"could you find someone who needs a horse? I think it'd be nice when we don't need it." Maeve didn't need to lead the horse around. They had a goal. Her gaze studied him. He had asked the man about her daughter. That startled her, now that she thought about it. "why did you ask about the little girl? she wasn't your daughter." it was still a struggle to believe he would actually consider her an equal, even for him to go as far as to try to find he daughters killer.

"I am sure we will find someone that will need a horse." when she asked him why he had ask the ex soldier about the little girl, he reached over and put a hand on her leg. "I figured if these men were responsible for your daughter's death then you needed to know. You need to see justice done, to bring closure to it all." he patted her leg gently and smiled. "From the sound of what happened, she was a credit to the Amazons."

Maeve's gaze shifted to his hand on her leg, then to him. "Closure..." Oh she did want that. "I do not understand why it matters to you," she replied softly, a slight tint of pink on her cheeks. "Do you care about me that much?"

Korag saw the slight blush of her cheeks as she asked her question. He didn't hesitate to answer it. "More then you realize." he told her. He removed his hand from h er leg. "As why it matters to me is because it matters to you." If all things went well she might be his wife soon, if her daughter had lived, she would have been his daughter and he knew in his heart that he would move heaven and earth to find the one that would kill her.

Maeve studied him as he spoke. His words warmed her heart. He didn't know her daughter, and he was determined to find the killer, for her. If her daughter was alive, would he care for her? "thank you, Korag," she whispered softly.

Without the wagon they made better time. They were able to cover the distance to the Roman town a lot faster. When they arrived, he had the two men go find stabling for the horses and then meet him at the Town's more suitable Inn. He would check in by himself and then the two would do so when they got there. This would throw off any one searching for three men traveling and staying in the same place. Th e inn he chose was not the best in town. Again he gave up the comfort of a real soft bed for a lesser one to help throw off suspision and any one trailing them.

Korag smiled and again reached over and patted her leg. The rest of the way to the Roman town for them was uneventful. By nightfall they had arrived. Korag made discrete inquires of the guards at the gate to the walled town. No wagon with a man fitting the Mage's discription had passed through and it made Korag wonder if they were on the right trail. A check at the best Inn in the town turned up nothing. He knew they were there somewhere but somehow they had managed to do something to cover their tracks. Korag got the three of them rooms at the Inn He didn't know if Maeve would want to share one with him so he got her one as well.

Maeve smiled at him. She rode the rest of the way in silence. The fact that korag cared enough that he wanted her to find peace. But she had to wonder if she ever would. Her daughter was so brutally murdered. How did a mother get past that, when she knew her daughter died so tragically.

When they arrived to the town, she glanced to the guards when he asked questions. Oh the Mage was tricky. They did not find any information about the mage, either he was hiding out, or the man had lied. She was glad when korag got them beds, better to rest now than stress out because the Mage couldn't be found.

On the way up to the rooms he handed Nara a key and then one to Maeve. He would not have minded sharing a room with her and enjoying her again. It was more private now but he still was not sure of how she felt about him or anything. So it was better to get her a seperate room. Again it would be up to her to make the decision.

He then returned below to take the horses to a stable to be cared for. While he was doing this he looked around a bit more. A troop of Roman Soldiers marched down the street. He made sure he stayed in the shadows. He didn't stay out to long and soon was back up in the Inn at his room door.

Maeve took the key he gave her. She clutched it, then went into her room, where she sat on the bed. Her feelings for him felt so complicated, like they were forbidden. Amazon's did not love. Men only held them back. But he wouldn't. She knew that. But still it felt almost wrong to feel so strongly toward him. it was terribly tempting to join him in his room. He cared about her. He cared about helping her find her daughters killer. It seemed he wanted her to be happy.

In his room he removed his sword and dagger and undid his sandel boots. All day in the saddle was nothing new to him but it always made him a bit stiff. He looked out the small window in the room. Out there somewhere the mage was hiding, along with the men that killed Maeve's daughter. The town was a fairly large one with buildings of stone, red tile roofs and sreets made of stones. A thick stone wall surrounded the town with watch towers and soldiers patrolling them.

"Where are you?" he whispered "Where are you hiding?" He just knew that the mage was somewhere out there. He looked over at the wall that seperated the room Maeve was in from his. "You will have justice." he smiled and sighed.

Maeve found that being alone bothered her. It didn't used to, before she met Korag, before she started having the strange feelings toward him. She didn't like being in the roman lands. She didn't like being in the room alone. With a sigh, she left her room and went next door to his and knocked on his door.

Korag heard the soft knock on the door and crossed the room and opened it. He was a bit surprised to see Maeve there. "Is something wrong?" he asked her. He knew she was not use to being in a civilized town. He stepped back to let her come in. He wondered if she was coming to stay in his room with him or just to visit. He hoped the it was the former. He was wanting to feel in his arms again, her warm soft skin against his. Her sweet lips against his.

Maeve glanced up to him when he opened the door. Honestly she did not know why she came to see him, only that she did not wish to be alone. "nothing is wrong. I do not like it here." she stepped into his room when he let her in.

Korag smiled as she entered the room and he closed the door behind them. He then moved up behind her and put his arms around her. "It is vastly different then the simple village. But you will get use to it." he pulled her back against him. "My people don't have anything as elaborate as this, except perhaps the castles. But when I was sent away to the east to learn from the weapon masters, they had structures like this to some degree. It disturbed me at first, but I got use to it. Doesn't bother me now."

Maeve leaned against him as he came up behind her with his arms around her. She had no desire to get used to the fancy roman lands and their romanly ways. She merely wanted to fond the Mage and her daughters killer. "you've mentioned these weapon masters before. I do not understand."

She leaned against him. That made him smile. "Yes that is what they called themselves." he told her. "When I was young, still a young boy, my father came upon some strangers in a terrible storm. They were half dead from the cold. He brought them to the castle and had them tended to. They were strange men. Shorter then us, with slanted eyes and long black hair. Their skin was different in color as well. They all carried swords like the one I have." he began.

"They said they came from a far away land to the east. They said they were Weapons Masters, warriors that had been taught in the way of the sword. In gratitude for saving them, they agreed to take me and a couple others back with them and train us. They are a strange people and have strange customs and lived in homes of wood and stone that were beautiful. That is were I learned to live in such dwellings." he leaned down and kissed her neck.

Maeve listened to him as he explained about the people. She smiled softly and closed her eyes as he kissed her neck. "they sound interesting," she replied softly. "do you still contact them?" the east seemed a very far away place, and she could not imagine leaving her homeland to learn to fight.

"Every few years they have returned with exotic things to trade with us. We have some things I guess they value. But mainly I think they just like to travel to new lands and meet new people." He move his hands over her bare stomach. "If you like you can stay here with me tonight." he told her.

He hoped she would accept the invitation. He would enjoy having her sleep with him. If all went well she would be sharing his bed from then on.

"well, interesting," she replied softly. "I wish not to be alone," admitting that sounded weird, but also so right. Her eyes opened and she tilted her head back to see him. He was changing so many things about her.

It seemed she was changing a little bit here and there. He could see she no longer looked at him as just a man that was out for one thing and one thing only. Slowly her mind set was changing. All she had grown up to believe in was begining to be proved not so correct. Not all men were alike and monsters.

"Come, if we wish to get an early start, we will need our rest." he guided her ovr to the bed. Even if they did nothing it still would be nice to feel her warm body against his. Though he did wish to make love to her again.

Maeve went with him as he guided her to the bed. Once she got close enought to it, she crawled into it and pulled him in with her. Her need to have him close was strong and she did not fully understand it. But she was not fighting it anymore.

Korag moved onto the bed as she pulled him down with her. He pulled her close, and arm around her. Yes she was definately changing and he liked it. He kissed her cheek and settled down on the bed holding her. It felt good and he knew he could get use to it quite easily. He didn't attempt to do anything else. He would let her initiate it if she felt the need or desire. He was satisfied at the momnt with her there in bed with him

Maeve relaxed as he put his arm around her and held her. Her eyes closed as she cuddled close to him. It seemed weird that she felt safe in his arms, but it felt more right than anything else. She buried her face into his chest, taking in his manly scent.

It felt good having her beside him. He finely had a woman that was a match for him. One that could fight, that was not scared to fight or get bloodied, one to stand beside him in battle and perhaps some day bare him children that they could train together. As she snuggled in to him he could not help but smile.

He closed his eyes relaxing again and began drifting off to sleep. Nara had been about to go to Maeve's room when she heard her door open and then peeked out into the hallway to see her go to Korag's room and enter. She softly chuckled, and sighed. Her sister seemed to have turned from the strict rule of no men and seemed to like Korag's cousin. She could see that in the near future she would have a neice or nephew. But now having a boy child might not be a bad thing if what she had seen back at the castle continued. Now Maeve seemed to have changed as well and it made her happy to see that Maeve with Korag. Perhaps when they returned she might look for a suitable male.

Maeve closed her eyes, slowly falling asleep in his arms. The arms of a man. It was too much work to try to fight this attraction, so she just let it happen. Perhaps it would be a good thing. After everything she was taught about men, she hoped this wouldn't be a mistake. It did not feel like one. It felt.... Right. So very right.
