get off the bridge the scientist were down to the cargo bay getting their equipment ready to be unloaded. As he met Taigi picking up Mew. Going to be here only long enough to unload the scientists and load the ore. Come on you can see a bit of another world."

She had already looked outside and smiled when he said she could go outside thinking she could test out the old hover board she had found and given another purpose to now but adjusting it took a lot of work so it alwayts kept her occupied but truthfully it was still a peice of junk.
She stopped slightly "Won't you need help loading the ore, If it has a lot of mines their most likely selling ore" she said waiting for an aswer as she walked down with him to the cargo hold.
Once they were there she looked outside it looked like a gaint desert with the odd but of the mines slightly visable if you looked closely which she found a bit strange, As if to indicate where the mines were you wuld sometimes see a human head pop up from the mines and then hide again.
Mew however, had taken an instant disliking to the sceintists but ignored it and stayed firmly on Taigi's shoulders to comfortable to move from them anyway.
"Amazing," she said just looking outside "How can they live like that, truely amazing but just a bit sad" she said muttering the last part and Mew nodded as one of the sceintists just gave him an evil glare he ignored it and tapped Taigi gently as if telling her.

"Nope they miners will handle everything. Have a look around but don't go to far." Krell told her. He looked out over the deserted landscape. It was a desert looking planet, but not sand, but rock and some mountains, but there was no vegatation, and not surface tyep life forms. Underground through there was forms of life. There were bat like creatures in some natural underground chambers, along with lumenous type bugs that were about the size of a grown man.

The scientist quickly gathered their stuff and made off into the mining complex. They had an area they would be taken to that would keep them away from the miners and vise versa. They had their own food and water so they were independent of anyone. On the next resupply run they already had their supplies laid on.

Krell stood next to Taigi. "A lonely but very profitable life. Most of the miners here work for a couple years and make enough money to live for several on one of the better worlds. When they get low on cash, they come back to do some more mining. More of a rotation of a group of miners." he told her.

She had watched the sceintists shuffled quickly from the ship with their stuff towards the mining complex and Mew smiled slightly and jumped around on her shoulders.

When they heard Krell speak they looked up to him slightly listening "but still, it'slonley, no one likes to be too lonley anyway, it's human nature to want to be with a freind atleast or a pet but I guess even other strangers are a sort of company also there are gaint bugs who would want to work near them" she said and Mew nodded slightly

After a bit Taigi and Mew wondered off slightly not going very far and they still found a small natural chamber close to the surface and looked inside seeing a gaitn luminous bug they both looked ot each other and watched it for a mntue making no noise and they even held their breath ebfore they soon just backed off slowly so as not to disturb it in anyway and so it didn'tstart attacking them either.

She looked around at the desert around them "A desert but no sand, how odd." she muttered and Mew nodded and mewed softly to her.

Miners moved about the tunnels and chambers. Some were off duty and others going to work. "Not to Odd." an old miner said as he heard her make her comment. "A desert doesn't necessarily mean sand. Anything devoid of vegitation and water is considered a desert." He looked out over the desolate landscape. "This wasteland may not be much for living on, but...." he grinned, "it will make a good living for you.

About that time Krell came up and nodded. "Got to have a love for mining though. Working underground, sometimes in tight quarters." The old man laughed.

"Not for one that is afraid of confined spaces." the old man said and walked off.

About that time one of the scientists came running up. Captain, Captain, you have to come quick. The probes we sent in some time ago has picked up something. Something that is not Reaver."

Krell shugged his shoulders and followed the scientist. "It's a ship, A FireFly class cargo ship. It is just drifting out there in space. But that is not what I want to show you." They came to the scientist's little nitch and on the screen of one of their monitors was the cargo ship. They magnified a portion of the ship where the name was. It read SERENITY. That made Krell's jaw drop and he stared intently at the screen.

She swiveled round on her heel suprised when someone began talking to her and listened to them politely"I see, guess I've been reading outdated book then" she said rubbing the back of her neck and Mew shook his and went back to sleep. "or gaint bugs for that matter" she said as he mentions it was not for someone who is afraid of confined spaces and nodded slightly not really noticing much else but the person who was talking to her.

Jumping slightly as she heard the scientist and just followed behind them both watching the screen as well she recognised the ship form her yard "That ship was at my yard about a month ago, how'd end up all the way over there in such a short space of time?" she muttered thinking about it carefully trying to remember what type of engine it had pretty sure it wasn't one that was 'turebo-charaged' anyway. When she saw the name she cocked her head to one side not sure why Krell's jaw had just dropped but it was ratehr funny but didn't laugh and Mew looked up and nudged her slightly.

"You might have seen a ship that looked like this, another FireFly Class perhaps. But the Serenity has been missing for over five years now." Krell said. "It and its crew just vanished. There was talk that the Alliance had finally caught up with them and delt out their own justice for what they had done."

Officially the government couldn't have done anything to them. The crew of the Serenity had exposed a dirty secret the govenment had been covering up. What the government had done was illegal as it was. But that would not stop them from secretly disposing of them.

The ship and it's crew had become famous and heros to some. "Give me the coordinates." Krell said. He was handed a data pad. The scientists already had a feeling that Krell would be intrested.

"Did they every make another one called 'Serenity', I heard that it had a great mechnic which also came from our yard... One day I'll be like them.. well hopefully" she said and Mew nodded "
ew's anacestor ot aboard once as well I think.. let's see yep, about six years ago...but still the ship last month had the same name.. maybe they just recent made another one or created a fake... A firefly ship has the best engine you coudl think of and there is barely any minor or serious problems but they are delicate at times, they don't ahve any of the old machines but that can also be a fault for some depending on the age and alliance they are usually updated very often" she said and Mew tapped her head and almost spoke but didn't quite mange.
"Wonder what it's like on there though,must be great" she said leting her imagination take over and then shook her head.

"Serenity was Serenity. No other ship bore that name." Krell told her. He checked the coordiantes and found that they were dangerously close to the Reavers Base of Operation. The destroyed ships that once operated around Miranda. Why the Reavers had not taken the ship was yet another mystry. Krell rubbed his jaw. To find out what happened to the ship and it's crew would be a fteather in his cap.

Long had it been speculated that the Alliance government had something to do with it. But Taigi said that it had put into the port not to long ago. Something was not quite right and the mystrey peaked his intrest. "We will check it out after we deliver our cargo. Come on Taigi we need to prep the ship to go."

Mew had jumped off her shoulders and she picked him up carefully before nodding "Hey did I bring my logs with me?" she asked Mew and he nodded "Great, I can check the name of the ship and the date as well" she had looked over the co-ordinates "sorry, but isn't that really close to something that no one wants to get close to?" she asked looking up slightly as she waited for an answer walking back with him Mew jumped on his shoulders to look at the co-ordinates as well and jumped back to Taigi's shoulders and pretended to hide "hmm, what's wrong boy?" she asked and scratched Mew's ear gently. "You know that place?"

Once they were back she pulled her goggles down as she helped prepare the ship monitoring the levels as well as they began to leave and also decided to explore the engine a bit more for any other broken old parts and figuring out if she would be able to fix them.

After that was done she went and found her logs in her room and checked the name and date and walked out holding them and Mew read through them as well... "Yep defiantly the same name, spelling the same as well. Came in with a really bad engine though especially for that kind of ship new as well so was probably not put together to well at all, hate when those ships come in since you can't do much about them really, although it is very unusual" she said scanning through the other fireflies she had worked on noticing that was the only one with such a serious problem the others just came in for minor repairs or to cover up burns and repair bits of the ship quickly nothing that took more than a few hours. She flicked back and checked the date once again to make sure and it really was only a month or two ago that it came in. "We knew the Serenity was gone but the captain was adamant that was what his ship was called, it was a terrible ship though one of the worst I've worked on." she muttered the last bit, At the port where she worked they were told not to start arguments with customers and to be relatively polite at least, their boss however wasn't the best example.

Stan picked up some mail that they could drop off at the planet that they were taking the cargo to. Once they were all loaded up, Krell called everyone back to the ship and then they were lifting off. Once they were well on their way and there was no indication of Reavers, he had Stan put it on auto pilot and called ever body down to the Common Area.

He would let them know what had been found and what he was planning to do. It was dangerous, and crazy for sure. It was very close to the Reavers and they would surely send a ship or two out to investigate them.

Mew jumped up and down when everyone was called to the common area and Taigi looked up when everyone was called there and Mew sat on her shoulder curious as ever as she went overboth of them listening quietly even Mew for a change with his owner holding her log behind her back closed shut, she had marked the page but listened to what he had to say first of all. Mew wiped a bit of oil off his head and Taigi turned her head slightly turning back to listen to what they were talking about.

Stan looked at Krell, his eyes wide, "Are you crazy, insane." he asked.

Meg joined him on that line. "That is insanity. Get that close to Reavers?

Their Merc just sat there cleaning one of his guns. To him a job was a job and if Reavers were a part of it then he would do his best to kill them.

Krell just stood there his arms crossed across his chest. He expected the outbursts. He would have said the same thing and more, like they were doing. He looked over at Taigi waiting for her input into the matter.

Taigi looked to them all and then to Mew "Well, it might be insane yes but that ship wasn't taken so there is obviously a reason, Also a ship with the exact same name booked in at my port about a month ago. Also it'll be fun a little danger never hurt anyone" she said and Mew nodded and jumped up onto Meg's shoulder again quite happily and Taigi looked up at him and laughed "Also if we are quiet enough and don't cause too much noise they probabaly won't notice us, they don't go there very much all I heard from peopl is that is was abandonded planet with nothing but wrecks and it;s not as if they are montiering it all the time" she said

Krell looked at everyone and simply said, "We are going to check it out. We go in slow and keep our eyes open at all times. Any movement from the Reavers and we will leave. For some reason they have left that ship alone." He had a desire to find out what happened to the crew, and to find out why the Reavers left the ship alone.

Meg was not to happy nor was Stan, but they knew their captain. Once he got something into his head, he would not let it go. Both shook their head and Meg said, "If I get infected with what ever makes them a reaver, I coming for you."

If Taigi was right someone brought the ship into her port. Some one had to have piloted it in, perhaps for supplies or something else. "Well Taigi looks like we are going to see what this mystry ship holds."

Mew and Taigi looked to each other with a slight smile at what Meg had said. "Maybe the reason is they could be using it as storage or there is something that won't allow the 'reaver disease' to spread, also if they don't want it they won't go near it and there will be old ships around it that I doubt they'll use either" she said

"Yeah, I also want to compare the engines of them both, it was definatly a firefly though I'm begining to doubt that fact; it had the design, build everything apart from strength and the correct engine" She said and Mew still sitting on Megs shoulder tried speaking but frowned when no words came out loud enough and jumped back onto Taigi's shoulders and tapped her softly whispering in her ear and she looked to him and scratched him behind the ear.

"Seems like your getting the hang of talking huh Mew?" she said and he nodded happily and mewed wrapping his tail around her neck like a scarf. Taigi already got a sesne that Krell wasn't going to change his mind reguardless even if there was movement from the Reavers, not that she minded she wanted to see what was down there to. It was one of the ships every mechanic wanted to see and work on when it was in action.

"OK then lets get on with getting this ore to market and get what ever we might need and head out there." he told them.

Stan, shaking his head headed for the bridge along with Meg. Frank not being needed just headed for his quarters. He wanted to check his stash of explosives and weapons. Like any good merc he carried alot, never knowing what situation you might be in.

That just left Krell and Taigi standing in the common room, along with Mew of course. He hoped he was right about the reavers not bothering the ship. "Well looks like we are soon to solve a mystry that has had people talking for years."

"Not nesiccarily, might just find more peices to the puzzle...a few bits mgiht still hide themself, it has been five years after all, it won't be a simple answer either" she said and Mew nodded he was listening and understanding each word and coughed slightly trying to speak and frwoned mewing again to Taigi. "Oh, you'll get the hang of it... few more times" she said to him adn he nodded.
"And it's sure to be something interesting as well." she said smiling. Mew then shook his head "But what if their are skeltons, I hate skeltons in books they look scary" "Oh come on, their only bones can't do any harm unlesss they start to move on their own" she joked and Mew nipped her and jumped on Krell's shoulder and she crossed her arms as he stuck his tounge out at her. "Mew" she said and Mew mewed and wagged his tail.
