She was annoyed, angry, hurt, she hated that he was doing to her. She spun on her heel. "I don't want you," she growled, and stalked off, back to her friends house, where she just wanted to hide the rest of the day. Or maybe forever.

Alec laid down rubbing his leg it was paining him grately and now that Adriana was gone it could be tended to he called for another guard since Brodrick was with Annora. The wound was swollen but there wasnt much that could be done but to bleed it. He nodded for the work to be done.

He knew that Adriana was mad but she would calm down she would have to. Upon instructions he took a drink that would lull him to sleep so his wounds would have more time to heal.

Adriana sat down on her bed, with her head in her hands. She was trying hard not to cry. She tired of feeling like her uncle and Alec just thought of her as an object. She had a mind, she was strong willed, stubborn, fiery. She hated being told how it was going to be, she hated that Alec wanted to take her opinion, her free will away from her, and tie her to him. For her protection, that was a terrible excuse. As if she was afraid for her life, and needed protection.

She wanted to be loved, to be courted, to be cared for, she didn't want to be forced to someone's side. She dreaded the day when her uncle set up an arranged marriage for her. But this was different, this was... worse.

Alec slept for only a couple hours before he awoke. Brodrick was sitting in the chair by his bead. As soon as he opened his eyes Brodrick spoke "May I speak freely?" Raising an eyebrow Alec nodded it must be serious since Brodick was hardly formal with him.

"The lady Adriana is a gentle woman, but she is strong, you have seen the recovery of your daughter, yes she is your daughter, she is a mirror image of your wife, we all loved her and we all miss her, but your daughter did not ask for her mom to die" Before Alec could interupt Brodrick continued, "We have all been worried about you but enough is enough, you know what your daughter asked me when she was ridding horses today?" He shook his head getting a little chocked up, "If she killed her mama"

Alec closed his eyes and Brodrick let that sink in, "Your daughter is a bright young girl, sure if she runs too much she coughs she was born young its bond to happen but she is so loving, now that the treatment the doctor prescribed stoped she is growing stronger, she is walking and running better, she loves animals and they seem to be drawn to her.

He paused "Now back to the Lady Adriana, I saw her tear out of here, you have hurt her and you have to fix it, if you demanded her hand in marriage you should have known better, what did you do to your wife, you woed her, it was slow. I relize you feel as if you have to protect her from her father and the plans he would have if he found out that he had a daughter, and her uncle but forcing her isnt the way to go."

Brodrick stood and looked down at him. "Think about that" he then walked out, wondering where Adriana was.

Adriana stayed in her friends house, only leaving if Annora needed her. But for the most part, she wanted to stay away from the others. She read a book, the entire time she was in Catriona's house, to keep her mind off Alec. She wanted to leave, to get far away from him, but then she couldn't leave Annora to face his bruteness alone.

Brodick not finidng Adriana had a feelingthat she was hidding from Alec, he was kicking himself, if only he could show her how genle Alec really was he was just scared of getting hurt again as much as the stubbrone goat wouldnt admit it.

Annora continued to thrive but wouldnt only eat if Adriana was there, the little girl was terrified that the medience that had made her so sick.

Adriana did emerge, after a little while. She went to go find Annora, she couldn't keep hiding, not when Annora needed her.

Alec had gone to where his wife was burried he had not been able to visit her grave, he had been away when she had died, it was still a mystery on how she died, some say that she jumped others said she would never while there was one story that she was thrown from the horse.

Nothing seeled to make sence. He looked down at the grave and sighed. "I really made a mess of things. He sighed, he didnt know how to fix anything. Annora was terrifed of him and Adriana was angry.

Adriana ran a hand through her hair, she was a little distracted, her thoughts all jumbled. She was still a bit upset, and she just wanted to avoid Alec, for a very long time. She found Annora, and took the young child into her arms, hugging her.

Annora clapped her hands when Adriana came and hugged her back. A woman sitting here smiled "Purhapes you can get her to eat the stew, she is scared that the poisin is in it, but its not but she only trusts you"

She ruffled Annoras hair then walked out, Annora looked up at her. "Annnora no more sick, no eat till Adana" She pornouced the name a little wrong "Tells me its okay"

Adriana smiled at the woman. "Okay, thank you." She glanced to Annora and chuckled. "It's okay, Annora," she stated and kissed the child's forehead. "Lets get some of the yummy food in your tummy." Sitting down with Annora in her lap, she offered a spoonful of stew to Annora.

Annora giggled as she kissed her forhead then hungerily opened her mouth to take in the stew. "MMMMM" She said and opened for more. She smiled and her faithful cat jump up beside then and licked his lips watching the food go in he was puring loudly.

Alec still staring at his wife's grave sighed pulled some weeds away from the area stood and watchned the men training. Eventually he went back inside and poured himself some wine and sat in his chair not sure what to do with the Annoora and Adriana problem.

Adriana smiled at Annora. The child was so cute, she loved her so much already. It was pleasing, how sweet Annora was, when her father was so gruff, and mean. She got another spoon full and gave it to Annora.

Catriona had seen how upset Adriana was, but Adriana hadn't wanted to talk about it. So, after Adriana was off tending to Annora, Catriona headed toward Alec's keep, to see if she could talk to him.

Annora continued to eat and making small grunting sounds. She looked up at her. Adriana then giggled and clapped her hands seeing that she was done. She looked at her. "Outside?" She asked softly.

Alec hearing someone apporaching turned and stood "Catriona" He said softly. He looked her over. "Feeling well I hope" He said. He knowing that her time was coming. "Please sit" He waved to a chair and rubbed his temples. He wouldnt sit down until she sat down .

Adriana smiled softly. "Of course, outside sounds great," she stated, holding Annora close as she stood up and made her way toward the outside.

Catriona smiled softly at him. "I am well," she replied. She carefully sat down, rubbing her stomach. "How are you?"

Annora beemed "Come kitty" The cat meowed and jumped off the bed and walked with them outside the tail swishing. Annora blinked as the sun hit her and lifted her face to the sun.

Alec sat down and looked to Catriona "I am well too" He said softly taking another drink. He wasnt really well but he wouldnt burden a very pregant woman with his own issues, especially with Adriana's best friend.

Nodding Annora looked at a butterfly and attempted to grab at it. Then clapped her hands as the cat tried to pounce on it too as it flew around. Neither were able to catch it though.

Alec rubbed his temples. "Suppose I cant hide it from you, its no wonder that my brother was attracted to you, the both of you are so similar" He paused "I just dont know how to handle the Lady Adriana is all, thought she would be happy that she would be protected"

Adriana chuckled, as the two tried to catch the butterfly. She sat down beneath a tree, with Annora in her lap.

Catriona ran her hand over her stomach, the baby kicked her often. "Ah, I see," she understood now why Adriana was upset. "She's independent, and wants to take care of herself. She doesn't want to be in a marriage if it is going to be a loveless marriage." Sighing, she watched him. "You can't just force her into something. Her uncle doesn't give her freedom, the last thing she would want is to be trapped in something else."

Annora sighed and leaned against her then watched as a ladybug landed on her toes. "What that?" She asked Adriana everything seemed to amaze the little girl that until now wasnt allowed outside her room.

Alec rubbed his temples again. "I dont want to scare you but her father is a man he doesnt know about Adriana and it worries me to think about what he would do if he was to find out. And her uncle could show up any day and demand her back, I just want to protect her, cant she see that love can wait that he life is more important?"

"That's a lady bug. She's harmless," Adriana stated with a soft smile.

Catriona shook her head. "Her father won't find out about her, unless you tell him. I am assuming you are the only one who knows about him?" She shifted to get a little bit more comfortable. "Most likely her uncle will be angry that she's gone, but he'll probably find it too much of an effort to get her back. Adriana doesn't think her life is important, I'm the only one in her life who actually really cared about her."

"wady hug" Annora repeated with a smiled. Annora continued watching the lady bug which seemed content to crawl on Annora's feet and legs. The litle girl giggled and then watched it fly away. "Awww" She said with a bit of a poubt. Then leaned against Adriana and up at the clouds she grinned. "Fluffy" She said. It seemed like almost everything was new to her, she was older but had been kept inside so much that she didnt know about the world.

Alec sighed. "Of course I wouldnt tell him, but people talk" He rubbed his jaw. "Was her life really that bad, now how did she met you?"

Adriana chuckled, and ruffled the girl's hair. She looked up at the clouds. "Those are clouds."

"We met when we were children. Her aunt would take her to the border when ever her uncle was away for a while," she replied softly. "She was lonely, afraid of her uncle."

"CLOWS" Annora repeated. She watched them move and then sighed and curled into Adriana. "Addana stay?" She asked her lower lip quivering.

Alec listened to Cationa and raised an eyebrow. "Did her uncle harm her?" He clenched his fist. "I just want her to be safe" His eyes showed fear he was not ready to admit that he was attracted to her, he still blamed himself for the death of his wife.

Adriana held Annora close. She sighed a bit. "I'll stay." For Annora, she would stay, but she wanted nothing to do with Alec, if he was just going to keep being gruff and bossy.

Catriona looked to her round stomach, her hand rubbing it gently. "He did hurt her. Mostly when he got drunk." Her gaze shifted to her. "You care about her."
