Re: Simply Unexpected
Ryota shrugged when he mentioned brass, not exactly knowing what it was. He lived under a rock after all. "It's not?" he questioned, raising an eyebrow as Teioh sat down. He crossed his arms and waited as Teioh started to play, his eyes widening as it ot into the actual drumming part. His eye twitched when the brunette finished, having no idea how the hell anyone managed that. "Umm. . . sure?" he pushed off the wall and dropped his arms, looking doubtious. "I probably have a better bet with this than anything else, but I really have no idea how the hell to do this" he said, laughing slightly. He was pretty sure this would sound horrible, but whatever.
Re: Simply Unexpected
Teioh stood up and handed the sticks to Ryota, "If you break these I'm going to kill you..." he said, "Now I'll find something to help you with..." he said looking around the room. He went and took one of the cases he put it on the ground next to a chair in front of a stand. "Um...I wish I had another kit..." he said he went to the wall and took one of his bass guitars off and wheeled his amp next to the chair as well. "Now uh...let start with this." He walked behind Ryota and turned on the metronome. "So each tick is a beat, drummers often play on the beat and keep the time same with a bass guitar, or a low instrument..." he kicked the case next to him lightly. "Now there is a peddle near your feet put your right foot on the one next to the big drum and match what I do." He said as he plugged in his bass and started playing on low note every other tick.
Re: Simply Unexpected
Ryota took the sticks and looked at them before back at Teioh. "Me? Break them? Phht! Yeah right!" he waved it off, though he made a note to himself to try not to. He sat down and looked at the drum kit, which suddenly looked alot more confusing than it did before. He looked at the metronome and listened to the ticking, "Umm. . . alright then. . . " he said, looking at the guitar Teioh pulled out. He looked down at the peddle, putting his right foot on it as he was intructed. He listened to the ticking, and then the guitar matching on every other tick. "Uhh, 'kay?" he said uncertainly. He hit the peddle experimentally a few times before trying to match with Teioh. He wrinkled his eyebrows together in concentration getting almost in time, but a bit off. He bit his tongue in frustration, getting a bit more in time as he concentrated harder.
Re: Simply Unexpected
"You can't concentrate that hard on just one part. Now there's another peddle for your left foot close that one and don't lift your foot. Take one of the sticks...I don't care how you hold it and do this...but keep bass drum going." Teioh continued to hit every other tick with his guitar but put his foot up on top of the instrument case he had brought as well and started tapping his foot on and between each tick. "You can count it if you want...1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and. You're hitting the drum on 1 and the 3 and the symbol that you're keeping closed with your foot on everything, the numbers and the ands." He explained as he continued to do what he was doing while talking, which he probably wouldn't be able to do if he was actually playing.
Re: Simply Unexpected
Ryota glared at Teioh for a moment before looking back down. If he didn't concentrate that hard, he would screw up completely. He looked down at the pedal and pushed it as well, holding it down. He looked at the sticks in his hand and held one in each, finding a comfortable grip, his fist closed around it with his index finger along the side. It looked right, so he shrugged and looked at the cymbal, starting to count. "One and two and three and four and" he started tapping the drumstick on the cymbal, but while doing this he forgot to use his right foot on the drum, so he looked down and started doing that. As soon as he started doing both of them at the same time he got completely out of tune, not knowing which one to use when anymore. "GRAWRG!" he roared, stopping everything.
Re: Simply Unexpected
Teioh stopped what he was doing when it was clear that Ryota was failing completely. "Yeah so you're not playing that." He said putting his guitar down beside his chair and getting up walking over and taking the sticks from Ryota. He walked over to the instruments and took two cases off. He went over to the table in the room and put them both down. "Open the smaller one." he said pointing at it. He opened the bigger one. "It's my sister's instrument so BE CAREFUL." he said taking his Bass Clarinet out of it's case. He took his reed out of it's case and started sucking on it. He leaned across the table and picked up a smaller reed case for Ryota. "This one's easy, I can probably teach you a scale right off the bat. And you even get an example with buttons double the size." He said with a smirk going and sitting down in the chair he had been in before. Resting the small leg of the instrument on the ground he warmed himself up as he waited for Ryota to take the seat across from him.
Re: Simply Unexpected
Ryota laughed as he handed over the drumsticks, not sure why Teioh was trying to teach him how to play an instrument anyways. He stood up and ran a hand through his still damp bangs, brushing them out of his face. He looked at the cases when they were taken off of the shelf. He walked oer and opened the smaller one, as he was instructed. "I will, don't worry" he said, glancing up before back down. He looked at the peices for a moment before pusing common sense to put it together. He sat down across from Teioh and looked up, having no idea what to do next. "This is all so confusing" he said with a sigh, shaking his head.
Re: Simply Unexpected
Teioh smirked, "It's really not." he said handing him the reed. "Just lick that thing till it's nice and damp then put it under the silver thing up here." He said pointing at his own ligature and reed. Then you're going to put in your mouth about...this much. He pointed a bit above the part where the bamboo had started to be shaved down. "Because if it's any farther then that...you're going to squeak and it sounds like a goose got shot." he explained spinning his back around and putting it in his mouth and blowing it not pushing any of the buttons in demonstration.
Re: Simply Unexpected
"For you maybe" Ryota muttered, taking the reed and looking at it for a moment. "Umm. . . alright then. . . that's a bit strange" he sighed before sticking it in his mouth, looking at the instrument in Teioh's hand and listening to the instructions. He looked down at the clarinet he was holding and stuck the reed in how the brunette had his in, putting the silver thingy around it and tightening the little screw things on the side. "Like this?" he asked, raising an eyebrow and turning it around for Teioh to see. Even with the instructions he had no idea what he was doing.
Re: Simply Unexpected
Teioh smiled as Ryota showed him how he had put it on, "Yeah just like that. Now put it in your mouth like I told you how...and just blow with some force...but uh...not to much or you'll squeak. Like...sigh heavily through your mouth." he tried to explain. "And make sure you're not holding any of the button." He demonstrated on his own instrument. Making a clear unwavering sound. He licked his lips as he pulled his mouth away from the mouthpiece and looked up at Ryota.
Re: Simply Unexpected
Ryota nodded when he was told it was right, a bit surprised. He hadn't expected to actually get it right. He raised an eyebrow at the instructions, looking down at the clarinet. He sort of got that. Kinda. . . it was a bit confusing though. "Okay. . . " he put his mouth on as instructed and drew in a breath, tapping his foot absently and sighing heavily, which made a noise. It wasn't exactly a steady noise, like Teioh's had been, not that he expected it to be. He pulled his mouth away to laugh, not exactly sure why he found it funny, but he was sure the sugar was starting to get to him a bit more.
Re: Simply Unexpected
"Ookay it's a start." Teioh stated with a smirk. He turned his instrument to the side. "Now put these fingers down." He said putting down his left thumb and the first three fingers at the front. "And blow it again...and try lifting one finger at a time, like this." He demonstrated again his notes smooth and powerful but much lower then the notes that Ryota would play.

Re: Simply Unexpected
Ryota bit back his laughter, biting his tongue and taking a few deep breaths to calm himself down, or he knew he'd be laughing every time he tried to play. "Umm. . . alright" he muttered, looking down at his own fingers and putting them where they were supposed to go, using Teioh's as reference. He put his mouth on the mouthpeice again when he was sure he had the right fingers in the right places. He blew the note, which sounded all right, before removing his fingers one by one, wincing as the clarinet sqeaked when he got to his index finger. He pulled it away and looked at it, not too sure as to what he had done wrong. "Uhh. . . oops" he said, laughing slightly, "my bad".
Re: Simply Unexpected
Teioh shook his head and smiled as Ryota squeaked "No it's fine...maybe you aren't completely musically inept. But the Clarinet is an easy instrument." He said with a laugh. "Why do you keep laughing though it's not that funny?" Teioh asked cocking his head to the side slightly. He fiddled with the buttons on his instrument and let out a laugh.
Re: Simply Unexpected
Ryota laughed again and shook his head. "Maybe not completely, but mostly" he said, flicking his head to rid his eyes of his bangs. "Umm. . . well I ate 23 doughnuts and drank an extra large hot chocolate. . . I think the sugar's getting to me" he explained, grinning. His foot was still tapping, and his voice had been a bit of a higher tone than it normally was, and he was speaking faster than normal, so he figured he was right, but he was sure he could still play. If he tried hard enough. He just had to avoid laughing.
Re: Simply Unexpected
"Great...I should have seen that much coming." Teioh said sighing. "Maybe you should go off to bed before it's to late then... or uh...is there anything that calms you down when you're on a sugar high?" He asked cocking his head slightly. He continued to fiddle with the buttons on his instrument and frowned slightly not really wanting to have to deal with Ryota if he was going to be hyper. His sister had stopped playing the piano, and the chances of her coming down here next were high and Teioh wasn't sure if he was looking forward to that much if Ryota sudden decided to get really hyper.
Re: Simply Unexpected
Ryota grinned, nodding. "Yeah, you really should have" he said, snickering. He opened his mouth to protest at the idea of going to bed, knowing that there was no way he'd be able to sleep at the moment, when he paused, closing his mouth to think. "Umm. . . Hidan and Kakuzu used to tie me up and leave me in a closet, Sasori knocked me out with some poison stuff. . . Kisame opened doors when I was running past, which knocked me out, and my dad threw buckets of water on me" he listed off, trying to think of any more things, but he was pretty sure that was it. He smiled and looked up at the ceiling, ignoring the sound his foot made as it tapped against the floor.
Re: Simply Unexpected
"Okay but I don't think my mom would appreciate any of the above..." he said scratching the back of his head, "And I'm sure those plans aren't all that foolproof anyways." Teioh finished with a laugh. "But anyway...my sister will kill me if you break that so...I'm not teaching you anymore." He said reaching over and taking the instrument from Ryota. He stood up and started putting things away, "Why don't you go up to my room or something...try doing something that will not make you start bouncing off the walls even more." He said as he worked at putting all the instruments back in their spots.
Re: Simply Unexpected
"Really?" Ryota asked in response to him saying that his mom wouldn't appreciate. He really wasn't used to normal people. Becuase to him, they weren't really normal. Normal to him was being tied up and left in a closet for an hour or so until he was calm. "Well, they're not really" he shrugged, letting go of the clarinet when Teioh took it. "Fine with me" he shrugged. His foot was still tapping, and his eyes were a little wider than normal, and his voice a bit higher. "Ummm. . . I don't think there's anything that'll stop me from being hyper. . . except te things that I suggested before. Believe me, I've tried. As have the rest of the Akatsuki" he laughed slightly, trying to stiflle it, but he found it a bit funny that they tried so hard but found no cure for his hyperness. And once he started when he was hyper, there was no stopping his laughter.
Re: Simply Unexpected
Teioh nodded as he put the instruments in their proper spots. He sighed slightly and pushed a lock of hair out of his face frowning slightly as he looked around the room to try and find anything he had forgotten. He walked back across the room and put the stands and such to the side thinking of something he could do with Ryota to calm him down. He had a couple violent thoughts but none of them would work and none of them would be approved by his mother. "Um..OH! What about music, do you even OWN music that could be possibly calming..." he paused for a moment. "Stupid question." he said with a nod, "Follow me." he said before walking up the stairs he looked around in the living room his sister was gone, which surprised him, her music was still out though so he guessed that she was probably in the bathroom. He shrugged, "Her lose." he said simply before walking over to the piano. He opened up the bench and pulled out a folder taking out on page and opening it up so he could have all three sheets in front of him before he sat down and motioned for Ryota to sit next to him, "Okay, I want you to sit down and close your eyes, this song is called Cloud Smiles and it's really relaxing, just focus on the music, alright?"
Re: Simply Unexpected
Ryota raised an eyebrow for a moment at the question before snickering. "Yeah, like I own music at all. And if I did it sure as hell wouldn't be CALMING" he snorted. He nodded quickly at the point that it was a stupid question, before he stopped, hurting his neck like that. "Allllriiiiiigggghhhhttttt" he sang, locking his hands behind his head and following him up the stairs, his foot slipping at one point, causing him to go down on one knee and curse. Once he was finally up he crossed his arms and waited, not sure what they were doing. His foot was tapping again, but he couldn't help that. He sat down when instructed, humming quietly. He stopped and raised an eyebrow but he shrugged, closing his eyes. His foot was still tapping but he stopped his humming, as tempting as it was to keep going as he waited for Teioh to start.
Re: Simply Unexpected
Teioh sighed as he glanced at the very fidgety Ryota he shook his head and tapped his own foot for a moment trying to match the speed he knew and the speed on the sheet. When he was pleased with the speed and he put his hands down on the keys and started to play, "Just focus..." he said quietly as he played, unlike his sister he could talk while he played without screwing up. His fingers brushed and pushed the keys with a certain grace not moving as quickly as he could move them, trying to give it the most calming effect he could. The song was very basic, very easy to play, and there was nothing really special until much later on in the song.
Re: Simply Unexpected
Ryota nodded quickly again when he was told to focus, even though he knew how hard that would be for him. He had the attention span of a peanut. It was pretty music, and he had to be impressed by how well Teioh played it, but after a few moments of sitting there with his eyes closed he had to bite his tongue to stop the snickering. It didn't exactly work though. "I feel like an idiot" he whispered, finding it more apropriate to whisper since he was supposed to be concentrating on the music. He tried to listen to it properly, but he was having slight difficulties with that.
Re: Simply Unexpected
Teioh frowned as Ryota spoke. He hit a bunch of keys at the same time, interrupting his own playing, he couldn't help but mentally kick himself for ruining the song. He frowned at Ryota, "If you feel like an idiot because you've got your eyes closed then open them and watch my hands. Maybe you'll feel like less of an idiot then. I'll play something new." he said he shuffled with the music before getting up and grabbing a book off the shelf next to the piano. He put it out in front of him, "This one is called Rose of May." he said before starting to play hoping this time Ryota wouldn't bother to make any stupid exclamation.
Re: Simply Unexpected
Ryota stopped his snickering and opened his eyes. "Sorry" he said, grinning slightly. "Okaaayyy" he rested his arms on his legs comfortably, waiting for Teioh to get the music and sit back down. He blew his bangs out of his eyes, blowing straight up, amusing himself with that as he continued his foot tapping, not even noticing it now. He looked down at his hand mouthes as they started to chew on the material of his jeans and he pulled them away, frowning, but forgetting about them as soon as Teioh started playing. He direced his eyes to the keyboard, and watched the brunette playing, trying to focus on the hands and the music at the same time, wondering if this would actually calm down.
