"Aye, she choose me... I'm her mate." he said. Daniel looked at Coven threateningly. "I swear, you move any closer into this cave, I will attack... just turn around and leave." he said. Daniel smiled. "Actually, I kinda hope you fight... I've been meaning to do this pack some good, and ridding the world of you will suffice..." he said spinning his blade his his hand.

"I guess biting you once wasn't enough." he said with a sigh as he changed and lunged for Daniel. He knew the pack would find out and be here soon. If he could just bite Daniel once more before they returned. That's what he was told to do. Change him. He hoped he wouldn't survive the change, even if he did he would kill him later.

"I'm harder to kill than you think." he said dodging out of the way. Daniel also knew, the moment Coven's fangs sink into him, he is done for... the pack was too far away to help him cure it... there was a chance he wouldn't survive it. He struck out with his sword, he still had not fully recovered, his moves were a bit sluggish. He started to wonder, there was another wolf guarding the entrance... did Coven kill him? He wondered about his fate.

She could smell blood as they came closer to the cave. She still had some distance between her and Daniel. She preyed he would be ok, it was the fight he had asked for. She hated herself for not seeing this, she hopped that Daniel wasn't fighting alone.

Coven tried again and again to get around Daniel to bite him. He tried to get behind him but failed and tried to get him at the sides but also failed. Coven looked across at Nathaniel then back to Daniel.

Daniel seen the look to the downed member of the pack. He thought for a moment that he was going to go for him. Daniel moved quickly, forgetting about defending himself, he only thought to protect the pack. His guard down. Daniel unknowingly gave Coven the opening he was looking for.

Coven saw his chance and lunged for Daniel...

She ran faster forgetting to breathe, they were getting closer to the cave. The others split to take the back of the cave and she moved round the front to the entrance.

Daniel turned in time to see Coven coming, but it was too late, he couldn't dodge or bring up his guard. He felt fangs pierce his skin, he felt the poison invade his system, the same poison that he had recently overcome. After a moment of pain, Daniel knocked Coven away and came at him quickly with his blade. He knew his fate was sealed, all he could do now is just protect Nathaniel till the others showed up.

Coven's fangs sank deep, he felt pleased in himself. Daniel knocked him over but he didn't care his task was done. He saw Daniel coming at him with his blade and he made for the exit.

Lith spotted Coven running from the cave, blood dripping from his mouth. She sprinted for him and took him down with two other members. Coven's gurgles filled her ears as she changed and scoped up her top and pants as she went inside. She saw Nathaniel blacked out on the ground and her eyes wildly searched for Daniel.

Daniel stopped running... he couldn't catch Coven... this bite was deeper... the venom was spreading quickly. He hadn't felt it too much yet... but he was hurt. He sat down to inspect it... he wasn't looking too good for him. He looked up to see Lith entering the cave. He wondered what she was going to say... how she would react... disappointment? Anger? Sadness? He promised her he would stay out of the fight... but the fight came to him. He tried to hide it... but he was bleeding fairly bad.

She spotted him and smelt blood. "Daniel" she shouted. She rushed to his side, "I'm so sorry Daniel... What has he done?" she asked. "Did he bite you?" she looked for the bite. She was almost in tears, how could she let this happen.

Daniel moved his arm a bit, showing where he was bit once more. His side, near his stomach and his back, he was gotten good. Pain started to flood his system... it wasn't a little bit like on his arm earlier... and he was out of that drink he had earlier. "Yeah... he bit me... but... It isn't your fault..." he said. "I... should have been a better fighter..." he managed to say.

Her eyes widened with fright. "Lupa bless" she whispered. She moved closer to the wound and leant forward to see how much of the venom she could get out. Before she bit him herself to take the venom out she said "It's not your fault my love... I should have been here".

"No... No... don't blame yourself... you were doing what you thought was best..." he said. He felt her fangs now... Sucking at the wound trying to make it better. Daniel sighed, pain started to get worse, the fever was returning. "It's too late for me... the poison... the venom... it's in my system now." he said. He stroked her head. "I love you... but... I don't think that you can stop it this time..." he said.

Her tears started to run down her cheeks. He was right, she couldn't take all the venom. She stopped and looked at him, his blood in her mouth, poison in her mouth. He stroked her head and tears rolled down her face "Daniel.... I'm.... I'm so sorry...."

Daniel was trying to remain calm, for her. He couldn't panic, it would make her worry more... he stayed calm even as pain started to rip through his body. He stroked her head once more seeing the tears go down her face. "It... isn't your fault... it is Coven... I swear... if... if I get my hands on him..." he managed to say... but he stopped... he couldn't be angry now. "Lith... will you stay with me? I'm... I'm actually feeling a bit... scared..." he said. It was getting worse fast... he didn't want to admit that he was worried or scared.. but... he was. "What... is going to happen to me?" he asked her trying to remain calm.

"Shh.. Rest my love" she said stroking his hair. She knew what his body was going through. She lay him down softly and kept running her hand through his hair. "I'm here" she took one of his hands and kissed it. "Don't be scared my love" she said trying to pull herself together. "The fever will take a hold..." she took a breath and closed her eyes "You will feel your muscles contract... I don't want to tell you anymore... Just think of the way you are now. Human.. Think of me as a human" she said knowing that if she told him about his ribs breaking and expanding he would be afraid. Others of the pack gathered inside, their heads bowed. They had lost their medic... Dersbry.

Having her with him was comforting, her hand going through his hair, knowing that she was with him, calling him love. It gave him strength. He wasn't so scared anymore. He tried to take deep breaths and focus. He had to think of the way he was now... human... she was human... he was human... he set his mind to that. He felt the fever taking hold of him. His breathing started to quicken. His muscles contracted. "How... long will it take... how long will the pain last?" he asked still managing to stay relatively calm... but he was worried. It showed his his eyes.

She felt so bad, knowing what he was going through she wished she could make it all go away. "It will take a night for you to change. Once the venom is through your blood you won't feel any pain". She held his hand and signaled to two others, they came over and pinned Daniel down by his arms and legs. "Daniel... This next bit will hurt... I'm here. Don't forget I'm here".

Daniel nodded, he continued focusing... he was human... human... he felt the call of the wolves though... his mind started to change a bit... it was an attractive choice... running free... no... human... that was what he was... he needed to focus on that. He continued... he felt the others pin him down. He nodded... she was right there... with him through it all. He didn't know what to expect... but it would have worried him more if he had known. He felt it... sudden, yet horrible pain. His ribs, they split, breaking, it hurt like hell. He cried out in pain, he couldn't hold back.

She shuddered hearing his cries of pain. She could hear the ribs crack. "Daniel... Think Human" she said holding his hand tight. It would all be over very soon but still the pain was heartbreaking. He had survived the fever and now he was battling the pain. She wished it would end, soon it would end.

He felt it... every one of his ribs breaking, moving one by one... but he felt it... Lith holding his hand, squeezing his hand. He stopped yelling in pain... it...was starting to subside... he was thinking human... he was thinking walking on two legs... thumbs, smooth skin rather than a furry pelt. He was thinking a home made of wood, villages, cities, towns... human... the pain was slowly subsiding... It wouldn't go away completely... but it was now bearable. His eyes closed. His body was going through much. "I'm... trying..." he said. The pain was leaving him... a few more minutes passing... it was nothing but a dull pain... nothing to bad. He breathed heavily still...

She watched his body fight their hands holding him down. She watched his face show the pain. She closed her eyes. His body started to settle down and relax. He was through it. It would take him a week to adjust but he lived through the change. She smiled weakly and stroked his hair. "Rest." she said kissing the top of his head.

Was... it over? He wasn't sure... he knew... that it would take time to change completely. He didn't feel different... or maybe it was just the worst of it being over... maybe more changes would happen. He felt Lith's sweet lips on his head... he gave her a weak smile. "Thank you... for staying with me... all of you..." he said to the pack. He closed his eyes and started to rest.

They all slept around him. She knew there would be worse things to come but for now she was tired and would sleep. She slept along time as exhaustion overtook her body.

Daniel had far from a peaceful sleep, his dreams held many problems, dealing with both the human side and the new side of him that was starting to settle in. He felt it... a strong urge to run under the moon, to throw caution to the wind and become a wolf... no... he couldn't... not yet. He had to remember that he was a human. Daniel woke up that morning and breathed... he could smell more things in the air than before, even after the first time he was bit. His body was changing... He couldn't hardly move yet though. He remained still until Lith would tell him it was safe...
