Re: All In The Game
When they finally made it to his quarters, she kicked the door open. She had helped him for a bit of the trip there. He liked the feel of her arm around his back and how close she was to him. She was right though. He needed to get some sleep so the meds could do their work. He would try. "I think I can make it." he grinned. "As for sleeping, well I will try, but can't gurentee it."
He made it to the bed and sat down and looked over at Serenity. Damn she looked good. "Guess you can get back to the bridge." he told her as he took a deep breath and laid down on his back. "I know how it feels not to have the feel of the deck of the bridge under my feet."

Re: All In The Game
Serenity nodded lightly with satisfaction as Krell laid back on his bed and then moved around the bottom of it as he talked about the feeling of the bridge under his feet. Grabbing his right foot, she pulled his boot off and said, "True, but I know things are being taken care of, so it leaves me with a little freedom now and then." Dropping the right boot, she went for his left, being careful not to jar him too much. It registered briefly that she really didn't need to be so nice with him, but something told her that were their places reversed, he'd be just as caring.
Once his boots had been discarded by the desk, Serenity moved around the room to fetch him a tumbler of water, he'd need it later. When the drugs wore off, he'd have dry-mouth worse than the deserts of Tattoine. She placed the glass on the side table, then placed a node next to it so he wouldn't have to crawl for the comm link by the door. "I'll have Slyder come check on you in an hour or so." She offered, "And if you need anything, tap the node twice and say who you want. It'll put you through to them, OK?"

Re: All In The Game
Krell only nodded and closed his eyes. It was not long before he drifted off to sleep. He had thought he wouldn't but he did. With in a short time he began dreaming. He was on the bridge of the Raven. The proxsimity alarm went off and immediately the Riggers called out from the sensor station, "Cruiser coming out of hyperspace." A moment later, in a more worried voice. "Second cruiser sir." then "Shit, a third cruiser sir."
"Weapons to max power. Helm come to..." he checked his monitor screen, "255. 09. Target the first cruiser." he had called out. With in moments the four ships were exchanging fire. The raven's powerful turbo lasers lashed out slicing thought hull plating. The enemy ships manuvered trying to trap the Raven as their turbo lasers burned the hull and pierced the Ravens Hull Plating. He was reliving the battle that had nearly destroyed the Raven.
Control pannels sparked and caught fire. The ship shook with impacts and small internal explosions. The bridge was filled with smoke and the smell of burned wire and flesh as a number of his bridge crew lay on the deck, uncounsious or dead. Pieces of the support beams hung from the walls and ceiling along with wires and metal.
Krell had leapted from his command chair to the weapons station as his weapons officer was hit by a falling metal beam. He took out the engines of one of the crusiers and calling commands to his pilot/navigator closed in on a second cruiser unleasing death and destruction. The cruiser exploded as the powerful lasers sliced through the power plant of the ship's engines. The third cruiser closed in on the Raven but his pilot manuvered the Raven to come above and to the port side of the Cruiser. Krell then unleashed a broadside at the ship, tearing it to pieces.
He awoke suddenly, his eyes snaping open. He was breathing hard and he was soaked with sweat. The screams of his crewmen that were injured and those that were dieing filled his ears. All during the battle the comms had been on giving him updates on damage, status of weapons and engines. He reached over and took the glass of water and downed it. Sitting up he placed his head into his hands. It hit home once more the number of men that had died and had been injured.
He then looked at his wrist comm. He had been asleep for around 3 hours. His shoulder still hurt like hell, but he felt as if he could get up without falling over. He stood and got his boots then put them on. He was missing being on the bridge of his own ship. Being a passenger was something that he didn't like to much. But for the moment he was stuck. He went directly to the bridge. Even though it was not his ship he felt more home on the bridge then any where else on the ship. "How goes it?" he asked

Re: All In The Game
"If you lean any further back in that chair, Slyder, you're gonna go arse over." Kai commented as Slyder's chair seemed to tilt back further and further. How the man wasn't flat on the deck was a mystery.
"Never happen." Slyder replied as he leaned his head back and stared at a support beam above his head. He let out a sigh and put his hands behind his head.
"Something on your mind?" Kai asked, turning his chair half way to regard his friend.
Slyder chewed his lip a little, "More than something." He said, "She wants me to marry her, make it all legal like."
Kai lifted an eyebrow, "That woman at the cantena?"
Slyder nodded, "Marianne. Her name is Marianne."
"OK." The other man replied, "Why does she want you to make it legal?"
"Because of Claire." Slyder said, "She wants us to be legal for Claire's sake."
"Woah." Kai breathed, "That's heavy. What have you said about it?"
Slyder leaned back further still in his chair, "Before or after I told her she was insane?" He replied, making Kai laugh a little. "I only spent one night with her and it's hardly like I was gonna stick around and see her again. But Claire is something different."
"You can discuss it later." Serenity had suddenly arrived on the bridge, making both men straighten up and return to their duties. She had an odd look on her face and her voice sounded on edge.
"What's wrong Boss?" Kai asked.
Serenity shook her head, "Not sure yet." She replied, "I got this feeling on the way up here. Something isn't right." More than once in the past, Serenity's odd feelings had been spot on, so both men quickly started running diagnostics and scans. They wouldn't take any chances. After a few minutes of frantic checks, Slyder's face paled, "Uh, Boss?" he called, "You might wanna see this."
Serenity was instantly standing over Slyder, staring at the screen.
"When you're right, you're right, Boss." He said cautiously, "What do you wanna do?"
Serenity stared at the large blip on Slyder's consol and growled low in her throat, "Kai, change course slightly and take us away from Haven's direction."
"Got it." Kai responded and quickly changed course, "Anywhere in particular?"
"Anywhere, I don't care." She said quickly, "Just make sure it looks natural. I don't want those bastards getting any ideas." She turned away from Slyder and went to Kai as he brought up a selection of star charts.
"What about here?" Kai offered, looking up. "That ion cloud will not only make us disappear, but it'll play hell with their sensors, send them around in circles for days."
"Uh, won't it do the same to us too?" Slyder interrupted.
"Yes." Serenity said, "But it's the only place close enough without causing questions. Have Rat back up the sensor logs so we enter the cloud, we'll still have the data. Once that's done, we have a total shut down. Engines, sensors, navigation. Everything but basic life support. I want us totally invisible."
"Yes Boss." Both men said in unison.
Serenity turned to leave the bridge, "Inform me when we shut down. I'll be in my quarters."
Kai, Rat and Slyder had been hard at work for about half an hour before Krell arrived on the bridge. "How goes it?" They were asked. Slyder looked up briefly, but said nothing, he was too busy backing up the logs with Rat. Kai did answer, but he didn't have time to look at the other man. "Not good." He said, "That cruiser pinged us and followed our trail. We've had to take a little detour." He nodded to the main viewing window and a massive ion cloud that swirled around rather majestically. The vast turning cloud of bright violet and green was hypnotic and the crew of the Jezzabel had long known the dangers of it. "Serenity didn't want to risk leading them towards Haven, so we're gonna hide out here until it's safe." Finishing what he needed to, Kai then tapped the comm twice for a ship-wide link. "All decks." he said clearly, "Prepare for total shut down. All systems offline in three, two, one." Everything fell silent as the engines died away and the bridge shut down. Everything but life support went offline and the Jezzabell simply floated into the massive swirling cloud. The current would soon pick them up and carry them along as though they weren't even there.
In her quarters, Serenity had busied herself with an old box that had stayed hidden under her bed for years. The contents of it were strewn across her bed and there were some rather odd things within the mess. Most of it appeared to be old tech junk, but they had purpose with Serenity. She heard Kai on the comm and nodded, then watched as her quarters fell into darkness, illuminated again dimly by the back-up. Minimum power and only life support, just as she ordered. The only thing she hoped was still working was her shower and went to try it........

Re: All In The Game
Haven had installed some more long range sensors on some of the outer astoroids after the scare tht the Raven had caused when it had returned. The watch commander buzzed Valis. "Sir you had better come up here."
As Vails arrived, "What have you got?"
The young man pointed to the sensors. "Small ship came out of hyperspace, changed course and headed into the Ion cloud." he replayed the sensor log. "A few moments later this one came out of hyperspace and followed." The signature of a Heavy Cruiser was unmistakable as was that of the Jessebell.
Jenkins, Krell's First Officer was there and heard what they had said. He knew Vails would not allow it so he silently departed the control room and walked down the hall to the shuttle bay. Brinking whis wrist com up to his mouth, "All crew report back to to the Raven, immediately."
As Jenkins arrived at the shuttle bay and looked out at the Raven the crew began showing up. "Whats up Jenkins?" One asked.
"Its the Captain. He may be in big trouble."
"What kind?" another asked.
"Imperial Heavy Cruiser." Jenkins announced as more arrived. When the rest of the crew arrived, minus those still laid up he explained again what had happened in the control room.
"Any man that wishes to stay may." he told them. The Raven was far from being repaired. Repair crews still were aboard working around the clock to fix her. She still had the burn marks and her insides were still being put back together.
"The Captain put his ass on the line for all of us more then once sir. Time to take care of him." one called out. "Aye." came a unanimous chior of voices.
"What about the repair crews?" one asked.
"They will just have to join us." Jenkins said as he opened the door to the shuttle bay. "They can continue working as we go into battle. Fix anything we break again." he grinned. There was several chuckles from the crew as the headed for the shuttles.
Soon they were all docked aboard the Raven and the crew was fanning out to their stations. Jenkins and the bridge crew, or what was left of it. Jenkins looked at the captains chair and the two other stations that were now unmanned.
"We'll take them sir." Came a young girls voice.
Jenkins turned around to see Jenney and Reese standing there. "You shouldn't be here. We might not be coming back."
Jenney shook her head, her red hair swirling. "Serenity and Krell are in trouble. Everyone on Haven owes Krell their lives, now it is time for some of us to help him. Please, Reese and I can do it."
Jenkins knew the two kids could run the stations that were vacant. They had been aboard the Raven so much and had learned so much from the crew. He knew he shouldn't but he was in a hurry to get the Raven out there and he did need a full bridge complement. He nodded. "Man your stations." he told them.
The two quickly moved to the two vacant stations, sensors and engineering. Reese's hands flew over the consol, the hum of systems coming on line could be heard. "Engine room, bring the engines on line, twenty percent power." he called out.
"What? who?" came a voice over the speaker.
"You heard him Blake." Jenkins pressed a comm button, "Ensign Reese is manning the Enginering Station. " he grinned and looked over at Reese.
"Aye sir." came Blakes voice again.
The ship came alive and mooring clamps were undone. The Raven slowly backed out of the repair dock.
"What are you doing?" came Vails voice over the comm.
"What Krell would be doing for us sir." Jenkins settled down in the Captains Chair. Then he hit the ship's comm. "All hands, battle stations." He nodded to the pilot and took control of the ship. Him and Krell was the only ones that knew the way in and out of Haven. He manuvered the ship through the trecherous route and emerged from the astoriod field.
"Status Report." he called out. The bridge crew gave out their replies. Weapons were on line and powered, engines were now at max power, long range sensors were picking up the Heavy Cruiser just outside the Ion cloud. There were many repairs to sub systems to be done, as well as internal structure repair, but the Raven was ready for battle.
Aboard the Jessebell, Krell watched as the ship moved into the Ion Cloud. Everything screemed with in him to turn and fight, but the Jessebel was no match for a heavy Cruiser, even with her upgrades.
"Sensors are useless sir." Came the imperial crewmans answer to the new Captains question.
"Not a problem. Boost the signal to the tracking device. It will show us where she is. Then we will let loose with a volley of laser blasts that will turn that ship into twisted metal."
As Vails arrived, "What have you got?"

Re: All In The Game
Half an hour into the ion cloud, the crew of the Jezzabel were still working hard. In the dimmed cold glow of the back-up generator, Kai and Slyder were trying to figure out where they had been pinged. Rat had given them the general area he had heard it, but it was still a large span of metal with more metal attached and without sensors, it was proving to be difficult. "We have to find that tracker." Kai ordered firmly.
"I'm looking, dammit!" Slyder snapped back, "You try finding a small metal tag on a huge metal ass!"
"Just find it." Kai said, but kept his voice flat. "They won't be long in finding the signal for it, even with the sensors offline and I don't have to remind you how much damage a blaster can do without shields."
"So you keep saying." Slyder sighed, renewing his search. A few moments later, "This is fucking useless!"
Kai sighed and shook his head, "For once, I agree." Blowing a small rasberry between his lips in thought, he then looked to Krell. "The captain might have something." He said suddenly, "Would you mind going down and asking her, Krell?" Without power, the comm system wasn't workig properly.........

Re: All In The Game
Krell nodded and headed down to talk to Serenity. But the only way he knew of was to go outside in a suit and look for the damn thing. It would be sending out a signal so finding and tuning into that signal could be done with a hand held device. They had to hurry though. That Heavy Crusier would not be long in finding the tracking signal. He reached her quarters and knocked on the door.
"We haven't much time. We either have to find that tracking device on the hull and destroy it or we have to make a run for it." He called from his side of the door. "Unless some miracle happens." That he doubted would happen. The best thing they could do was just run for the time being, perhaps head into the astoriod field and hope to keep enough of the big stuff between them and the Cruiser till they could locate the tracker.

Re: All In The Game
Serenity poked her head around the shower wall as she heard the knocking. It was Krell. Had they found the tracker? She could hear his voice through the door, but it was muffled and she had to strain to hear it properly. Shaking her head, she wrapped a towel around her and moved across her room to the door. She heard him say something about a miracle as she opened it. The towel covered her modestly enough, but still only just. "In English please." She said to him as water dripped from her hair. Backing up from the door, it was an invite for Krell to enter and she moved back across the room to dry off.
Tucking the towel tight under her arms, Serenity covered her head with another and started rubbing the water out of her hair. "The look on your face is telling me we're running out of time and Kai no doubt has sent you down here for help." She looked at him through a mass of curly blonde hair and raised her eyebrows before she pointed to the old junk on her bed. "Ever heard of a transistor radio receiver?" She asked, "It can pick up frequencies most modern sensors pass off as static. Maybe a little fine tuning and it could pick up the tracker. I was having a fiddle earlier. Help yourself." She pointed to the small box-like contraption.......

Re: All In The Game
When the door opened He saw Serenity, with only a towel wraped around her. It barely covered her, showing off her shapely legs, up to just below her ass and a goodly portion of her breasts. As she talked he could not take his eyes off of her. She opened the door more and basicly invited him in. This was not the same Serenity. He doubted that she would have let him in with her like that before the episode in the med bay.
He looked at the little transistor radio. It was a relic from a time long gone. He picked it up and examined it and began tweeking the fregqency. It had been made to receive radio signals, mainly for music. Now there was but static until he turned it a little more and got the reqular signal impulses from the tracker. It was faint but as he turned it in differnt directions the signal became stronger in one direction.
"Might not be able to silence it in time though. I think we need to power up and make a run for the astorid field." He moved up to Serenity and turned her towards him. He lifted her head by the chin to look at him. "Life is to short for us to be acting this way. No matter what happens to one or both of us, we should make the most of it. Can't you see that it is better to have loved some one, then not at all before it is to late?" He took a chance and bent down and kissed her lips lightly.
Jenney kept her eyes on the sensors, "They are powering up their forward turbo lasers." She turned to Jenkins a worried look on her face.
Jenkins looked at the view screen. "All ahead flank speed. Forward batteries prepare to fire on my mark. Lock on to their forward batteries." The Raven leaped forward.
"Weapons locked on target sir." came the weapon's officer's voice.
"Fire!" Jenkins called out
The turbo lasers erupted into life. Brillient beams of light lanced out into the darkness of space. The bridge crew of the Inquisitor was focused on finding the Jessebel and had forgotten to keep a watchful eye on their rear. The lasers hit the forward batteries just as they were about to fire. Hull plating and turbo lasers erupted into small explosions that rocked the Heavy Crusiers, causing all sorts of alarms to go off. But one of the Cruiser's turbo lasers fired, but had lost its lock. The beam of bright light flashed across the bow of the Jessebel.
"What the hell?" The Captain of the Inquisitor yelled.
"It's the Raven!" one of the crew yelled. "She is closing fast."
"Battle stations!" the Captain Called out. "Come about. We will destroy that bastard Krell and his pirate crew!"
The engines powered up and the huge ship began to turn. Its port turbo lasers fired at the Raven. One grazed the forward hall causing a piece of the ceiling to fall on the pilot, knocking him out. Jenney leaped from her station and took the controls. Her hand flashed over the controls and the Raven responded to her. Jenkins was impressed. She was a natural.
"Weapons, target their engines. " Jenkins called out and was about to tell Jenney what course to lay in but she was ahead of him and manuvering the Raven to come in below the Inquisitor and then up to get a good angle on the engines. He chuckled as she made the manuver, smooth and effortless. The laser cannons fired and was rewarded by the flash of explosions on one of the Cruiser's engines.
The Admiral came up on the bridge. He did not look to happy and the steady stream of damage reports coming in over the comm told him that they were now the hunted and not the hunters. "Take is to hyper drive you fool. Before they target the hyperdrive engines." The Captain licked his lips and immedately gave the command. The huge ship leaped forward and into hyperspace. A cheer went up every where on the Raven. It came over the comms.
On the bridge -
"I hope Krell managed to get something from the boss before we get blown to bits in here." Kai mused quietly as he adjusted what systems he could to cope. The ion cloud was playing real havoc with everything and it was starting on the life support systems now. They wouldn't be able to stay there much longer. Just then.
"Hey Kai, I might have something here." Slyder offered. He'd been tinkering with other systems, mainly the sensors, trying to tune out the radiation and interference. It was patchy, but Slyder really did have something worth nothing.
"Gizzit then." Kai demanded impatiently.
"I've managed to tune out some of the crap out there to pick up the cruiser, but now I'm getting an echo along with plasma bursts." Slyder said, trying his best to keep the signal going.
"You're supposed to be looking for the tracker, moron." Kai said as he moved over to Slyder. However, one look at the screen changed his mood and when the large signal suddenly darted off in another direction, he actually smiled. "That's no echo and those plasma bursts are gunfire. I reckon someone has come to help us!" He raced for the bridge door and then down the corridor. "Boss!" He yelled out, "Boss, someone came to help! The cruiser's done a runner!" He reached his captain's quarters just in time to see Krell with his lips planted on Serenity's. "Boss?"
Serenity smiled and shook her head lightly as Krell all but dissed her idea. "Have a little faith." She told him, "And there is always time....." Suddenly, he was stood right up in front of her with his fingers on her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze. She Heard the words he spoke, but she didn't quite get the chance to absorb the weight of them as before she knew it, his lips were planted firmly, yet tenderly right on hers. In that instant, every neuron in her brain fired, every nerve ending under her skin giving her a jolt of something she had no hope of understanding. Then, just as quickly as it happened, everything then shut down and she was left at his mercy. All her sense seemed to leave her as the towel she had been drying her hair with, dropped on the floor. Her eyes closed and her head tilted back, and she felt she was floating somewhere in space. All over, her skin pimpled with goosebumps and she visibly shuddered with something incredibly close to passion. And try as she might, Serenity was forced to remain that way. She could smell Krell's musky, hard worked scent, filtered gently by sterilizing agents and just a hint of something else. What, she wasn't quite sure yet. A gentle sigh floated from her throat and she almost leaned into the kiss were it not for a distant shout from somewhere outside. The shouting got louder and closer, but everything was moving in slow motion. She finally managed to open her eyes as Kai stood in the doorway, no doubt with his mouth hanging open in shock. She knew it was Kai at least, so that was something good. Slowly, her lips parted from Krell's and she was able to breathe again. "Thank you Kai." She said quietly, her eyes still fixed on Krell's. "Power up and take us out of here."
Kai blinked dumbly, actually hanging onto the door frame. "Uh, sure." He stammered, "Is uh, is everything....?"
"Everything is just fine Kai." She interjected, "Power up and move us out of the ion cloud."
Kai backed up slowly and left them alone, "Yes Boss."
Serenity remained firmly fixed on Krell, "I believe I was saying something about faith?"...........

Re: All In The Game
Krell had expected her to slap him, push him away, scream at him, but she did neither. She seemed to lean into the kiss, to relax and actually enjoy it. He was about to press on with the kiss, to intensify it when he heard the shouting from the corridor. It was Kai's voice. He was yelling out that someone had come to help them. He was then at the door and watching the two of them.
Krell pulled back from her and looked over at Kai. He had picked the wrong time to come down, but he knew that he had ment only to let his captain know some important news. When he left he turned back to Serenity and saw her looking at him. "Yes faith. Perhaps faith in each other." his hand that had been on her chin caressed the side of her face gently. "We can give it a try and see what happens. What say you?"
As the Jessebell emerged from the cloud, the Raven was waiting for them. "Jessebell this is the Raven. Is everyone alright?" came Jenkins voice over the comm.
Kai's voice came back, "We're ok here. Thanks for the assist. Things were looking kind of dicey back there."
The Two ships entered the astroid field. Jenkins figured that Krell would be at the helm, but It was Kai that manuvered the Jessibell into Haven.

Re: All In The Game
Kai had never been happier to see another pirate ship in all his days and his voice echoed that as he replied to their hail. Although, some of that may have been lingering shock at what he had seen not a few minutes beforehand. How Serenity hadn't floored Krell mystified him, but then, the other man seemed to have something about him that not only opened up a softer side to the woman, but perhaps reminded her that she did actually have a heart in her chest somewhere. Either way, he was pleased.
After that rather amazing kiss, short and light as it may have been, Serenity had remained in something of a daze. She had said little to Krell once they had been interrupted, simply stared at him before she had backed up and moved across the room. She had dressed as quickly as possible, showing as little under the towel as possible and then reminded Krell about his professor. She'd then made a discrete escape to a remote part of the ship. Kai had things well in order and she had watched from a small port hole as they returned to Haven. The docking was flawless and the entire crew quickly disembarked.
Slyder immediately went back to Marianne and their daughter Claire. Rat went to find his own flame. That picture must really have been something! Mac seemed happy to take a wander through the vast citadel that had thrived inside the asteroid and Kai was happy to go and find Jenkins to thank him for the help personally. As for Serenity, when she left the Jezabell, the only place she seemed to find herself was back in the apartment that had been given to her last time. Krell's kiss still lingered heavily on her mind and she noticed that she had been staring out of the window in a deep daydream about pretty much nothing but that kiss.......

Re: All In The Game
She did not answer his question nor say anything. She backed away from him and got dressed. Again she did not rant and rave at him as she had when he tried to talk to her at the apartment on Haven. Nor had she slapped him, hit him or anything else that was negative. But she did dress and then left her quarters. He thought of following, but sighed and went up to the bridge to take the Jezzeabell in. But he found that Kai had the command chair and was doing it himself. It seemed he had managed to record the course on the ship's computer. He was going to show Serenity it anyways so it did not bother him.
Once the Jezzebel docked inside haven and the Raven once more rested in the repair dock the crews departed the ships. The parents of Jenney and Reese were waiting, along with the other kids that were apart of the group of want to be pirates. The parents looked anxious and a bit angry. They looked at the two youngsters and were ready to lay into them, when Jenkins interupted. "You should be proud of these two. They have proved themselves today in battle. Reese handled the engineering staion like a pro and Jenney...... She is a natural a piloting a ship. She handled the Raven like she had been in her pilots seat for years. She can anticipate what needs to be done and does it."
The eyes of the other children went wide and their mouths opened, jaws dropping. Jenney and Reese had been in battle, a part of the crew of the Raven! The looks on the parents faces went from anger to pride. The two youngsters were immediately surrounded by the others. "You were in a battle? You flew the Raven?" they were hit with a barage of questions. Both Reese and Jenny looked proud and seemed to glow with something.
"As acting commander of the Raven, I have commissioned them both ensigns." Jenkins added. Both Jenney and Reese turned and looked at Jenkins, their eyes wide. Their parents too were surprised as well as the other youngsters. Jenkins grinned and said, "Of course Captain Krell will have to approve it all."
Krell had just arrived, looking for Serenity and heard what Jenkins had told the parents. He looked over at the two and smiled. He knew the two were destined for ship duty, not that soon but he knew it. He walked up and placed a hand on each of their shoulders, the group of youngsters surrounding them. "Then lets make it official." He looked down at them. The kids around them were jumping up and down with excitment while Jenney and Reese tried to stay calm. Now that they were officially officers, they knew they had to show more restraint.

Re: All In The Game
Serenity had been staring out into the asteroid field for quite a while before she was disturbed. Rahma, after having literally confined himself to quarters after their fight, had finally come out again. He entered her apartment and carefully sat himself in a chair on the other side of the room. "I see you've calmed down again." He told her quietly, "Good thing really, considering we almost had our asses handed to us.... again."
Serenity slowly turned around from the window. "What do you mean; again?" She questioned, "Admiral or not, he never had a chance in catching us. He never did and he never will either."
"I'd say he got pretty damned close, wouldn't you?" He questioned back.
Serenity shook her head slowly, "Never happen." She told him firmly, "I'm too smart for him and so's my dogs."
"You were smart enough that he still tagged you. If it weren't for the Raven, we'd be dust right now, I think."
"Maybe you think too much Brother." Serenity scorned, "You always did. I hear though he got his ass kicked by a couple of youngsters. Jenny and Reese?"
Rahma nodded, "Absolutely." he replied, "There's a whole lot of ado on the deck for them both, the way they handled things. I reckon Krell will make them part of the crew."
"Wouldn't surprise me one bit." She said, mimicking his smile perfectly, "And they deserve it too. Good stock, those kids are."
"Yes they are." Rahma agreed, but then chewed his lip, "About Krell."
Serenity turned to face her twin and cocked her head to one side, "What about Krell?"
"I shouldn't have gone gungho at you about him." The man admitted, "If I'd known what happened to you, I wouldn't have....."
"It doesn't matter." She interrupted, "None of it matters anymore."
Rahma's face brightened somewhat, "So you two aren't gonna kill each other then?"
"No." She said, "We're not at each others throats."
"I feel a 'but' in there somewhere."
"'But' nothing. Krell turned out to be a stand-up guy and I reckon I can trust him."
Rahma almost fell off his chair, "Well, that's a huge turn-around." He choked, "Since when did he suddenly become your trusted guy?"
"Since he thanked me for saving his ass." Serenity taunted.
"Oh, and how did he thank you?"
"He reminded me of something is all." She turned back to the window and stared out again into the blackness. "And he kissed me."
Rahma was instantly on his feet, "He kissed you?" He questioned, "And you let him live?"
Serenity smiled at her reflection in the toughened glass, "Yes."
Seeing her reflection, Rahma smiled too, "That good huh?"
Serenity nodded, "Better."
"Spill!" He ordered.
Slowly, Serenity turned around again to face her brother. She folded her arms and seemed to hug herself, "Imagine floating in space and feeling as safe and secure as in Mum's arms. Then imagine every fiber of your being suddenly electrified and totally turned to just one thing. If you can do that, you've got a fraction of how good it was."
Rahma couldn't help it, he cracked up laughing, "Shit Ren!" he chortled, "You talk like you've never been kissed!"
Serenity scowled lightly, but understood his laughter, "It's true." She told him, "I ain't ever been kissed like that. Playing tonsil tennis with a guy don't get a reaction like that. There ain't nothing I ever felt so good, Ra and you can count on it."
Rahma stopped laughing, "Does he know that?"
Serenity shrugged, "If he does, he hasn't said anything. If he don't, it don't matter."
Rahma curled one corner of his mouth, "Oh, I bet it does." he said, then, "Well, you keep up the dream Sis. I got places to be and people to speak with. Good to know we're still OK though."
Serenity nodded and waved him goodbye before she turned back to the window and started daydreaming again.........

Re: All In The Game
It was something to see. "You helped save the Jessebel and Serenity?" Came the little voices, filled with awe. The two new ensigns were on top of the world now, and with a following. Krell left them all there at the docking bay. It looked as if another party was in the making. He didn't want to get involved in all of that. He went to find Serenity and get an answer to his question.
He went to the apartment that she had been assigned. He saw Rahma coming out and wondered what the two had been talking about. The last time they had talked it was almost like a war zone. He stayed out of sight and let Rahma go on by and then went up to the door and knocked. He hoped that she was still in a good mood. He needed to know what her answer was.

Re: All In The Game
Once again, her daydreaming had been interrupted, but it didn't piss her off so much. She seemed almost serene in her manner, rather subdued and dignified. "It's open." She called, not turning from the window. She expected it to be Valis, or one of her crew come to check on her. She didn't expect it to be Krell. Seeing him in the reflection, she turned around and folded her arms, then leaned back against the sill and cocked her head to one side. "I hear you have two new officers on board the Raven." She offered with a smile, "Congrats to you. And to them. According to Ra, we'd have been toast without their help. They'll make you good crewmen. Though, I doubt their parents would want them trawling the galaxy with you so soon." Her last words were spoken with something close to a giggle that faded after a few seconds when she saw the look on his face. He had a purpose. "What's on your mind Krell?"........

Re: All In The Game
Krell moved into the apartment and towards her. He smiled at the mention of Jenny and Reese. "Well they have been made Ensigns and sort of a part of the crew. Like you said, it will be upto their parents. I have some plans for them and something to show you." When asked what he had on his mind, "I think you know what is on my mind." he said softly. She was calm and she was still in that strange mood she had been in after he had kissed her. He wondered about that. As he reached her he brought a hand up and caressed her face again. "You never answered my question back on the Jessebel. I know that you have thoughts on relationships, but I think we can make a go of it. I think that what happened today is a clear indication that we may not have many opportunities in the future."

Serenity smiled again, "Something to show me?" She had to admit, she was curious. But then he started on about the question she never answered. Question? She had forgotten what he'd said to her on board. In fact, she'd never really taken it in what he'd said, she'd been too enthralled by that kiss to remember. What he said now helped her to remember some of it, but the majority still eluded her. It was something about she and he being an item, or something close to that fact. Then, just as before, he touched her again and kissed her, and she felt herself floating again. However, this time, she was able to keep some of her senses and softly moved her lips away from his. As wonderful as the kiss was, she kept it as short as possible.
"I told you before, Krell. It's a bad idea." She told him quietly, "I know what you said about other couples, but me and you...." She was making excuses and she knew it, and it showed. Every inch of her screamed to go for it. Ever since she had spoken to him in the med bay, she'd felt closer to him, even if she had assumed he couldn't hear her. She had assumed a lot about this man and she had been wrong the whole time. "Maybe after...? After we've dealt with this relic hunt of Valis'?" She offered suddenly as she stared down at his hand still in hers........

Re: All In The Game
The idea of waiting was not a favorable one to Krell. She was being stubborn in the matter, but he could tell that her resolve was waning. "What is the difference between you and I and others. They take chances, we take chances." he said softly "There is no differences." he raised her hand up to his lips and kissed it. "Give it a try, you might be surprised what you find." he was not going to give up.
"I will give you some time to think about it." he brought his other hand up and ran a finger along her jawline, then to her lips. "Come and see what I want to show you." he gently pulled her along with him, keeping hold of her hand as he took her to the docking area and to a shuttle. Once in and seated he took the little craft out, out of haven and past the repair dock where the Raven was. Out further into the astoriod field to a secret shipyard where the new ship was being built. The identical twin to the Raven.
"We had the full plans to the Raven on board her when we stole it and made our escape from the prison planet. She is almost ready to be taken out for her maiden voyage. We have enough to crew her but we need a seasoned command crew for the bridge. I was thinking you and your crew would fill those positions."

Re: All In The Game
The sister ship to the Raven was truly an impressive sight and Serenity had to admit she was absolutely impressed. Two ships of this quality in space against the Empire? The Imperials would have some serious trouble now. "She's truly something." Serenity said openly. "With her and the Raven, the Emperor won't know what hit him." Then he said how they needed a seasoned command crew for the bridge. Serenity looked Krell squarely in the face, then firmed her jaw. "You want me and my dogs to man her?" She questioned, "We already have our own command Krell. I'm not about to give up my Jez to crew another ship for someone else. Don't get me wrong, she's one hell of a ship and anyone would be proud to command her, but I worked too hard to get my hands on the Jezzabel. I can't leave her behind. I'm sorry."..........

Re: All In The Game
"The Jezzabel will still be your ship as will this one. The Jezzabel can remain here at Haven and with your permission be used to train those young rasals. She would be yours when ever you wanted her. But this ship I would not trust to any one else." he told her. He did trust her and knew that her and her crew would make good use of it. "Might even send Jenney and Reese along to round out the bridge crew. I think they would love to serve under your command." He grinned.
"Also if you don't want to leave the Jessabel behind, the lower cargo bay could be transformed into a very large receiving bay for the Jessabel. You could take her with you. So what do you say?"

Serenity could barely believe what she was hearing. The Jezzabel to be used for training? For just a split second, she could have smashed his face through the view screen, but it was just a split second and she was glad she didn't kick off at the thought. And the idea of being given a brand spanking new ship, state of the art, with a full compliment of crew and even have the main hanger turned into a bay for the Jezzabel if she wanted it? It all seemed a little too good to be true. Krell wouldn't trust anyone else with the new ship either. That alone spoke volumes and Serenity found herself giving the offer some serious consideration.
It was a while before she spoke. "I'd need to give it some serious thought." She said eventually, "And I'd need to discuss it with the others before I could give you a definitive answer." She managed to tear her eyes away from the other ship and look at Krell for a moment. "Does she have a name yet?".........

Re: All In The Game
Krell grinned. She was a tough one to sell the idea on. She had a ship, even if it was a small one. But he wanted her in command of the new ship. She had the experience as did her small crew. She was the only one he would really trust with it. When she asked if it had a name yet, "Not yet. That will be for her captain to decide." he told her. He turned the small shuttle around and headed back to Haven.
"I agree, you need to talk it over with your crew. It is a big decision." She had that to think about and of course what they had talked about in her apartment. "She will be ready for her maiden flight in about three days." Once back at the docking area the gently turned her to face him. "Also think about what I asked earlier also." he gave her a warm smile and again took her hand in his and raised it to his lips and kissed it. "I must go now and find the Professor and your uncle and see what has been found." with that he slowly turned and began walking off.

Re: All In The Game
Serenity nodded silently, already thinking up the perfect name for this new bird and she did have a bird in mind for it. No, she thought, you can't do that, not without the guys with you. Then, Krell turned the shuttle around and they made back for Haven. Besides, she had enough to think about for the moment. After he kissed her hand and said goodbye, Serenity stayed aboard the shuttle for a while. It was quiet and no-one would disturb her.
While she thought over things, she stared out at the Raven and the Jezzabel. Her own ship looked so small and vulnerable next to the much larger, newer ship. She looked old and weathered, ready for retirement even. But she still meant so much to Serenity. She had practically grown up on the old girl. She knew every inch of bulkhead and compartment, every repair she had undergone over her years, every fight she had been in. Serenity could even tell when her balance was off, even by a microfraction. The sentimental value of the Jezzabel was immense and she knew that her crew would feel the same. She had to talk to them, see what they said about it all. She pulled her node from her pocket and placed it in her ear.
It didn't take the crew long to converge on the promenade. Slyder stood with Claire on his hip and his arm around Marianne. Rat had his arm around his new girlfriend and Mac sat quite happily next to Kai on a bench. Serenity felt nervous about the offer and it took her some time to find the right words.
"Come on Boss, it can't be that bad." Rat offered.
Serenity lowered her head and gave a small snort of laughter. "No, it's not that bad, I suppose."
"You suppose?" Mac asked, "Captain, whatever it is, you can tell us."
Serenity looked up again and at each of her crew. "I'm not here as your Captain this time guys." She told them. "I'm here as your friend and fellow Diamond Dog. There's no rank or place in this conversation and I want you all to speak as freely as you want. I need your opinions and thoughts."
Kai grinned openly, "Serenity, you've always been a friend and Dog first. At least to me anyways."
"Agreed." Said the others in unison.
"Thanks guys." Serenity said, smiling again.
"So out with it, Child." Mac ordered, "I'm not getting any younger."
Serenity moved to the bench and neatly sat herself in between Kai and Mac, "OK, here it is." She began. "We've been offered a new ship. And when I say new, I mean brand spankers. Never been flown, never even left dry dock." The crew went silent.
Serenity looked at her crew again, her eyes becoming worried by their silence. Mac was looking at his feet, Kai the same. Slyder stared at his daughter while Rat seemed to stare off into nothing. Suddenly.
"What kind of ship is it?" Mac asked.
"She's a copy of the Raven." Serenity told him, "The plans were on the ship when he stole it. He's been building her in another dock outside of Haven."
Mac nodded, "So she's a sister-ship to the Raven?"
Serenity nodded, "Yes."
"Has Krell named it yet?" Slyder asked.
Serenity shook her head, "No." She said, "He's leaving that to me. If we want her. Otherwise, she stays where and how she is."
"Why?" Rat interjected.
"Because he doesn't want anyone else commanding her." Serenity told the youth. "He wants us and only us."
"No." Slyder said firmly, "He wants you. He wants you at her helm and we're just there because of you."
"Now hang on a minute Slyder." Serenity choked, "That isn't fair at all. Krell said specifically, he wanted a seasoned command crew and he wouldn't trust anyone else with her. He never said anything about me exclusively, so don't even think about it. Understand?"
"How quick did you make your mind up to abandon the Jezzabel then?" The man snapped back, putting a large amount of emphasis on the abandon part.
Serenity shook her head quickly, "Oh hell no!" She almost shouted, "No-one is abandoning anyone, is that clear?! I came here to know your opinions on this. I wouldn't dare make a decision without you, all of you and you should know that right off. We've been tight for years and not once have I ever questioned your friendship or motives on anything. How dare you assume that I'm just gonna up and leave Jez just because a newer model has come along!"
Slyder snapped his head up at Serenity, his eyes wide. She'd never yelled at him like that before and every word she said was true. She'd always trusted them all implicitly. "OK, OK, point made!" He admitted, "I'm sorry."
"OK." She replied, then looked around at her friends again. "The decision is for everyone and anyone that says 'no', I won't hold it against you. Jez means as much to me as the rest of you and if you, any of you, don't want to let her go, then we won't."
"What will happen to her if we take the new ship?" Mac asked quietly. "Please tell me they won't leave her to rust in dry dock?"
Serenity smiled and shook her head, "No, she won't be left in dry dock." She promised, "If we give permission, she'll be used to train the young ones here at Haven. Or, if we don't want that, we can take her with us as a secondary ship, back-up or as a runaround for those tight spaces etc. Whatever happens to her is entirely up to us."
Mac nodded, but then looked down at his feet again. "How long do we have to think about this?"
"The ship will be ready in three days." Serenity said, "But it's up to you how long you want to think it over. You all know that I won't leave the Jezzabel without all of you behind me, pushing me out the airlock." She gave a small laugh that was quickly joined by everyone else. "Anyhoo, it's up to you. Until then, I'll let you all think it over. You know where you can find me."
"Would that be in your apartment, or Krell's?" Kai asked with a raised brow.
Serenity spun her head quickly at Kai, her eyes wide, "In my apartment, Kai." She told him firmly, "And if Krell happens to be there too, then so be it. My love-life is my own, got it?"
"So you have a love-life, finally." The man replied with a smile. He then shoved her off the bench, "On with ya, Pup, we gots things to dicuss." He laughed openly and folded his arms to end the conversation between them.
Serenity laughed back, taking the joke and left them all to it. She went back to her apartment to think over things on her own, and wait for whatever decision was made between her crew and whatever information she was given from Valis about the relics. So much to wait for.........

Re: All In The Game
Krell went to hunt down Valis and the professor. He found them in the conference room that was packed with a number of people. As he entered Valis came forward and waved him to a seat. "Glad your here. The Professor is about to brief us." It had taken Krell a while to find them and it was just about the time that Serenity parted with her crew. "Where is Serenity? I would like her here as well."
Kell took his seat and when told that Serenity was wanted at the briefing, he tapped his comm. He had transfered the information from the node she had given him to it. "Serenity?" he said softly. "Valis would like you here at the briefing as well. Confrence room off of the command center."
As they sat there waiting for her he wondered what her crew had said. Would they go for the new ship or would they want to just stick with the Jessabel. He hoped they decided to take his offer. From what he had seen aboard the Jessabel, they knew what they were doing and could handle the larger ship, might even come to love it as much as the Jessabel, as he loved his ship. One could not fly unless they loved the ship.
