Ariel blushes and says, “Thank you.” She looks at him seeing him wonder why she was being mistreated. She says, “My mother had fallen in love with her body guard and had me. As soon as I was born, my father had to be kicked out of the village. I think my mother blamed me for him having to leave.”

Blinking Jono looked at her surprised. "I ony thought that...can you read minds" He asked raising an eyebrow. "I am sorry about your father, I never knew my father either, my mom used to yell at me saying I was just like him, but I never met him so I dont know why she could have said that"

Ariel smiles and says, “No I can’t read minds, you are just easy to read.” She looks away from her mother’s painting and sat down on the floor. “My father I have only seen once when I was four. I was being attacked by a demon because I had gone into the forest. He appeared and killed the demon to protect me.”

Joinng her on the ground Jono gently touched her knee again, he wasnt sure why but he felt that this woman needed a comforting touch and she was the first person who hadnt tred to kill her so he felt very protective of her. He wanted to take away the pain she seemed to be holdng but he didnt know how to.

As she talked about her father he nodded. "Your father cared for you"

Ariel looks at him and looks at him with sad eyes. She looks at her hands as they turn into fists and she starts crying. She says, “Yes he did and it was obvious he was the only one.” She wiped her eyes and tried to make them stop coming as more tears started to form. She looked away from Jono not wanting him to see her cry like this.

When she began crying, Jono got worried and pulled her gently to him and hugged her close lke he had seen others do to upset people in the village. He gently stroked her soft hair. 'Ohh Lady Ariel, many more love you I am sure, I will protect you I promise"

Ariel cries on his shoulder and clings to him like a frighten child. Her body tense as all the pain she has held inside spills out against him. The candle light flames go from orange to black as though the more she cried the more her pain was released onto the whole world. The shadows of the shrine twisted and turned as shapes were becoming figures of her past.

Not knowing fully what to do continued to hold her. Stroking her hair and trying to help her through the pain. He noticed the Candles turning to black and the shadows, but it didnt frighten him and he was sure that they were just shadows and therefore could not hurt them. But to be safe he ligtly lifted her head to show them to here. "I will protect you ,but they are just shadows right?"

Ariel looks at the shadows and says, "I don't know what they are." She blushes some as she was not use to someone holding her like this. The shadow say in eerie union, "Love child's pain will grow. No one will know. Her burning trait will seal everyone's fate. As the prophecy foretold. Since the days of old."

Continuing to hold her tight he rubbed her arms softly. When the shawdows spoke Jono continued to hold her glaring at them then whispering to her "I will lay my life down for you nothing will harm you if I can help it I promise"

Ariel looks at him unsure what to say to him. The shadows looks at the two of them. They say in eerie union, “You rape child, misunderstand…The girl chooses the fate of the village by the hidden emotions inside her.” Ariel says, “I don’t understand either…” The shadows look at her with red glowing eyes.

Jono blinked not knowing to which one they were talking too for he was a rapechild as well, but it had to be her why would they care about him? He was a newbie in the village and wasnt worth anything. Then he recalled what they said "girl" so it was defeintly her, but why? He contnued to hold Ariel then looked up at the shadows. "Please explain it better too her, its only fair"

The shadows say in a calm voice, “You Ariel are the sole person who dares to speak the horrible truth of the village. You alone know the horrible things they have done to your family and still seemingly do not bare any hate towards the village. Yet what have you ever gotten in return? A life meant to be spent entirely alone. Never meant to know the love your crave.” They look at Jono and say, “You are much like her and yet you have more freedom than she will ever have.”

Jono held Ariel protectivly closer when the shadows continued to talk. He lightly kissed her head, he wasnt sure why he did but he felt the need to show the shadows that he would be there for Ariel. When the shadows turned to him he swallowed. "How can she be freer? I want Ariel not to hurt anymore" He held her close "Is there anything I can do to help her not hurt anymore?"

The shadows look at him a moment and say, “There is nothing you can do to set her free.” Ariel looks at the shadows as they look back at her. She asks, “Why was this judgment prophesied? What is so special about me?” The shadows sigh and say, “Inside your body is a hidden power that can be used a destructive weapon or as an instrument of healing. Your true feelings active that power and the people that are around you get judged as to where their soul lies, Heaven or Hell.”

Glaring at the Shadows Jono continued to hold Ariel. He listened to them and what they said. He still wanted to save Ariel, like she had saved him but now it looked hopeless. He sighed and looked up at them again "What happens if she does fall in love" He asked only half thinking he was grasping at straws trying to ssave her. As they continued. He spoke up again. "And if she only uses it for healing? She healed me are you saying that is a bad thing?"

The shadows look at him and says, “If she falls in love, the fire that burns inside her will turn from black to blue. Then that power will only be used for healing and protecting. Right now her flames are as black as coal. That means that all she has been feeling for years is hatred for normal humans.” Ariel looks at Jono unable to think because of what he had asked them.

Jono himself had no idea why he had asked that but he had and now he knew but what did it mean. He was bad there wassomething in him that made him unloveable he had been told that his whole life but all he wanted was to feel love. He saw Ariel looking at him. He shrugged "I dont know why I asked that im sorry" He softly whispered in her ear. Jono blinked again at the shadows still holding Ariel as if he could protect her from them. "What do you mean normal humans?"

The shadows look at him and say, “Not every man or woman can be a holy priest or priestess. You are either born to be one or you are not. These unlucky few who are born to be a holy figure are not allowed to fall in love and have families. They are not allowed to feel the happiness normal people are allowed to feel.” They look at the still speechless Ariel. They say, “Humans have it in their heads that love weakens spiritual powers. But they are wrong. Love gives all humans the power to keep fighting.”

Jono shook his head not likeing what he was hearing, Ariel deserved to be loved, she deserved it and although he himself had never felt it he had seen it and it looked good. Again he spoke to the shadows "What would happen if she did fall in love and had a family" He asked again only curious for he had heard someone say that you couldnt help who you fell in love with.

[Guest]

The shadows look at him and say, “Her powers will increase ten fold and she won’t be a threat to the people around her.” Ariel looks at them and says, “You know that won’t happen. The people around here won’t risk it.” The shadows say as the disappear back from once they came, “Then if you don’t, you will always be a threat to the very people you protect.” Everything turns back to normal and she gets out of Jono’s arms slowly.

Jono nodded well least now he knew. But it seemed that Ariel was too much like him, never belivign that she would be in love or be loved, but they had just met, many would say he only asked those quetions because of what she had done, rescuring him and healing him.

When they disaperred Jono slowly let Ariel out his arms then bowed hs head. "I am sorry I asked those questions, it wasnt my place I was just curious"

Ariel looks at him and just nods before saying, “You need to begin your training as my guardian. And I need to get back to my duties.” Her voice had no emotion in it at all as she opened the door for them so they could leave. She shuts the door behind them after Jono step out. She guided him to the training ground to learn new fighting styles and how to protect her. She then leaves him alone to train as she went to do her priestess duties.

Taking the clue that Ariel was done with the topic Jono kept silent and nodded when she gave her instructons he practised and pacised. For hours the sun beating down on him but he wanted it to be prefect so he could properally protect her. He was sure he was getting better and looked around to see if there was anyone that could help him by showing him things he was doing right or things he needed to work on more. Also for Ariel to see what she was up to as well. He was suppose to be protecting her and he wanted to make sure she was alright, he figured that she would be alright in the village but he wanted to make sure but he didnt leave the circle

The Instructors come and help him correct his stance. One sees the worry in his eyes and says, "Ariel is fine Jono. I am sure that if she was in trouble you would sense it. Now concentrate on the fight." The instructor liked him because he seemed to have an instinct to protect Ariel. Hours later Ariel comes to the training grounds to take him back to his own hut. She sits down and watches him train a while.
