Magnus raised an eyebrow when weather appropriate was brought up. "Are you forgetting that I'm a warlock? Cold isn't a problem for me" he shook his head, slightly amused that Alec would have mentioned that. "Don't worry, I'm going to wear jeans, and I'll have a coat" he smiled a bit reassuringly at Alec. And Skylar would be bundled up, since he was too young to be getting cold. "We won't be going outside though anyways" the only cold would be the not very warn halls of the Institute.

"You feel cold sometimes," he said, "not often, from what I see, but you get cold at least a little bit. Magnus shivering wasn't seen very often, Alec wondered what it took to make him freezing cold like Alec usually was. "I dunno about that, Isabelle likes snow ball fights," Alec mentioned, because she could get competitive with those, although she hated getting hit with them. She was good at packing snow quickly, and aiming correctly, or maybe it was just Alec not being very fast at gathering the snow and ducking in one go. Isabelle was fast enough to do both of those, and she usually had a fort ready the day before. Alec would get pelted with snow balls until he made his own fort.

"Sometimes" Magnus allowed, nodding. He didn't often get cold, it was true, but there were the rare times. Normally when he was just sitting at home alone. Alec was enough to keep him warm, and if he was outside in the cold, he always had some kind of spell on him to keep the chill out. He wasn't a fan of the cold. He much preferred the warmth. "Hm, I may as well start getting ready now. I'll be back for Skylar in a bit, kay?" he got to his feet a bit reluctantly, stealing a kiss from Alec as he did so.

"Okay," Alec replied, watching Magnus leave to get dressed. He had Skylar with him, but he still felt a little empty without Magnus next to him. He could see Magnus in the same room with him, and if he wasn't touching him in some form, or in the very least, near him, Alec felt just a little left out. He didn't tell Magnus for the reason being that Magnus might think he was abandoning Alec and then wouldn't leave his side for fear of giving him abandonment issues. Magnus just carried the piece of him that he didn't have, so him leaving carried that piece farther.

Magnus headed straight to his closet, pulling his red skinny jeans and black boxers out of the mess, soon followed by a white tshirt with a ginger bread man on it, that just happened to have a bite taken out of it's face. He liked that shirt. He pulled the clothes on quickly, putting on rainbow socks, and then heading into the bathroom. This was going to be the tricky part. His hair, he already knew what he was doing, but his makeup, he had no idea.

Skylar and Alec watched the cartoon on the T.V. and half listened to Magnus getting ready. Or at least Alec was. His dressing was amazingly quicker than he had heard it before, but now that he was in the bathroom, that was the unpredictable part, time wise, for the most part. Alec would have looked for a different cartoon to look at if Skylar didn't look so absorbed by the one with the reindeer right now. It was cute and all, but after a while it was just plain eyebrow raising.

Magnus could hear the Rudolph playing in the other room as he got ready, putting the red and green colour in his hair, and spiking it all towards the left side, leaving the bangs loose, but hanging on the left as well, partially covering his eye. Once that was perfected, about half an hour later, he had to start on the makeup. Light green eyeshadow, black eyeliner, red lipstick, and silver glitter was decided on in the next forty five minutes or so, when he pronounced himself done, pulling on forest green converse and walking out to collect Skylar. "All done" he sang, in a good mood for this early in the morning.

Quite nearly an hour, maybe not an hour to the fullest, but close, Magnus was done, and Alec was amazed to see what he was wearing. Why would he be amazed when he dressed like this pretty much every morning? Because Magnus looked good in anything, every time, so it never ceased to amaze Alec what he wore. One of the benefits of Magnus being so fashionably talented, his clothes style and taste always made him think. Alec almost wished he had that talent, but it didn't do much for Shadowhunting, so it didn't cross his mind that often.

Magnus felt very Christmasy, if anything. "Okay, I'll get Skylar dressed now" he decided, walking over and holding his hands out to take their son. He had no idea what the little boy was going to wear, but it was going ot have to be something good, not only because he was his son, but also because it was his first Christmas, which was always important. There were probably going to be a million pictures capturing their memories on this day, and Magnus was looking forward to it. "You can get dressed now, or in a bit, unless you feel like going in your pj's. Not that I mind either way" he winked, well aware that Alec would never go anywhere in this pajamas.

Alec had just been about to get up to get dressed as soon as Magnus had taken Skylar to dress. He handed Skylar over, who's eyes followed the T.V. as he traveled. He really liked the moving pictures on the screen that sang and danced, apparently. "I'm just gonna get a hoodie and some gloves, probably," he said, even though he was beyond freezing in the snow with a big jacket. Hoodies were just easier to move around in if he was attacked outside, that was his excuse. He just didn't like big coats, even though hoodies weren't very good for keeping heat in. "You don't get the pleasure of seeing me walk around in P.J.s today, at least not for this."

Magnus was slightly amused that Skylar was so captivated with the television, his purple eyes following it as he was handed over. He rolled his eyes when Alec said what he was going to wear, but he smiled anyways. He really hadn't expected anything more. He put on a mock pout when he was told that he wasn't going to get the pleasure of watching Alec in his pajamas. "Aww, why not? Wait, does that mean I get to see you naked instead? Your birthday suit isn't your pajamas" he pointed out, grinning wickedly and shifting Skylar to the side slightly.

"Um, no, but they're your pajamas, so it's technically linked to the subject and doesn't work." Alec hadn't been too many places he undressed fully, or felt comfortable about. Alec was quite comfortable stripping here and staying stripped as long as the door was locked so his nosy sister couldn't barge in one moments notice. The Institute felt safe for the most part, Idris, fairly enough it felt okay, as long as there weren't many people trafficking in and out of where ever he was. Being naked, though most Shadowhunter males had the same body type, made Alec uncomfortable and insecure, at least more than he already was.

Magnus frowned when his logic was turned right back around. "That's not fair. I think I have a right to see you naked on Christmas" he decided, sure that he would get to by the end of the day. Isabelle would probably be busy tonight, but maybe Robert and Maryse would watch Skylar for them, and they could have the night alone. Alec wasn't as shy with his body around the warlock anymore, but he still was a bit nervous with it. Magnus was working on getting around that, but it was rather adorable.

"I guess, but later," Alec told him, walking to the bedroom to get clothes on. He never wore snowpants or boots to play in the snow. Regular shoes were fine with him, even though snow leaked through and made his socks wet. His feet would freeze and eventually it wouldn't be easy to run around with numb feet. Magnus had plenty to choose from to dress their child, and he could conjure up more if he didn't like the selection they had now. He grabbed dark jeans, not black jeans, but dark jeans, and a t-shirt, pulling a sweater with a few holes in the arm, and one on the back. The collar was ripped in a farther v, giving him more room keeping away from his neck. Shadowhunters wore these well, when they were the right size. Sweaters usually hugged their muscular bodies, Alec's barely cluing to his shoulders.

Magnus shrugged, able to find no problem with that. He headed off to Skylar's bedroom, setting him down in his crib carefully and opening the closet. Their baby already had nore clothes than Alec did. He found that fact rather sad. "Okay Skylar, what should you wear today?" he asked, glancing down from the clothes to see his son looking at him with a rather blank look, obviously not understanding. "My choice? Okay" he turned back to the closet, eventually picking out blue jeans and a black tshirt with a brand name for baby clothes on it, and a red zip-up sweater. He glanced at the clock in the room, blinking in surprise that it had taken him half an hour to pick that out. He picked Skylar up again and headed out to find Alec.

Alec had taken a third of the time to dress than Magnus had taken time to dress their baby. He had taken about an eighth, maybe more than that, to dress than both his fiance and child had changed. Not that Skylar was at fault for this, because Magnus was the one dressing him. He found Magnus looking for him, and he looked to what Skylar was dressed in. "You look really nice, Skylar," Alec said to his baby, "Magn- uh, Dad dressed you up so we can go to..." he thought, "Grandma and Grandpa's house for Christmas. You can watch reindeer cartoons there if Isabelle gives you some peace." Isabelle and everyone else pretty much. Their baby's first Christmas was a big event for everyone in the Institute. "I wonder if Jocelyn and Luke are coming. I think Isabelle invited Simon."

Magnus smiled when he found Alec, in his overworn holey sweater and jeans. He took the compliment from his fiance to his son as a compliment to him, for being the one to dress him. He really hoped he would be able to dress himself just as well when he was older. "I think that mean's your chances are slim, darling" he said to Skylar, looking from the wide purple eyes to the deep blue ones. "It wouldn't surprise me if they are, both of them being Nephilim and all, Luke being a Child of the Moon or not" he would like to not be the only Downworlder there, so Luke being there would be a good thing. And this would be a good time to tell Jocelyn and Luke about Skylar.

His parents, when they were around the Institute and not stationed in Idris for whatever reason, invited friends to be around, to keep amused. The job of a Shadowhunter needed at least a friend, or someone to be an ally. They wouldn't be inviting as many this year, because of Alec and Magnus, and Skylar. Secrecy was important for all of them now, and everyone they knew could be a danger in some way. "Luke might like Skylar, I mean, if he put up with Clary for all those years, he's bound to like a quieter kid." With Clary gone, would that family even show up? The Lightwoods invited them over so they might not be so sad, but because Jace was gone, they'd probably just all share the sadness of the loss.

Magnus had no idea who would be showing up to this, other than the Lightwoods, but he didn't mind who was or wasn't there, as long as Alec didn't leave, and Jace didn't come back from the dead. Now that would be unfortunate. He would have to blow his head off, for being an ass even while dead. "Yeah. And maybe that he's half Nephilim half Downworlder, like Luke himself is" he pointed out. He figured that might have some kind of attatchment between the two. It would be interesting to see when Skylar was older. "Well, shall we go?" he asked, supporting his son in one arm carefully and holding the other out for Alec like a gentleman.

"Yeah," Alec agreed, though not all half breeds liked each other just because they were half whatever and half of another whatever. Luke liked kids, he had a lot of patience, hopefully he had some left even after Clary, since she did take things up like a sponge. He wouldn't be too surprised if Luke didn't have the temper to deal with kids, but Alec would bet Clary had been a pest when she was little, and she probably whined a lot. Skylar was a polar opposite of Clary from what he guessed. Quiet children would be a nice change for Luke. He and Jocelyn might have a nice quiet kid one day, and he'd be Skylar's technical cousin. He took Magnus' offered hand and kissed him on the cheek first.

Magnus smiled when his fiance took his hand, and he recieved a kiss on the cheek. He opened the portal by simply twitching his fingers a bit, right into the Institute's kitchen, unsure wheather they were walking into chaos or not. "Ready to brave your mother's wrath?" he asked, looking down at Alec with a raised eyebrow. He had a feeling that Maryse would be one of the people who would flip on anybody who got in her way while she was cooking a big meal.

[Nyako-Chan]

"Ready as I'll ever be to face her wrath. We have Skylar with us, she can't possibly be mad if he's with us. She wasn't that mad when she saw him for the first time." Her rage had cleared instantly when she'd seen the child of her oldest son and his boyfriend. Maryse might be finishing up some last minute things right now, so she might not notice them unless they restrained her from cleaning or cooking or setting up things. Depended on how much she thought she needed to finish or correct. She was a Shadowhunter renowned for fighting, intelligence, leading, and cleaning.

"This is true. Children make good shields" Magnus said, nodding. Whenever Skylar was around people tended to be less angry, although he was sure that Maryse still slightly blamed him for getting Alec knocked up. "Alright, onward, my dear Alec" he stepped forward, leading the way through the portal, into the almost empty kitchen of the Institute. Maryse was fiddling with something he couldn't see, and seemed a bit preoccupied with it. He was considering that maybe they could sneak past, but then again, this was Christmas.

Alec saw his mother working furiously at something, whatever it was. Decorations were set, the table was set, food plates sat on the table, though some was still being cooked. Maryse did a good job at cooking, unlike Isabelle. Isabelle was no where to be seen in the kitchen. His mother must have used that old excuse that no one was allowed in there while she was cooking, just so Izzy wouldn't feel so left out when they didn't want her anywhere near the food that they'd be eating. Food poisoning was something awful, and even worse when it was on a holiday. No one wanted food poisoning usually, and no one wanted any food poisoning today.

Magnus looked around the kitchen, which looked pretty nice compared to it's normal dreary state. And he was glad that it smelled very good in there, making his stomach growl, unlike Isabelle's cooking, which was more likely to make him want to run. He cleared his throat after a moment, deciding to make their prescence known. "Merry Christmas Maryse" he said happily, grinning and wondering what kind of mood she was in as she worked at whatever it was she was doing.
