Alec was having a nightmare, which was quite common for him, because Shadowhunters saw many dangerous and or ugly things in their life. Alec's nightmare, however, centered around Magnus. Magnus was held captive by Sebastian, much like Alec had been a while ago. Alec couldn't save him, he had a child to protect. Sebastian threatened his lover and his child. How could he choose so lightly? Magnus would want him to choose the child, but Alec couldn't live without his lover either. A sword tip was pressed to Magnus' neck. Alec jumped up with a start, eyes wide as he regulated his breathing. He was surprised to find tears leaking slowly from his eyes. He looked around for Magnus to make sure he wasn't being held captive by Sebastian.

Magnus was comfortable watching his show, gaze flicking to Alec every once and a while, until he noticed something was wrong. The man in his arms was tense, and his expression was unsettled, eyelids flickering uneasily. He pushed the hair back from Alec's face and frowned, wondering what his nightmare was about. "Alec? Shh it's okay" he whispered near his ear, to either wake him or comfort him. When he felt Alec jump and saw the eyes fly open he stroked his hair again, one arm around his waist and giving a reassuring squeeze. "Hey, are you okay?" he asked in concern, pressing a kiss to the damp forehead. It was the tears that alarmed him. "It's okay, I'm here" he murmured, hoping to comfort him. He figured the nightmare had something to do with his recent traumatic experiance, but he had no idea what about that would make him cry.

He swallowed hard, realizing Magnus was still with him, he was in his arms, not held at sword point by Sebastian or Valentine. He wasn't in the middle of deciding who was more important. "Magnus," he choked out, losing in his battle to stop the tear flow. "You're here," he repeated Magnus' message. "You're here, and I'm with you." Alec never wanted to go through that decision. He didn't want to have to choose between anything that he loved. He buried his face to the crook of Magnus' collarbone and chest. He could feel his tears wetting the warlock's skin.

Magnus wasn't very good at soothing crying people, since the only time people he knew cried he passed it off with sarcasm. He had never seen Alec cry, but he rubbed his back slowly, putting one hand on the back of his head, that was currently buried against his skin. "Yes, you're with me. We're here, together. It's okay, don't cry Sweetheart" he murmured in Alec's ear, gathering that his dream had something to do with the two of them, and not being together, but that was as far as his knowledge went. He would ask, once Alec calmed down. He continued to whisper reassuring words to the Shadowhunter. He didn't even know Alec knew how to cry. The only times he had seen him upset he just got a pained look in his eyes and closed in on himself.

Taking deep breaths to calm down, Alec let the reassuring touches from his lover tell him what was true, what was happening now and what wasn't. He didn't want to go back to sleep, even if he was tired still. He didn't want to see Magnus near death, not even in a dream. "Magnus," he murmured, his voice hitching as he felt his resolve of calming down wavering. The warm touch of Magnus was supposed to make everything better. It helped, but his dream kept flashing back on him. With Sebastian and Valentine alive, and their intentions clear enough, Alec had to live in the shadow of fear.

Magnus nuzzled into the top of Alec's head lightly, still whispering to him. At the sound of his name he closed his eyes, wishing he had a spell that could just make his sadness go away. As adorable and vulnerable Alec looked when he was crying, it pained him to know how much he was upset if he was crying. But it could also be the pregnancy overplaying his emotions. He paused for a moment before speaking again. ". . . Do you want me to distract you?" he asked, sure that if Alec agreed, it would work. He was rather good at distracting people. Especially Alec. It wouldn't take too much.

"Distract me?" Alec asked, looking up from where he had his face pressed. Tears streaked down his face, some of them drying, few leaked from his eyes still. "How would you distract me?" He looked at Magnus, trying to deduct the ways Magnus could distract him. A couple things came to mind right away, but he wanted to see what Magnus would say first. Alec wiped his face with his arm, relaxing into Magnus. Just by talking to him with promises of making him forget helped to distract Alec. Just Magnus talking to him and holding him made him feel better.

Magnus laughed slightly at how uncorrupted he could seem sometimes. For a pregnant man, he could be incredibly innocent. "Hmm, like this" he replied, capturing Alec's lips with his own, sure that this would draw his mind away from the dream he had had. He was confident in his talent enough to not doubt this. He would do anything to comfort Alec though. Anything to keep him from crying like that. As horrible as it may have seemed, it gave him some satisfaction to know that it had been something happening with himself that made Alec cry. Not a memory of Jace's death or something. He had claimed Alec's heart completely now.

Alec had begun to ask how when his voice was halted by a kiss from his boyfriend. Magnus had successfully captured his undivided attention with just a single kiss. He returned the kiss first gently, then put more pressure on it, intent on crushing the dream he'd had. Magnus could take all of his problems away with anything he wanted. It was like Magnus had him on a leash, and if Alec strayed off or got lost Magnus just had to tug and lead him back in the right direction, and Magnus would be all Alec saw on his way back. When he broke away for air, Alec whispered to him, "I love you, Magnus. Don't ever leave me." Although Alec, as a Shadowhunter, was technically more prone to leaving Magnus sooner. Magnus was immortal. And even if Alec survived his job, he'd age over time, and he'd die in time.

Magnus responded to the pressure in the kiss, matching his force easily. He knew he had caught Alec's attention. It was times like this he loved, the feeling of complete control, and the way Alec melted into his kisses so easily. "I love you too. As long as you don't leave me, I'll be here" he responded, knowing if either of them was going to be gone, it would be Alec. He would be crushed when that time came. He was going to have to do something about that. Alec was going to get old on him as well. He was stuck in his 19 year old appearance forever, but one day Alec would be 80, and look it. If he survived his Shadowhunting. "Better?" he asked after a moment, slightly hesitantly. "Do you want to talk about it?".

Sighing, Alec did feel better. Magnus was good at what he did, and they both knew it. He sighed again. He didn't want to talk about it, but maybe he'd feel better if he did. He used to tough it out when something bothered him, or maybe talk to Izzy, but if he spoke to Magnus about it, who had been part of the dream, he might feel better? Magnus would keep him from keeping worse anyway. "I suppose it's the known fear of Sebastian still running loose, but my dream consisted of him threatening your life and our kid's life. I had to choose between who to save." He swallowed hard. "I don't want to choose between things I love. I couldn't choose who to save, and that alone would have cost you your life in the dream."

Magnus waited for Alec to either deny it or start explaining. He was silent when his boyfriend started speaking, furrowing his eyebrows. "Don't worry about me. I've got all kinda of tricks up my sleeves if he tries to kill me" he winked, then became a bit more serious. "If he ever comes near you again, he's not going to be getting out alive. High Warlocks are extremely protective of their property. And you're mine. And so is our child" he ran a hand over Alec's hip, which was as close to his stomach as he could get, since they were pressed together. "If I have any say in it, you'll never have to make that decision".

Alec had to believe Magnus had all kinds of spells that even Alec didn't know about. He had to trust him that he could get himself out of situations too. Even if Magnus didn't do combat with weapons, he could fight back just as fairly as a Niphilim with a sword or bow. "Yeah, okay," he agreed, "just don't lose control if he comes near us again." He didn't know what would happen to Magnus if he lost control. It obviously couldn't be good. Being called Magnus' property was thrilling. His first and only boyfriend had become his first and only love, and he felt that he'd always be with him. He was his property and Magnus was his. "I love you," he repeated, meaning it every time he said it.

Magnus smiled slightly, shaking his head. "I can't promise I won't, but I'll try. Who knows, maybe just the sight of him will drive me insane, and I'll spontaniously combust. With warlocks, who knows?" he teased lightly, trying not to go too far with that, in case it upset Alec again. "I love you too" he replied, kissing him again. He could recall times in the past when he had said that to Alec, who would look away, blushing, and tell him not to say things like that. He liked this newfound confidence. He looked down at Alec, thinking for a minute. "You know, people say that pregnant women glow. What about pregnant men? If you start glowing, I might be a bit worried" he grinned.

"Glowing? People can glow?" His mother didn't glow when he had been pregnant with Izzy or Max. He'd at least remember if she'd glowed when she was going to have Max. He'd been old enough to understand more than with Isabelle. "Like, how do they glow? Light bulb glow, do you mean?" Was Magnus being silly again and making words up? Alec definitely couldn't figure this one out. He understood that things like 'blip' had been a made up word, just like 'canoodle,' probably. But he'd never heard Magnus say people glowed. If they did, what if he glowed? That would be odd, wouldn't it? Anyone lighting up like a Christmas tree would be odd.

Magnus laughed at Alec's confusion, shaking his head. "It's just an expression. Glow as in, glow with happiness. Pregnant women are normally just ecstatic that they're going to create new life, and they get healthy colour in their cheeks and things like that" he explained, laughing a bit more. "Gawd you're adorable" he added, kissing Alec on the cheek lightly, grinning at him. He had been kidding at the part he'd said about being worried, just to use the play on words, but he wasn't surprised that Alec didn't get it, no matter how common the statement was. He was sure that seven year old mundies knew about that.

"Oh." He should have known. Magnus would know all of these expressions, mundane as they may be. "Um, should I be glowing?" he asked then, since the word 'normally' had been in that sentence. He was interested in the fact that he and Magnus had made another life together, but it wasn't like 'oh my juicebox, let's do it again when we can' excited. "Do the fathers glow too?" Magnus seemed to be pretty happy about this. Besides the yelling that had been preformed in the beginning, the over-protectiveness while he was in this state had been enough evidence to say Magnus wanted this too.
