Re: The Outlaws of England (Reserved)
Hearing the foot steps up the stairs Desiree was a bit nervous her heart was beating quickly and she was getting ready to jump out of the bed and alert to the guards who would not be too far. Many of them already feeling guilty that they hadn’t seen her attack, were sticking close to her now.
She swallowed hard could it be the former Baron of Kent? No that would be impossible but she was still nervous but as soon as she saw that it was Justin, well Baron Greystone she relaxed, that meant that more then likely the King and Queen were off somewhere making love.
She was about to greet him but it seemed that he thought she was sleeping. She watched as he closed the door and knowing that there would be guards around Desiree felt that it was safer to fall asleep. So covering herself with a thin blanket she feel asleep her face still towards the door but she was clearly exhausted for she was dead to the world. Someone could more then likely come in and attack her or to watch her. But then again there were the guards around. So it was very unlikely that someone would be able to get into attack her. But there was always the side door that led into the spare room that Justin was more then likely where Justin was.
She wasn’t sure how long she was asleep but she woke with a start and sat up quickly in the bed and she suddenly felt the floor rushing to her but she wasn’t falling she rubbed her head. And opened her eyes to see what arouse her.

Justin stripped down to his shirt and breaches and pants. A servent picked his clothes and sword up and hung them up and a nother brought in a tray with a bottle of wine and glass. After the servents left, he poured himself a glass of wine and sipped it. He was tired, very tired. It had been a very busy few days and he had been riding all over the countryside, as well as going to court, and only a few hours of sleep. But he had been able to deny John tax money, stolen church property and gain control of a very wealthy barony.
He would have to assign one of his men to the overseaing of the new barony and it's troops. They would come in very handy when the time came to bring John down. When that would be he had no idea. But he would be prepared for it. Even though he was tired he still did not feel the need for sleep just yet. He was a bit restless so decided to take a walk, but he didn't get far.
He heard the kings voice talking to the guards and then he saw him outside of Desiree's room. The King seemed to have had a bit to much to drink. He pitted the queen. She seemed like a good person and had fallen in love with the wrong man. The guards left and the king was about to open the door. Justin knew that his quarters opened up to Desiree's room. Why she had been put there he had no idea but it was about to be his way to stop John from taking advantage of Desiree. He quickly crossed to the door and opened it and then before the king could finally get the door opened, he opened the door, to face the king.
"Oh Your magisty." he acted surprised. "John jerked his head up in surprise. "Justin...." he weaved back and forth. "Are you alright your magisty? Do you need some assistance?"
John staggered back, shaking his head. "Quite alright." he said and stumbled down the hall way a bit, mumbling. Justin shook his head and sighed.

Laying there listening to the guards and the other voice she was filled with dred Desiree knew who was there, the King, and he had been drinking she figured out. She shook in her bed. How was she supposed to get away now? She was in her room; it was heresy to deny the king what he wanted. But she was a maiden, never being laid, and she loved her Queen. Any gifts that the King had given her she claiming that she wasn’t fit for them. But really she was just disgust they had grown up as siblings and now he wanted to bed her, to take away her innocence.
But something else was amiss in the darkness of the room she could tell that there was someone there, but she couldn’t figure out whom. As soon as she heard Justin talk she almost stopped breathing. Her heart was beating and she attempted to pretend that she was asleep while she listened to what was happening. He had saved her from the Drunken king she was so relived she could have jumped up and ran to him. But instead she remained there until she heard the King stumble away. She then sat up and made sure that she was covered then spoke into the darkness. “I hate it when he is drunk, I was worried that he would succeed in bedding me this time, I thank you Baron Grey Stone”
She had a feeling the Queen had him in that room, just for this reason to protect her from her husband. Desiree reached over and reached for him but she was too far away still. So she took her arm back and brought her knees to her chin “The King does not like to hear the word no, but I don’t want to hurt my Queen” She sighed. “Forgive me you must be tired” She remained on her bed though. “You are my savior Baron Grey Stone, and I think you have earned yourself a walk tomorrow if you so wish” It would have to be cleared with her Queen but she couldn’t see a problem with it. She figured a walk would be a good reward, she had seen how he had looked at her and she hoped that a walk would satisfy his thirst. Although she did not understand why he was after her so much.

Re: The Outlaws of England (Reserved)
Justin heard Desiree's voice. He had hoped that she would have slept through the whole thing and he could have gotten out of her room with out being noticed. But that would not be the case for him. When she spoke of how she hated when he was drunk and how he had possibly tried bedding her before, made Justin even more angry at the King. He felt sorry for the queen. John always seemed to be going after the young women, be they married or single. She was a beautiful and young woman and a French woman at that. French women were said to know how to please a man and were more free with sex then English women.
Justin left the door to the hallway open. He did not want toungs to wag if any saw him in her room. He moved to where an oil lamp was and lit it, turning it up so the room had light. At least now if any saw him there, the door was open and a light in the room, so no one could saw something was going on. But to John something had been, and that is what Justin was wanting the King to think. Perhaps now he would leave Desiree alone for awhile. He smiled when she told him he was her saviour and that he had earned a walk in the garden on the morrow. "Ahhhh I will look forward to that walk." he told her grinning. He moved to the side of the bed and took her hand in his and kissed it. "Untill the morning then. I think it best if I return to my rooms and not have the servents talking and spreading rumors." He turned and he walked to the door and looked back as he began closing it.

Waiting in the dark Desiree’s heart was racing, tongues would wag over this fact of him being seen in her room after dark but she was surprised when he left the door open and then came by and turned up the oil. She smiled at him the bruising still visible but the swelling had gone down. She couldn’t believe that she had just offered to go walking with this man, sure he deserved it, protecting her one more night from denying the King what he wanted, and risk being charged with heresy, even though they had grown up together he still treated it in his drunkenness. Luckily he had forgotten it by the next day but Desiree still lived with the fear that her disdain for the King would be found out and she would be put to the death.
When he agreed to the walk she felt herself blush which confused her. She didn’t even like this man, sure he was good looking, but he was a supporter of the King and now with the rewards he had been given he would support the King even more. But then he had protected her from the King tonight, it was all confusing she knew that her service to the Queen came first and she was to be into the Queens service until death or the Queen released her.
As he kissed her hand she caught the scar again she looked up at him with a questioning look but before she could ask him about it he was heading to the door. She nodded “Till morning then” She crawled under the blankets and fell asleep. The light was stll on and door open but she was exhausted and clearly needed some sleep. In the morning she would have to find some way to ask the Queen permission to take the Baron for a walk, unless Justin did it first of course.

Re: The Outlaws of England (Reserved)
He made sure she was ok and falling back asleep before he closed the door and sought out a couple of his men. They would take turns checking on her door through out the night. He hoped that the king would fall asleep in a drunken stupor before long and he would not have to again make it look as if he was with Desiree in her room. Though he would not mind if it were true. She was desirable and she was french as well. Once he was satisfied that he would be notified if something happened he returned to his own room.
It was not long before he himself fell asleep. A comfortable bed, sheets and pillows, it was no wonder it did not take long. When he awoke in the morning he dressed and checked with his men. Nothing else had happened during the night and he told the two to get some rest for it would probably be the same that night as well. He was down to the main hall of the mannor house wher the king and queen were already having breakfast. "Ahhhhhhh Baron, come join us." the king called out as if nothing had happened the night before. Justin took a seat and a servent served him up a plate of food.
"Will you be joining my wife and I on our hunt today?" the king asked. The queen looked over at Justin raising a brow and smiling.
"I would be honored to join the hunt with you sire." he told the king. He wondered if Desiree would be joining them. He would love to see the Kings reaction, to see if the fool even remembered the night before.

Re: The Outlaws of England (Reserved)
Sleeping in Desiree allowed her body to heal. She knew that Justin was just beyond the side door and that oddly made her feel at ease she wasn’t sure though why. It should have made her nervous but something about him made her feel oddly relaxed and that scar, that scar where had she seen it before?
She wasn’t sure how long she slept but when she finally did she relized that she over slept she got up with a hurry went to her vanity and washed up and got changed into a new gown, simple un flattering but thus was the custom she tied her bonnet to her head. She walked quickly to the hall and slipped in beside her Queen. The queen looked up at her and Desiree bowed “Begging your pardon” But she wasn’t able to continue the Queen put her hand up “My Child” Desiree was not insulted even though she was older then her Queen the Queen had always called her that. The Queen continued “You needed your rest” Desiree nodded and smiled “Thank you your majesty” She then stood beside her Queen.
It was then that she realized the Justin was there she curtsied to him “Good morning Baron” She smiled, they were talking about hunting so perhaps he had forgotten about her idea of going for a hike. She was torn did she really want him to forget or was she just nervous. She turned to the Queen, the Queen looked up at her. “Desiree you can stay here if you wish, you still look a little tender” Desiree was slightly disappointed and looked up at Justin. The Queen saw that and grinned. “Baron Greystone if ye be up to it I do believe a walk on the grounds with Desiree would put a smile upon her face” Desiree blushed a deep purple in embarrassment and waited for Justin’s answer.

Re: The Outlaws of England (Reserved)
John looked over at his wife when she suggested that Justin take Desiree for a walk about the estate. "Well, then you can join us a bit later then. It will take time for the servents to get everything ready." Justin smiled and nodded his head, before looking over at Desiree that was seemed to be a bit embarrassed.
He could see in the eyes of the queen that she had plans for Desiree. The King and Queen rose from their seats at the head of the table and left to change into their hunting clothes. Why they should when the so called hunt was nothing of a hunt. Servents drove the animals towards the royal hunting party and they shot them. It was nothing like hunting wild game should be. When they left he stood up and took his plate of food and moved next to Desiree and sat back down. "Well now, I guess we both have escaped a boring and useless hunt. Did you sleep well?"

Re: The Outlaws of England (Reserved)
Standing there as the Queen made her comments Desiree had no choice but just to stay silent. She was not looking forward to the hunt, she felt sorry for the animals, not even given a chance to run away so it really wasn’t a hunt it was just a slaughter. But going for a walk with the Baron would be much of the same she feared. But it would be her that would be hunted down and slaughtered. She had a faint hope that Justin would say no but no one said no to royalty so she curtsied again when he nodded his head.
As they King and Queen left and Justin came to sit beside her she curtsied to him and then smiled remaining standing. “I slept well thank you Baron” She paused. “And yourself” She wanted to say more but t would have to wait until they were walking. So they would have more privacy. She wanted to ask why he would have stopped the King from entering her bedchambers. And maybe even ask about that scar. How did he get it? She was certain now that both him and the highway men shared the scar and that it wasn’t the same person But she was still curious

Justin finished his food and grinned. Sitting there for a moment he leaned back in his chair and looked at her. "Well I guess I got enough sleep." he got up and helped her up from her chair. Offering her his arm, he proceeded to the manor house's door that lead out to the garden and the forest and grassy fields of the estate. The estate was beautiful. The rolling hills of grass and the forest that had a variety of animals, everything that could make one feel relaxed and feel free.
"It is very beautiful here." he told Desiree. "Only been here once since my return from the holy land but it made a lasting impression on me." The air was fresh and crisp. "How are you feeling today? Better now after a good night sleep I hope." She was definately not dressed for a good walk through the forest and hills, so he decided to just stick to the gardens at the moment, since it had a beatened path or one of flag stones. "I have a feeling that you do not like me to well." he began the conversation as they walked.

Re: The Outlaws of England (Reserved)
Allowing him to eat Desiree remained silent. As she waited for him to be done she tried to grasp at her emotions she was torn she hated this man for being a supporter of John, but the scar, damn that scar it was the same as the highwayman that had robbed them but had left her. But it couldn’t be. NO! This man was a supporter of John, but he had saved her from the King. She inwardly groaned it was all very confusing!
When he stood she curtsied to him hen walked out with him she walked silently as would be expected of her. As they walked into the garden she looked around thinking they would be followed, but everyone was preparing for the so-called hunt so they were totally alone.
Desiree politely nodded “The King and Queen needed to get away and I agree Baron it is very lovely here.” In all honesty she really liked this place, it was so peaceful and far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Continuing to look ahead she answered his next question “I am feeling much better Baron, thank you” She brought her hand to her face. “Still a bit tender” She smiled up at him. “Thank you for intervening last night, in my condition it would have been harder to persuade him not to take me into bed.”
His next comment hit her like a slap in the face. She shuttered slightly before continuing. She blinked then shook her head. “ What ever makes you think that Baron You think to lowly of yourself Baron. You are one of the most trusted Baron of our King” She nearly chocked on the last word. “And a loyal supporter I am honoured that you would want to waste your time and want a walk with a simple lady in waiting, me” She hadn’t really answered his question but she had hoped that her rambling had bought him off and mae him think him forget about what he had asked her. She doubted it but she knew males liked their egos to be stroked so she continued “You are a fine looking male, if I may be so bold” How could she say that she couldn’t stand the fact that he supported their fake King. And if he were not a supporter it would be a total different story. He was very good looking and for the most part very gentle mannered just supported the wrong person.
She then quickly took his hand and pointed to the scar. “Now its my turn to ask a question” She looked up at him “Where did you get this” She realized that she couldn’t compare it to the highwayman’s story but they would be heading back soon with equal gold pieces so there was a chance that she would see him again and she would compare the story then if she had a chance, she had to know if they were the same man. So she could tell if he was trustworthy

Re: The Outlaws of England (Reserved)
He grinned at her answer to his question. She was definately trying to get him off the subject, to distract him from it. His father and King Richard had not wasted their training on him. To be a Baron, or nobility, one had to know when one was beating around the bush so to speak. She was the ward of King Richard, and now of John. He could see the resentment in her eyes and her body language. His false loyalty to John was taken to be real by her, which ment that everyone else thought that of him as well.
When she asked him of the scar, he brought his hand up and looked at it. Any more he really didn't notice it. He had grown use to it being there that he had almost forgoten about it. "Just one of the scars that I received in the Holyland. This one came from a Saracens sword that was about to run King Richard through his back. I had lost my sword in the chest of one Saracen and had nothing to block the mans sword. I managed to grab the Saracen's wrist with my left hand, and deflect the blade of his semitar with my hand, receiving a very nasty cut. Richard cut the mans head off." His face went sullen for a moment, "The same battle that I lost my father in."
It was then that it struck him. He had taken his glove off and took her hand and kissed it when he posed as the Highwayman. It had not occured to him before but now that he thought of it, she surely would have seen it then. As they continued to walk in the garden he opened a pouch tied to his side and with drew a ring. "He gave this to me that day." it was Richard's personal signet ring, one that he would use to seal official documents with and on those documents to let all know that it came from him. It was just as important as the great seal that was used by the king.
Putting the ring back into his pouch he continued their walk. He did not know yet though wether he could or should trust her. She was after all a lady in waiting to the queen, and the queen told everything to her husband. Or at least he thought she would, and of course being loyal to the queen, Desiree might tell her. Though if she suspected already it could already be to late. He grinned. Perhaps a visit from the Highwayman when she was alone would produce some information.

Re: The Outlaws of England (Reserved)
To Desiree she had succeeded in fooling the Baron. She had a knack for through He was a simple-minded fool like all the supporters of John. She couldn’t get this man though; he had protected her from a drunk John though but maybe that was because he wanted to save her maidenhood for himself. Now that thought sickened her too, but not as much as it should have. Now the highwayman that is a man she could see herself with. But that would not happen She was a lady in waiting to the Queen and if King John wanted to he could marry her off to ensure a peace treaty or to pay off a debt or nearly anything, she went from being a daughter of King Richard to a pawn that John could use she lived in fear everyday, if she misstep she could be dismissed from the court and left to her own devices and that would not be good she surmised that John did not feel the same about her as King Richard. She could tell by the way he looked at her.
Quickly she realized that he was talking to her now she turned to him and nodded as he told the story. “So you saved the life of King Richard that was very brave of you” The one true King she thought to herself but she didn’t dare say it instead she continued to walk with him.
When she heard that his father was dead she stopped in her tracks and looked up at him with such sorrow “I am sorry for your lost” She looked down at the ground “As you know I lost my father at a young age” She shuddered the visions of seeing her father brutally murdered in front of her still haunted her. But she quickly looked up at him “But I love my place at court” She swallowed hard “Please understand that” Her eyes flashed with fear, it was clear that she feared John and his power.
She looked at the ring and eyed it closely. She knew what that was. She stared up at him. “He must have trusted you well I know no one that as a ring like that but the King” As he put it into his pouch she eyed him closely. Then continued walking with him making sure she was holding her head up high trying to act like she was strong and unafraid.
She came upon a pen that was clearly holding the animals meant for the hunt, the foxes were trying to jump it but it was too high. Her heart broke, she looked just into the forest and she could see four baby foxes without a second thought she raced forward and with a swift kick she attempted to knock down the pen she hated these hunts especially when the babies seemed to young to be without their mom. She turned to him and glared “Either help me or report me but do something” She continued to attempt to try to free the trapped animals. The animals seeing what she was trying to do remained silent as if they knew that if they made noise attention would be brought to them.

Justin watched her as she took in what he had said. They had something in common. Both their father's were dead, both in the service of Richard. As they continued to walk they came to the enclousers that held the captive wild animals that would be used for the so called hunt. Dustin watched as Desiree tried to knock it down to free the foxes. If she spoiled the Kings hunt then she would surely be in trouble. He too spotted the baby foxes and as he approached the enclouser, he surveyed the foxes trying to get out. One was trying in the direction of the pups which told him that she was their mother.
"If you ruin the hunt for the King, it will not go well with you and I doubt that the queen could even save you." he moved closer to the enclosure and took out his dagger. He lossened some of the structure and pulled it out enough for the one fox to escape and then replaced it so the other's stayed. The female fox ran to the cubs and began nosing them and makeing them move to follow her. She stopped and looked back at Desiree and Dustin, swishing her tail back and forth before disapearing with her cubs.
Justin grinned and then turned back to Desiree. "Now I think we had best get back before someone comes to release the other animals." He gently took her by the arm and began moving her back towards the manor house before she could try and free more. He wished he could have freed all the animals but that would not have been wise. He liked hunting, but when he did it, it was mostly for food. Yes the thrill of the hunt was compelling, but just to kill for sport was not right.

Shooting a angry look at Justin as he told her that it would not go well for her if she ruined the hunt she spoke out of hatred and anger “I really do not care what he does, he may beat me but I am a pawn in his plans he will not kill me or cause any lasting damage” She didn’t realize the power of the words she just spoke, that she knew that soon she would be married off to secure a peace treaty, or many other reasons. She knew where King Richard was trying to find her a husband to love her and take care of her John would give her to the first man that would further his reign or affluence. It was another reason she hated the King John.
She watched with a smile on her face as he loosened the rails but her heart sank as he reclosed it she couldn’t leave these to die a slow painful death. Tears rimmed her eyes and she refused to look up at him. The other foxes looked to her and their looks priced in to her heart she shook her head. “I cant leave them” She tried to break out of his grip but she couldn’t. She whispered a “I’m sorry I wish you luck” She stared up at him. His story had nearly won her heart, in truth it had won a piece of it, and now she was sure of her first fear, he was a spy, that’s why the King had agreed so quickly to this walk.
She heard hooves coming signing that there was someone coming to free the other animals tensed up as a single tear fell down her face. Those animals had trusted her and she had failed them. She pulled away from his grip and curtsied “It was a lovely walk Baron Greystone but I feel a headache coming on,” She lied she kept her head low trying to hide her tears from him “I am going to go lay down” And before he could say anything she continue to the manor once she tought she was out of ear shot of him she wiped a tear from her eyes. “The highway man would have saved all of them,” She muttered.
Making her way to her bedchamber she closed the heavy black drapes and laid down on the bed closing her eyes tight and covering her ears she couldn’t stand to hear the King hollering and cheering she hummed loudly to try to stop the noise reaching her ears. Sure Justin had saved one but had he even glanced at the others?

Re: The Outlaws of England (Reserved)
Justin could tell that she was mad and upset that she could not save the other annimals. Besides the foxes there were deer, and wild pigs. Freeing them would have brought down on her the kings anger, and that he didn't want. He could tell by her comments that she did not have any love for the man and only the queen kept her there. As she struggled for a bit he to heard the rider, and saw him. But it was not one that was going to get the game started down the enclosed run. It was one of his men looking for him. Once Desiree had made her excuse of a headach, which he knew was not true and had made her way to the manor house he met up with his man. He had heard her comment and grinned.
"Seems we will be having a guest arriving tonight. The Archbishop himself will be joining the king tonight for supper. Shall we meet him along the way and releive him of that great burden of guit he surely carries around with him." Justin was tempted but he was in the mood for ruining the day completly for King John. The man had brought the clothes he wore as the highwayman with him and had his horse nearby. Quickly changing he mounted up and made sure the hood of the cloak was over his head and the black kerchief was about his face. He told his man to follow him and he rode off to the enclosure and threw a rope about a couple poles holding a section of it up.
As the servents came to begin their push of the poor animals to the hunt, he reared his horse making it whinny before he put his heals to its flanks and made it pull the poles out of the ground. It ripped the enclosure open and the animals ran for the security of the forest. Down below he could see the King and queen and others waiting. He knew they saw him as the king surely was quite livid and ordered his soldiers to go after him. Mounted horsemen began riding in his direction and he laughed as he turned and rode back towards the mannor house.
He rode hard, the metal horseshoes on the horses making a clattering sound as they hit the cobble stone. He rode hard stopped but a moment before the manor house rearing his horse again before heading down the road at a full gallop with his friend close behind. But what he did not notice was that the small bag that held the ring he showed Desiree fell from his belt and into the bushes along the road.

Re: The Outlaws of England (Reserved)
Even though she was in the darkened room and had attempted to cover up the noises they still penetrated her ears. She groaned but then stopped this time they were different sounds. She opened up her door and there was two young guards there. “Lady Desiree please remain in the safety of your room, it seems the evil highwayman has somehow postponed the Kings hunt, he is angry and the Highwayman is still on the run and for the safety of yourself please stay inside. Playing the innocent fool Desiree asked, “What do you mean postponed” The guards exchanged a look then spoke “He broke the enclosure that held the animals chosen for the hunt. Desiree showed no reaction but then nodded. “Thank you I shall stay inside until it is safe, I have a bit of a headach anyways” She lied. The guards bowed and remained posted at her door to protect her from any dangers. She then closed her door and smiled broadly, the highway man did what she couldn’t and what Justin wouldn’t do. Those animals she wanted to let out a hoot but she composed herself. She would have lie again later and show remorse to the disgusting John as he pouted as a child.
Desiree heard more noises hooves coming at a neck breaking speed towards her she was scared that it was the guards and they had caught up with the highwayman she so quickly walked to the window and moved the heavy drape and looked outside. She gasped when she saw the highwayman reeve up his horse, almost as if he was showing off for her. She felt the heat rushing to her cheeks and was grateful that she was alone.
She continued to watch out the window and she noticed the little black bag drop and go into the bushes. Her first thought was that he had stolen it from the Baron, and as much as she hated anyone that was a supporter of John she also knew what it meant to her so she would get it as soon as soon she could.
She heard a light knock on her door and walked to it the guards stood there. “Excuse us, but the Highwayman has been chased off by our brave men, so it is safe for you to leave” Desiree nodded “I may, there is some lavender growing near the bath, they are known to stop headaches” She nodded. “But I will be right back for I truly do not feel well” It was beginning to be the truth, could Justin Greystone one of the most trusted supporters of John really be pretending just like she was? Or could this be more of a trap?
She walked outside quickly and to where she had seen the small bag that held the ring fall she picked it up quickly and placed it in her dress close to her bosom. Her dress had many layers so it was safe there. She grabbed some lavender and walked up to her room. The guards where still there “The Queen said you can have the night off, seeing how you are not feeling well” Desiree curtsied. “Thank you kindly” She went to her bed and laid the lavender on the table and laid down on her bed. She eyed the door that led to Justin’s room and sighed to herself. If indeed they were one person he would not be back for sometime.
Truly struck with a headache now Desiree laid her head down and closed her eyes. She had a slight fever but it wasn’t anything major, it was mainly her body still recovering from her beating, and the stress of trying to figure out who Justin really was. She fell into a light sleep. She had heard that there was going to be a special visitor and she should still be there for that even if the Queen said she had the night off. King John would except her to be there, he seemed to like showing her off. The small bag was still close to her bosoms and was not visible from anyone else.

Re: The Outlaws of England (Reserved)
Justin and his companion had rode hard down the road and then into the forest, to circle back towards the mannor house. They rode up a stream so that their tracks would be covered and it would not be known if they went up or down stream. When he felt it safe enough he had them exit the stream and head for the road. He had to get back and make some excuse as to why he was not there when the King and Queen returned from the ruined hunt.
His companion had his bow so he took one of the arrorws and had his friend put some of his blood on the arrow tip and then broke the arrow as if it had struck something and then had been broken. Takeing the bow and quiver of arrows from his friend he rode back to the manor house. The King was still fumming and not even the queen could quell his anger. He sent his friend off to meet up with his other men so he would return alone to the mannor house.
"Where have you been?" the king asked in a nasty tone as Justin entered the large room where the king and queen was. He had not been around when the King had returned. He bowed low and said. "Your highness, I was about to come join you in the hunt, since the Lady Desiree suddenly came down with a headach and retired. I heard the thunderous clatter of horses and say that dispicable rogue, the Highwayman and one of his henchmen ride by the manor house. I ran to my horse and gave chase but was not able to catch up to them. I did manage to get off an arrow, but sire, I am a very poor shot with the bow, I but managed to wing him at best." he presented the king with the broken and bloodied arrow.
The king snached it from Justins hand and looked at the blood and he smiled and calmed some. He looked at his queen and then at the commander of the soldiers that had accompanied him. "You see, at least one here has at least accomplished something." he yelled at the commander. Sitting down, he laid the arrow carefully down on the table next to him. "What would I do without you Greystone. You truely are the only one I can count on.
"If it pleases you sire, I would like to retire and clean up. This has all made me sweaty and probably smelly. " the king smiled at him and nodded. Justin made his way back towards his rooms and was infront of Desiree's when he noticed the small bag with the ring missing from his belt. A worried look appeared on his face.

Re: The Outlaws of England (Reserved)
Although it felt as if she had she laid down she was jolted awake by the sound of hooves she slowly got out of her bed and walked to her window. She saw Justin returning and wondered what was happening, he had an arrow. Had he been injured? She watched him ride up then walk, he seemed fine. She crept to her door and opened it, her gaurds and left no doubt called down from the King.
She couldn’t hear what was going on but heard someone coming so quickly closed the door. And waited. She heard the footsteps stop by her door she opened it too see Justin there. She saw the worried look on her face and she brought a hand to where the bag was then remembering her manners and her place she curtsied “Baron Greystone” She smiled. “I pled you forgive me earlier rudeness. I am feeling a bit better now” She looked up at him. “If it pleases you maybe after dinner we can play a game of dice or cards” She wasn’t ready to part with the bag just yet, she wanted to make sure one last time that this wasn’t a trap.
She curtsied again and then leaving the door open she walked to the connecting door and unlocked it so all Justin need do was open up his door and he would be in her room she looked up at him batted her eyelashes then sat at her vanity table and brushed her long hair. She used to be able to wear it in a braid but King John decreed that only his wife would be allowed to wear her hair in braids. It was a lot more work now having to brush it, and there were parts in the back that she had difficulty getting, the other ladies of the Queen had tiring maids but John had dismissed her, it seemed that John enjoyed making Desiree’s life more difficult as if setting her up to fail. But he was always jealous of her.
Desiree continued to brush her hair moving it to the side to try and brush the ends but it was an endless battle. In frustration she put the brush down and looked at herself in the mirror. The swelling was down but her neck was still burised from the bag being ripped from her. She reached under the table and picked up the broken bag. She was lost in thought about how her life used to be and how she was going to get the bag back to Justin she sighed not realizing how far off she was in her own world if anyone had come into her room she would not have heard them.

Re: The Outlaws of England (Reserved)
Justin looked up as Desiree opened her door and spoke. He was a bit distracted as he treied to recall what might have happened to the bag. It had been there when he showed the ring to Desiree. He had to have lost it sometime after that. He would have to go about the way he had returned with her and then when he changed to become the Highwayman. When Desiree spoke of perhaps a game of cards or dice later, he nodded and smiled. When she turned to reenter her room, she left the door open perhaps an invitation for him to enter. But toungs would surely be wagging if he did.
But he noticed she unlocked the door between their rooms and he shook his head. She definately wanted him to come see her. He closed her door to the hallway and then went to his room. He stripped and called a servent to fill the tub with hot water so he could take a bath. Water was brought and placed in the tub and then he shooed the servents away and got into the tub of hot water. He relaxed letting the hot water soak into his skin and muscles to relax them. He finally began washing the days dirt and grime from his skin. The hard ride from the soldiers had made him sweat, and the dust of the road coated his skin.
When the water began to get cold, he rose and stept out to dry off. Once dried he put on some comfortable evening clothes and then knocked on the door between his room and Desiree. She seemed to be in a better mood and it was probably from his freeing the animals. He was glad to have done it, for it made John's life more misserable, giving him more of what the people were feeling under his rule.

Re: The Outlaws of England (Reserved)
A knock on the door broke her out of her daydream. It was not the connecting door as she had hoped so with a heavy heart she walked to it and opened the door standing there was one of the Kings guards Desiree curtsied. The man slightly bowed his head. “The King as requested your presence at tonight’s dinner. He is excepting the Bishop, so you will have to tend to Queen Isabella’s every need” He gave a look of pity Desiree knew what was coming. “He has requested you wear the a clean, fresh dress” Desiree kept her groan to herself. “Thank you I best get ready”
She closed the door and groaned. Changing would mean that someone would have to tie her up. Since John had dismissed her tiring maids he had made her even more dependant on him. She knew that is why he had done it. It was impossible for her to get dressed with out help. And John was more then willing to tie up her dress she wouldn’t let him this time she was determined that he would not be the person to do it now. After the upset with the highwayman freeing the animals, he would most likely already be at least half way drunk.
She took the hook and undid her first loop and slowly the rest came undone. She took off the dress and put it on her bed. She stood naked except for her under layer. Since it was summer it was a thin layer that fit under her dress. It went down to the ground, as did her main dress. She picked out a simple long-sleeved blue dress. It was mainly backless save for the crisscross fabric that was for tying it all together. Desiree used to have lavish gowns, with Jewels and bright colours and lush fabrics, but now she was forced to wear dresses as the other servants. For that is what she was, since Desiree kept avoiding the advances of the king she was denied certain gifts. She didn’t care though. Simple fabrics were worth her virginity.
She stepped into her dress and put the selves in but was debating how she was going to get it tied up when she heard a second knock this time on their connecting doors she opened the door and curtsied. Blushing slightly as a maid of honour no man should see her in such a state of undress but she had no other choice. “Baron Greystone, our game will have to wait I have been summoned to Queen Isabella’s side for the dinner tonight”
She paused she still had her front to him so he could not see her back. “However I do require your help” She bowed her head “The King has dismissed my tying maid so I have no one to help me tie my gowns.” She turned her back to him to reveal her opened gown. “If you would be so kind as to tie me up please” She asked knowing it was improper but she had no other choice.

Re: The Outlaws of England (Reserved)
He was a bit surprised when he opened the door and found her not completely dressed. When she asked him to help tie up her dress and turned around, he grinned and took hold of the laces and began pulling them tight. "So you have been summoned to the dinner. Heard there was to be a guest tonight, The Arch Bishop I hear. Should be interesting. Guess there will be no inopprpriate remarks at dinner tonight." he chuckled.
As he got her laced up he tied it. She now was all ready to go down to the dinner, when it was ready. They still had a couple hours to go. He was hoping that John was still feeling edgy about having the Highwayman so close to him, ruining his time away from the court and all the headacks of running a country. "We do have a bit of time before dinner is served." he told her.
He heard the horses and carriage come down the road as he talked to Desiree. Looking out the window he saw it and the mounted escort. It seemed the Arch Bishop did not trust in God that much to protect him from outlaws. "It seems the guest of honor has arrived." more soldiers which ment there would be no more visits by the Highwayman. Or at least no attempt to rob or make the king misserable. "Care to play a bit of cards while we wait?"

Feeling his hands tying her dress up it was a mixture of feelings and emotions she knew that she should be disgusted for it wasn’t proper for a man to do such a thing, but she was desperate and if her thoughts of him being the highwayman were true then she could see this going further.
As he spoke she nodded. “ Yes I have been summoned, King John likes to show how generous he has been to his underlings.” She said with a tone dripping in disdain She turned to look at him. She wanted to go on, to tell him that King John had stripped her of nearly everything her expensive clothes, her maids, nearly everything. John had only let her keep simple gifts from Richard her bag. And the necklace that she kept hidden. It held a picture Richard. Sure she was given free home and board, and all the candles she needed, but that was only at the Mercy of Isabella who seemed to pity the dear Desiree and Desiree was certain that it had had a lot to do with Desiree not jumping into bed with her husband. Whatever the case her life was not how it was with Richard as King but it could get a lot worse so she kept sweet.
Desiree also heard the carriage and groaned to herself. She looked out the window and tightened her lips into a tight nervous smile. “Ahh he has arrived” She said. She straitened her back. She wished the highwayman had robbed him. But she had a feeling that Justin being the highwayman had instead rescued the animals from the hunt. Well there would always be a time when the Bishop left.
When the game of cards was brought up she smiled and waved him to a table and brought out a deck of cards. “I borrowed these” She winked ‘so what is your fancy Baron Greystone?” She sat down. “Here I will tell you what one round of rummy and if you win you will get a special prize, but if I win you have to answer one question for me” With out waiting for a reply she dealt out ten cards and motioned for him to sit. She looked at her cards and smiled. She could win this game no hands down but that would ruin her plan.
She let him win. And then feigned disappointment “Well baron Greystone a deal is a deal” She reached into her dress down her front where his bag lay as she pulled it out she spoke what she had rehearsed in her mind “When I went to pick some lavender for my headache I found this in the bush” She paused and handed it to him “I guess it fell out when you chased after the highwayman after the saved the animals meant for the slaughter” She looked up at him waiting for his reaction.
She wanted to show him her necklace, a locket that hung on a chain with a picture painted in the inside of Richard, something that he gave her just before he had left for the holy lands where he was to die. Something that she was frightful that John would force her to give up she had been lucky thus far. But she still wasn’t fully convinced that she could trust this man. She needed to be sure before she risked losing the only picture of King Richard the only thing save her bag that now lay broken on the vanity table, until she could get supplies to fix it. No she couldn’t risk it. She was certain though that he would have known about it, for he brought back the necklace from a crusade and she was certain that Baron Greystone had gone with Richard. She continued to study him to his reaction
((Added a bit about the necklace she hasnt showed him yet))

Re: The Outlaws of England (Reserved)
As Justin sat down to play a game of cards with Desiree, the Arch Bishop entered the manor house and was greeted by the King and Queen. The King expressed his thankfulness that the Arch Bishop had not meet up with the Highwayman. He let the Arch Bishop know of what had happened earlier. "The man would not dare rob one of the Church, especially the Popes emisarry here. He would be a madman if he did." John of course was playing a dangerous game with the church. He had robbed them earlier, but made it look like it was thieves and outlaws like the Highwayman that had done so. He knew the church in England held vast wealth and he wanted it. But he could not make an enemy of the Arch Bishop, for to fall out favor with the Pope would be political suicide and he would more then likely lose his throne. After all the Pope had given The Duke of Normandy his blessings in attacking and taking over England.
The pope could back the King of France, giving him the authority and right to the throne of England. The King of France would then be able to enlist the help of his neighboring kings for help in taking England. So now John was very pleasant to the Arch Bishop.
When Justin won the game of cards, he raised a brow. He had a feeling that Desiree wanted him to win. When she pulled the small bag from between her lovely tits and handed it to him he sat back in his chair looking at her. The bag was quite warm, having been resting so close to her tits. She explained that she had found it while picking lavender for her headache. One he knew she really didn't have. The lavender she spoke of was growing where he had reared his horse by the manor house. and her window did face that part of the landscape. If she had seen him drop the bag, then she would more then likely know that he was indeed the Highwayman. For he had showed her the bag and what it contained just a bit earlier. That and the scar on his hand.
He knew she had no love for King John, but still she was a lady in waiting for the Kings wife and she was devoted to her husband. He looked at the bag and then at her, "My thanks my lady. I feared I had lost this preasious gift." He stood and then offered her his arm. "I think it is time that we made an appearance. " he wondered if he could trust her. Surely she knew that he was also the Highwayman.

Seeing the baron raise a eyebrow Desiree had a feeling that he knew she had purposely lost the game. But she didn’t care. The reaction to her giving him the bag was worth it. She had noticed the warmth of the bag and it seemed that he did as well. That made her blush and she hoped that Justin had not seen. She was truly innocent well as innocent as one could be living at court. She had of course talked with the other ladies that had been mistresses to the numerous men at court. She was saved from such advances though, be a ward of King Richard she may as well been a princess he protected her, had started to make plans seeing men that sought her hand in marriage but he wanted someone that could care for her and loved her. Now with King John, she was certain that she would find out soon enough as soon as a man approached that could make John richer or expand his land she would be married off she was certain of it.
When he thanked her she bowed her head “I know gifts from King Richard are precious and I wouldn’t want you to be without it.” She thought back to her necklace that was locked away safely. As he stood and offered his arm she took it and nodded. “Yes time for us to go I suppose” She dreaded this dinner, John always liked to show off how nice he was to her.
She walked with Justin and when she entered the presence of the King and Queen she curtsied so low her nose nearly touched the ground. John greeted her with a kiss on the cheek once he got her to rise. He put an arm around her turned to the Arch Bishop “Your eminence this here is Desiree” He hugged her. Desiree kept a sweet face on. John went on “She is a most trusted Lady in waiting to my Queen, and soon of marring age.” Desiree wanted to pull away from his arms. “She was a ward under my brother and now I protect her”
“Her face looks a bit swollen” The Arch Bishop said
“ The man that had inflicted that is now in jail and awaits execution”
“Good, no one wants to marry a flawed woman, is she still intact?” The Arch Bishop asked. Desiree clenched her fists as this conversation carried on. The Queen seeing her distress rushed forward and to her husband’s side. “Husband Desiree has had a rough day please”
The bishop raise an eyebrow John let go of Desiree and rubbed the back of his neck and acted concerned for her which Desiree knew was fake. “Oh my you are right my wife” John turned to Desiree “My sweet child, you nearly came close to the highwayman” Desiree looked up at the King “Yes my lord I nearly did, but Baron Greystone escorted me to the Manor as I had come down with a headache, if it wasn’t for the Baron I might have come face to face with the highwayman” Then King John clicked his tongue “My poor child must have been a fright” Desiree nodded faking being frightened “It was milord, I heard he was right outside my window, luckily I was laying down”
The food began appearing then the King waved a hand to Justin for him to sit and Desiree stood off to the side ready to help the Queen if needed. She glared at the Arch Bishop watching him closely wondering what he would do if he knew John was robbing him. She then chanced a look at Justin wondering what was going through his mind.
