A Sight to See - Page 10 Empty Re: A Sight to See

((weird))

Draylen laughed slightly, thinking of how much trouble someone would get in for driving on the wrong side of the road, but it would be incredibly amusing, unless someone got hurt. "Yeah. Just hope it isn't anybody important" he figured the less important the person, the less trouble. "Mhm. That's why I want to travel when I'm older. See what this world has to say about itself in different places" he grinned, having seen enough pictures to know how cool it would be.

"Define what 'older' would be?" Nathaniel asked him, considering that adults usually traveled with the saying 'travel while you can' and went around forties to fifties, sometimes earlier, not usually later. "I say travel when you're young and travel more when you're older. Don't visit the same place twice unless you've got a good reason." He wanted to see other places, but America had never really been on that list. He now knew he didn't need to check America out.

Draylen shrugged, not exactly having much of an answer for that. "'Older' being when I have the money" he replied, that being the only answer he could think of. That was all there was to it, really. His family wasn't very wealthy, and he didn't have much of a job, even if there were two, so he would probably only be able to go once he had a good job. "Yeah. That makes sense, except for the people who don't have the opportunities until they're older" he tapped his fingers on the table to a beat stuck in his head, taking a sip of his drink with the other hand.

Nathaniel sloshed his around as he sipped from it, finding it rather amusing to watch the liquid move inside and around the cup. "Once you're older and have money, hm. Human life is kind of boring if you have to wait until you're old to do the cool things, don't you think?" Poor humanity was quite the bore, the same cycle over and over. He was supposed to enjoy it while he had it, but it was hard to in knowing you were going to get old. "You have any plans for you future? Anything big?"

"Yeah. People should be able to do things while they're young. Like, you're in your prime! I'm almost there. Give it a year or two, but still" Draylen finished off his coffee with a last sip, setting the empty cup down on the table. "Well, I've always wanted to do something huge, just to prove to the world that just because I'm gay doesn't mean I can't do anything, like Adam Lambert. But I'm not that talented in anything. Only thing I can do is dance to the point where I don't look like an idiot" he shrugged, figuring he would find something eventually.

"Who? Ah, him, never mind." Nathaniel got who he was talking about now, it had taken a moment to recall the name of one of the rising stars of the public who was also being daring, almost too daring. Nathaniel approved, but he feared the public who might do something rash and ridiculous. The world might never change, but if he said that, he might as well say Civil Rights didn't happen according to the text books. Someday things might change, he just didn't think it'd be soon or would work on many people. For every supporter, there was three oppressors to change. "Hm, well, you don't need to do something fantastic. Something simple is a good way to start."

Post by RippedNose Thu Dec 16, 2010 7:48 pm

Draylen raised an eyebrow when the reader asked who, but he was almost relieved a moment later when Nathaniel got it. He would be surprised if there was any gay person in North America who didn't know who Adam Lambert was. "Yeah, something small would be good to start, but I don't want to make a real career out of it or anything. Just get myself out there with a bang, and then go back to whatever I was doing before" he shrugged. That was probably the only flare of spontaniosity he had in him. And even then, since he was planning it, it wouldn't even be spontanious.

"Hm, I can see wanting to put your name in history just so you're not another one of many who played the ordinary life." Some people didn't want to be wiped clean of the earth until their name was on something big and important. Nathaniel toyed with the idea sometimes, about being someone who got their name anywhere, like an author, but it was just an idea. He didn't know if he'd carry it out or not. He had yet to go through college to see what he really wanted to focus on in life. "Well, things will happen for a reason, so just wait and watch, I guess." Everything is set in stone for the humans, they just had to figure it out.

"Yeah. The ordinary life is something I want too though. Once I get famous for doing one thing, I want to settle down and live with the person I love, get married, etc." Draylen smiled slightly. That was as much as he had planned out. He was pretty sure everyone wanted that last bit, but many gay people didn't get that. "Mhmm. I don't like to just sit back and watch what my life becomes though" he shrugged, not liking the control fate could have on him. He would go with it though, anyways.

"Get married? Is that really that likely to happen? Orientation is everything in government these days. They've got your Congress banning gay marriage and any court cases relating to it. Your military won't accept gays, and if they find you you get the boot." Really, how ridiculous. This place, America which was known as the melting pot, couldn't even accept something like this. Maybe in time, but he didn't see it any time soon. "Well, ordinary life is appealing for the common man, and the common man is a coward, so he doesn't usually make it. Give it your best go, I guess."

Draylen grimaced slightly, well aware of how anybody who wasn't completely straight was treated. "Yeah, I know. Trust me. But it's still one thing I'd love. To get some peace, and be able to spend the rest of my life with the man I love" he shrugged, looking down at the table and fiddling with his empty coffee cup. He didn't like what people had to go through in America, but he didn't want to move to another country. He had heard that Canada was so much better with dealing with homosexuality, but he wasn't sure he wanted to move there.

Post by Nyako-Chan Fri Dec 17, 2010 5:19 pm

"Hm, other places deal with it worse, so I guess this is one of the...nicer ways to handle it." The people hated things they didn't understand, things that strayed from the norm that they were used to. He and Draylen were a few miles from the norm and did what they could to fit in, he supposed. They could feel things other people couldn't, Draylen could see and hear things others wouldn't believe. Sometimes he didn't feel human, but had to figure it wasn't possible to be anything else. "I almost wish I was normal, but then, the things I've done and seen wouldn't exist to me at all."

A Sight to See - Page 10 Empty Re: A Sight to See

Post by RippedNose Fri Dec 17, 2010 5:46 pm

"Makes me glad I don't live somewhere scary" Draylen sighed. He couldn't imagine living somewhere that people were executed for being gay, even if gay bashing wasn't that uncommon around these parts. "Only reason I wish I was normal is because ghosts scare me. I think I would be a lot happier if I couldn't see them, but at the same time, it can be kinda cool, and I can meet people like us and know right away" he smiled. Him being a lot happier might be pretty impossible though, since he was always happy.

Post by Nyako-Chan Fri Dec 17, 2010 5:56 pm

"That does pose as a problem, doesn't it? Well, maybe we can fix that some time. I'd like to help you work on that. I can imagine enough ghosts would like help moving on if you could face your fear and speak to them." The Sight would be a good gift, he'd see someone getting used to seeing them and accepting that they can see them. "If it helps at all, they were just like you and I. They still are, just....kicked the bucket a while already is all." He could see a lasting relationship between the two. He didn't like to try to imagine marrying the person he was dating, because it was pointless to think that far ahead, but he could think that if this wasn't permanent it was at least a long one.

"Yeah? I guess having somebody around would help, if I ever wanted to try" Dray agreed, although not sure he would ever want to try. If he was too scared to go near them, he was way too damn scared to talk to one. "Yeah. . . that doesn't exactly help much. I've always been squemish of dead things" he grimaced, unsure if that was because of his Sight, or he just was anyways. Dead things had always just scared him, and grossed him out.

Post by Nyako-Chan Fri Dec 17, 2010 6:58 pm

"Squeamish? Don't they just look like how they were when they were alive?" he asked, ignoring how games and books portrayed them sometimes as bloody, angry creatures with missing appendages of some sort. Or something messed up with their floating bodies. Maybe Dray saw them as normal people who just kind of had one expression on their face all the time, or maybe he saw them like video games said they looked like.

"Yeah, but they just bother me. Even seeing roadkill creeps me out" Draylen explained, feeling slightly foolish for feeling that way, but he wasn't going to lie about it. He was open with people, so he wasn't going to hide it. "Sometimes I'll touch a doornob or something, or walk through a cold spot, and get like, an image of someone mangled and bleeding or something, but that's the only gruesome things I see. They always look like they're alive" he explained, brushing his hair back from his green eyes.

Post by Nyako-Chan Fri Dec 17, 2010 7:40 pm

"Why would you see someone mangled and bleeding?" he asked, eyes widening slightly. What a traumatizing sight, if he thought about it. He enjoyed reading that stuff, but didn't think he could handle it as excitedly as he did with books if that were to occur in real life. "Well, that's good if they look alive still. How can you tell they're different from the real alive people?" he questioned. "Do you just feel that they aren't alive?" That was his guess though, maybe it was true when it came with the Sight. You just knew they weren't supposed to be there to the ordinary eye.

"It only happens normally on ground level, and it's kinda like a history of someone dying there. Like, stone age and such. If I think about it after, it can be pretty cool, but its terrifying, and almost gives me a heart attack. I always run like hell" Draylen sighed, trying to force back some of the things he had seen. It had only happened a few times, thankfully. "Well, like in movies and such, they're slightly transparent, and white. Kindof a giveaway. They're pretty much shadows left behind of what they were, I guess" he shrugged, glancing instinctively towards the corner of the room.

A Sight to See - Page 10 Empty Re: A Sight to See

Post by Nyako-Chan Sat Dec 18, 2010 3:35 pm

"Shadows, how appropriate." Ghosts were remnants of their earthly shells, their consciousness and essence left behind. Nathaniel's cards were just pieces of paper with pictures on them, each different. His gift could easily be passed off as psychological issue of 'hearing' his cards talk. Draylen's was harder to explain as just 'seeing'. They could both get recommended for help of some sort, if he thought about it. Best to keep it to themselves, or at least very few people. "We sound barmy right about now," Nathaniel remarked, smiling at the thought. "We must be just a little bit though to understand any of this."

Draylen hummed his agreement to how appropriate that was, having thought of that analogy a long time ago to describe what he saw to others with the Sight. He knew some people who believed in ghosts, but thought he was making it up to seem special. "Yeah. But how do we know we're not the normal ones, and everyone else isn't crazy?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. It was always possible, in this day and age.

"True. The norm isn't always what everyone else is, but if everything has been 'normal' for the longest time possible, that has to be normal, no?" He had always wondered when something good was going to happen in the world, but decided if nothing good has happened in a time when it was more likely, then it was never going to happen, or at least not anytime near his time alive. "Something cool needs to happen that says we're the normal and everyone else is something different."

Draylen laughed, liking the idea of everyone else being the strange ones. "Yeah. Normal for one person isn't exactly normal for someone else. If I just stopped seeing one day, I would probably be scared, just because it would be weird" he shrugged. That and the fact that he could be standing right on top of a ghost, and not know it. "Scientists need to get on that" he nodded, thinking it would be pretty awesome for somebody to prove that.

"Logic is an odd thing, might as well not mess with it..." The again, it wasn't necessarily their fault for messing with it. He chose to accept things as they were, just because they were there they were supposed to be. Why question destiny, as they say. "If you didn't have Sight anymore you wouldn't have to be as scared as you are of the things you see. That's nearly a good thing if you think about it."

"Messing with logic can be mildly entertaining sometimes though" Draylen said, leaning back in his chair and stretching his legs out, trying not to hit Nathaniel while he did this. "Hmm, well that's not necessarily true. Because I'd know they're there, but I wouldn't be able to see them, so I wouldn't be able to keep my eye on them when they're around" he pointed out, squirming slightly. He never wanted that to happen.
