Re: A Sight to See
"You would rather know what you're afraid of than be oblivious then, hm?" Oblivious was a blissful thing, or usually. He would rather understand the danger in life than not know it and when the time came be utterly confused. Knowing was half the battle, as his friend in England told him, although he had been playing games at the time, he didn't really apply it to life, more or less. It worked in real life too, but not as often pointed out in normal life. "You have conundrums, I see." So many conflicts of what he liked and disliked, Nathaniel shook his head.
Re: A Sight to See
"Pretty much. Although being oblivious must be nice" Draylen sighed wistfully, wondering what it would be like to not have the Sight, and not even believe in ghosts maybe. It would be a change. And he wouldn't be on edge all the time, or had spaz attacks in the middle of stores. "Conundrums?" he was sure he had had Nath explain that one several times, but that was one that always stumped him.
Re: A Sight to See
"Could be..." he sighed. What did he have to worry about? Books suddenly one day deciding to talk to him? Paper talking to him or flying at him and attacking him? Dray had all the stress here, it seemed. Nathaniel had his tuition fees and college to worry about, nothing ultimately supernatural. "Conundrum, I'm nearly positive it's an English word, not British slang. Look at a dictionary for that though." Thinking about that though, the English language, one of the hardest to pick up but becoming one of the most commonly used, had plenty of words from many cultures. It was hard to tell what was originally English these days.
Re: A Sight to See
"Really? I'm feeling stupid now. . ." Draylen sighed, propping his head up on his elbow on the table. "Stupid smart people" he muttered, finding he downside of having a relationship with someone who was both older, and was currently going to college. He felt rather unintelligent sometimes. "I could look at a dictionary, orrrr, you could tell me?" he said a bit hopefully, smiling sweetly at him, hoping to be a bit persuasive with his look.
Re: A Sight to See
Nathaniel grinned, sweeping his hair out of his eyes. "Sure, why not. Conundrum, as I've possible said before, is to have a problem. Nearly like the word conflict." He drummed his fingers on the table, wondering if he ran through a list of some British slang if Draylen would remember it and understand some of the difference between British slang and English words that he didn't know. Maybe not. The only thing he could say the difference was, would be the British slang sounding a bit cut off from a long word.
Re: A Sight to See
Draylen grinned right back, unable to resist Nath's smile. "Ahhh. Right. I think you've told me that one before. I feel really stupid now" he grinned sheepishly, brushing his hair back. "English isn't one of my strong points, in case you havn't noticed" he said, grinning slightly despite himself. He was good at math, and fairly good at science, but english was lower than the others, due to his lack of comprehension of terms sometimes.
Re: A Sight to See
"You're not stupid. Daft would never be described to you. It depends on how much you read though, that's a factor. Not reading as much as the next definitely doesn't determine intelligence level." Odd how the American was weaker at English. That didn't make him any less of the man Nathaniel was getting to know, it just told him he needed to repeat himself a few times. He didn't mind for Draylen. Anyone else and he might have snapped or gotten a bit edgy if he had to repeat an answer.
Re: A Sight to See
"But I read alot, that's the sad thing" Draylen sighed, running his hand through his longish hair, brushing it back from his face and holding it there for a minute before letting it fall back into place. "I'm glad you don't think I'm stupid though" he laughed, not sure what he would do if the other male aactually thought he was stupid. He would have to prove the other wrong, but it would be a bit upsetting.
Re: A Sight to See
"Stupid is as stupid does," he said, "or that's the expression I've heard. You don't do stupid things, from what I know yet." Stupid didn't qualify as ignorant, stupid was bad choices or dangerous ideas, in Nathaniel's opinion, maybe he wasn't adventuristic enough to want those kinds of things and consider something hazardous as bad. "Just don't do anything your mother wouldn't approve of, for the most part." He had to be careful how he worded that. How many mothers wanted their kids to be gay?
Re: A Sight to See
((XD im pretty sure adventuristic isnt a word buddy. adventurous is more like it))
Dray grinned, laughing lighty. "Yeah, I do try to avoid doing stupid things" he nodded, able to accomplish that most of the time, but every teenager had their moments where things seemed like a good idea at the time. He laughed again, blushing slightly. "Umm, yeah, I think it's a bit too late for that" he admitted. He had done a few things his mother wouldn't approve of, but she never needed to know that.

((Dunno, I know it's not because the computer said so, but I made it up because it sounded cooler))
"I don't think you'll ever completely agree with your parents. Outside influences tend to veer you from what they want you to become, thus you don't become exactly as they plan, if they do that at all." His parents were lenient on that, he and Leland were raised to be whatever they could be instead of having rules and customs forced on them. They were guided in the right direction but were given the rest of the leash to lead by. "I don't think I'll ever become a parent some day, I dunno.Husband or wife, depends if they want kids. I'm not picky."

Re: A Sight to See
((XD nice buddy))
Nodding, Draylen wondered what his mother wanted him to become. It was obviously a diappointment to her that he wasn't furthering his education or doing anything remotely productive, but he tried. "Yeah. I think every mother wants their kids to grow up, get a great education, good, well paying job, and get married and have more kids. I personally couldn't imagine marrying a woman. Being gay and all, that's just. . . ew" he made a face, laughing slightly. A few of his ex boyfriends had agreed with him on that, but one of them had been bisexual, and was fine with it.

Re: A Sight to See
"That's why you don't bother thinking about what sex would be like until you've furthered a relationship with anybody," Nathaniel said, "you focus on enjoying yourself for the time being, putting aside that any day you could become closer or move farther away." Relationships were a balance and trust thing, partners had to have both for the other. You had to be willing to step an extra few feet to meet them, or you'd get no where in the partnership. Odd how human relationships with others worked. "I can't see myself marrying some day, but I choose not to see it because I have no idea who I'll be with in the end. I see your point of not wanting to marry a woman, but all the same, pointless to imagine union through laws before the time comes."
Re: A Sight to See
"Yeah. I'm glad at least somebody sees that the way I do" Draylen said, smiling at Nath. He had gone closer than he wished to having sex, but regretted it, and remained a virgin. He didn't want to be the kind of person to have sex with someone he didn't feel as deeply for. "Women are impossible to live with, unless it's your mother" he laughed slightly. He loved his mom, but like any teenaged boy, she got on his nerves sometimes.
Re: A Sight to See
Nathaniel being the lead of most of his relationships hadn't led them on to anything implying sex. He let his partner take the lead sometimes, but never let them get far enough to lead him to a bed or something. He never removed clothes either, for the both of them. "Mums can get a bit potty, just, it's hard to choose between confronting them or leaving them alone so they can wear it off for themselves." Every lady had something going about them though, otherwise they wouldn't have a partner, right?
Re: A Sight to See
Draylen laughed slightly, agreeing with that completely. "Yeah, they can be slightly phsycotic sometimes. Or at least mine can" he grinned, thinking of the moods his mother could get in sometimes. He loved her dearly, but sometimes he swore she was insane. "But what would we do without them?" his question was rhetorical, but he smiled. Without his mom, he wouldn't be there.
Re: A Sight to See
Nathaniel could think of loads of what would happen if he didn't have his mum, ignoring the obvious of not existing. He wouldn't be here in America for starters. He also might not have been as motivated to be in the top ten of his school. His grades had been supported by his mother, not his father. His father had wanted him to be more of a sports person, like most fathers liked their sons to be. He was getting Leland to do that instead now. Nathaniel would be the brains of the two, and if Leland got taller, he could be a sports person in time.
Re: A Sight to See
Draylen fiddled with his empty coffee cup, looking up as a group of guys he knew from school walked in, his second boyfriend and his friends. That had been the only relationship with a guy that he had actually ended, and that was because he wasn't ready to let the other in his pants. The male shot Nath a dirty look, evidently jealous, but Dray ignored it and looked back down. "If my mother wasn't around to feed me, I'd probably be dead by now. I really can't cook" he laughed half-heartedly, trying to keep the conversation going.
Re: A Sight to See
It seemed to Nathaniel that Draylen wanted to pretend as if the other male and group had never walked in. He'd play that too for a while until or unless something else happened with that group. "Cooking is a chore, I'd agree. So bleeding messy." He rolled his eyes. He had to cook for himself when he was home. He liked the warm up meals, maybe the oven meals too, that took less than an hour to make. He had that down pat, thankfully. "They have classes for cooking. Actually, they had those in high school. I wonder why I never took a few." He had been busy with other credits, a few AP credits too. Those were stressful enough.
Re: A Sight to See
Draylen was a bit relieved that Nathaniel chose to ignore the boys for now, and he hopefully wouldn't ask any questions. He wasn't sure how he would answer them. He looked pointedly away from the group, hoping to pass a message on to the group. "Yeah, the only thing I can really do is make toaster waffles and pizza pops" he grinned, not finding it hard to grin around Nath, even given the circumstances. Just being around the reader made Dray happy.
Re: A Sight to See
(Silly buddy, I see those italics)
Draylen felt edgy, like he was thinking of something else that made him anxious. Nathaniel was sure it had something to do with the new group that walked in. From what he could see from his peripheral sight, a few glanced over now and then. Not often to make him think they were going to start up a conversation, but often enough to know they were thinking something too. "Toaster waffles? Is that what you call them? Why not just waffles? And why only the toaster? They taste fine in the microwave. A little soggy but it's fine."

Re: A Sight to See
((XD hellz yeah! i mean. . . uhh, what italics?))
Draylen wasn't sure if it was just him, or if Nath was paying slight attention to the group that had recently walked in. He knew he was a bit transparent with his feelings, but he hadn't thought the Brit would have seen it something to look into. "Yeah, toaster waffles, because you're supposed to cook them in the toaster. Microwaving them is kinda gross" he laughed slightly, able to feel a glare flick to him at the sound, which he ignore, as it was gone in a few moments.

Re: A Sight to See
"Microwaved waffles aren't that bad. Soggy and they get a bit cool faster, but still, waffles." Nathaniel didn't like the toaster. It made him jump even when he was expecting the object of food to jump out at him. He tried to avoid using it when he could, just for the reason of it scaring him. He didn't eat toast anyway. Biscuits, hobnob, whatever. Just, not toast. "Those freezer meals are okay. I like them when I burn them though. They taste a little better overcooked, I think." Burnt macaroni meal, he liked the brown dried cheese that was normally in the corners of the box.
Re: A Sight to See
"I'm not a fan of. . . soggy things" Dray admitted, screwing up his face slightly but laughing. "Really? I like them done perfectly. Not underdone, not overdone. My mom likes it underdone, my dad likes it overdone. So there's a comprimise and I get my way" he grinned, liking how that always worked out for him. Out of the corner of his eye he saw the one in the group of guys that he liked the least, but had once been closest with, stand. He stiffened slightly, but tried to ignore it, hoping he would walk past them. "When one of them isn't home for dinner, there's normally a fight over how we cook it" he laughed slightly, since they weren't real fights, just joking squabbles that normally ended in laughter.
Re: A Sight to See
"At the moment it's just me cooking for my brother," Nathaniel shrugged. "Dogs eat whatever I don't." He had to keep Leland from feeding the dogs too much, but he fed them anyway. As long as the other male wasn't watching him just toss food to the dogs, otherwise the action would be repeated and never let alone again. Was something going to happen? He could see a stirring in the movement of the group. Maybe they were leaving. Oh, but they'd just gotten here. Maybe they were leaving anyway? They unsettled Draylen, he hoped they were on their way.
