She was getting close, Clause kept his mouth shut, not wanting to go too far, he needed to put on a show, but he also needed to make sure she succeeded. He knew that he would be in sight of her now... she was doing good, but the bridge was disappearing a bit quicker... as long as she kept up that pace she would be fine... He watched her... holding on, hoping...

[Lady Lara]

Continuing forward still... her nerves were so shot, she just wanted to race across now. However, she knew what would happen if she let both of her feet off the bridge at the same time. Her muscles were starting to ache now, with how much she was shaking. She slowed down a bit without realising that she had slowed down. So, she continued to the end, but she had actually slowed down so much that the disappearing bridge caught up to her. She leaned forward to catch the rope that still existed, but it only worked for a couple more steps.

That was when she felt how much her body weighed. She fell, very quickly mind you, but was able to catch the land on the other side. Her muscles were so worn by her nerves that she really had to work at pulling herself up. The worst part, was getting both her arms up. Once her shoulders were at least at the same level as the ground, she'd be able to swing a leg up, then pull the rest of herself up. "Fuck, fuck, fuck..." she repeated, still keeping her eyes on the land. She knew Clause was on this side somewhere, but she had been so focussed on getting across that she hadn't noticed him yet. She could hear the beasts below, encouraging her to just let go. To just let herself fall so that her muscles wouldn't hurt anymore.

Riley didn't like the idea of torture. Nor was a slow, painful death on her priority list anywhere. Slowly but surely, she managed to pull herself up, and jumped away from the edge. Once she was at least ten feet away, she hugged her legs, and looked back at the gorge, and the non-existent bridge. That little experience did not help her fear at all. Now, whenever she saw cliffs or gorges back home, she'd imagine thousands of demons waiting for her at the bottom.

Seeing her slow down, Clause started to panic... no... she couldn't fail... not now... he was about to run to her... catch her, she just needed to reach the other side, he would have to endure pain for a long time... but it didn't matter to him, she was going to survive... however, he seen her, as she fell she managed to grab the edge... once more, he wanted to grab her arms, pull her up... but he had faith... he watched her as she climbed up and run away from the edge, the moment both of her feet were on the ground daylight appeared... the darkness dissipated... he smiled. "You... you did it!" he exclaimed... letting a slightly joyous tone go in his voice.

"Yay for me." she said, her voice shaking with her muscles. She didn't have any enthusiasm at the moment, but once she calmed down, she'd be able to be happy for succeeding. Now, however, it would be impossible if she had to do the same thing to get back to the other side. She knew she wouldn't make it, unless she had time to fully recover her nerves. Either way, even when daylight returned, she still felt like she was lost in darkness. She wished desperately that he had a nicer way of her getting back across to the castle. Unless, this gorge ended somewhere nearby. Otherwise, she was not about to get up and run anywhere.

Clause looked down at her, he moved forward... "Aww... little Wolfie not able to move..." he said, taunting her... he still needed to put on a show... "Hm... come here..." he said offering his hand to her. "If you will allow me, I can fly you back... you can get some rest before tonight..." he said. "A full moon, I know you might want to go for a run... you earned it..." he said. He let a bit of kindness go through his voice, knowing that she needed some sort of friend right now. "You won't even notice we are flying, you can even close your eyes if you wish." he said.

[Lady Lara]

"I don't need rest. I have all the energy I'll need for another week right now. Just get me to the other side, and I'll be good." Riley answered, her voice sounding a little more calm this time. She slid herself away from the gorge edge a bit more, then used a tree to help her stand up. Yes, she had completely ignored Clause's offering hand, but it came naturally to ignore such nice gestures. They came so rarely that she forgot to notice them when they actually came by. She carefully moved closer to him, getting nervous again just by looking at the sudden drop, and where she was just moments ago fighting for her life. "Whatever you do, do not try to be funny when you carry me to the other side. Once I'm on solid ground, I don't care. Just don't fuck with me when I have nowhere to run."

Clause looked her in the eyes. "I wouldn't do that..." he said quietly. "I won't do anything... you can trust me..." he said, the master wasn't watching anymore... he lost interest once he seen that she passed the test. He moved fairly quickly, lifting her up in his arms. His wings beat slowly, softly, carrying them both over the gorge. He looked down at her. "It's hard to act like I hate you... but I think he is starting to catch on... if he does... it might get a bit... well... you might not see me as much..." he said. Clause landed on the other side, safe and sound, a lot of distance between her and the gorge... however, now... it seemed empty... the demons were gone... as if they only existed while the test was taking place.

[Lady Lara]

She whispered this to him, "Thank you." once they reached the other side. Riley needed her wolf side for a while. She'd definately help her calm down, now that she didn't have to worry about the gorge, nor the demons and beasts that waited at the bottom of it. She felt like kissing the ground, she was so happy to be on something solid. At least, something that felt solid. For all she knew, this whole forest could be an illusion. "Got anything around here that I can hunt?" she asked, thinking there might not be much during the daylight, but she really needed to satisfy her vampire needs. Her wolf didn't need much. Just freedom most of the time.

Clause nodded, "There are, but nothing very tasty..." he said. "Also... the blood you need... might be a bit hard to come by... the creatures here... well... by the time they reach here, their veins are bone dry..." he said. "Most creatures are no longer alive... just twisted versions of what they once were, demons of creatures that once lived in your realm... the only creatures with fresh blood running through their veins are you, me, and the master..." he said. "You can try hunting the other demons... but it won't be very filling..." he said.

[Lady Lara]

"Damn it." she mumbled. "Is there anything that I can just have some fun with? Can you send one of the beasts after me, and see what happens? I'd like to run in my wolf form for a bit." Riley told him, "Either we fight, or me and another beast fight. I need something to rid some of this energy with." It was true. She had way too much energy right now to be able to calm down and actually enjoy her evening. She was glad that the test was done so quickly, but it took a lot of mind power to complete the getting across the gorge part.

Clause thought for a moment. "How about I fight you... a little friendly spar... no silver, no kissing to drain your energy..." he said. "If you beat me, you can take all the blood you need from me..." he said. "But if I win, I give you another little good night kiss tonight after you are finished with your little run..." he said. "You taste nice..." he said with a little smile. "Plus this will give you a chance to actually show me what you can do..." he said.

[Lady Lara]

Riley grinned, not having expected that he would take the challenge. "Sounds like a deal." she wouldn't be able to fight in her wolf form, if he really wanted to see what she could do, but it would definately rid some of her energy. She walked further, deeper into the forest, making sure to keep a mental eye on him. She knew his scent, so she'd be able to keep track of him at all times. That was, unless he knew some sort of trick that would throw his scent in the other direction to confuse her. She turned to face him, but continued walking around and between the trees. "So, show me watcha got, buddy boy." she said, her grey eyes watching him intently.

Clause smiled he landed in the open, curious as to how strong she really was... he had a chance to stare her down with a little smile. "This is gonna be fun Wolfie... no tricks from me either... believe me when I say I'm a bit off if I don't have any little tricks to rely on..." he said. "Don't hold back... you can't kill me here..." he said.

[Lady Lara]

"It's not in my nature to attack when you're paying attention to me." Riley told him, walking toward him casually, as if a few rounds of conversation were about to begin. "However, when sparring, I can make a small exception." Of course, during daylight she couldn't use the shadows to her advantage, so she had to deal without. Just as she got within range, she took one more step forward, and threw a punch into his side where his ribs would stick out. It wasn't much, but they had to start somehow. Her punches probably had at least one ton of force behind it. Imagine a large car, falling to the ground from a crane, and the pull of gravity from that, equalled one punch from her fist. This was using her arm and shoulder muscles as well, so she had her maximum force.

((just a warning, I'm not very good at battling lol this is actually, only the second time I've rp'ed a battle. but I wanna give it a try. that cool?))

Clause stood, wanting to get a good judge of her power... he wanted to see how much force was behind those fists of hers. However, he was caught off guard... thought he withstood it with a little trouble, he looked to her a bit surprised. He had to move back slightly. He knew that he couldn't die here... but he still needed to be careful of her... "Strong girl..." he said. He then came forward with a kick aimed for her side. he figured he would only fight with about 75% of his full power, enough to give her a challenge, but he wouldn't kill her.

This battle reminded her of those training rounds she did before she began her job as a Guardian. Her boss forced her into this line of work, but he had known that she had more than enough ability to take on whatever was thrown at her. Her vision was perfect, and her only weaknesses were family and silver. Heights would definately take place in there somewhere too, but she was the perfect candidate for Guardian work. Training for police, detective, and undercover work, to deal with nonhuman incidents only. Why the title was Guardian, she had no idea, but at times when she was actually but on a case to protect the innocent, it damn well fit just fine.

Luckily, she saw the kick coming, and dropped to the ground. As soon as she felt his leg pass over her, she stood back up slightly, grabbed his ankle and twisted it in the direction that his momentum would make him lose his balance and fall onto his back. She knew her hands would hurt from the impact, but at least she avoided the blow and attempted a counterattack.

Her counter worked, tripping him up, to avoid falling flat on his face he crouched down. He gained a bit more momentum, trying to sweep her with his other leg.

He thought about it a bit more... what would happen if she didn't get the blood she needed... perhaps he would lose a kiss, but still, she needed blood... he would most likely let her win... that is, if she impressed him enough. He didn't want to seem like a pushover.

[Lady Lara]

Nobody had ever counterattacked any of her counterattacks before, so she hadn't expected the leg that swung at her ankles. She tripped, and fell onto her side, landing in such a way that it shocked her. With every minute that passed, Riley could feel the moon's energy. She knew that when she would turn tonight, she'd be going on a hunt. She just hoped that she could keep her common sense later, even with the bloodlust rising. She got back up quickly, taking one step out of range of any kicks. "Step it up, buddy boy. Your leg isn't going to hurt me." she laughed quietly, "You're move." and stanced herself for defense.

He laughed at her. "Good... this is actually pretty fun there Wolfie... Your a better fighter than I have seen in a long while..." he said. He crouched down, jumping, and flapping both of his wings down simultaneously. Allowing him to jump higher, he made it over her head and spun around, swinging one of his fists, before swinging around his leg again.

[Lady Lara]

"Stop calling me wolfie, or I'll start calling you wingy." she said, knowing it was a sad comeback, but didn't care. When he jumped over her, she ducked to make sure he didn't try kicking her in the head. Then, when she noticed that he was only jumping over her to swing his fist and leg at her in a different style, she jumped around him in the blink of an eye before he even landed. When just one of his feet did so much as tap the ground, she tilted her body horizontal, and aimed to slam her heel into his back.

Unable to correct his flying pattern, he felt her heel slam hard into his back, since he wasn't quite solid on the ground, it sent him flying a few feet as he landed on his face. He started to get back up. "Hmmm... I guess you have earned the right to some respect, Riley..." he said turning his head towards her. That was a good kick she got him with. With strength like her's he would be hard pressed to beat her. He was still struggling to get back up...

[Lady Lara]

"Only some?" she raised an eyebrow and walked over to him. Riley was willing to help him back up, but at the same time, they hadn't called truce yet. She stood about three feet away from him, listening to his movement very carefully. "You aren't fighting." she said after a bit, "I can tell you're holding back. Come on, Clause. Try to kill me. I dare ya." This was usually the point where she slipped her laser gun out and killed the bastard, but seeing as she didn't have any of her weapons with her, she had no choice but to see what he'd do next.

[Chaosmazer]

"I... I can't... full power when fighting is very dangerous... I might lose control..." he said. As she approached him. "Besides... 75% is still very powerful..." he said... he looked up. "It's a little more than twice a human that has been training their whole life..." He started to stand up, recovering a bit. "Truce? Or would you like to go on a bit more?" he asked her, he still had some fight left it him it seemed.

[Lady Lara]

"Just more than twice a human..." she raised an eyebrow in disbelief. "That's not very strong." after a moment, she shrugged her shoulders, agreeing with him. "Yeah, let's truce. Full power is definately very dangerous." her voice almost sounded sarcastic, even though she was not using sarcasm. Then, an idea came to mind. It was probably a bad idea, but she couldn't help it when lack of blood started to mess with her mind. "Hey, how about we race back to that window? No looking back until we get inside." she smiled slyly, but tried to make her smile look more like she was just excited about her idea.

Clause looked to her curiously. "Alright..." he said, she did technically win... he wondered when she would take up what she had won. Though now, he was wondering what her intent was... right now he didn't care... he was actually having fun... though, he did fib a bit about his power... he didn't want to scare her... "A race it is then..." he said. "And no looking back..." he said wondering what exactly she was up to still. "Alright... go!" he said as he started running...
