"Uhh, Merry Christmas, Mom," Alec said, trying to help get her attention. She was hastily doing whatever it as. He approached her a little cautiously, tapping her on the shoulder. She turned around as she jumped, hand going down to the pocket she kept her stele in. Shadowhunters were never the best people to sneak up on, not that they'd really snuck up on her. She could have been attacked though, since she'd been so distracted and busy with whatever. "Hey, Mom," Alec greeted when she relaxed as she saw who it was. He gave her a hug, he was nearly taller than her. She glanced at Magnus and Skylar, giving them a somewhat weary smile.

"Hello, boys," she said to them, releasing her son from a hug and willing herself to hug Magnus. "Hey there, Skylar. Merry Christmas."

Magnus knew that sneaking up on a Shadowhunter was risky business, so he raised an eyebrow as Alec approached his mother. He caught the hand reaching for what he knew was probably her stele, before realizing who was there. "Hello" he replied, accepting the rather awkward hug. He had never realized really how tall Maryse was, not that he really cared much. "Do you need any help? You shouldn't be working too hard on Christmas" he offered, knowing he could probably get whatever she was trying to do done a lot faster than she could, with or without magic.

Maryse sighed and looked to the food she had been trying to prepare. Made from scratch, cookies she used to make that her family had loved. What made them so special was her only making them once a year, if even that. "Ah, no, thank you. I can do this. I just need to hurry it up. I'll be fine. You guys go on and greet Robert and Izzy." Alec just nodded and took Maguns' hand to the living room, assuming that was were they'd be. It was one of the closest rooms to the kitchen anyway, so no doubt they'd be there, unless they were feeling anti social and just sitting in lonely rooms. Well, if others were here, they'd have to be in here. Alec walked into Isabelle and Simon, unfortunately kissing. He jerked backwards and gave a small noise of surprise as they pulled apart. Iasbelle gave him a half glare but then saw Skylar.

"Hey, buddy!" she said, pulling away from Simon from where they sat on the couch. She approached Alec's family, adjusting her shirt. Alec really didn't know they were together. He glanced at the glasses kid with a raised eyebrow, who was equally staring at him and Skylar.

Magnus nodded, not pressing any further. "All right" he accepted, giving a smile. He followed Alec to the living room in the Institute, raising an eyebrow and smirking at the sight that met their eyes, which his lover didn't seem too happy to see. It was slightly amusing that Alec had a child, yet found it so disturbing to walk in on his sister simply making out with somebody. It was as if he didn't do it several times a day. "Merry Christmas Isabelle, Simon" he greeted the two, not surprised that the middle Lightwood child's attention was instantly drawn to Skylar.

"Um, y-yeah, Merry Christmas, Izzy, Simon," Alec said as well, avoiding eye contact with Simon now. The former-Mundie was kissing his sister, for reasons beyond him. She had only showed 'feelings' for him at the party they'd met Magnus. She just used guys who had an interest in her, maybe she was still using him now? You could never tell with Isabelle if she meant her feelings or not. "Err, who else is here?" he asked her, trying to get a subject that wasn't awkward to talk about.

"Well," she said, not bothered by what her brother had walked into. "Jocelyn and Luke said they might stop by, but if they do, it won't be very long. Maybe an hour or two. Three at most." They were still taking the Clary thing hard, then, Alec guessed.

Magnus caught the stutter instantly, and knew how awkward Alec found this. That wasn't a shocker. He shifted Skylar's weight slightly while he listened to Isabelle's answer. "Well if they stop by, they need to be told about Skylar. They, ah, still don't know" he wasn't all too sure that Simon knew either, but Isabelle might have told him. He moved to go sit on the couch, pausing to mutter to Isabelle as he walked by. "Nobody told me you were macking with the mundie boy" he laughed lightly, his voice low as he said it, before sitting down on the couch, Skylar in his lap.

"He's not a Mundie anymore. He's a downworlder," Isabelle replied without the whispering. She didn't ultimately care what everyone in the room heard. Alec thought he got it now. Because he was a downworlder now, a vampire of the Dumort, he was interesting. Isabelle liked dangerous relationships still, for some reason. She must have gotten used to them.

"Err, whatever you say, Iz," Alec replied, not having heard Magnus' part of the conversation, but figuring enough it had something to do with Simon and him being a vampire.

"Well he's not the only Downworlder here, so he can't be 'the Downworlder boy'. Well, he could I guess" Magnus stopped to concider this, since he was a man as of a loong time ago, and Simon was forever stuck a kid. Well, more of a kid than the forever 19 warlock. He shot Alec a grin when the teen sounded a bit unsure of what was going on. He crossed his long legs, looking at Simon for a moment, recalling his party and grinning. "I could always bring back 'Rat Boy'. That one was fun" that was a rather amusing incident, obnoxious or not.

[Nyako-Chan]

Isabelle covered her mouth in semi mock horror. "You wouldn't dare! Magnus!" she said, rushing to Simon's side and throwing her arms around him, who looked a little surprised by the mentioning of the rat incident that had occurred to him at Magnus' place. He looked as if he really just didn't want to think about rats ever again.

"I dunno, Magnus says a lot of things you don't think he means, and then he does it anyway," Alec said with a shrug, referring to a few cases of Magnus saying something Alec didn't believe, and then coming home to find out he really had done it. Alec wasn't sure why people would want to do half the things Magnus did.

"Oh, but I would dare. Maybe not on Christmas, but any other time" Magnus did whatever he wanted, and the only thing that could stop him would be if it would harm Alec in any way, or if Alec didn't want him to. "Alec's quite smart. You should listen to him" he nodded, in total agreement with what his lover had just said. He didn't know Simon very well, other than him being that kid with glasses who got turned into a rat. Clary's friend. So he would have even less of a problem calling him rat boy than if he even knew the kid.

[Nyako-Chan]

"I can't believe you!" Isabelle said, voice a little higher than normal indoor voice. She was so dramatic, especially when she was joking around like this. "You're so cruel! So evil! So...so..." She'd run out of words for a moment. "Evil!" she repeated, pointing an accusing finger at him. "You and your devious, sparkly ways!"

Alec just rolled his eyes. They were having a lot of fun with whatever this was. He would say Simon's face matched his right about now, confused, if not, somewhat amused because of whatever was going on between the two drama queens.

Magnus raised an eyebrow, smirking slightly. This was turning out to be interesting already. "Evil? I would like to think myself more badass than evil" he said, leaning back into the old couch. "But, I do believe Alec likes my devious sparkly ways, so I'm not going to be changing any time soon honey, sorry. Just be happy that Rat Boy isn't like me" he threw in the name just for the reaction this time, well aware that he had said he wouldn't do it on Christmas. Isabelle really was fun to talk to, crazy as she was.

"Whatevz," Isabelle said, waving her hand dismissively. "Your sparkly ways are no match for his vampiric ways of Daylighting it." Actually, she already knew Magnus was a hard one to beat. He could probably take down the Clave if given cover long enough to perform a spell like that. Or spells. She believed he could take down almost anything as long as something wasn't in the midst of charging him or attacking him while he focused spells.

"I'm not even sure what you guys are talking about now," Alec said, shaking his head. Something about powers? It sounded like a contest of comparison, so he assumed.

"I beg to differ. I've got some mad skills. I sparkle in the sun, AND the dark, and I'm not even a vampire" Magnus was referring to the stupid Mundie vampire fad that started with Twilight. He turned his attention to Alec, flashing a grin. "Don't worry sweetie, you don't need to know" he said, since the argument was merely in fun, and it didn't matter in the least. One look at Simon told him that the vampire didn't know what was going on either. If it was a real comparison, he would have won already.

Sparkling in the sun and the dark? The glitter, yeah, sure, maybe not the dark, but he could make himself sparkle there if he really wanted, Alec thought to himself. They must be referring to something he didn't know about, but of course, that could really be anything. "Sure," he said, shrugging. He didn't need to know a lot of the things they knew, because chances were he wouldn't care for it anyway. Why were Alec and Simon the only ones in the room who didn't understand what the other two were talking about?

"For your information, Warlock, vamps that sparkle are faeries, everyone knows that," Isabelle said, rolling her eyes and flipping her hair over her shoulder as if anyone would know this, even Alec and Simon. "Warlocks that sparkle in the light and the dark are fireworks." They went out with a big bang with everything they did, even little things like entering a doorway or something.

"Really now? Well as far as my knowledge goes, Edward Cullen isn't one of the fey. And I do believe he sparkles. Just not as much as I do" Magnus half struck a pose, since he had Skylar in his lap, and his arms supporting him, it was slightly difficult. "Fireworks. . . it fits" he mused for a moment, not really having thought of that. "But Warlocks that sparkle in the light and dark are just plain awesome anyways. There's no wya you can out-shine my awesomeness" he nodded, not caring how bigheaded that sounded.

Magnus and his cockiness, Alec thought, would some day maybe get him hurt. Maybe not hurt, but at least targeted by someone equally cocky in their looks, talents, and whatever else they believed to be or have. "Edward Cullen? Wait, never mind. That's probably whatever you're referring to, and I won't even remember by the end of this event to try to look him up or ask around," Alec said, since they made this guy sound important. Or rather, the way they talked about him, not so important.

With a wave of a manicured hand, Isabelle sighed loudly. "Egocentric, dramatic, narcissistic, and ob-nox-iouuusss~" she listed. "Did I miss anything? Tell me again, brother dear, why this kind of man is your type?" Alec knew she was kidding.

"'Cause he's Magnus," he said simply, as if being Magnus explained everything. According to the warlock, it did.

Magnus knew that his fiance didn't know who Edward Cullen was, since he didn't know most modern things, if any, and as far as he knew, Alec didn't secretly sneak out to see teen vampire chick flicks. His green-gold cat eyes didn't change as Isabelle listed off a few of his charachteristics, that he was personally fine with, but they did flick to Alec, to see what his answer would be. He grinned at the short answer. "Love you too, Darling" he said, laughing slightly. Skylar had started to doze off in his arms, so he held him carefully. "At least I don't try to steal people's lipstick" he shrugged, looking back to Isabelle, slightly reluctantly.

Isabelle took a brief second to recall the lipstick thing. "Wh-what! No way, I returned those! It's not stealing if I gave those back!" she declared hotly, counting the ones she had taken and trying to remember where she had placed them after trying to put them back in their original spot. She didn't think they'd been the original spot, and didn't think Magnus would notice. Did she forget one? Maybe. That might explain why it was one of the ones unused on her dresser in her room. She'd forgotten about it, hadn't even looked at it except to check what color it had been. Maybe she'd slip it into Alec's pocket before he left today so it wouldn't count as stealing anymore.

Magnus had only been kidding, not really minding that she had taken only one of the colours, and he figured that she would return it eventually, but he laughed at Isabelle's reaction. "Didn't you notice they were in rainbow order?" he asked, raising an eyebrow, amusement clear in his expression. "I was just kidding anyways" he added, not too sure if she was actually offended by that. She had sounded like it, overly dramatic or not. He conjured up Skylar's little seat from home, and it sat on the living room floor, as he set his son in it and buckled him in. He wasn't sure what the point of the restraints were, but he was chastised by Alec when he left them undone.

"Rainbow order, huh?" Isabelle contemplated, only now deciding that they had been in rainbow order, red shades of all sorts to violet shades of all sorts. Everything in the middle had been quite the sight. She personally thought he should have some brown in the middle of yellow and orange, but whatever. She had all of her make up set up on her dresser, not really in an order, mostly from what she used a lot to what she used only with certain outfits. "Yeah, so was I," she passed off in what she thought was coolly. She was still putting the lipstick in Alec's pocket before he left though.

Magnus always had fun sorting out his makeup like that. It made it easy for him to find, which colour he was looking for, because they were always in the same place, until he and Isabelle had had that competition through Alec while he was in Idris. "Of course" he said, his tone neutral, but he had in fact noticed the one missing, when he had gone to use it. He had a feeling it would somehow make it's way back to his vanity by tomorrow, but that was just a guess.

[Nyako-Chan]

"You don't believe me," Isabelle exclaimed, not surprised in the least, still, raising her voice just enough to sound on the real side. "My brother's fiance, one of my friends, doesn't believe me!" She scoffed. She was making a show of this. She turned to Simon, who was looking like he really was believing her. Alec looked torn between the two due to logic. "Can you believe it, boys? Magnus doesn't believe me. Alec, why doesn't your fiance believe me?" Alec shrugged, not caring that much. She was joking, he gathered that now because if she meant it, she'd be at Magnus' face, clawing at his shirt and probably screaming. She hadn't done that yet, so he had to guess.

"I never said I didn't believe you" Magnus denied, leaning back and crossing his arms behind his head. He knew that this was all for show, and he knew it was because she had taken it, unless Alec had taken it for some unknown reason, and he knew that nobody believed that she was angry. He wasn't surprised that Alec had only shrugged, his thoughts written clearly on his face. "How could I ever not believe you Isabelle? That has to be impossible" The middle Lightwood child could be convincing, when she wasn't putting it on like this.

((just thought about this, but is Max here for Christmas?))

"You were implying it, I can tell," Isabelle insisted, not caring that her dad had walked in and was staring at her to wonder why she was having a conniption of some sort. "Ah, hey Dad, looky!" she said, turning her attention to him instead. "Alec and Magnus and Skylar are here." They could introduce themselves on their own, but whatever. Isabelle had beaten them to it.

"Hey, Dad," Alec greeted, waving. Skylar was in his chair and out of it anyway. Magnus seemed to like his dad compared to his mom, since his dad had accepted this faster than she did.
