Time is Irrelevant (Open)

Six years can seem like a long time for someone to stop talking, especially someone at the age of ten. But for Ryu the past six years wasn't that long. Now at sixteen years old, people are still trying to figure out how it happened, however the only one that knows is Ryu. He just stopped talking all together. Some believe it was just his way of getting attention, he believes it was because he told his mother that he would never talk to her or anyone else if his mother moved him away from his father and beloved home; Hawaii. But it did happen. His family unit now consisted of his eldest brother Brad, who is eighteen and his mother who is pregnant with her third child to another man and on top of that his little sister; Yuki, is supposed to be born on his birthday. Go figure.

That Terrible Day

“Hey look guys...there’s our new home” his mother points out the small window into the black space surrounding them. "Which one?" His older brother asks looking out the window "It's right there. The window close to the end of the top floor" Brad turned to look at Ryu and he rolls his eyes and then Brad looks at their mother "They all look the same. Are you sure this is such a good idea mom. I mean, bringing all of us all the way out here in space just to get away from dad" "I don't want to talk about that right now. It's a new adventure. Come on kids, doesn't it seem thrilling" Brad looks at Ryu then his mother did. Ryu shrugged his shoulders "I guess" Brad said though Ryu knew the only reason he was acting like this was to make him feel better because his brother never acted like this.

Six years later

School on the station was a joke, Ryu had to spend at least two hours in a speech therapy class as they try and get him to talk. His mother thought it would be a good idea for Ryu to start talking again since they were starting over in a new place. Living in space was still relativity new but his mother just had to take him away from everything that he loved.
The bell rang and Ryu jumped to his feet happy to be done with therapy.

'Finally, my first real class of the day' Ryu thought to himself as he made his way down the hallways of bright neon blue and green lights that shone against metal walls. Ryu walks into the classroom and the teacher gives him a nice smile "Morning Ryu. How are you doing?" He gives his teacher a weary look "That bad huh?" He shakes his head and takes his seat near the front of the class. Ryu looks up at the board and the teacher already has a few equations up for the students to do. He takes out his notebook and starts to work out the problem. It's not like he had anything better to do. He didn't have that many friends because it was kind of hard to make friends when you didn't talk.
