Antigone
Antigone
- Spoiler:
- Photo/Image: https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v256/edge-of-infinity/Avatars/antigone.png
Name: Antigone Algoni [Name Meaning: "Unbending"]
Race: Human (Cerboltan)
Age: 27
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Gender: Female
Hair Colour and Style: Forest Green, shoulder-length, straight
Eye Colour: Gold
Ht. & Wt.: 5' 10", ~160 lbs.
Theme Song: "Singing Mountain" (Click here to listen)
Identifying Marks: Green hair and gold eyes aren't odd enough?
General Appearance: Antigone is a young woman in her mid-twenties who looks to have been quite athletic and active all her life. Her deep green hair hangs down straight to her shoulders and frames her face, drifting only slightly over her eyes in the front. She wears a loose, comfortable white tunic that show very little skin of her torso, draping all the way down to her thighs and held at the waist with a simple leather belt, and white pants that cover nearly all of her legs, completed with black boots that show much use for travel and design for comfort. Interestingly, her tunic has no sleeves, leaving her arms bare; for someone who appears to have been traveling for some time, her skin perhaps surprisingly bears no scars or other sign of healed injury, as if she's never been harmed. The rest of her belongings she carries in a simple leather pack.
Background: Cerbolt was a village on the edges of society, situated on a small and rocky island off the northwestern coast and save for very occasional visits from their rulers' representatives for necessities such as taxes a village that was mostly self-contained and autonomous. Its people, noted for a strange and unique combination of green hair and golden eyes, rarely left their lands and even more rarely involved themselves in any way with the outside world. Their affairs were focused inward, on an ancient pact their ancestors had forged generations ago. Deep in the mountains, hidden from the outside world, was a powerful relic known as the Mind Shard: a vibrant and intricate crystal which contained the slumbering essence of an evil being known as the Dark God Seth. The Cerboltans had been entrusted with the task of guarding the Shard from those who would abuse its powers and risk releasing Seth's evil into the world once again. To ensure they would have the strength to protect the Shard, the Cerboltans had been given a power called the Covenant.
In time, though, evil would no longer sleep. An outsider named Draeven, banished from the kingdom for treason, found his way to Cerbolt and convinced its people he was a stranger, a vagabond lost and alone, injured and only in need of a few days' food and rest before he could once again be on his way. A gentle people - perhaps due to years without significant threat to their charge - the Cerboltans complied, placing the man in the home of the village's leader, Argolas. While in his care, Draeven questioned Argolas regarding the island, the village, and its people, and the chief (perhaps due to ignorance, or perhaps simply to impress the stranger) divulged information that should not have touched this man's knowledge, eventually informing him of the power of the Covenant and the existence of the Mind Shard. Draeven, embittered by his banishment and hungering for revenge, concocted a scheme to acquire the Shard, and convinced Argolas that the Cerboltans had been granted their power by Seth himself - to protect the Shard until a suitable host came to free him, restore his power, and bring about a new age where the Cerboltans would be a people honored worldwide. He managed to convince Argolas he was a soothsayer and that if given access to the Mind Shard he could divine who Seth's proper host was, where they could be found, and what needed to be done to bring about this New Age. Argolas, his ego stimulated and his imagination already reeling at the possibilities, quickly complied.
Deep within the mountains Argolas led Draeven to an ancient bunker built deep under the stone, filled with technological wonders the likes of which no one alive had ever seen. Argolas explained that these "metal demons" were the servants and soldiers of Seth in his war against the world eons ago, before he was defeated and the Cerboltans placed in the care of the Shard containing his mind. The Shard itself was stored in a deep vault, far from the machines and closed off behind several locked doors and thick walls of black stone with which neither was familiar enough to identify by name, despite Argolas having been here countless times since his youth. When Draeven took the Shard to begin his act of "soothsaying", Seth's mind within it awoke from its centuries-long slumber and stretched out through the crystal to take hold of Draeven's body. The imprisoned intelligence, only partially freed, promised Draeven his vengeance and more if he complied with its wishes, and eagerly the banished charlatan complied. Declaring that his divination had named himself as Seth's new host, he took the Shard back up to the place in the mountains where the machines were, Argolas following with loyal bewilderment.
Two weeks later, an unbelievable force of robots and mechanical assault weapons burst from the bunker and the shrine constructed above it by the first Cerboltans, and quickly swarmed over the city below. Commanding this army were none other than Draeven - now calling himself Lord Seth - and Argolas, both infused with countless cybernetic enhancements. Seth (in reality not a Dark God at all, but a malevolent Artificial Intelligence from an ancient age) had fully claimed Draeven's body and mind as his own, and quickly overwhelmed the other Cerboltans, but killed remarkably few: after all, when you have the power to force someone to serve you, it does you no good to kill them instead of taking them alive. The majority of the Cerboltans were captured, implanted with similar cybernetics, and their minds forced by the machinery into blind loyalty to Seth and his cause. With his mechanical and cyborg army growing by the minute, the Machine Lord departed the island, leaving only a smoking ruin in his wake.
It wasn't until the next morning that a military force from the mainland arrived on the island to investigate, having seen the fires of war from afar but not able to arrive in time to stop the assault nor to even see the retreating army of machines. Searching the ruins they found only one survivor - an infant girl, hidden in a closet that happened to be the only part of a house that survived. The unit's commanding officer, General Lucas Algoni, claimed the child and returned home to his wife to raise as their daughter, naming her Antigone.

Re: Oblivion's Chars
Antigone's Bio, con't
- Spoiler:
- History, con't: Antigone grew up in the Algoni household, knowing from obvious appearance that she was adopted but nothing else of her people, their customs, or the Covenant to which they had all sworn. She only knew that for nearly her entire life her kingdom had been at war with a marauding army of machines led by Seth the Machine Lord, and that wherever she had come from had probably been decimated by his army like many other parts of the land. Thus, much against her father's wishes, Antigone trained herself from childhood in self-defense and combat with the hope of being able one day to stand in some capacity against Seth's forces. She became exceptionally skilled in unarmed combat, although she also learned to use a staff with unusual capability.
It wasn't until she was around the age of twenty or so when she found herself suddenly thrust into the war headfirst. Due to a series of mishaps, she along with a roguish young man named Daven and her cousin Selah, a noble's daughter who had little to no interest in involving herself in the war if it could at all be helped, found herself in enemy territory with the only way to safety being a fight. Thankfully her training was sufficient against the few machines they encountered, and her companions weren't completely helpless: Daven turned out to be quite the swashbuckler, unexpectedly, and Selah had at least been given a dagger with which to protect herself, and the three were able to fight their way back to safety within the span of a couple of days. It was there, a walled city within the safe zone where Seth's army had not yet breached, they encountered Lieutenant Ayaka Algoni, General Lucas's half-elven half-sister and Antigone and Selah's aunt, who informed them the accidents that had occurred to them resulting in them getting stranded in enemy territory had all been arranged by her, complete with a squadron ready and on hand to rescue them if things got out of hand, as a test to see if the three of them would be capable of getting in and out of unusual and unique situations. Satisfied with the results, she informed the trio they'd passed and she wanted them to serve as a special unit under her for certain "non-standard" missions to strike directly at Seth and his closest officers. All three, albeit with much reluctance from Selah, eventually agreed to the proposal.
The three were sent on risky missions deep into enemy territory with little or no support from the military force, generally accompanied only by Ayaka herself, a skilled and powerful Spellsword mage as well as a genius tactician. It was on one of these missions that both Selah and Antigone unlocked unique powers hidden within themselves. For Antigone, it occurred when the quad was caught in a magical trap left by one of Seth's servitors, which summoned a demonic being known as an Invernum - a monstrous skeleton shrouded in an endless blue flame colder than the coldest ice. The creature nearly killed Antigone with a single blow, then went on to attack her companions, but before it could finish any of them off Antigone suddenly stood upright... and burst into flames herself. Fire covered her entire body, turning her into a living walking flame, then flew from her fingers and immolated the frozen fiend, destroying it seemingly without effort. At last, Antigone had awakened the power of the Covenant.
It took some time longer for her to master the other three aspects of the Covenant - Earth, Water, and Air - but in time she managed to manifest each one, and eventually gain enough control over each that she could call her power into existence with only a moment's thought and a small bit of exertion. Maintaining the metamorphosis, especially for extended periods of time, was and still is the most draining part of the ordeal, but the devastating power at her fingertips with each form generally made the time necessary in one of her "forms" fairly short. Armed with these new powers, she and her unit continued to work their way through Seth's hierarchy, until eventually standing face-to-face with the Machine Lord himself with Argolas, his loyal lieutenant, at his side.
In the battle that followed, both Seth and Argolas were drastically injured, and much of Seth's control over his army was damaged, causing many of the machines to fail and the cyborgs to regain their free will. The two commanders, along with what forces remained loyal or still under their control, retreated to parts unknown. Victory celebrations in the kingdom were thorough, but for Antigone and her unit there was little time for rejoicing - the War with Seth wasn't over, they'd simply won an important Battle. A short time later, the group of them departed, following the Machine Lord's diminishing trail into lands afar.
Pets: None.
Special Abilities: Antigone's most powerful ability is the Covenant - a unique form of magic possessed only by the people of Cerbolt, a blessing placed on them by forgotten eidolons of the past who fought against Seth in his first attempt at world conquest, and imprisoned his defeated AI within the Mind Shard, a blessing passed down through the Cerboltan bloodline and marked by giving its possessors green hair and golden eyes. It allows the person to channel elemental energy through their body, causing them to become a living conduit of power for as long as they have the energy to maintain the manifestation. Antigone can summon the power of all four elements, but is more experienced with some than with others.
Fire: Fire was the first element Antigone learned to master, triggered when she was attacked by the frigid flames of the Invernum demon; as a result, it is the one with which she is most experienced and most skilled. While in Fire manifestation Antigone can control heat energy, which generally is most useful for a nearly-endless variety of assaults and attacks, of which only the imagination is the true limit... something Antigone has never really had any lack of. However, Fire is an extremely energy-intensive manifestation, and Antigone tires much more quickly in it than she does in Earth or Water manifestations, requiring her to return to her human form more frequently.
Earth: The second manifestation Antigone mastered, triggered first by a need to defend her companions from an incoming rockslide, a trap set by one of Seth's servitors. Earth form changes her appearance to that of a living statue - a beautiful young woman apparently carved of stone and rock, with hair of flowers and clothed with ivy and moss. Much of her abilities in Earth form are defensive in nature, although she is still fully capable of defending herself. Due to the nature of this manifestation, it limits her speed and dexterity significantly, often forcing her to stand still or move as little as possible.
Water: Triggered by being thrown into a pool of frigid water at the bottom of an Ice Cave, Water form is the least energy-intensive of Antigone's manifestations; she can remain in this form much longer than her Fire or Wind forms, and once she becomes more experienced with it she may even be able to maintain it longer than her Earth form. In Water manifestation, Antigone appears to be a living, moving pool of deep blue liquid that can change shape at will but generally rests in a feminine form vaguely similar to that of her human shape. While she is capable of some form of combat and self defense in this shape, usually by utilizing ice, most of Antigone's abilities in Water manifestation are most effective at healing.
Wind: Antigone's newest and least experienced manifestation was triggered during her unit's battle with Seth and Argolas; the latter hurled her off Seth's tower to what would have been her death, but by some twist of fate she managed to unlock her final manifestation before hitting the ground and flew back up to rejoin the fight. Wind form - in which she resembles her human self except nearly translucent and surrounded by a neverending whirlwind - grants her great speed and agility, the ability to fly, and control over the very air which she can use both offensively and defensively. Like Fire, Wind manifestation is very energy-intensive; unlike Fire, Antigone is not yet very experienced with its abilities and burns through her endurance very quickly, forcing her to limit the amount of time she uses this form during combat. For now, until she gains more experience, she typically only uses Wind form for travel or for certain specific situations.
When Antigone dismisses her manifestations, she returns to her human form nearly completely unharmed - her body devoid of wounds, her clothes completely untouched despite the destruction one might expect in Fire or Wind forms. However, this is not an instant massive healing power: grave injuries will generally prevent her from changing forms, as the attempt will be far too painful and too draining on energy she would otherwise be using to endure such a wound. This explains the lack of scars over her entire body - what many she has gotten over her career have been quickly erased by the next time she entered one of her manifestations.
Weapons: Antigone's main weapons, save her manifestations, are her hands and feet - she is skilled in the art of unarmed combat, and combined with some of her manifestations a simple punch or kick can be truly devastating. She also is experienced at fighting with a staff, and carries one with her generally at all times. It is constructed of a branch of rare wood known as Dassalm, which does not burn or splinter, allowing it to be used while in some of her more violent manifestations.
Personality: Friendly and outgoing, Antigone is driven by curiosity tempered with a strong sense of justice. As, or at least as she presumes, the last of her people she sees it as a personal duty to see Seth imprisoned once more, if not outright destroyed. She is now, however, traveling far beyond the borders of the land she's known all her life into places she's never been; at times she's not even sure whether she's still on Seth's trail or not. She's the type to right wrongs as she sees them, without stopping to see if she might be stepping on some local toes in the process... a trait that has caused her (and her companions) much unintended trouble in the past.
Re: Oblivion's Chars
Selah
- Spoiler:
- Photo/Image: https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v256/edge-of-infinity/Avatars/selah.png
Name: Selah Aaronsen [Name Meaning: "Measured or Weighed in Judgement"]
Race: Half-Elf
Age: 23
Alignment: Neutral Good
Gender: Female
Hair Colour and Style: Light-blue, wavy, braided down to between her shoulderblades
Eye Colour: Dark Blue
Ht. & Wt.: 5' 5", ~125 lbs.
Theme Song: "Black Rose" (Click here to listen)
Identifying Marks: A maroon-red tattoo adorns the right side of her head; her hair has long grown back over it, but portions of the bottom extend to her forehead, and glimpses of red are visible occasionally through her hair. The tattoo resembles this symbol: https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v256/edge-of-infinity/Astaroth.gif
The pointed tip of her right ear has been clipped off. Rather than result in a more human-looking appearance, it simply looks as it is, as if someone cut off part of her ear with a knife. It has long since healed, leaving only some scarring.
General Appearance: Selah is far from imposing, a fairly short and thin young woman with a demure appearance. Her hair, a soft blue shade, is mostly tied back in a single braid which she adorns with ribbons and other trappings from time to time. A bronze circlet rests on her brow. She dresses simply for a traveler, in common weather wearing a simple white tunic and skirt along with light leather armor and leggings. Simple brown boots, worn by long journies, and a silver bracelet on each wrist complete the uniform. She does not appear armed... not even with a simple dagger.
Background: Selah is the daughter of Lohan Aaronsen, a bookish scholar and wizard of some small talent, and Winterestrianna, an elven duchess and historian generally simply known as "Winter" by her acquaintances. Winter's twin sister, Summerellessa or "Summer", was wed to General Lucas Algoni, a skilled warrior and mage knight, a commander of the kingdom's military. Thus, it is easy to see how Selah grew up in what one might consider a sheltered, exalted position. Following the war with Draco, the Dark Dragon, twenty-five years ago where her mother and aunt met their respective husbands-to-be, the families decided that given how much of their lives they had given up to war and battle they wished no such thing for their children. Lucas and Summer's adopted daughter, Selah's cousin Antigone, had no interest in such a quiet lifestyle and spent hours each day in self-imposed training despite the complaints of her parents, but Selah was content to live the life of a noble daughter, never concerning herself with the brewing war with the Machine Horde that started shortly before her birth - "that's the military's business, do I look like a soldier to you?" was her most common reply when asked of anything regarding the war. Still, at her mother's behest, she was known to carry a small, intricate dagger of exceptional quality... one that had originally belonged to her father during his days as a court scholar, when the kingdom reeled under Draco's tyranny.
Fate had other plans for the young half-elf, though. During a journey with her cousin and Daven, a roguish young man who turned out to be the son of a prominent local priest and knight, a sabotage cast Selah and her companions behind enemy lines. Driven half mad with panic, she barely managed to maintain her sense and for the first time in her life thanked the gods for Antigone's stubborn refusal to give up her training, as the green-haired young woman's skills, patience, and combat ability - along with Daven's unexpected capable swordsmanship - was the only thing that carried them safely back to their own kingdom's lands, out of the enemy's court. Selah did very little fighting, both too terrified and too unskilled with her knife to truly inflict much harm on the mechanical or cybertronic enemies they encountered, although she did manage to sever a necessary fuel cable from a large siege droid just before it would have run Antigone and Daven over while they battled with another group of opponents... a success she blamed more on luck than anything.
Upon returning, the trio was brought before Lieutenant Ayaka Algoni, General Lucas's half-sister and thus a distant removed aunt of Selah's, who explained that the sabotage had been performed by her agents to test the three of them, and that scouts had been in place to rescue them if they proved inadequate... their return unaided proved they were anything but. She hinted that both Antigone and Selah possessed abilities they didn't yet understand or control, but had no idea what they were; in the meantime, she invited them to join a unique military unit designed to strike at the weak points of the enemy army and eventually target Seth, the Machine Lord and enemy commander. Despite her initial reluctance, Selah eventually accepted the offer at her cousin's behest, at first simply to stop Antigone from badgering her about accepting the offer.
From the beginning, it was quite obvious Selah was the least skilled of the quad when it came to combat - Antigone's ability with unarmed combat combined with the powers granted by the Cerboltan Covenant and Daven's mastery of the sword both put her meager attempts at knife fighting to shame, and Ayaka's exceptional talent as a Spellsword dwarfed even their abilities. So it was somewhat of a surprise and yet at the same time completely understandable that she was the first of the unit to be captured by the enemy. During an ambush, a spider-like scout droid snatched Selah from the back of the battle, and quickly whisked her off to Fear Factory, one of Seth's many installations dotting the countryside where more machines are constructed and captives are implanted with the mechanical enhancements that render them empowered but stripped of free will and eternally slaves to the whim of Seth (and eternal it is, his cybernetics are so advanced that they render the biological components of his cyborgs effectively immortal). Waiting for her at the factory was Argolas, a cyborg Cerboltan and Seth's right hand, who after a short time discerned she had some ability that would make her useful as part of Seth's army. It was he who placed the runic sigil on the right side of her head, but before he could complete the job by mechanizing her the factory was attacked and Antigone, Daven, and Ayaka fought through the defenses to rescue their friend.
Selah was saved - Argolas, damaged during the battle, forced the unit into a choice between saving Selah and defeating him, confident they'd choose the former - but could not be roused from unconsciousness, so she was taken back to a nearby outpost to rest and recuperate. That night, strange lights and sounds in the surrounding countryside heralded the arrival of strange monstrous nightmare creatures, which began to attack both the defending outpost soldiers and the besieging machines (sent by Argolas to retrieve Selah) without distinction. A mystic, serving as an adviser to the outpost commander, was able to divine the creatures were coming from planar rifts opening from somewhere else within the space-time continuum, and that the source was some powerful summoning magic from within the keep itself. Suspecting a spy or infiltrator the soldiers set to searching, but Ayaka and her unit - guessing it had more to do with the strange sigil placed on Selah by Argolas - instead immediately headed to the room where she'd been left. There, amidst a massive swirling mist of magic, they found her under attack from a monstrous creature Ayaka quickly identified as an Id Beast: a manifestation of a person's bestial, animalistic tendencies unrestrained by morals or inhibitions. Luckily, as a manifestation all that had to be done was destroy its physical form and it would be suppressed back to normal mental impulses with no harm to the person it originated from... obviously, due to the nature of the attack, Selah. Upon its defeat the creatures in the outpost not yet destroyed evaporated back to their native planes.
The mystic, several knights escorting him, arrived too late to aid with the battle but was able to explain her predicament: Argolas had awoken a hidden talent deep within Selah's mind, one that eventually would have manifested on its own but thanks to the sigil had been pulled forth prematurely, causing a mental imbalance that resulted in the attack of the summoned creatures and the Id Beast. Thanks to her friends, the imbalance had restored itself, but Selah's psychic abilities had been permanently brought to life. Over the course of several further adventures, she refined her ability and eventually became a capable kinetecist, able to manipulate energy at will with the power of her mind.
It was some time later though that the full penalty of what Argolas had inflicted on her became obvious - during a mission, Selah suddenly fell into a deep coma. Far from civilization at the time, Ayaka contacted a local shaman, who determined that Selah's own power was tearing her mind apart, due to being brought forward and manifested before her mind had naturally developed its capability. The shaman suggested a mystic ritual that would send Selah's mind into the spirit world to seek a remedy, and with no other options her companions reluctantly agreed.
In the spirit world, Selah encountered Trysta, the Angel of Death, who told her of a magic that could save her shattering mind - a secret spell called the Soul Knife. It was hidden in a cavern in the Shadow Lands, a portion of the Spirit World that infringed on Hell itself. Willing to try anything, Selah traveled to the Shadows, eventually accompanied by a long-dead king, the spirit of a fallen knight, and another spirit wanderer like herself. After battling long and hard through the darkness, she finally reached her destination, and her first two companions stayed behind to sustain a spirit bridge to the Soul Knife's hidden location while Selah and the other spirit wanderer crossed to do battle with The Shadar-Kai, the magic's guardian. Upon defeating it, though, the stranger attempted to claim the Knife for himself... and revealed himself to be Argolas, sent to retrieve the Knife's magic for Seth. An interference by Phobia, the Spirit of Fear, allowed Selah to claim the Soul Knife and sent Argolas back to the material world, banned from the Spirit Realm for 1000 years or until death by having his spirit wanderer avatar destroyed by the Soul Knife. Once she left the Shadow Lands and returned to the Spirit World, Trysta led her back to her body, where she finally awoke from her coma, now with the powers of the Soul Knife in addition to her psionics.
She continued to travel with her quad until at last they engaged Seth directly and defeated him. Seth survived and fled with Argolas at his side, though, and Ayaka's unit declared their job wasn't over until Seth had fallen for good, so amidst the celebrations of the rest of the kingdom they four departed for parts unknown, pursuing their evasive and powerful enemies.
Pets: Though she has a tendency to befriend strays, she rarely keeps them for long. She left two cats and a dog with her parents when she left with the DIREA unit, and other than random animals she encountered along the way has not yet acquired new ones.
Special Abilities: Selah is a rarity in her kingdom, a true psychic rather than simply a mystic or wizard. She has very little clairvoyance ability, beyond a simple "sixth sense", but her capabilities as a kineticist are unrivaled, matching some of the most powerful evokers of the kingdom's battlemages in potential, limited only by her inexperience with her newfound powers. Selah can manifest almost any form of kinetic energy at will, limited only by what her mind can endure... and what it can endure is a lot.Her powers, amazing as they may be, become unstable when she places too much stress on them (usually by straining herself or using up too much mental energy), requiring rest to avoid slipping into painful migraines or a short coma.
Weapons: Although she appears unarmed, having stopped carrying her dagger after returning from the Spirit World, Selah is never truly without a weapon (even in a situation where she cannot use her psychic powers) thanks to the Soul Knife. The weapon is a living extension of Selah's very being, usually manifesting as a pair of dagger blades extending from her fingers but capable of being shaped into whatever weapon she needs at the time, from a tiny dart to a greatsword, from a whip to a warhammer. The Soul Knife, when it is brought forth, always appears as a field of shimmering blue energy surrounded by a faint white light that serves as the border defining its shape. It takes a few moments of concentration to summon it or change its shape, during which she has to place complete concentration on the weapon... only a few moments in which she cannot fight or use her psionics, but still a few moments where she is vulnerable, so usually unless the situation demands she will not alter the Knife's shape after summoning it.
Personality: Selah is extremely intelligent, well beyond genius, but for someone of such magnificent intellect has a surprising volume of common sense. Her arrogant, bratty nature has softened thanks to her time in the DIREA unit, after seeing the reality of the world around her and her own inability to remain uninvolved she has dedicated herself to finishing the task the quad has begun. She has become reserved and quiet unless directly called upon, often lost in thought and easily distracted unless giving something to focus on.

Re: Oblivion's Chars
Daven
- Spoiler:
- Photo/Image: https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v256/edge-of-infinity/Avatars/daven.png
Name: Daventhalas "Daven" Kienran [Name Meaning: daven "To recite prayers" thalassa "Sea"; likely total translation "Prayerful Mariner"]
Race: Divine-touched Human
Age: 26
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Gender: Male
Hair Colour and Style: Grey-violet, mostly straight, hangs long and loose down to the middle of his back
Eye Colour: Dark Brown with flecks of silver
Ht. & Wt.: 5' 10", ~175 lbs.
Theme Song: "Burning Blood" (Click here to listen)
Identifying Marks: A tattoo of the Scales of Justice upheld by a skeletal arm adorns the back of his left hand: https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v256/edge-of-infinity/scalejust.jpg
General Appearance: A fairly average looking young man at first glance, hardly muscular and not at all fat, who lets his long hair grow straight down to the middle of his back and seems to put very little effort into controlling it, willing to let it lie where it will. His deep brown eyes seem to constantly be filled with a sparkle of mischief, but that fact is only partially allayed when one discovers he actually DOES have specks of what looks like silver dust scattered through not just the iris but also the whites and pupils of his eyes, and his face is almost always filled with a troublemaker's easy grin. His clothing is simple traveler's fare - a long-wrinkled shirt overlaid by a simple blue tunic and leather armor, brown leggings, old black boots, a rapier at one hip and a bandoleer of daggers around his waist. A flute and a lute both hang from the shoulder opposite his blade, marking the stranger as likely some sort of wandering bard.
Background: Daven is the son and only child of Salome Kienran, a priestess of the Sun God, and Apollos, a skilled swordsman and holy knight in the service of the same who of himself is not quite human. Thus, it was only expected that their child would be born sprinkled with divine power. For much of his early life, though, Daven's innate potential lay dormant, slumbering until the time was right. He grew up in a very religious household but not a very strict one, and came to have a strong faith in his parents' patron himself, but often acted outside the normal restrictions for the more devoted members of the clergy; he had no interest in becoming a priest, considering only two lines of his deity's dogma the most interesting and therefore important: "Search out darkness wherever it hides and if it be foul let it live no more", and "Each dawn is a beginning, each dusk an end; seek out all that can be found each day and live life anew".
Given Daven's mischievous personality, it was only a matter of time until he managed to get himself - and others - involved in trouble. It didn't help that shortly after his birth the kingdom became embroiled with the war against the invading Machine Army and its leader, the Dark God and Machine Lord Seth. Daven had taken to doing covert "jobs" for his father, one of which was to retrieve a weapon known as the Celestial Sword from a vault where it had been left by its previous owner (now presumed dead); knowing where the vault was but otherwise only that it was guarded, Daven managed to beguile Antigone Algoni, a young girl from a nearby village, to aid him in its retrieval by citing himself as "Swift the Lock", a specialist for the local clergy, a tale mostly half true but not quite accurate. After the pair retrieved the sword and fought off its defenses, they were stopped by a local priestess who had noticed the ruckus - who in turn unintentionally revealed Daven's true identity - and then shortly after by Apollos.
Despite the rocky start, Daven and Antigone quickly became fast friends, his devil-may-care personality meshing well with her brazen defiance of her father, General Lucas Algoni, who strongly desired Antigone not to become involved in the Machine War in any way. That same whimsical attitude would soon bring Daven into sharp conflict with Antigone's bratty noble cousin Selah, and it wasn't a day or two before the two were trading barbs every time they met... and not always in a playful sense. Nevertheless, after a few weeks of having known the girls, Daven and the pair found themselves stranded behind enemy lines as a transport they were aboard suddenly fell to sabotage. Daven, appearing at first to be the only one armed and actually proficient with his weapon (which couldn't be said for Selah and her dagger), originally planned to be the one to lead the group to safety but suddenly found himself in a competition with Antigone, who had surprised him to no end with her ability to be his equal in combat with his rapier armed with nothing but her own bare hands and feet.
Upon reaching safety and kingdom territory once again, the trio were brought before General Lucas's half-sister and subordinate officer Lieutenant Ayaka, who explained the sabotage of their vessel had been done by her soldiers, to create a test for the three of them to prove their capabilities to her. Having made it back to civilization unaided, she deemed the three of them skilled enough for a special elite unit she wanted to create for the purpose of striking directly at Seth's weak points, up to and eventually including the Machine Lord himself. Eager for an adventure, Daven was the first to agree, quickly followed by Antigone and, at last and after some persuading from her cousin, Selah.
It was about five months later, after numerous missions where everything from a companion bursting into flames to battling an undead collossus had occurred, that Daven's own destiny began to unfold. A mission to a distant enemy fortress pitted the group against a small army of shadow fiends known as Grues, creatures nearly invulnerable in darkness but greatly weakened by the presence of light, their presence sustained by a semi-permanent shroud of shadow that covered the area. Nevertheless the group persevered, slaying many of these beasts and yet other creatures and servants of Seth, only to be stopped by the arrival of an entity known as the Ur-Grue, something between king and god of these shadow demons. Though they were able to defeat it - or perhaps simply its avatar - the creature took hold of Antigone through her transformational powers of the Covenant and temporarily turned her into a "Shadow" form, possessing her body and subduing her mind. Unwilling to harm their friend the group retreated, regrouping and attempting to come up with a plan.
A suggestion from Apollos was that the group should seek divine intervention, as the Ur-Grue was something of a demigod over its subjects then a more powerful being might be able to break its control, and suggested that even if its host (Antigone) were slain the Ur-Grue itself would simply find another or reconstitute itself a new body from somewhere else; destroying it would be more difficult. He pointed the group to the far west side of the kingdom, where rumor said death waited for those who were unwary, and told them there might be something there that could help.
After battling through Seth's forces, then the guardians of that distant island, Daven along with Selah and Antigone at last came face-to-face with what Apollos had sent them to see: Death Itself - not Trysta the Angel of Death, but rather Anubis, her master. Anubis, opposed to the actions of the Ur-Grue for using possession and necromancy to evade death countless times in the past, agreed to aid in the group's plight and placed a powerful rune on Daven's rapier that, when activated, would allow him to strike spirit rather than flesh, enabling him to battle the Ur-Grue without harming Antigone in the process. The trio returned to the dark lands and engaged the possessed Cerboltan, and with the aid of Anubis's magic were able to drive the dark god out of Antigone's body; before he could flee to claim another, finding little foothold in the three enemies, a pack of spectral jackals swept up over the side of the Ur-Grue's keep and dragged his spirit-form into the darkness. In reward for their aid in helping him defeat an old enemy, Anubis named Daven the "Divine Seeker", a title that placed upon him a handful of unique holy powers drawn from Anubis as if he were a priest, but not bound by the normal rules and regulations of the clergy, deeming him suited to "seek out the will of the gods in his own fashion". Given Daven's own quasi-divine nature, these powers were slightly enhanced beyond what a normal Seeker would be capable of.
It was not long to follow until the group engaged Seth and Argolas at last, and although the villainous pair were beaten they were not defeated, and fled far beyond the kingdom's borders. Ever eager for new territory, Daven was the first to suggest pursuing them while the rest of the kingdom celebrated their victory, and the others were quick to agree. The four set forth into lands unknown, searching for new experiences and an old foe....
Pets: None exactly, but a spectral jackal named Horace regularly appears bringing messages from Anubis and sending back anything Daven has to tell the Death God.
Special Abilities: Daven's connection to the divine nature as a Seeker gives him various powers drawn from Anubis, much like a priest but with more focus on stealth and subterfuge than on converting the nonbelievers and smiting the heathens. He can turn invisible, walk through walls, short-range teleport, create illusionary duplicates of himself, create ghostly images and sounds, and a few other things. Of course, as all divine servants can, Daven's magic can heal wounds, remove poisons, cure diseases, repair various maladies, and if given the time to prepare and a few days in meditation even raise the dead. As far as combat goes, he can blind enemies temporarily, put them to sleep, or paralyze them with a touch in the right spots. As a servant of Anubis, he also holds power over the dead and undead similar to what all priests have but most Seekers don't, allowing him to drive them away, paralyze them with fear, or destroy them with corroding life energy. As a Seeker he doesn't have as much magic granted to him each night as a priest would (Anubis always grants his divine powers at dusk), so Daven relies on his magic a lot less in a fight, putting most of his focus in his swordsmanship. Much of his magic is aided or even requires the use of music to activate, hence the many instruments he carries on his person.
Weapons: Daven fights with two blades, a rapier in his right hand and a curved dagger in his left. Both are of excellent craftsmanship, but beyond that have no innate unusual powers of their own (at least that Daven or his friends and family are aware of). However, his rapier bears a powerful magic rune placed on it by Anubis. While active, the rapier will not harm living flesh but rather strike and wound the soul. This makes it exceptionally useful against ghosts and other bodiless, incorporeal undead as well as people who have been possessed, as when Antigone was by the Ur-Grue, for the rune is designed to strike only the aberrant soul when two are present in one body. When such a strike is made, the rune also prevents that creature from possessing that body again for a short time (about an hour or two, usually long enough to drive it away or destroy it). The rune resembles this symbol: https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v256/edge-of-infinity/Avatars/orthos-av.jpg
Personality: Daven is known for being lighthearted, mischievous, and notoriously talkative. He is rarely not in a good mood unless something has been done deliberately to spoil it, and generally is the most outgoing of the DIREA unit, often prodding the others to relax a bit more. Daven takes almost nothing seriously - the only exceptions seeming to be the unit's goal of defeating Seth, his oath to Anubis, and keeping Antigone (for whom he has a soft spot) and Selah (who he often sees as unable to defend herself, despite her incredible psionic ability) from getting themselves hurt.

Re: Oblivion's Chars
Ayaka
- Spoiler:
- Photo/Image: https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v256/edge-of-infinity/Avatars/ayaka.png
Name: Ayaka Algoni Shadowsong [Name Meaning: "Colorful Flower"], alias Raquelle Dell'Ergoh [Name Meaning: "Ewe Lamb"]
Race: Half-Elf
Age: 54
Alignment: Lawful Good
Gender: Female
Hair Colour and Style: Blonde, mostly straight, shoulder length
Eye Colour: Dark Blue
Ht. & Wt.: 6', ~180 lbs
Theme Song: "Spell Sword" (Click here to listen)
Identifying Marks: None
General Appearance: Ayaka is a tall woman with a regal bearing, whose figure strongly reflects the military life she lives despite - or perhaps in spite of - her elven heritage. She is by no means wiry or wispy, but her elven blood does prevent her from being overly muscular, resulting in an athletic appearance toned by several years in martial service. Despite her age, she looks much younger than she really is - another blessing of her heritage, she is over fifty years old but barely looks to be out of her twenties. Her golden hair drapes down long over her shoulders, interrupted quite obviously by her pointed ears, which both bear absolutely no piercings. A simple leather sash holds most of it out of her face, keeping her vision unobstructed while also serving as protection to her head since she cannot wear a helmet. She is usually garbed in heavy leather armor, much stronger than that of her companions, and overlaid with still-heavier chainmail vest and leggings. Thick, dark leather gauntlets and boots complete the ensemble. Her broadsword always rests ready in an ornate scabbard at her hip, the latter decorated with countless elven sigils of protection, power, and luck.
In her bandit guise, her appearance changes dramatically. Raquelle is generally garbed in leather, rarely in metal armor of any sort, and her long lustrous red hair tends to stick out erratically as it sweeps down around her face and shoulders. Her right eye glitters a tantalizing emerald green, while her left is covered with an elaborate eyepatch adorned with a stylized drawing of an eye (Click here). She wears fingerless black leather gloves and high, heavy black boots, and a coiled whip with bladed barbs entwined in its tendrils rests on her belt.
Background: Ayaka was born to a young (relatively) elven woman and a human swordsman in a romantic dalliance that before she was even five years old was already put in great turmoil - the man was a scoundrel, and had left his previous lover when she too had become with child. The pregnancy was unusually difficult on the young elven maiden, even more so than half-human children generally are, and she ultimately died within a few days of Ayaka's birth. Her father, Lucius Algoni, was greatly sobered by the experience and resolved to redeem his life following the event by ensuring the orphaned half-elf a good life and a correction of his own erroneous actions. He returned to his ex-lover and newborn son Lucas, presenting them with the infant half-sister, and immediately joined the military and began sending funds back to his new wife Rachel, Lucas's mother. Though bitter, she eventually came to forgive and then love Lucius in return, and was greatly saddened when word was returned he'd perished in a battle with the vicious barbarians of the far north.
Lucas and Ayaka, knowing very little of their father's roguish youth, saw him only as a patriotic man who had volunteered to fight and ultimately die in the name of his kingdom and both sought to emulate him as much as possible. Despite their differing heritages and Ayaka's slower maturity due to her half-elven nature, the two were extremely close as children and have remained such throughout their lives. It was no surprise to anyone who knew the pair well when both volunteered for the military themselves upon reaching their eighteenth year. Lucas tested exceptionally well and was placed in one of the most prestigious brackets of the army; Ayaka did not excel nearly as much, held back slightly by her lesser capability (for comparison, a twenty-year-old half-elf has about the same maturity level as a fifteen-year-old human, physically if not mentally), and was placed in a much lower unit.
Rather than be crushed by her failure, Ayaka found it necessary to prove herself just as good as her brother. She was one of the most dedicated soldiers in her unit, and after some time caught the notice of several superior officers for her exceptional drive even if not yet fueled by ability. After a few years ability at last caught up to desire, and at the age of twenty-three she was finally promoted out of her unit and placed under Lucas's command, who by then had become a Captain in his own right. Serving under Lucas proved to be the best situation for her, as the two continued to work well together and their unit became known as one of the most successful squads in the entire military. Ayaka was eventually promoted to an officer position as well, and by the time the two were twenty-five Lucas had become a General - the youngest ever in the kingdom - and Ayaka a Lieutenant.
It was at this time that Ayaka received a covert notice directly from the king himself - she had been granted the unique position of The Communicator. The Communicator was a semi-legendary figure of the king's advisory staff - a master of stealth and subterfuge, his identity unknown to all save the king himself, his word trusted unconditionally. Easily the most dangerous position in the kingdom to anyone else, and a death sentence at the hands of anyone who opposed the king if your identity was revealed. The post was passed from person to person unknowingly upon resignation so that ex-Communicators did not even know the identities of their successors or predecessors. She was to continue her position as Lieutenant, but at the same time master a ring of spies who neither knew her identity nor each others', and she none of theirs.
Ayaka for a short time simply watched and reported what little she saw, but she could never quite get over the feeling that she wasn't noticing something a Communicator should be able to see and report, and in doing so was failing in her post. She resolved to find a way to root out the enemies of the kingdom, and in short time found that way - she would become an enemy of the kingdom herself. Disguising herself with a magic eyepatch that made her blonde hair red, which she then wore down thick to cover her ears, and turned her other eye green, she dubbed herself Raquelle Dell'Ergoh (the name being a variant on Rachel, her stepmother's name) and gave herself the title of The Bandit Queen. She quickly gained a notorious reputation as a scoundrel, a brigand, and an outlaw, and posters with sketches of her pseudonym's appearance began springing up all over the kingdom. Likewise, ruffians and troublemakers of all sorts were drawn to Dell'Ergoh's banner, either as competition or as allies, and she quickly narrowed down the field between the two, systematically defeating every other form of opposition to the kingdom and either destroying it or incorporating it into her own machine. In time, she was the most feared and most wanted criminal in the entire kingdom, and as such she knew everything there was to know about the criminal underworld. As The Communicator, every bit of this information was fed directly to the king's hand.
Before Dell'Ergoh could make her move, and Ayaka arrange to have her "captured" and her forces subdued, a world-shaking event interrupted. The constellations above sundered the sky, turning massive parts of the night sky black as pitch as the stars crashed from the heavens to earth. An ancient seal holding a forgotten power - The Zodiac - had been broken, releasing the twelve components of the Zodiac. In turn, a second seal fueled by their power had opened, releasing an even more dangerous being: Draco, the Dark Dragon.
Almost immediately after his arrival on earth, Draco managed to ingrate himself to the King, providing his ageless and alien wisdom to advise the monarch. Ayaka did not trust the dragon, and voiced her concerns to Lucas, who shared her anxiety but swore his loyalty to king and country and said he would continue to serve until it became clear Draco meant ill for the kingdom. Still distrustful of the monster, Ayaka decided to delay her plans for Raquelle and her band of scoundrels, using the excuse that it was stupid to follow through with her original plans now that the kingdom had a DRAGON on its side. Her followers easily saw the logic of this plan, those few that hadn't wanted to try and sway the Bandit Queen in that direction in the first place. For assurance, she as the Communicator passed orders to her spies to infiltrate Dell'Ergoh's organization unnoticed and send her periodic reports of the goings-on, as well as to keep close tabs on Draco, but to act on neither until she gave the order.
From Dell'Ergoh's outside vantage point, and with the reports of her spies (who, thanks to them noticing one another acting suspiciously and reporting it to her, she was able to identify most of) Ayaka was able to see things that it seemed Lucas missed. Draco quickly was becoming the true power behind the throne, reverting the king to a mere figurehead, and the main arms of that power were being shifted from the military and the Communicator to Draco's quest to gather the Zodiac and awaken their ancient power and a royal band of scouts and assassins led by Grandmaster Sceva now acting as Draco's personal killers. Former prisoners of the kingdom, many convicted criminals, were placed into this unit by Draco, including the megalomaniacal scientist and wizard Gerard Alco, the terrorist Esau, and the insurrectionists Demas Markert and Titus Draeven. As much as Lucas displayed discomfort at some of these acts, though, he continued to fulfill his duties as a general under the king's commands, even though to Ayaka it was painfully obvious that those demands were actually coming from Draco.
As a result, much of the kingdom's actions towards their civilian populace became stricter and eventually quite brutal. Martial law became common, and "investigators" - Markert and Draeven easily two of the most infamous of these - began assaulting people for implied, assumed, or outright falsified crimes. As a result Dell'Ergoh's organization began attracting new members not looking for criminal activity but rather safety from the kingdom's brutality and the possibility of rebellion against the harsh rule brought on by Draco's arrival. Among the many that came seeking her aid were Tyra Revail, a young adventurer, and Silastrennon Orridian, the leader of the Excavator's Guild, now put nearly out of business by Draco barring anyone but royal agents from exploring the many ruins that dotted the kingdom... presumably to prevent anyone but he from gaining access to the secrets of the Zodiac. Ayaka's plans quickly began to come together.

Re: Oblivion's Chars
Ayaka's Bio, con't
- Spoiler:
- History, con't: The first thing she did was slowly begin to turn Raquelle's criminal activity away from profit and more towards rebellion. Theft and the like still were the order of the day, but the targets now were almost exclusively royal, military, or intelligence in nature. Secondly she had the Communicator report conflicting information to the king, who would then pass that information on to Draco, who more often than not would act quickly on the erroneous information. In the chaos that generally resulted, Dell'Ergoh's followers would usually stir greater disruption.
Lucas, still swearing fealty to the king despite his ever-growing concern for the strangeness of Draco's orders, took it upon himself to put down Dell'Ergoh's rebellion for good. He confided his plans in Ayaka only, not knowing he was telling his plan directly to his foe, and thus when he burst into their hiding place they were ready and mounted fierce resistance. The rebels won the day, but several of their number were captured, among them Tyra and Silas. Thus, Lucas decided to force them to help him with some problems with the plan. While he had a force attack more directly in a second charge on the hideout, he and his two captives slipped behind the front lines to attack unexpectedly at Raquelle herself; this plan he didn't even share with his sister, worried that if he told anyone the information might spread as it had before, apparently not even the castle was safe from prying ears. The ruse succeeded, but as Raquelle revealed upon meeting her would-be assassins through her own design - she suspected (knowing Lucas well) that he would attempt a counterattack for his previous failure, and using Tyra and Silas as either bait or fodder he would try to attack directly while her forces were distracted. The Bandit Queen had her remaining bodyguards lock the door to her chamber, trapping her with Tyra, Silas, Lucas, and the white knight Apollos, who had come to aid Lucas - an old acquaintance - as well as see if there was more to the story than Lucas on one side or his captives on the other truly comprehended.
Tyra and Silas refused to aid Lucas in his fight against the Bandit Queen, and Apollos took their side this time, stating he had come to learn and not to kill a woman before she was properly judged, leaving Lucas to battle Raquelle one-on-one. The pair dueled for some time, the Bandit Queen trading in her typical whip for a crystal-bladed sword which seemed somehow familiar to the enemy general, and her fighting tactics were so similar to those used by his own military that he often found himself off-guard against this own techniques. At the last he finally spotted an opening - one Raquelle had put there deliberately, to force him to end the fight - and Lucas finished the battle by striking the Bandit Queen not with a sudden parry and thrust of his blade but rather a vicious uppercut that sent her careening backwards... and knocked off her eyepatch in the process, disrupting the magic that maintained Ayaka's disguise. Only momentarily caught by surprise that the infamous Dell'Ergoh was in fact none other than his own sister, Lucas quickly declared her a traitor and attempted to arrest her, but was quickly convinced by Apollos that Ayaka would not have performed this elaborate deception without good reason. At last Lucas relented and allowed Ayaka to explain her problems with the bandits, with being the Communicator, with Draco, and with the situation of the kingdom. At last, Lucas saw the dire situation he was in, and immediately renounced his loyalty to the king, declaring that the king and Draco had first betrayed their people. He aligned himself with Augustus, the king's son and heir, who shortly returned from afar with a centurion file of soldiers, and his sister Summer, providing the rebellion a strong foothold on the monarchy with which they could honestly promise a just and rightful ruler once Draco was deposed.
The battles against the Dark Dragon and his followers, later known as the Draco War or the First War of the Four, quickly became legendary. Draco, aided by a demihuman stranger from the distant north named Fenrir and a vile white dragon named Vyper who considered herself Draco's Prophet, Draco eventually obtained the power of the Zodiac against all the hopes of the rebellion, deposed the king himself, and set about to conquer the world using the kingdom as his base. In one final strike, the rebels divided into two units - one much larger, led by Ayaka along with Augustus, a naval admiral named Josef Mandar, and a cavalry captain named Mikel Domau, consisting of deserted kingdom military along with Dell'Ergoh's rebels; the other a small strike team led by Tyra and consisting of her, Silas, Lucas, and Apollos. The former held siege to the palace city where Draco was holed up and kept his legions occupied while the latter worked their way into the depths of Draco's sanctum, destroyed his lieutenants (save Titus Draeven, who was captured), and slew the Dark Dragon.
Following the Draco War, Lucas retired from the military to marry Princess Summer, Augustus rose to the throne, and all seemed to be at peace. Ayaka remained in the military, although ather command and Augustus's indulgence the position of Communicator was abolished, and the spies once under their command set directly under the king. Such was so for about five years, then once again chaos broke loose as the Second War of the Four began - the Reign of Seth, the Machine Lord.
Starting with his attack on the fringe town of Cerbolt, Seth's mechanical and cybernetic hordes quickly overwhelmed the kingdom like a plague, infecting and assimilating anyone they came across - the machines endowing even the eldest or most unskilled commoner with more than enough combat capability to stand up to military soldiers and win - while the best the military could do was hold them at bay at key positions. It was at this time that Ayaka, promised a promotion to General if she desired it, instead informed Augustus that she wanted to form an elite, pseudo-military unit that operated on its own, independently, against such grave threats as Draco and Seth, much like Tyra, Silas, Lucas, and Apollos had during the last war. The unit she suggested was titled DIREA, for their order of operations: Diplomacy, Investigation, Reconnaissance, Espionage, Assault. Augustus, seeing the wisdom in a small unit such as this, agreed to the plan and told Ayaka to use her best judgement in selecting members.
She quickly set her sights of Lucas's energetic and enthusiastic young adopted daughter, Antigone. Though knowing little of the Cerboltans other than Antigone was the last and only free-willed one after Seth's attack, Antigone was intelligent, quick to master new objectives, and had exceptional skill in unarmed combat. She was also interested in Apollos's whimsical son Daventhalas and Antigone's cousin Selah, daughter of Summer's sister Winter. She devised a plan to sabotage a transport carrying the trio, dropping them behind Seth's control, and set several of her former spies, now scouts for the army, to watch them and intervene if it seemed things were getting out of hand. The precaution proved unnecessary, though, as the group managed to battle their way out of danger and reach civilization safely. Ayaka confronted the group there and congratulated them on a job well done, explained what had happened and why, and at last extended the invitation of membership in DIREA to all three. Antigone and Daven accepted immediately, and Selah did likewise with a little persuasion.
Like Tyra and her team before them, Ayaka's unit began independently striking against Seth's weak points while the army - led once again by Augustus and an out-of-retirement Lucas - kept his main forces occupied. It wasn't long until they were able to strike directly at the Machine Lord and his right hand, Argolas. In the ensuing battle both Seth and Argolas were wounded and much of Seth's control over his army was broken, rendering those machines inoperative and returning many of the cyborgs their free will. While the rest of the kingdom celebrated their victory, Ayaka knew full and well that an evil like Seth was never truly gone until it was outright destroyed, and when Antigone proposed that DIREA pursue the fiend into parts unknown Ayaka was quick to add her own acquiescence. Not long later, in the midst of the victorious rabble, the quad disappeared into the distance, bound for lands unknown.
Pets: None
Special Abilities: Ayaka's most significant ability is her skill as a Spellsword, a spellcasting warrior who can channel their magic through their weapon and cast magic while wearing armor without the interference expected from such heavy encumbrance. Her sword, as with most kingdom spellswords, is designed to amplify such effects (see below). Ayaka has a fondness for ice (Xyts) and lightning (Tesla) magic but is proficient with all sorts except healing.
As Raquelle her powers don't change, although to hide her position in the military she prefers to simply cast magic while playing the Bandit Queen rather than channel it through her weapon. The eyepatch she wears is the source of her disguise - it produces a powerful spell that transforms her appearance when worn, turning her hair red, her eyes green, and transforming her sword into a bladed whip. Its abilities do not change in this shape (except the type of damage it causes).
Weapons: Ayaka's Spellblade is a traditional weapon of kingdom spellswords. The hilt is of masterwork steel decorated with silver and gold, but the blade is one hundred percent arcanum crystal, a powerful stone that is stronger than steel and harder than diamond. So strong is it that it cannot be forged, the only thing that can make it hot enough to be malleable is magic fire; and even then no hammer can shape it, it must be forged by the wizard's will. Every spellsword forges their own Spellblade, and in so doing attunes the arcanum crystal to their magic and their magic alone, so that if their weapon is stolen it will not function as a Spellblade to anyone else (although it still makes a darn fine sword in its own right). Ayaka's is a standard longsword design, with a finely-crafted elven hilt and a blade only slightly longer than normal.
Personality: For the most part, Ayaka is friendly and personable, but when the time is right she can become all business. She takes her position in the military very seriously, although that position has allowed her much more leniency since being given permission to start and run DIREA, resulting in her relaxing somewhat even when "on the job". She never loses sight of her unit's overall goal of Seth's extermination, and her elven heritage makes her near-infinitely patient with the amount of time it's taken to accomplish such a task. She has a dry sense of humor and is known for having a biting wit when she wants to.

Name: Isaac d'ar Obscuras [Name Meaning: "Laughter"]
Race: Shadowtouched Penumbran
Age: ~100
Alignment: Neutral Evil
Gender: Male
Hair Colour and Style: White, wavy, short
Eye Colour: Black
Ht. & Wt.: 5' 7", ~130 lbs.
Theme Song:
Identifying Marks: Runes adorn the skin of his neck in a band that from a distance resembles a black choker. These are normally hidden by his clothes, though, as the picture shows.
General Appearance: Wraith-like in appearance, Isaac from a distance is unimpressive. Nearly albino, his skin is excessively pale and his wavy hair is stark white. The only thing, at first, that counters the assumption that he might be an albino is the fact that the irises of his eyes are as black as the pupils. A black scarf is almost always wrapped around his face so as to cover everything below the nose, including his neck. He typically dresses is dark robes and cloaks consisting of black, blue, red, and grey, and carries a simple staff of black wood, tipped with a claw-like bundle of roots that tightly grips a transparent, colorless crystal.
Background:
Pets: An albino owl named Gloaming serves as Isaac's familiar. She, as a result, has human-level intellect (or above, both have come to think from time to time), but little combat capability; she defends Isaac only when absolutely necessary, as the ritual that made her his familiar and gave her her intelligence and personality will kill her if he dies. She can speak to him through their mental link, but cannot form words with her beak so as to speak normally. Her alignment is Lawful Evil. "Gloaming" means "twilight" or "dusk".
