Adriana thought he would ask questions. But he didn't. Like the subject didn't really matter. But though that annoyed her, she was glad he didn't ask questions. Because if he had, she would have to avoid answering. And that would just be a hassle.

Dishing up he handed a wodden plate to Adrianna and sighed and then dished up and ate himself. He looked at Adriana. He was lost in her eyes and mouth and he found himself wondering what was under all those clothes. He wanted to run his fingers throught her hair and strock her body which he could only guess was smooth.

He didnt understand his reactions, he had taken many other women into his bed, but none fasinated him as much as Adriana did.

Adriana took the plate with a thanks, and ate in silence. She kept to her thoughts, she felt things for this man that she shouldn't. She wondered if it was because she was forced to stay away from men, practically locked away. Her uncle had the appearance of being protective of her, but she didn't believe that. The way he acted made her think that there was something more than that.

Although he was eating and watching his men he couldnt keep his eyes off of Adraina. Some thing was different about her, he was certain that she was pure which ment he couldnt take her into his bed. Never bed a virgin unles you are married to them, that was his fathers advice and he was going to listen to it.

He still couldnt understand this woman though and the sooner they got to the highlands and their home the better.

"We should all retire soon its going to be another long day, I want to get home amd I am sure that you want to as well" He winked to his married men and they all laughed "Aye"

Adriana glanced to him, and finished eating. Pushing her hair behind her, she got up, and made her way to the tent, he confused her as well. She honestly had no idea what to do around him.

Alec growled grabbed his sword and spoke to his second in comand. "Watch the camp" Alec then went into the woods and began to swing it around he was clearly frustrated and after 30 minutes was not feeling any better. He came back and leaned up against a tree. And so that no one would talk to him he crossed his arms and closed his eyes.

All his men knew what was happening and wondered how long it would take Alec to realize that he was falling for the woman.

Adriana crawled into her tent, and laid on her side, sighing deeply. Her eyes closed. there was something about Alec, and she had no idea what she felt about him. Eventually, she drifted off to sleep, with thoughts of him on her mind.

Alec barely slept he kept his eyes on the tent, he knew that in the tent held Adriana, sleeping. Most likely naked. That made his manhood stir. He growled but finally a couple of hours before dawn he fell asleep, he was soon awoken by his men moving around he stood and took down camp.

Letting Adriana sleep as long as he could before he walked over to her tent and coughed lightly. "Lady Adriana be you awake?" He paused "We must be on our way, with luck we shall reach my home tonight before nighfall"

Adriana opened her eyes when she heard his voice in the morning. She yawned and crawled out of the tent, still in her dress from the day before. "I'm awake. We'll really be there soon?" she asked him, eager to see her friend again. A sleepy smile played across her lips. "I'm sure you'll be glad to be rid of me."

Alec scowled even first thing in the morning she looked beautiful. He nodded. "Aye, my men grow restless they yearn for our homeland, and I want you to have the comforts of a bed"

He shook his head "Nay just because we are in my homeland doesnt mean I will be rid of you I think you will be a thorn in my side for a long while"

Adriana frowned at him when she saw his scowl. "Did you know you always look so scowly around me?" she asked him. "I am a thorn to you?" Was she really that bad to be around?

"I am not scowly" Alec said then stood and once she was out of her tent with the stuff he tore it down and packed it up. While he was doing that an older member of their traveling party came up to her.

"Forgive my laird mi lady, he isnt used to dealing with females, he doesnt mean to be so serly he just doenst relize he is doing it he thinks he has to be strong for all of us, to show weakness is not becoming of a leader or so he thinks"

Oh he was very scowly, but she did not argue with him. Instead she moved off to the side when he took down the tent and put it away. Her gaze shifted to the older man as he approached and spoke to her. "well, perhaps he should get used to a female around; if he thinks I am going to be a thorn in his side for a while."

Alec noticed Duncan talking to Adriana and sighed. Soon Adraina would know his story then her opinion of him would change. But there was no stopping it so he pretended to be busy checking on the horses.

Duncan rubbed the back of his neck. "Alec wouldnt want you know, but he was married once before, his wife died birthing his daughter." Duncan sighed "He doesnt let himself get close to anyone, so dont take it personally"

Alec came back and cleared his throat, "We should be get going, if you want to get home before nightfall"

Adriana listened to Duncan as he told her about Alec's wife. That was so tragic. She was sorry about his wife. "Oh, thats terrible, I am sorry he lost his wife like that." she replied softly. Her gaze shifted to Alec as he told the group they should go. She wanted to know about his daughter. Was his daughter alive? Sometimes the fates were cruel and took both the mother and child during childbirth.

Duncan nodded to Alec as he came forward then watched as he walked back turning once more to Adriana "He blames himself, and ever since he hasnt let too many get close" He shook his head. "He would have my head if I be telling you, but me thinks he died that day as well"

Alec was mounted on his horse and cleared his throat "MOUNT UP" He yelled. Then rode to Adriana "Are you wanting to ride with me or with Duncan here?"

((Hmmm havent decided should his daughter be alive, show the softer side of him (or not) or have the child dead too))

Adriana was saddened by this. It was a way of life, some women did not survive giving birth. But the fact that Alec blamed himself was the most tragic of all, for he could not have forseen what would have happened.

Her gaze shifted to Alec as he rode over to her and Duncan. He was giving her an option. That was nice of him. "I'll rode with you," she told him. She mostly did not want to ask Duncan questions. And she would ask questions, but she found gossip to be rude. She also wanted to give Alec some comfort, without him knowing.

( hmm Im not sure. I feel like a mother would rather her life be taken than both hers and the childs. It's however you want him to be.)

In one swoop Alec picked u[ Adriana and placed her on his horse. "Farethewell Duncan?" Duncan nodded "Fare thy well" Alec nodded and urged his horse into a troat/

"Soon we will be to my homeland, and you will see your friend, how long since you seen her?" He was attempting to make small talk, and damn if her hair wasnt drving him to distraction.

Duncan sighed as he rode behind his Laird he knew he shouldnt be saything anything but Alec needed to break free from the blameing himself game, maybe Adriana was just the woman.

Adriana shifted her body once he swooped her up and set her on his horse. She glanced to Duncan and gave him a smile before Alec trotted away. "I believe the last I saw of her was a year or two before she went off to be married." it had been a while. "but we wrote to each other often."

Duncan rubbed the back of his neck again watching Adriana and Alec on the horse. He really hoped thatAdriana would be the speical medicne that Alec needed. The only person that he wasnt surely with was his daughter, but he was almost too careful with the babe.

Alec nodded. "She will be happy to see you then" He cleared his throat. "You know how to write and read? When did you learn that?"

((Figured the daughter is alive, but something is different about her, not sure yet though...dont have a name yet either so will have to decide that lol))

Adriana frowned at him. Did he think her so low that she would not be able to read? The scoundrel. "I learned as a child," she stated in annoyance. Just because she was an Englishwoman, didn't mean she couldn't read. How rude.

Grinning slightly at the tone in her voice. "You misunderstand me Lady Adriana" He held her a little closer. "I am proud that you know how to read" He brought a finger to her chin and made her look at him.

"Not everything I saw is bad Mi Lady" He looked into her eyes and sighed inwardly. Now that she knew his story he wondered if she would treat him differently just like everyone else did.

Adriana's gaze shifted to his when he lifted her chin and forced her to look at him. Her cheeks flushed. "You are proud?" A smile played across her lips. "Why, m'lord, to know that you are proud of something I can do, pleases me greatly."

Still smiling Alec watched Adriana blush. He felt a stireing deep inside of the pit of his stomach, the same feeling he felt when he had met his wife. He looked down at her and with out thinking brushed her lips with his thumb.

"Now you might want to take in the view, I do think the highlands are beautiful and let me know if you get cold"

Adriana was a bit startled when she felt him brush his thumb on her lips. She smiled a bit, not entirely sure why he brushed her lips like that. Her gaze shifted to the scenery, and she relaxed as she took in the view. "Lovely, indeed."
