On The Brightside (See Open RP section for Details.) Gen2
Left there in his hometown Genesis couldn’t help but feel incredibly calm, everything was so calming. Everything smelt like ash, and he had a feeling it would continue to smell like this for a long time. He opened his eyes and looked up at the blue sky. He clenched his fist around the Banora white apple in his hand. A gift from a ‘friend’ or at least, he guessed, he could refer to him as a friend now. He had nothing against the guy; he had even saved his life, and risked his own to save the one he loved. It was... admirable to say the least. Genesis had to respect him for that. He let out a sigh and tried to move his legs. He still hurt but there were no external wounds. Closing his eyes again he tried to pinpoint his injuries as he had been trained to do. A broken rib, a broken arm and a broken heart. His goddess had abandoned him. He was declined what he had always wanted but, he was thinking now that he was fine with it. He could live without it. He opened his eyes again, a storm was rolling in he could see the clouds above and he suddenly wondered how Zack was doing, whether or not he was alright. And this thought sent a terribly throbbing sensation through his head. He doubled over and dropped the apple grabbing his head ignoring the pain in his ribs. Something was going to go wrong. They were both going to die. He knew he, he owed Zack so much for saving his life. He had to do something.

As it started to rain Genesis pushed himself to his feet unable to take this anymore having to find out exactly what happened. He always believed his instincts and he knew if he didn’t move fast enough both of the two would be dead soon. It was a terrible thought, and it was even hard to get himself to believe that Zack could possibly die, he couldn’t it wasn’t possible; the seemingly immortal Zack Fair couldn’t just up and die. He started moving, Midgar would be a long walk and he would have to hope that they hadn’t gotten too far.

They hadn’t. Within an hour Genesis couldn’t believe what he was seeing even though it was lying right before him. Zack bleeding on the ground, multiple bullet holes in his chest. Blood ran down his face, chest and arms and he was just barely breathing. He was staring up at the sky when Genesis knelt down beside him. “Z-Zack...what happened?” he asked the tan skinned man bleeding to death right in front of him, though his blue eyes continued to shine. Zack looked at Genesis, he tensed for a moment, wincing from pain before he went back to his shallow breathing, “That doesn’t matter...Just...go protect Cloud. Genesis...I beg of you.” It was the dying man’s last request. Genesis was choking up; he didn’t think he would ever get so emotional just watching someone die. But there was something about Zack that just...made everyone love him. It was just in his personality, in the way he was. Genesis felt as though he was going to cry. Glad, though, that if he did the rain would shield his tears from view. “Of course...” Genesis replied. “He-hey...don’t sound so down about this. In our line of work...it’s bound to happen. There’s something I do remember from that book of yours too.” Zack explained taking his eyes off the sky and looking at Genesis. Genesis blinked a couple times his frown turning into one of questioning, Zack was going to quote Genesis favourite book LOVELESS, something that Genesis had done every day of his life. And he already knew what Zack was going to say before he said it. “Even if the morrow is barren of promises...nothing shall forestall my return.” Zack said closing his eyes and Genesis nodded as he watched Zack’s breathing slow to a stop. When he was sure it was over he sighed deeply and a single tear fell down his cheek. Zack was not someone people were going to forget anytime soon. Genesis picked up the large sword Zack carried and stuck it into the ground a few feet from Zack’s head. He looked like an angel. But right now Genesis had to go find Cloud.

It took him a surprisingly short amount of time to find the form of Cloud, passed out against a rock formation, looking as pathetic as usual. His eyes were open and his mouth hung open but he was breathing, a little. Genesis sucked in a sharp breath. He suddenly felt like crying again and he wondered what the hell was wrong with him why was he being such a softy right now. It was so odd for him to be like this and he knew that. He sighed, “It’s alright...I’ll take care of you.” Genesis said as he picked up the rather small body, lean and strong, but small and fragile. Genesis winced at the pain through his body, but he had to endure. He had been trained to endure, one death shouldn’t be affecting him more than the wounds he had right now. It made him feel weak, he was surely nothing like the powerful egotistical maniac he had been mere days ago. Before his goddess abandoned him and he was saved by the man who nearly killed him.

He carried Cloud back to the house, his house, the one he had planned to stay at while in Banora. He managed to get the small man up the tall staircase and into Genesis’s old bedroom, a room he hadn’t been in for years. It was very nostalgic, despite the smell of fire on everything and the burnt wood here and there it looked a lot like how he had left it when he was little. When he went to the big city to find work. He laid Cloud down the bed and sat down next to him sighing with some relief glad he wasn’t carrying around the blond anymore. He didn’t know exactly how the drugs in Cloud’s system were affecting him but he assumed he could hear and he could comprehend words spoken to him, that or Zack was insane. Genesis frowned down at the young man, “Don’t worry, Zack went to Midgar to get a doctor...for you and for me. So I’ll take care of you Cloud... Don’t worry.” He said his voice was upset very upset but he couldn’t keep that sort of edge out of his voice. At least for now the two of them were safe.

It was about a week after Zack’s death, it hadn’t rained in Banora since that day and Genesis was feeling much better, his wounds didn’t bother him nearly as much and he found that he could walk, especially now that he had a purpose. He was there to protect Cloud. He had to protect him, for Zack’s sake. He was sure though that the young man would be very pleased with how Genesis was treating this new ‘job’ of his. He had been doing his best. Feeding Cloud the juice of the Banora white apple was all he could manage to do when it came to food, but he washed Cloud and made sure he was alright that a fever wasn’t emerging as a side effect of the drug overdose that caused this vegetable like state and talking to him every day, telling him a few stories about the city and the house that they were staying in. He hoped that Cloud could hear him, though he was getting more and more of a response every day, and recently the young man had started to respond. He could move slightly and talk, though his speech was very sluggish and quiet. He was getting better though and he was sure Zack would be very please.

Today Genesis was going to try and see if he could get Cloud to actually eat. He had a bunch of the blue apples in his arms and he was carrying them back to his old house, the largest house in the city, and one of the only buildings left standing. He walked in and up the stairs he had his brown hair which had grown quite a bit pinned out of his face and tied up into a small ponytail something he would normally never do but had found himself doing more and more lately. It was just more convenient and he would probably continue to do it until he could find something to cut it with. He would have to find some time to search the house. He walked into his old bedroom where Cloud was staying and smiled softly. He had grown a soft spot for the young man over the past week or so. He could really see why Zack fell for him. His features were soft and blemish free his skin a very nice shade. Then his eyes...his eyes were enough to push anyone over the edge. Because of the sort of drug he was overdosed on he had glowing blue eyes very literally glowing blue eyes. He wasn’t the only one Genesis knew that had eyes like this for the same reason. Zack had had them, but Zack’s immune system was more equipped to fight off this sort of intruding drug since he had been used to it for much longer. Genesis too had eyes like this glowing blue, for the same reason but his situation was much like if not exactly the same as Zack’s where he was introduced to the drug when he was young and to the point where he wouldn’t get addicted to it. And when the body got used to it, it was not an addictive drug anyway. These eyes just seemed to suit Cloud so much better. It was probably his hair that made it seem so nice though.

“Hello Cloud...” he said as he walked in just to see that the other person was asleep. He smiled and sighed through his nose shaking his head slightly. He was fine with it Cloud deserved all the rest he could get now. He walked over to the bed and put the bunch of apples down on the bed side table before he sat down on the edge of it. He ran his hand through Cloud’s hair for a moment; he looked so peaceful as though practically nothing was wrong, Genesis didn’t have the heart to tell him what had happened to Zack and he continued to build up the lie that Zack was finding them a doctor. Genesis himself was much weaker then he would have liked, getting tired from miniscule amounts of walking it was nothing like the powerful man he had at one point been. It infuriated him to no end that he was reduced to this. He sighed preferring not to think about it though. He rested his gloved hand on Cloud’s shoulder and shook him lightly, “Hey Cloud...wake up, I’ve got some food for you if you’d like to try it.” He said in a rather quiet voice wanting Cloud to wake up but also not wanting to disturb him.

Alright...so I put a bit up for this one already...I can change the name of Cloud to something else if you want to but this will make life easier for now...this is about 400 times easier to follow then my 'explanation' I've already put up...
