Magnus nodded, still snickering slightly, but less frequently. He wasn't even sure why he had laughed so hard at that. It was funny, he had to admit, but maybe not as funny as he made it seem. It was probably the fact that it was so un-Alec-like. Alec was more. . . plain, than that. With everything. "Mm'kay. I wouldn't really concider that 'the good stuff', but still. I'll get it" he opened Alec's bedroom door and stepped outside, hesitating for a second before deciding which way the kitchen was. "Coming?" he asked, motioning down the hall with a jerk of his head, his carefully styled hair barely moving with the motion.

"Maybe it's not 'good stuff' in any other time. But right now it seems like it'd be really good to eat." Alec got up and followed Magnus, pointing him a few different hallways so they could make it to the kitchen and not another hallway of the massive Institute. When they made it to the kitchen, it was empty. Isabelle must be in her room, he decided. He could cook, but he wasn't very good at large meals, or anything that looked fancy. Plain, generic whatever usually came out well four in five times. Sometimes he could even mess that up, but on the bright side, people preferred his cooking to Izzy's half the time.

Magnus grinned slightly, a bit amused. "Alright. You have fun choking that down. Don't worry, I have poison control on speed dial" he teased, taking instruction from Alec when it was needed, guiding them to the kitchen. It was empty, and he went to the fridge immediately. "What was it you wanted? Ice cream, rhubarb. . . ketchup. . . and what?" he asked, not able to recall most of the long list for obvious reasons. He had no idea how people were able to choke this kind of thing down. He had a strong stomach, having seen more than his share of nausiating things. But he was sure he wouldn't be able to watch Alec eat that.

"Pickle juice," Alec told him, "and almonds. We need almonds." He didn't even like almonds, he remembered. He wasn't much for nut products, and sometimes chocolate he wasn't much for. Chocolate with almonds was always a definite no. And what did he want with ketchup? Something....green. Broccoli, for sure. Maybe he wanted some meat with that too? Steak? Pork? Lamb? He couldn't remember what lamb tasted like (i ^i) but he thought it sounded good with some ketchup right about now. "Lamb and broccoli, that should be fine. Ice cream can be dessert and stuff."

Magnus nodded as Alec started listing things off, either grabbing them from the fridge or conjuring them up. "Okay. . . lamb chops" he motioned to a package he had just taken from the store. "Broccoli, ketchup. And I'm assuming you want them cooked?" he teased, opening the package and rummaging around in a few cupboards, pulling out a frying pan and a pot. He could cook quite well, having plenty of time to have practiced. He filled the pot with water and started poking around for a strainer, sticking it in the pot once he found it. He had knives already chopping up the broccoli, and he turned to Alec. "Anything else? A beverage pour tu, monsieur?" he asked, raising an eyebrow and grinning. He was sure Alec would understand his french enough to get what he was asking, especially since the first bit was in english.

Blinking, Alec had to take a guess at whatever Magnus had just told him in French. "Um....yes...." he said with a slight questioning tone in the end. He wasn't sure what Magnus was saying, but he guessed enough from the word beverage he was asking him either what he wanted or if he wanted something. He didn't care what he drank, whatever Magnus found. His family was limiting him on the coffee for some reason too. He didn't think caffeine did anything while he was pregnant, but he just listened to whatever they said. They couldn't be fought.

Magnus laughed slightly before opening the fridge again. What was good for pregnant people? Vitamins, he knew that much. He found a jug of orange juice at the back of the fridge and extracted it, opening the top and sniffing it. It smelled like it was still good. "Do you like OJ?" he asked, holding the container up and quirking an eyebrow. He was sure that the Shadowhunter didn't get enough vitamins, or a very balanced diet, so this meal would hopefully do him some good. It was the least he could do at this point. He knew Alec wasn't training, wasn't doing his Shadowhunting activities, and he was getting enough rest, so that was good at least.

"Yeah, that's fine," Alec said, then thought about it. "Put some salt in it, though? I think it might taste interesting." Salt in orange juice, pickle juice and almonds and rhubarbs on ice cream, and ketchup on broccoli and lamb. Perfect. Well, he thought it might taste good. Maybe an ordinary person like Izzy would cringe at the thought of this assortment of food. Maybe Alec would gag thinking about how this tasted after birth. He doubted he'd ever eat any of this kind of stuff again. Especially the things he didn't like in the first place.

Magnus made a face at the request but shrugged. "Alright then. It's your funeral" he replied, searching the cupboards until he found glasses, pulling one out and pouring the juice in it, then grabbing a salt shaker and adding some to the glass. He set it down on the counter and grabbed some cooking oil, putting it in the pan and allowing it to spread before putting the lamb on. He searched around a bit more, looking for spices or seasonings or something to put on the meat. Finding nothing he sighed and conjured some up, shaking the right amount over the cooking meat. "I should be a chef" he decided, crossing his arms and sitting back, waiting for it to start cooking. "Think anyone would hire me?" he asked, looking down at his flamboyant attire. He was sure that if he applied for any Mundane jobs they wouldn't even bother interviewing him.

"I'm not sure," Alec admitted, "everything you do is a little health-hazardous." He indicated to what he wore. "Glitter, for one, the fact that you wear it about every day and enough to blind a werewolf, it might get in the food. You'd have to stop wearing it. And they'd make you wear a hair net, it'd mess up your hair, which you style almost every day too." Magnus probably couldn't dress as fancy as he liked, too. They'd probably prefer him to wear something simple, not all sparkly and expensive. "Maybe a Downworlder cafe, but you'd still need to get the safety issues down."

Magnus's hand went to his hair, thinking about it. "Ugh. You're right. The inventor of hair nets deserves to be shot. As for the glitter, It can't be too bad for someone. I'm sure you've swallowed your fair share of it" he grinned, recalling times when that was definitely true. "It'll add flavor to the food. Its like Jus du Magnus. Plus, I'm sure I'd get a 10 for presentation. I don't know many foods that glitter" he laughed, wondering how much trouble he'd get in if he actually did work as a chef, and the food had random bits of glitter in it. Surely nobody would notice unless there was a crazy amount of it though.

Alec had no idea what Jus du Magnus was, but he nodded anyway, for the sake of keeping the conversation off the explaining side. "Glitter probably isn't that great for the system. Probably clogs it up if you ate enough of it." Just like the way glitter clumped up with enough water. Or glue. Maybe it was glue. Alec couldn't remember what liquid Isabelle had used last with glitter. "I think the health inspector would ban you from working anywhere unless you never wore glitter while cooking and serving." Magnus would have a new stalker making sure he wasn't wearing glitter, and that stalker's name would be The Health Inspector.

"Mm, probably. They should make all-natural glitter" Magnus flipped the meat and turned the stove element on that was under the pot with the broccoli. Vegetables didn't take very long to steam. He wrinkled his nose at the Health Inspector comment. "Yeah, well, the Health Inspector can suck it. Nobody stops the High Warlock of Brooklyn from doing what he wants. Except maybe you. But that's a different case completely" he started getting plates and cutlery out, to be ready for when the food was done. He would be eating the same as Alec, minus the strange additives.

"He can't suck it if it was made by you. He'd choke on the glitter," Alec commented. Magnus saying only Alec could stop him from doing whatever he wanted, Alec cocked his head to the side. He had never really used his so-called power of Magnus, he never really had to and he never needed to. He didn't want to feel like he could command Magnus like an animal to do tricks. Magnus had his own mind and drive, Alec wanted him to use it to do as he liked. The food smelled good, Alec heard his stomach grumble again.

"Hmm, this is true. It would be amusing to watch though" Magnus mused, smiling slightly. He saw the way Alec cocked his head to the side like that. "You're the only one I would stop doing something I wanted to for, if it affected you negatively, or you didn't like it" he shrugged, poking at the food a bit more, making sure it wouldn't burn or something. He knew Alec wouldn't want to keep him from doing something for his sake. He could be too generous sometimes. Magnus sometimes wished Alec would stop trying to make his first priority other people, and concentrate on himself sometimes. As sweet as it was, the amount his lover cared.

"If you say so." Alec pursed his lips. Magnus was so devoted and loyal. It was cute, but it could prove to be a weakness. He didn't want Magnus to get hurt because of it. Sacrifices had to be made sometimes, and Alec had a feeling that if the choice of Alec living or dying tied in with if the world survived or not, he was afraid Magnus might choose Alec living over the fate of the world. Even if Alec told him to save the world at the cost of his life, he wasn't sure Magnus would actually do that. Of course Alec was very flattered with the undying love, and he felt the exact same way about Magnus, but life didn't come without sacrifices, and he wondered if Magnus knew that.

Magnus grinned slightly at Alec's only response to that. He didn't look too thrilled with the idea. He knew that there were many people who would love to have that over him. But they weren't as lucky as Alec was. And Alec wouldn't hold it over him, and use it to his advantage, so it seemed as if he had picked the right person. He flipped the lamb over and took the lid off of the pot with the broccoli, turning that section of the stove off. He dished the vegetables out onto the two plates before turning his attention back to the lamb, turning the rest of the stove off and putting some of the meat on each plate. "Bon appatite" he said, motioning to the plate, and then to the ketchup. "Go crazy" he said, setting the plates down on the table, sitting down in one of the old chairs and pouring some orange juice for himself. The dishes were already washing themselves in the sink.

"Oh, I will," Alec agreed, taking the ketchup bottle and smothering his food in it. He wondered what the ratio of food to ketchup would be now. It seemed like a waste of ketchup because it might as well now be spaghetti without the noodles. After he took a bite of the broccoli and lamb, he licked his lips and sipped the orange juice with salt in it. As he expected it gave off a bitter sweet taste that had the barest of hints of a salt flavor. The citrus of the orange killed a lot of the original flavor of salt and turned bitter. Magnus wasn't eating anything nearly as crazy as he was. Alec ate at a moderate pace, ((Zomj, poor sheep i ^i)) finishing by downing the last gulp of his orange juice. Salt sat at the bottom of the glass when he was done. The plate had globs of ketchup left, which he didn't bother eating. He wondered what Izzy would say if she heard what he had just eaten.

Magnus tried not to look at what Alec was eating, not sure if he would be able to handle it. He had no idea how the Shadowhunter could down that. Sure, all Shadowhunters may be beast- except for Clary- but that was just repulsive. That much ketchup should be illiegal. He finished eated a few bites after Alec did, sihging contentedly. "Damn I'm good" he complimented himself, looking to where he had cooked the meal. The dishes were already clean, dry, and put away. "Do you want dessert now or do you want to wait a bit?" he asked, mentally recalling what Alec had wanted on his ice cream. At least it wasn't more ketchup.

"I don't mind waiting a bit," Alec snorted at Magnus complimenting himself, proving further that he was quite full of himself. He had eaten enough to stop the grumbling in his stomach, he wanted to wait a minute or so to let the food have a chance to digest before eating more. "I can wait a bit, if you can," he told him, settling as comfortably as he could in the hard chair. Even if he wasn't pregnant, this thing was still always uncomfortable. "That felt a lot like breakfast because I didn't really eat one, but at the same time it kinda felt like lunch because I don't think anyone would eat that for breakfast." Well, he ate whenever he wanted anyway. It didn't really matter what he was eating. He'd have to get back on a schedule of some sort after this.

"I can wait" Magnus agreed, resting his elbows on the table. He grinned at the snort. He knew he was full of himself, but that wasn't exactly what he would call it. He would describe it more as hugely self-confident. But that was to keep people from thinking he was an overconfident asshole. "You should eat more. Don't forget, you're eating for two now. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day" he pointed out, resting his chin on one hand and tapping his fingers on his jaw absent-mindedly. He may have been rail-thin, but he ate quite alot. He was incredibly thankful for his high metabolism.

"I guess. Izzy and my parents tell me the same thing too." He didn't care much for eating all the time. As a Shadowhunter he ate maybe snacks all day, and then dinner. Sometimes they'd even eat half a lunch. Whatever anyone had been in the mood for. Right now, they made him eat all the time. One benefit of this was him getting to sleep as late as he wanted. He went to bed whenever he was tired enough to ignore the restlessness, but usually woke up early because he had to pee. He had to pee a lot these days too. That got annoying from time to time, especially when he didn't want to get up. He went back to bed sometimes, but usually by then his heart was beating too fast and his mind was racing enough for him just to not be able to go back to sleep. "What'cha been up to lately? keeping yourself out of trouble, right?" Alec couldn't watch him twenty-four/seven, he only knew what Magnus did when he was around him.

"Well if you have four people telling you the same thing, it might be a good idea to listen to them" Magnus said lightly, smiling slightly. Pregnant people were supposed to eat a lot, since what they ate didn't always go directly to them, it would go to the baby. So if Alec didn't eat enough it would ultimately be him getting malnourished. At the question he grinned widely. "Most of the time" he answered innocently. "I've just been doing the usual, working, shopping, the occasional party" he shrugged. The parties would be the exception to the 'most of the time'. It was nothing that was exactly illiegal, since nobody thought to make laws against the things a bunch of drunken Downworlders got up to.

Alec grinned innocently. "Probably." He listened most of the time. To his parents, most of the time Izzy, never Clary, and usually Jace. Almost always Magnus. There were the few exceptions, but they got around that when Magnus found out. He almost always did. Alec couldn't really remember at the time what the things he'd gotten away from. He felt like he had gotten a few things past him, but he wasn't sure what. They probably hadn't been very significant things. "I guess when I remember to eat." He remembered to eat when his stomach growled at him for not eating. He should probably be eating more snacks in between his meals.

Magnus laughed, shaking his head. "I should be here more often, making sure you eat. Or write it on your forehead, so you do remember. Would you mind if I wrote 'EAT' on your forehead?" he asked innocently, trying to keep his face as serious as he could. If Alec didn't want it on his forehead he could always put it. . . somewhere else. He would be perfectly fine with that. "I probably eat more than you do. And I just happen to be a very busy person. So I'm sure you can fit food into your busy scedual" he teased, running one hand through his hair. He tended to do that alot, even if his spiked hair didn't move much from that.
