She nodded, too focused on the pain to make a snide comment. Shifting the bags slightly, she reached up and hauled herself up the side of the building, making it appear easy. It couldn't be farther from the truth. She found it was the hardest thing she had done in her life. Finally making it to the window, she slipped inside and collapsed against the wall, resting her head back against it, weary beyond all imagination.

Keath watched her climb... maybe she wasn't that hurt... she seemed to be able to handle it... though knowing her it was just a show for him... like she was fine... but he knew better. He dashed up the side as if it was nothing, easily finding handholds and footholds... he had done it many times. He climbed in through the window. He seen her against the wall. "There... we are safe..." he said. She seemed tired. This room was more grand than the basement... the bed bigger and looked much more comfortable... a small room containing a shower and the like stood off to the side. "Welcome to our new home... harder to get to as well, the route we took was actually the safest... the inside leading here could collapse..." he said. "Discourages people looking for me." he said.

She smiled wearily, peeking an eye open and looking at him, storing that information for later. She made no move to get up, settling for closing her eyes again, the bags still slung over her shoulders. Swallowing, she opened her eyes and lifted her arms which felt like lead, and carefully removed the bags, allowing her to breathe easier as her arms dropped back to her sides.

Keath rushed over to her side and helped her. "Here... I'll help you... you need rest, you look exhausted..." he said. He took the remaining bags off of her and set them aside. He then lifted her up with little effort and placed her on the bed. It was as comfortable as it looked. The whole time he was careful not to hurt her anymore than she already was. "Love... just rest... alright? You will get better, and you are safe here, I promise." he said.

She curled into him, her head dropping to his chest in pain and exhaustion. "I believe you," she whispered, relaxing atop the matress only to grunt as her dagger dug itself into her side. Placing her hand on the bed, she slowly pushed herself up and unbuckled her belt, slinging it over the edge of the bed. It was quickly followed by her heavy coat. Smiling to herself, she forced herself to relax, her eyes sliding closed against her will.

Keath kissed her once lightly. "I'll be right back..." he said Keath opened the window and climbed down, nobody seen him, as silent as a shadow. Keath raced back to the basement to grab the rest of the items... he picked up a large bag... he wouldn't return with it... she would be safe while he spread the treasure about.

She heard him leave, closing her eyes and dozing lightly, unable to descend into a deep sleep with the large amount of pain that was coursing through her body. Often, her eyes would fly open as she woke suddenly, only to realize she was safe and fall back to sleep. Her brow was knit in pain as she tossed and turned upon the bed, sleeping fitfully.

Once Keath ran out of items, he returned, the night half over... he looked to Kaia... he undressed and moved towards her, seeing her fitful sleep. He sat at the edge and stroked her hair. "Shhh... you will be alright... I'm here..." he said trying to calm her down. It hurt him to see her in pain like this... he couldn't do much... but he wanted to help in some way.

She felt him sit on the edge of the bed, opening her eyes blearily. Her skin was warm, not worrisome on a human, but different on one who's skin was usually cool to the touch. She reached up and placed her hand on his bare chest, drawing comfort from his soothing touch in her hair. "Keath," she said, closing her eyes again, "I'm glad you're back." She smiled wanly, the act looking pitiful, as she closed her eyes again. She was craving his touch, needing the familiar closeness.

Feeling the heat on her skin, he looked worried... the sun hurt her. He stood and closed the curtains... when sun came up... she would be safe... He felt her hands on his chest. He laid down next to her, carefully putting his arms around her. "I won't leave you... not again... everything is fine now... you... made a lot of people happy with that loot you helped me get." he said. He kissed her lightly.

She carefully kissed him back, drawing back and curling herself into his chest. "That is good," she said, her eyes sliding shut, "People deserve to be happy. No matter what." She shifted slightly, the pain making her uncomfortable, before relaxing once again. One of her arms slipped over his hip, resting there.

"Shhh..." he whispered. "Sleep... rest will do you good." he said. "I'll be right here..." he said holding her close to him. Enjoying how she curled up to him, despite the pain. He watched her eyes slide shut he smiled gently.

She shifted once again in his arms, her eyes opening as she stared at his bare chest. Resting her forehead against his chest, she battled against the pain that wouldn't allow her rest. Pressing her hand tighter against his hip, she used the contact she had with him to keep herself from being delirious.

Keath felt her almost shaking from the pain as he held her. He remained awake with her. Her hand pressing harder against him. He did nothing to stop her. He would help her through this, it was his fault she was in such pain... he... should have just given in, let her bite him. Then this wouldn't have happened to her...

She took a deep breath, feeling his guilt wash over her like near palpable waves. She slid her hand slowly from his hip to the side of his face, pulling his head down to look her in the eyes. "I may have only known you for a matter of days," she said softly, grunting as she adjusted to the new position, her pale eyes boring into his, "But you are tense, and I can practically smell your guilt. This is not your fault, Keath. You saved many lives. Many." She let her hand slide back down to his hip as she nuzzled her face into his chest, "Not your fault," she whispered again.

"I... I know... but... I opened the door... I should have found another way... the sun hurt you... I caused that..." he said sadly. "I could... have found another way... or just let you bite me... for a while... I actually wanted it." he said with a small smile. "I love you... I should have found another way... but... as long as you will be fine, that is enough for me." he said honestly.

She pulled back, hiding her wince of pain almost perfectly. Looking at him, she cupped his face with her hand, brushing her thumb over his cheekbone. "There was no other way," she said, her eyes locking with his, "I knew the sun would hurt me. That is why I made you promise. If I would have bit you, I would have became stronger, going on to someone else, on and on until I was stopped. Do you understand? There are only two ways I know to stop a vampyre in bloodlust, the sun, and a stake through the heart. You did what I asked of you." She gently brushed his lips with hers, her thumb hooking over his chin. Pulling back, she slipped back into her previous position, cuddled into his chest.

Keath relaxed a bit. "Alright... I'll take that then..." he said. "I feel a bit better now about it... but still, I wish I didn't have to. But a promise is a promise." he said. "How... long will you be in pain?" he asked. Holding her lightly so he wouldn't hurt her... at least not much...

Raising an eyebrow, she cracked one eye and smiled sardonically, before closing it again. "It varies," she said, her arm tightening around his hip, "I'm already starting to recover. The pain has been lessened from mind-blowing to dull throb. This will be one of my shorter recovery times." She felt his hold tighten around her, feeling the flare of pain, but bearing it in the place of being by herself through this.

With a small smile Keath said. "Good... The sun is coming up soon though... you should rest, the curtains are closed... it won't hurt you..." he said. "I'll stay by your side... I'm... actually pretty tired myself." he said with a yawn. "I love you... don't forget that..." he said closing his eyes.

She allowed her body to slip into unconsciousness, drawing warmth and comfort from his body pressed against hers. "I won't ever forget that," she whispered groggily, mere moments from sleep, "I love you. Don't you forget that." She slipped into sleep, her arms clutching him to her as she slept.

Keath slipped off to sleep as well, holding her lightly. That good feeling inside of him, knowing that she loved him. He would sleep soundly through the day... the next moonrise would be good for both of them... maybe new challenges.

She had only slept for a couple hours before she twitched back to consciousness. Her body was stiff and sore, but the pain from the sun was mostly gone. Looking up at his face, she saw he was still asleep, causing a smile to flit across her face. Slipping from the bed, she rose to her feet, crossing to the window and poking the curtain to one side. Hissing in pain, she pulled her forefinger from the sunlight, carefully putting the burned digit into her mouth sucking on it with a pout on her face. "Bastard sun," she muttered, pulling the wounded digit from her mouth, "Arsehole."

Keath heard talking, his consciousness slowly came back and he noticed that his arms were empty. He looked around and stretched seeing her by the curtains... he would need to get some heavier ones... so no light at all could get in to harm her. "My my... couldn't sleep?" he asked her.

She looked at him sharply, one of her eyebrows raised as she stared down at him. "It would appear so," she said, rolling her eyes slightly before glaring at the curtains, or more importantly, what they hid. She wandered around the room, idly trailing her fingers over anything that caught her eye. Turning and looking back at him, she wandered back toward the bed, climbing into it and crawling onto him. Straddling his lower body, she leaned down and kissed him solidly, if not a little rough, her hands gripping his hair possessively.
