Alec couldnt help but smile, he rubbed his temples. Maybe he had been wrong. NO he shook his head, Everything he loved had been taken from him. He couldnt get attached again.

Annora giggled and clapped as she was given the flower. Instead of sniffing the flower she blew out and some peddles blew off and her bottom lip started to tremble.

Adriana chuckled when Annora blew the flower and the petals flew off. "It's okay. You didn't break the flower. It is still quite lovely."

Annora looked up at Adriana her eyes still full of wonder but she wasnt near tears but she now tried to eat the the flower.

Alec chuckled softly then shook his head. He was still watching but he wanted to turn away. His heart ached for the young child she was a spitting image of her mother, but she was so sick. What if he got attached and then she died, he wouldnt be able to defind his land if they were attacked again, like when his wife had died. He continued to watch the two.

Adriana chuckled, in amusement as Annora tried to eat the flower. "oh you are so adorable." she took another flower and lightly tapped the flower on the little girls nose.

Annora giggled in a child like high pitch then coughed her little body trembling then she snuggled into Adriana's chest. Gaurds came rushing. "Is she alright?" It was clear that even though Alec and tried to not allow anyone to get attached everyone was getting attached to the little angel.

Adriana rubbed Annora's back when she started coughing. "Shhh," she cooed. Her gaze shifted to the guard. "she just coughed. I am sure she will be fine." gently, she kept rubbing Annora's back.

The guard smiled. "It was about time she comes outside, tired telling the Laird that being stuck inside is no place for a child" He smiled at Adriana, "I think you be exactly what he needs" He raised his eyes to the tower where Alec stood bowed his head then whispered "Dont back down, he doesnt relize it but I have young ones at home, they can tell when someone is not wanting to be near them no mater how young"

Adriana nodded. "Aye. I will do everything to help her, even get the Laird to love her." Lightly, she kissed the top of Annora's head. Adriana came to help her friend, and now she was determined to nurse Alec's daughter back to health.

The guard bowed to her. "He isnt as hard as he looks, but dont let him know I told you, he does have a anger on him" He then softly ruffed Annoras hair. "She be a spitting image of her mama, I be thinking thats why" He paused "You know" He didnt want to upset Annora by saying what everyone knew.

Annora turned and giggled. "She is a sweet heart, I am glad to hear the doctor isnt comeing, she always gets sicker when he come"

"seems I must keep many secrets from the Laird." Adriana didn't mind. "She gets worse when the doctor comes?" that made her wonder. "do you think that perhaps the Doctor purposely does something that makes her worse?" it was a terrifying thought, that a doctor would try to make a child sick.

The guard chuckled. "Alec is a loving Laird, just doenst like to get close, but once he declares something is his, there is no fighting him on it" He rubbed his chin when asked the question. "Tis not my place, but when the doc was away from a few months, tending to the other clans, little Annora was quiet well, we had run out of the doctors herbs, and we were all worried but Annora was so well she actually stood up to me when I tried to remove the cat that had been attached to her"

He paused "When the doc came back, he was very angrey that we had stopped giving her the herbs and ordered us to always keep some on hand, thing is my daughter fell ill with fever, but none of the same orders were given" He shook his head "I dont know what to make of it, I do know I broke his nose in hearing he hit Annora"

Alec up in the tower growled. The doctor had dared touched his daughter, he listened to everything, nothing made sence. He needed anserwes.

Adriana had never thought herbs could do harm. She'll just have to research the herbs that the doctor wanted them to give Annora. "I am glad you broke his nose. No one shant harm a child." A thought crossed her mind. "do you know where the cat is?"

"I was suppose to kill it, but it was just a kitten, so I couldnt. The cat hangs around, sneakes into Annoras bedroom, probably in the" He paused and stepped closer. "Room still, unless its hunting" Doesnt like to leave Annoras side too much.

As if on cue a cat came out of the keep and walked over to Adriana tail twitching sniffing her then mewed to the gaurd and clawed at his leg the gaurd chuckled and bent down scopping the cat who imeditaly sniffed at Annora and licked her nose and glared at Adriana.

"The cat be checking to see if you mean harm" The guard said softly then Annora clapped her hands "Kit kit" she said then pointed and petted the cat looked at Adriana with a joyful look.

Adriana glanced to the cat, and smiled softly. "oh what a lovely cat." she was glad the guard didn't kill the cat. It would have been a terrible loss. She watched as he picked up the cat and Annora recieved a rough lick from the loyal feline.

Hearing what he said, Adriana smiled. "fear not, noble feline, I shall never harm Lady Annora for as long as I live."

The cat meowed again and it almost looked ike he nodded. The guard smiled. "I think he knows that" He put the cat back down but the cat stayed close. Little Annora looked around again and sighed. She leaned against her chest and closed her eyes. Clearly tired again but happy. All the fresh air seemed to already clear up her chest and returning a little colour to her cheeks.

Adriana smiled softly. "Smart cat." she looked down to the sleepy happy child. She was glad Annora was feeling better. "would you like a nap, lady Annora?" if windows were closed in the childs room, she planned on opening them.

Annora shook her head "No nap" She said with a big yawn causing the gaurd to chuckle. "She must trust you already to say no, she is a loving child but so scared to disapoint anyone" He bowed to Adriana, "Welcome to the highlands, I trust that you do not see all of us as gruff"

He looked up at the tower where Alec stood. "I think you are exactly what we need here" He nodded again, "Exactly, if you need anything, Brodrick be my name"

Adriana chuckled. "No? Oh but you look mighty tired." She glanced to Brodrick and she nodded with a smile. "Thank you. You are a great help." This clan seemed so welcoming, and warm. And they all seemed to care for Annora. Now if she could get Alec to show how much he cares. She knew he did, she knew he loved his daughter, even if he didn't know it.

Annora shook her head again strated to suck her thumb. Alec appeared and stood with his feet braced apart and his hands on his hips. "Annora if Lady Adriana says its nap time then its nap time no agurments" He said in a booming, gruff voice that made her jump and cower into Adriana chest.

Blast it all to hell Alec glared at his daughter cowering from him. He threw his arms up in the air and stoomed off.

Little Annora peaked out and whimpered. "Nap" She was still slightly shaking and her thumb had gone back into her mouth, .

Alec had startled Adriana as well, but she somehow managed to not show it, lest she startle the child even more. She watched as he stormed off. Did he not know that he should be gentle? And not so angry? she would have gotten Annora down for a nap, with a far more gentle tone of voice.

Rubbing Annora's back, she whispered in the child's ear. "Don't worry, sweetness, he just isn't aware of his own strength, or his tone of voice. I'll teach him how to talk to you."

turning, she headed back to the keep, and back to Annora's room.

Annoras eyes twikled. She was little but she knew who that man was, and that for something she did he didnt like her, he was always cross with her, she couldnt figure out why. Maybe if she was better, maybe if she hadnt killed her mother, she heard the mumers in the hallway. She snuggled into Adriana and whimpered.

"Kit kit?" As if on cue the cat meowed and jumped up on the bed and looked at the two Adriana and little Annora that she was holding. Annora yawned a big yawn and rubbed her eyes.

Adriana brought Annora into the room. She would protect this child with everything she had, and work hard at making her better again. Adriana did not trust the doctor's methods, and she had a feeling he actually wanted to do Annora harm. The herbs he wanted to be given to her will be taken away, and she will figure out just what they are.

Gently, she put Annora in her bed, and she smiled at the cat that had jumped into the bed. There weren't that many cats that she knew that were that loyal. It was like the cat thought of Annora as his child.

Once she was laying in the bed Annora took the cat and snuggled into her blankets. She took a look at the herbs and pointed. "Owieee" She said her lower lip trembling again. The cat curled into a ball and Annora closed her eyes and was soon fast asleep.

Alec was busy training, yelling at his men for making mistakes. He finally throw his arms up in the air and stormed off again taking his bow and arrow and started training with that.

"owie? It hurts?" Adriana frowned as she looked at the herbs. She grabbed them. "have a good nap little one," she whispered and covered the child up with a blanket that would keep her warm without suffocating her. Then she went to the windows and opened them so the room wasn't so stuffy.

Then she made sure one of the women would look after Annora as she slept. After that was done, she left with the herbs in hand, determined to find out about them.

The other women sat down and looked down at the babe, she looked loads better. She and Martha had both rufused to give her the herbs, and since both of them were on the watch this week they got away with it, the fevers were less and the rash was nearly gone. Now she had been outside. The woman took Annoras hand "Be strong my little one, you will fight this and get better" She smiled at the cat "And you earned some meat from the kitchen, such a good kitty you protect her well, and you will be staying here"
