Clause looks to her holding her close, he was sure that he wouldn't fall... Varok was weak now... at least for those few days... he was worried though... what would Varok do once he got control again... his mind was completely his right now though. They were about an hour into flight when he felt the burn... he was getting low... but he kept pressing on... he only wanted to take when he absolutely needed it... about another hour, his lips went down to find Riley's taking some energy from her, just enough to keep him going for a while.

"Or you could take a bit more. I can notice really easily when you're getting tired." she told him, though thinking that Varok might take whatever extra energy that Clause had. "You freak me out when you descend like that." she laughed nervously, still hanging on tightly. She couldn't wait until they stopped to rest. Her muscles were hurting she was hanging onto him so tightly. She didn't even think that her hurting muscles would affect her energy level, but the next time that Clause would take energy from her, she'd feel drained that much more. At this rate, they'd never get back in time... but Riley didn't let herself think of what if the worse happened. She ignored her being so tired so soon, and forced herself to relax so that her muscles wouldn't hurt as much.

Seeing that she was getting tired... he figured now would be as good a time as any to take some from her before he couldn't take anymore... he pressed his lips against her, hoping also to take her mind off of this flight... he deepened the kiss a bit before he took some of her energy... he was able to fly a bit better now... though he would feel the burn again soon... He broke the kiss. "It will be a bit longer... but... we should rest soon..." he said.

Her muscles relaxed soon, and Riley lay comfortably in Clause's arms. "Oh, I'll be fine. Just scare me a couple times. My energy will be back up in no time." she said, only realising what she just told him to do, after she said it. Her heart beated a little quicker, but she didn't make any other reaction on the thought. "We need to get as far as possible if we want the slightest hope of getting this done in time." she said, opening her eyes to see where they were.

Clause looked down at her... he knew the extra energy wasn't a good idea... but still, he didn't take too much more than he needed... he worked harder, hoping to work it off before Varok could take it flying faster. "When the sun starts to set... I'm going to stop... it's dangerous to fly too much at night." he said.

"Fine." Riley sighed, concentrating on regenerating her energy before the next time Clause drained her. "I'd rather be able to see where we're going anyway." she told him, keeping watch on their path. "I'd rather not be in the air at all, but both of us know that's not an option."

"Not right now Wolfie..." he said. "Just relax... I won't drop you... this is me... the good guy remember?" he said with a little laugh. Though he wasn't sure of it... eventually he wouldn't be of right mind... he was glad that she was strong... otherwise she might have been broken by now... his little pet. Then she wouldn't even want to leave her master. He didn't want that for her... he got her into this mess... and once again, he would help get her out of it.

"Yeah, I know you're the good guy." she looked up at him curiously. "Well, your other half would probably agree with me. He knows I don't like him much, though. Good guys seem to be the ones that always go to hell, though." she looked at him, her facial expression seeming extremely confused. It seemed that her other half didn't like Clause much. She found it odd that she wanted to anger him... anger made the body generate energy that felt like it would last forever and ever...

Clause kept flying, unsure what else to say, he just focused on flying, trying to use up every bit of energy that he had. He beat his wings harder and faster, watching the sun, when it got close to setting fully he would land, and they could rest for the night.

Riley smiled softly when she noticed the sky darkening later on. She remained silent until he would say something. In fact, she remained so silent that it barely sounded like she was even there. The only sound coming from her was the movement of her dress, which was silk, so it didn't make much sound at all. As per normal when she was in public with Clause, she linked her arm in his, and walked to the hotel he wanted.

Feeling her linking their arms, he wondered why she was so quiet... though, he didn't feel much like talking... he got them a room and went upstairs... the flight had taken a toll on Clause... he felt pretty tired... but he was happy... they were heading back... they made good time today... but tomorrow he would have to make it the rest of the way... and with limited energy... it would be tough.

If they rested for too long, they'd see the train passing them by in the morning. However, at the same time, if they didn't get enough rest then they might have to walk the rest of the way, then... Riley couldn't even imagine what would happen. She had to use more effort to get up the stairs than she thought she'd have to, but amazingly had enough energy to get into the room. Inside the room, the closest thing that looked like a bed was the fluffy area rug in the only open part of the room. So, she walked... dragged herself... over to the rug, and curled up, falling asleep rather quickly. Her breathing was still as quiet as the slow breeze outside, but to look at her, she'd appear to be fine.

Clause joined her, Seeing her curled up on the rug, he felt funny... he wanted to leave her there because she looked so peaceful... but he knew she would get a better sleep in the bed. He lifted her up and placed her in the bed. He was feeling extremely weak by now... He set the alarm... early enough that they would get a good enough start... and hopefully get going well enough. He climbed into bed, relaxing next to Riley... Closing his eyes as he nodded off.

When the alarm would go off, Riley was not about to wake up. A gun would have to go off before she would wake up to an alarm clock. It was strange, really. This didn't happen all the time.. just when it was most inconvenient for Riley. Fate was still playing tricks on her, it seemed. When the buzzer finally did sound, Riley simply rolled onto her stomach and hid her face in the pillow. Even natural light had annoying habits.

Clause forced himself awake... he wanted to just hit the alarm and cuddle up to Riley. Go back to sleep, get a lot of energy... but he knew that Varok would come back... a bit smarter this time around... He seen Riley roll over... he sat up. "Do you want breakfast before we go?" he asked. He didn't plan on eating... but she might. "You can sleep while we fly if you would like." he said.

She mumbled something into the pillow, then slowly pushed herself into a position resembling something of her sitting down. "If I'm getting up, I'm waking up too. Just two coffees to go, and I'll be fine." she said, almost mumbling that as well. She rubbed her eyes, trying to make them adjust to the room. "How much time do we got?" she asked him, not even remembering that she fell asleep on the rug. For all she cared, she was on the bed since she got there.

Clause thought for a moment. "Roughly 20 hours... it was later in the day when Varok came back..." he said. "It... is going to take some fast flying to get there... but... I think we can make it." he said. "As long as I have you to get a little bit of energy from... and Varok has practically been energy starved... we might have a little extra time..." he said. "If... we are there, and I start treating you like a pet... get me locked away... somewhere that your friends can do that spell... without my interference... I will want to do nothing more than take you away, hold you and brainwash you into thinking you are my pet... do you got that?" he explained while making some coffee for her.

"Yes, I understand." she said quietly, trying to remember the phone numbers that she could call when and if that happened. "It's not like I want Varok to come back, so I'm going to try to work as quickly as I can. In fact, I could make a phone call so that it's all setup by the time we get there." she thought, walking toward the phone that was in their room. She would call her boss's cell. Her boss had all the sources, so she knew he'd take care of it.

Clause sat down... coffee sounded good... but he knew any excess energy couldn't be a good thing. He looked to Riley, letting her call who she needed to... afterwords, he decided that he would find a way to get rid of the link for good... he knew it would end his life... but he didn't want to trouble her anymore...

Riley made her phone call, spending at least fifteen minutes trying to explain to her boss, Jack, what was going on. Once they had agreed to set up an ambush at the entrance of the Directorate building, Riley could tell that Jack didn't believe her. It wasn't anything like that stupid boy that cried wolf one too many times... it was more like, a Little Red Riding Hood story. Except in this story, Riley was the wolf that pretended to be somebody she wasn't. Jack didn't think the Demon would actually agree to do this. He didn't quite understand the whole two souls in one body thing.

She hung up the phone, walking over to the small kitchen to drink her coffee. "We have to go straight to the Directorate headquarters. That same building I went into to 'say my goodbyes' before we left." she explained, then noted, "Why aren't you having any coffee? You need energy of your own, too, you know." she poured a mug for him, pushing it into his hands without spilling any coffee.

Clause looked to her as she pushed the cup into his hands... he knew he shouldn't... but the thought of the energy that it would give him... he couldn't hold back... it was as if Riley offered to make out with him, giving him all the energy she had in the process... he wouldn't be able to pass it up. He started drinking.

Riley finished her two cups of coffee rather quickly, and straightened out her dress, combing out her hair with her fingers once more. "Hurry up, slow poke." she smiled, walking out of the room, and jogging the rest of the way to the front desk so she could check them out of the room. She'd probably be ready to walk out the door by the time Clause caught up... after all, all Riley had to do was getting into the secretary's mind, showing her that they were leaving and telling her to check them out within a matter of seconds. Of course, Riley would wait for Clause at the doors if she had to.

Clause hurried with her... now having to burn off more of the excess energy... that cup of coffee wouldn't help in the least... unless he used it as fast as he could. He moved with Riley, wanting to get out as quick as they could.

She paused for a moment so that he could pick her up, then held on tightly. She could tell the coffee had given him a lot of excess energy, but it didn't seem to bother her. She was determined that they would get back on time... but things were always able to go wrong... Riley tried not to think about it, and just closed her eyes, not wanting to watch the ground disappear from under her feet. "Got enough to last for a while?" she joked, now keeping her eyes on his eyes.

Clause looks down at her, seeing her vulnerable in his arms, wanting to press his lips to hers, drain her, with all the extra energy her body had from the coffee, it would give him a great boost... but he didn't... he knew those thoughts were from depriving himself from getting fully energized... He nodded. "Yeah... I should be alright for a bit... the coffee helped..." he said.
