Our world was dying. Over population, poluted rivers, lakes, and oceans to the point all life was dying. For to long we had done what we wanted and we paid the price. We finally had to leave our world to seek out a new one. After years of travel in huge space arks we finally found a new home, or homes. A binary system that had several planets and moons that could sustain life and others that could be teraformed. It took years, in some cases a hundred years to make a moon or planet inhabitable.

Once a world divided by many governments we now were under a single one, the Alliance. But not all liked the idea, especially the outer worlds. The core worlds were rich and had the luxuary and riches that the outer worlds didn't. The outer worlds were not as civilized as those of the core worlds. The gun was the law at times and the Alliance didn't hold to much sway there, unless they wanted to or you tried to go against the Alliance. It had been tried and it had failed, but still the Alliance seemed to have no real intrest in the outer worlds, except for its minning operations, that kept the core worlds from having to ruin those worlds like our ancestors had our home world.

The outer planets were mainly left alone to live their lives as they wanted. Only here and there were Alliance bases, more of a deterent then anything else. It was like the old west back on the now dead home world, had been. One made a living the best that they could at what they could do. There were those that worked the land, or had businesses, the law abidinge ones. Then there were the pirates, smugglers, freighters and all sorts of unsavory types that made a living the dishonest way or some where in between.

The bridge of the Raven was in a shambles. Wires and conduent hung everywhere, consols were blackened where fires had flared. The smell of smoke filled the air even though the ventelation system had purged all the smoke some time ago. "Port Control, this is the Raven. Need emergency medical care. Coming in with minimum control, request emergency landing." Direct comm to the Space Port was not possible so he had to broadcast it over the specrum of frequencies so that it would get through. Every ship at the Star base would hear it.

Krell and his crew brought the ship down from space. One could see that it had been in one hell of a fight. Black scorch marks were everywhere from being hit by blaster fire and there werea couple of hull breaches as well. Over the coms came a mans voice, "Emergency Crews to Bay 9, emergency medical personel report to Bay 9 immediately." Krell and his pilot barely brought the ship in and landed it. Gangways were moved into place and hatches opened to allow the medical personnel in. Soon wounded crewmen were being taken off the ship.

The Raven was a well known freighter that made use of the Space Port and at times sold its cargo at. The Raven was a ship not like any other ship that was known. Indeed it was not. It had been a prototype. It was an armed freighter, but one that didn't show any sign of having weapons. It had been designed during the War of Independance by the rebels and had been built in secret but never used. The war had ended with the rebels losing. Krell had managed to get his hands on it before the Alliance found it.

When Krell had all his crew off, those wounded off to the medical facility, and the others off to various bars and establishments he left the ship. It was going to be a while before repairs that would make the Raven space worthy again, enough to get it back to the Haven. The Haven, Krells hideaway amongest an astoroid belt. After talking to the Base's repair crew and arranging to have the Raven repaired he headed to the closest bar.

Taigi looked to the ship and whistled “wow, this one’s a beaut, never thought I'd get to work on one like this” “Taigi, get to work girl!” “Oh give me a break, I’m getting there” she shouted back to her boss and began working quickly on some of the repair with a group of other mechanics. She had already done plenty of jobs but preferred to work with ships than people. She found it too much of a hassle and also ships didn’t talk back to you. She shouted down and the group of others that were there shrugged. She jumped down from what was suspending her and picked up something strange which was used to help scorch marks. Others worked on open parts of the ship and fixing up other things while Taigi worked on the marks. “Wonder what it’s like on board? Must travel well too and judging by its shape and engines I’d say it travels fast as well” she said talking to herself was something she did a lot so it never surprised people she had been working there for about 6 months now but was rarely seen since she always finished her work to perfection.

She finished working on the scorch marks for the day and smiled at her work sicne they were rather faded now and she crossed her arms pleased with herself. "Taigi get down here girl" shouted the boss "I'm almsot finished wait a bit" she shouted back down lifting her goggles up.

Later on she was told to find the captain. “Ok, I got it” she said after she had finishedfor the day they usually gave reports on how the work was going. She wondered around a bit looking for the captain and then remembered where a lady from the ship had gone and soon found her “Miss, are you from that ship over there, my boss said to report on the repairs to the captain” she said politely. It would take another day to repair but they always worked on the ships carefully and all had their equal share of work.

She had blue eyes and scruffy shoulder length brown hair and a rather pale complexion she was also rather energetic and knew her way around any ship easily. She wore a pair of trainers, brown combat trousers with a lot of pockets and a brown t-shirt with a white oil stained mechanics jacket tied around her waist as well as a belt with her tools on them and she also wore an old pilots hat and goggles.
On her shoulder was a small creature which looked like a very small dog with rabbit ears and had three eyes. It mewed slightly nodding it's head with it's black and white fur and nudged Taigi.

"You will find him over there" the woman said and pointed to Krell. "But be warned he is not in the best of moods. One of our crew didn't make it and the other may not. He is taking it pretty hard. If you like you can make the report to me. I'm his first officer." The woman was tall, nearly six feet tall, with shoulder length black hair and deep green eyes. She looked like an amazon. About her waist and slung low on her right hip was a holster that carred a sawed off rifle, stock and barrel.

Krell looked up as he noticed someone talking to Meg. The woman that was talking to her looked as if she was part of the repair crew. He got up and moved to the bar drink in hand. "Better put out the word that we will be needing a Merc and a Mechanic." he told Meg.

"Aye Captain." she replied to the captains order, "This is one of the workers repairing the ship with the report on how it is going."

Krell turned to Taigi and nodded, "Well lets have it."

She had to look up at Meg since she was a lot shorter which made it easier for her in some ways since in some ships the engines were in weird places and she would be able to get to them and fix them easily. She nodded at what she said "It's fine, I'm sure the other one will make it and thank you miss" she said and was about to go over before she noticed he was already there.

"Well the scorch marks are almost gone and it still needs a few rapairs to the sides of it since we don't usually get ships like yours here. We also found something was up with the engine of the ship as well, sort of like a blockage there, so it'll take a bit longer than we first thought but should be easy to sort out said it should be ready in... let's see a day or two. Anything you want me to pass on, sir?" she asked being polite. She was one of the few female mechanics there since here not mny woman were interested in such things anymore. She carried a few spare parts in her hands since she was told to pick them up as well.

" Also I'm sure that the other person in your crew will make it, just don't give up hope so quickly, their really good here when it comes to medical treatment and if your looking for Mercs and a Mechanics then you can put up a notice in the grand hall. It's not too far and quiet a few people go there looking for jobs on ships as well" she said smiling and then jumped hearing her name and turned "What is it?" "something happened to one of the ships, parts have gone missing again" "again?" "Yeah, did you pick up the spare parts, we need them for the ship" he shouted back. Taigi turned back waiting to see if either of them had any message for her to pass on to her boss.

Krell listened and nodded his head at the report. He knew the young woman was trying to give him encouragement. He needed new crewmen. Some one he could trust and wold not mind the occasional or more then occasional shady type job. He had lost two good men, but they had gotten the cargo off the severely damaged ship. All salvage and all now the property of the Raven. It would sell for a pretty penny, enough to pay for the repairs and pay his remaining crewmen a nice share of it.

He thanked the woman and finished his drink. "Think you had best take those parts back. " he told her with a half smile. "Then he turned to the bartender. "Another round." he ordered and looked at Meg, "Damned Raiders. Why did they have to show up when they did?" he grabbed his drink when it came and downed it. He looked again at Taigi "Know of any one that can keep a ship running?"

"There are a lot of people where I work that can easily keep a ship going, we were all trained from quiet young anyway" she said and hearing ehr name called "But, you might have a slight problem, not many of us want to leave since we like it here but once your ships fixed up you'll have no problems finding someone, your ships a beaut despite it being a bit damaged but it's a mechanics dream as well not many ships like that come here" she said "Isn't that right Mew?" she said asking the small pet on her shoulder who mewed happily and nodded. "But the medical treatment here is good so he'll make it don't worry" she said

"Taigi get over here, we have to work night shift again girl, no rest fo rthe wicked" shouted a man waving to her with a slight chuckle "Sorry sir, miss I have to go. I can ask my boss to give recomendations and you can pick it up tomorrow" she said smiling before she quickly ran out and looked to the man with a sheepish smile "We need to hurry and get those ships back working before morning nearly all of them are gettin' picked up tomorrow" he said and she nodded and they both ran off quickly.

For the mechanics it was a long night having to repair nearly all the ships again due to people vandilising them which left them with a lot of angry customers. "Mew, can you get my spanner, I left it outside" she said. she was near the engine of the ship adn it was in a bit of an awkward place so she was sent to go fix it. She tugged her goggles down adn grawled under the engine a bit after finding the blockage and mew handed her tools before she checked it over making sure no parts were missing.

By the morning they were all exhusted and Taigi emerged from her last job of the night she had spoken to the boss and sat down "Taigi get here now!" "I've been working nearly two days!" she said clearly not impressed and tired Mew slept around her neck and shoulders and she tapped his nose before taking ehr hat off and rustleing her hair with her goggles around her neck. She had oil stains on her hands and face but didn't really care and Mew was the same. She then stood up putting ehr hat back on and grabbed something to eat giving bits of it to Mew and ate the rest herself walking back to the ship "Ok, just the scorch marks and part of the engine to sort out and then it's done" she said pleased with herself

Krell watched her go and shook his head. "Now how could any one not want to get out of a hell hole like this." The Space Port on the small moon was one of the outer rim worlds that supported life afte it had been terraformed. Life out side of the space port was not the best. Life in the confines of the Space port were not much better. But he guessed it was better then nothing and a couple other places he had seen.

"She sounded very sincere about everyone liking it here." he told Meg

"Well this is the only life they have known. It is safe and the Alliance leaves them alone for the most part." she said and took a sip of her drink. "Doubt they have ever been off this piece of rock."

"True but you think they would be egar to go out and see other worlds, other opportunities." He shook his head and finished his drink and walked out of the bar. He knew the ship would be in good hands so he headed for one of the local hotels. It wasn't much but it was a place to sleep while they hammered, banged and did what ever to repair his ship. He slept for a few hours but woke up and felt as if he needed to take a walk. It took him back to his ship. The woman had called it a beauty. That he had to agree with. It was his pride and joy. His ship. It looked like the repairs were almost done. He reached a hand up and touched the hull of the ship. "Don't worry old girl, one day we'll make sure those bastards pay for hurting you."

Taigi was inside trying to fix the engine and Mew came outside searching for some tools and picked up a few and looked up tohim and mewed "Mew, hurry up" she said and walked out with oil on her. the others were working on some of the other ships ssince they were due earlier but couldn't really stop repairs on any ship for long. She sighed adn looked to Mew who mewed to her as he troted back and handed her the tools "excellent I wondered where this had got to" she said picking the tools up and Mew jumped on her shoulders again both were covered in oil stains. Mew went to sleep and Taigi streatched ehr arms before noticing Krell "hello sir, came to check on the ship?" she asked and Mew looked up for a momment but then just went back to sleep.

Some other mechanics had been wokring on the outside while she fixed the engine so shehad to check it over once before hand with some of the others but the engine had almost been fixed and was rather proud of herself as well. She usually was after she finished every job and Mew would usually just fall asleep but it was a lot more fun than what a lot of the other women where they were did.

Krell watched the little creature come sucrying out. He was an intelligent little thing, from one of the inner planets. Those were the ones that had been settled first and had various life forms on them. The little guy was one of the more intelligent of the creatures. They enjoyed being around humans and picked up on things quickly. But most animals had come with them, mostly in an embro state that was put in a sort of statis. "Well now I think you had best hurry. Sounds like someone needs those tool rather fast." he watched the creature scamper back into the ship and he chuckled.

As Taigi came out of the ship he gave her a half grin. "Yeah, that is one thing about having your own ship. You worry about her and have to know things are alright." he tucked his thumbs into his gun belts as he looked her over. "Looks as if she is almost done. What are you working on?" he asked her.

She pulled her goggles down resting around her neck"I guess, my mother had a ship and she always kept an eye on it, It was a great ship rather old but was still nice to be on." she said and Mew jumped off her shoulders and scampered inside quickly picking up the odd tools "I'm just finishing on your ship for tonight but I was working on the engine mostly and making sure they didn't steal any parts, the scorch marks are easier to work on during the day also the blackage is almost out and with a good check over, bit of a clean and replacing a few old parts it should be running as good as new by the end of tomorrow hopefully" she said and picked up Mew running back out and she slipped tools back into her belt.

"Also the boss sorted out some recomendations out of the mechanics here so you can pick it up tomorrow if you like. Mercs are usually around in the hall and are easy to come by here anyway, quiet a few people want to be one" she laughed lightly.
"also there hav ebeen quiet a few robbers around here especailly with engine parts and other things too, so the work has slowed down since we're working most of the night so I doubt you'll really get to meet any of the others soon" she said "Any questions while your here?" she asked

He couldn't think of any questions so he shook his head. "I'll be going aboard to check on a few things. Got to make sure the personal belongings of the two are put together and sent off. " he told her, but in reality he wanted to make sure the security codes and locks were in place on the ships hidden weapon systems. It had been designed to be a blockade runner during the war and had two forward and two aft laser cannons. Quite illegal for cargo ship.

Since the Raiders showed up, cargo ships had to rely on their speed and pilots to get them out of trouble. The Raiders were small armed ships usually stolen from the Alliance military by either desertions or right out of the military installations on a planet. They were giving the Alliance lots of trouble in the trade routes of the Inner Planets. Now and then they hit targets in the outer planets, depending on what the cargos were.

As he began to go up the ramp, he turned. "Is your name on that list of recomendations?" he asked her.

"If your checking all the locks and codes their still in place and in one peice also the belonging of those two are also still there and I heard that the other one is in a stable condition at the momment from one of the doctors" she said "It was desgined as a blckade runner in the war I think. Like I said we don't get many ships like yours here" she said
"and I don't know if my name's on the list that's the boss's buissness not mine" she said and Mew growled hearing the boss's name "Mew, no growling ok? come on we have to grab something to eat and break before the next shift" she said and tapped the creatures nose and he grabbed her finger with his paws. "But if it is you won't have any problem knowing it's me, I'm the only female mechanic here who isn't on leave due to illness or injury or that was fired" she said

One the list he had put a small group of the best mechnics that had worked on the ship since he thought it would be a better idea. Her name was on the list but at the very bottom since he was probably the only one in the yard that didn't think she was helpful. Taigi was quiet skilled for a mechnic and having a small pet to help her speed her work up also she had a close bond with itso it rarely disobeyed her and enjoyed the treats she gave it.

Mew jumped off her shoulder and ran to the lounge and picked up some food running back on his hind legs and handing her apple she kneeled down and took it off Mew and smiled "thanks boy" she said "Well, see ya then, it's time for my break" she said and waved back handing a bit of apple to Mew who nibbled on it happily as she walked to the lounge and sat herself down exhusted.

Krell walked up into his ship raising the hatch up and securing the ship. He made his own inspection of the repairs and the hidden weapons. Everything was secured and locked down as it should be. He gathered Frank's and William's personal things and boxed them up and took them down to the hatch to take with him when he left.

Going to his own quarters he poured himself a drink and then headed to the bridge. The smell of fresh paint could smelled. He had a few hours sleep and that would do him for now, so he started checking the star bases data base for any jobs that were available. He found one that looked promising, but he didn't quite like the location. It was to damn close to Reaver Space but in his business, you took what you could. The job was taking a bunch of scientists out to the planet. Didn't say what they were going there for but that was none of Krell's business anyways. He just hoped they understood the danger of the Reavers.

The rest of the night he just relaxed as he waited for his first officer and his piloted to come back to the ship. Once they had come aboard he went to find the one in charge of repairs. He was not hard to find. He got the list and he smiled as he saw the last name on the list. "This the girl that has been working on my ship?"

"Yeah. Don't know why I put her on there. She's lazy." the man said. Krell chuckled.

"I find that those listed at the bottom of a list for something is usually the ones that work the hardest. Those at the top take the credit all the time." Plus that also usually meant that the boss didn't want to lose them. So Krell went looking for her. "Well now Taigi, it is Taigi right?" he asked her. "How would you like the job of Ship's Mechanic aboard the Raven?"

"Bet the boss said I was lazy again, huh?" she said"and yeah, that'smy name what is it?" she asked rather tired still but was just about to get back to work and Mew was jumping around hyper prancing around her feet like a maniac. She stoped suprised at what he asked her "So that's the ships name, The Rven very suiting" she said and ruffled her hair "and I would love to but. I'll have to ask my mother, She worries too much though" she said laughing. She had turned 19 this year despite her childish like personailty.
"and like I said the ship will be ready tonight hopefully or earlier in the morning before dawn since the parts came in earlier than expected and the engine is really all that needs to be sorted now too" she said and Mew looked to her and nudged her "can Mew come, his like my asistant I wouldn't be able to finish half my work without him" she said and he nodded proudly as he rested on her shoulders and mewed giving Krell puppy eyes to make sure he let him come with his master. "Also you'll have to tell the boss as well, sorry I'm up to my head in work" she said sheepishly giving a slightly smile as she said it rubbing her neck.

"That is what you should expect from one that wants to keep you around." he grinned." Had to ask her mother, now that one didn't see much of anymore. If you were out earning a living, you were on your own. "Well you go check it out and if you decide to take the position, you and Mew report to Meg on board the Raven. She will assign you quarters. Then you can let her know to inform your boss, and get yourself some sleep."

He then went off to check about a Merc. Was always nice to have another gun around, especially planet side. You never knew what trouble might come your way. It didn't take him long to find the one he was looking for. He wasn't the biggest of the lot, but what impressed him was that he took down the biggest and meanest looking one there. That was what he wanted. He took Stan back to the Raven with him and showed him his quarters. He had been gone for more then an hour and wondered if Taigi had decided yet.

She nodded after he spoke.
Taigi had asked Mew to find Meg while she asked her mother and he nodded happily and quickly scampered off looking around the ship looking around it curiously before finding Meg and jumped on her shoulders and mewed happily trying to introduce himself an tell her why he was here but not doing to well and just settled on Meg's shoulders waiting for Taigi to come back rather happily.
She had taken a shortcut since she had to pick up a late part anyway and soon got home "Mum" she shouted and looked around and her mother walked in giving her a fright "what is it, did you get a job offer" Taigi just smiled and her mother hugged her "Oh, dear how wonderful. now be careful adn where's Mew.." "I asked him to find someone for me who I have to speak to before hand" she said.
Mew still tried to introduce himself and Taigi got back after about half an hour with the missing part handing it to another Mechanic who thanked her and then Mew jumped down and found her leading her to Meg easily. "Hello Miss" She said looking up to Meg and Mew just nudged her and frowned. " I'm Taigi and this is Mew" she said politely wondering if she knew why she was here but waited to see first. Mew smiled and lay around Taigi's shoulders again quiet happily snuggling up slightly before going to sleep.

When Mew came running up into the bridge and jumped up on to Meg, she gave out a squeal of surprise which made Stan chuckle and made Meg look down at him with a stare that would curdle blood. "Say one anything about this to anyone and you will find yourself floating in space with out a space suit. Stan held up his hands still snickering, merriment in his eyes.

As Mew continued to try and introduce himself, Megs lips twisted up into a smile. "Well I have seen you around here with some one yesterday. You were with one of those fixing the ship weren't you? Now if you are here......." she picked up a piece of apple she had cut up and had been eating and handed it to Mew. "Then that must mean the captain has found us a new ship mechanic." She let Mew continue to sit on her shoulder as she went over the ship's logs.

When Taigi came in Meg raised a brow. The young woman looked awful young to be a good mechanic. But she knew Krell knew what he was doing. "Mew eh." she looked at the little creature. "I am Meg and that smiling thing over there is Stan, the ships pilot. You must be our new mechanic. Come with me and I will show you where you can stow your gear. She walked down the ramp from the bridge and through the ship to where the quarters were. "This one will be yours. I expect you already know where the common area is. The galley and stores are there. We are informal around here when it comes to eating. You want something just cook it up. No one is really a cook around here either." She looked at Taigi closely. "Get some sleep as well, you look like hell girl." she gave her a gentle push into the room that was to be her quarters then turned back to the bridge.

Mew ate the apple happily before he went onto Taigi's shoulders "well, you would too, I'v ebeen working nearly two days straight" she muttered and Mew nipped her. She got a bit tempermental when she was tired so Mew always warned her. She listen to what Meg had to say after following her to her quaters. "Nice to meet you Meg adn thank you" she said and Settled down a bit rustleing ehr hair as she put her hat on a small table in her room and Mew sat down there as well. "seems you;vehad your fill of apples" she said and put her tool belt beside her hat and googles and looked around in her pockets for her note book. She had brung herself a few belongings and clothes but generally just kept them in her bag so she knew where they were. She flicked through the notebook and checked on what she had left to do before she had a quick nap and then went back to fixing the engine Mew scampered behind her and she found the engine room rather quickly and walked inside and searched her tool belt for the spare part she needed... "Mew can you go up to my room and get that part I need. It should be on the table got it?"
Mew noded and ran to her room quickly and looked around quickly picking up the peice and scampering back holding it in his mouth to move quickly passing nearly everyone who just looked to the creature wondering what it was doing on the ship besides the fact the part he was holding was bigger than his head. He handed her it and she was there for a while until night fell "Yes!" she shouted smiling "all up and running again,one check over and that's us done boy" she said Mew and Taigi had a few oil stains on them but the engine was fixed adn as good as new now and working perfectly. SHe checked it over qith Mew checking the spots she couldn't get to.
She walked out and Mew slept on her shoulders and she grabbed herself something to eat sharing it with Mew after she had wiped the pil off her hands and face as well as him since he look more black if anything, She also grabbed an apple and gave some of it to Mew who ate it very happily as she finshed her meal.

The three scientists that he had agreed to take out to one of the furthest planets began arriving. They saw Taigi and Mew and raised brows. Krell had come down from the bridge after getting a report from Meg. He knew Taigi was aboard with her pet and already working. When he came down to greet the scientists he saw her and Mew wiping of the grease and oil. He nodded his head. She would work out.

"Ok, this way gentelman to your rooms." He moved past them to show them to three small rooms that they would be staying in on the trip to the planet. "I hope you gentlemen know the risks you are incuring by being that close to Reaver Space?"

"Oh yes we know Captain, but that is why we are going there. We will be studying them. Long range of course. We have been able to send in a probe that has a sensor aray and telescope that can give us all sorts of data." The man sounded excited. All Krell could do was shake his head.

"We ready for departure?" he asked Taigi as he passed her.

Taigi and Mew could here the sciencetists talking listening breifly just before Taigi finished eating "Yep, good as new and should be working perfectly by now, right Mew?" she said looking to Mew chewing on his apple and he mewed nodding before he finished and jumped on her shoulders as she picked up her plates and put them in the sink and Mew chucked his rubbish away and then began scampering around to explore.
Taig just walked back to her room to get back to sleep for a bit and sort some things out as well and watched Mew as he scampered off past the sceintists and everyone just wanting to know where everything was.
Tiaig got back to her room and sorted through her stuff to find her old music box and just listenedto it. it was falling apart but it was always nice to listen to. She placed her hat,belt and goggles on the side and just lay in bed fora bit slowly drifting off before Mew gave her a fright suddenly appearing out of nowhere.

Krell nodded to Taigi and after telling the scientists that food packs were in the comman area's galley and to help themselves, he hurried back to the bridge. "Button it all up people. It is time to get off this rock and back out there where we belong." he took his seat to the left of Stan, as Meg took an empty one behind them at another station. "Star Base Control this is the Raven, request permission to take off."

"Rodger Raven, you are clear. " came back a woman's voice.

He nodded to Stan who eased back on some slide controls and the engines came to life and the ship shook a little, as it began to rise up from the space port. Frank the new Merc came up and sat himself in the fourth seat on the bridge. Once clear of the port Stan eased the Raven's nose up and and slid the throtal back to full power. The Raven leaped forward and soon was breaking through the atmosphere into space. "Engines running smooth Captain." Stan said with a smile. They were on their way to Nexus, the planet the scientists wanted to go to.

It had been raided by Reavers so much that it had basicly been abandoned except for a few mining camps.

Taigi walked to the bridge after a bit with Mew on her shoulders and Mew jumped down and walked around a bit listening to the sound of the engines making sure they kept working smoothly and found one of the sceintists making him jump out of his skin when he jumped on their shoulders in greeting. Luckily Taigi had got Mew to tell the boss before they left what was going on and he didn't seem to pleased in the slightest. Mew did awfully good imprestions of people when he wanted too and never ceased to amuse others with it either.
She found a screen with the engines on it and watched carefully making sure they kept stable. Sometime's newly fixed engines took a while to get working completely properly but usually they were fine. "seem to be working ok then?" she muttered softly and looked outside quiet amazed.

Krell checked their navigation coordinates and then the sensors to make sure there was nothing in the way. Going out that far he doubted there would be any Raiders, but Reavers, now that would be another story. "Ok Frank this is where you begin earning your pay. He took him to the forward gun turret. Unlocking a section of panneling in a corridor it revelaled a ladder. "Up there is a twin gun turret, one of two. The other is at the rear of the ship. Once you are in the seat, the domed turret will emerge from the ship and give you a 360 view."

Frank looked a bit surprised, and Krell grinned. "This information does not leave the ship nor are those scientists to know about it. Understand." He shook his head and climbed up into the turret. When he returned to the bridge, "If we run into trouble I will need you in the engine room giving me every ounce of power you can." he told Taigi. "You to Mew." he told the little creature.

"yes sir" she said as Mew ran to pick up her goggles from ehr room as she headed there and put them on with Mew scampering in the engine room. she quickly found herself a seat and Mew looked over her shoulder before she put him on the desk with a screen telling him to moniter it and tell her if she got any messages while she found out where the power metre was and how to work it getting used to the ships engine quickly again and waited for orders and checked on the recently fixe parts to make sure they held as well as the rest of the engine hecking how much power it could hold by it's overall condition of the oldest parts and what they were.
"wow, this really is a good engine, Mew anything yet?" she asked looking up and Mew shook his head mewing at her softly but still over the sound of the engine since it was so high pitched.
Taigi and Mew waited patentily and silently listening to the engine sound just enjoying it in the engine room unlike a lot of mechanics.

Krell was a bit nervous as they got closer and closer to Reaver Space. Those wackos could be anywhere and they didn't care how dangerous things were, they would come after you. It was a damn good thing that most of the ships that the Reavers had were old cargo, transports or passenger type ships. None had any real weapons. Some smaller ships had been retrofitted with makeshift type things for planetary use, but nothing for space. But that didn't mean much to them. They would ram your ship and cut their way in just to get to you.

Stan turned around and looked at Krell, "Just picked up two boggies heading our way." he had a worried look on his face.

"Frank!" Krell kept himself from yelling, "Two boggies coming in at......." he looked at the computer screen, "30 degrees starboard. Get ready to give them a warm welcome if they are Reavers or Raiders." Then to Taigi, "Get ready girl and hang on, things could get a bit bumpy."
