maybe the princess/servant thing.. be prepared for a pretty tomboyish princess lol.. let's make this epic and think of loads of obstacles and challenges and adventures.

Hmmm sounds good...theif could work...she chould save him from getting his hand chopped off...depending on the time frame it would be the punishment...or he is in a cell and she sneaks in and gives him food...or cares for him after a lashing...totally up to you!
