Isabelle was almost, almost impressed with Magnus very responsibly putting the baby down on the changing table and getting a diaper out, that was, until, he opened his mouth. "Really? You don't know how to put a diaper on? Okay, look, I'll show you once. Maybe twice if you catch me in a good mood. The rest is up to your memory, or Alec." She took his spot and held the diaper. "Okay, you start, like so." She put the diaper on Skylar no problem. Max used to struggle, Skylar just stared, or made a face. "What else don't you know how to do? You know Alec won't be able to stay here twenty four-seven."

"Well, no. When have I ever needed to?" Magnus asked, shrugging. He had done many things, but put a diaper on a baby was not one of them. He was really hoping Alec could help him if he forgot. He payed close attention as Isabelle put the diaper on, raising an eyebrow. "You have this down to an art don't you?" he asked, running a hand through his hair. He walked to the dresser and opened a few drawers, pulling out a tiny blue shirt and black pants, snickering slightly at the size of them. He was sure he had never been that small. "I finally get a model to dress up. Since Alec won't let me" he gave a fake pout before carrying the clothing back to Skylar and Isabelle.

"It's not really an art. Max, don't tell him, wore diapers a little longer than most kids do, just a little longer. Those trainer underwear don't count," Isabelle said, not that Magnus had met Max yet, and probably wouldn't have a conversation with him that brought up the point of him and his diaper-time. "You'll figure it out in no time. You'll have to, anyway." There was a possibility that Alec would be going back to his old schedule, except they'd work hard to give him more time at Magnus' place. He still needed to keep appearances with the Clave so they didn't suspect anything.

"Ah" Magnus nodded, understanding. He wasn't exactly planning on bringing up diapers with Max, so there were no worries there. He didn't even know what the kid looked like yet. "Yeah, not something I'm looking forward to. I can't wait for him to be out of the puking and diapers stage" he said, putting the clothes on Skylar carefully, well aware of how delicate babies were. Once finished dressing his son up, he picked him up carefully. "Mm'kay, how does he look?" Magnus asked, raising an eyebrow at Isabelle. He was pretty sure that his son looked adorable.

Isabelle scrunched her face up to make Skylar laugh. "He's so cute," she exclaimed, using a voice a tad higher than usual. "Yeah, you might as well use less expensive clothes or something so he doesn't puke or ruin what he's wearing now. Dressing up babies is cute and all, but there's almost no point in it unless you're entering them in a contest. Family outings or something is always worth dressing them up too." Other than that, babies couldn't appreciate fashion, and therefore were careless with the clothes. She'd have to buy some regular clothes for Skylar so he didn't ruin all the cooler ones. "By the way, they usually puke after eating and burping them, dribble doesn't count as puke, but happens four times as often. Ahh, diapers are right after food too, might wanna watch Alec on that for the first few times." Magnus would probably wear gloves doing that, she'd bet.

Magnus laughed slightly at Isabelle's face. "I might want to put my own expensive clothes away for a while. If that's possible" he said, sighing lightly. "Oh, great. I'm looking forward to that" he said to her advice, grimacing slightly. He turned and started heading back to his bedroom, expecting Isabelle to follow him. He headed into his room, smiling at the sight of Alec lying down on his bed. He looked tired. As he looked him over, noting the slimmer form of him, he couldn't help but think about how nice it would be to actually be able to be right against him. It just wasn't the same when he hugged him and his stomach got in the way.

"Oh, it's possible. Hey, I bet Alec has some clothes of his you could use. They might be a little small, but it's be that sexy kind of small where you show your midriff." Did Magnus like his clothes holey? Probably not, but Alec's clothes were as plain as plain got. With the Lightwoods, anyway. Or maybe within the entire Clave. Alec was pretty plain and his clothes were beyond faded when compared to anyone in Idris. At least the other Shadowhunters had a fashion sense, whether or not it was part of their culture or not.

Alec looked at the return of Magnus, smiling. Isabelle was right behind him, looking cheerful. She'd been looking very cheerful for a while. Her face might start hurting, and maybe she'd start complaining about wrinkles.

Magnus pictured himself wearing Alec's clothes, and had to hold back a laugh. "I bet he'd like it" he commented, mostly teasing. He was pretty sure Alec's taste in clothes might kill him after wearing them for an hour or so though. He sat down on the edge of his bed, cradling Skylar carefully. "Do you want to go to sleep Alec?" he asked, in code for 'do you want me to kick your family out?'. He was sure he would offend at least one person if he actually said that. He wasn't sure Isabelle would be as offended as Maryse. She seemed to be liking him better anyways, so he didn't want to ruin his progress.

[Nyako-Chan]

"Um, sure, I guess," Alec said, catching the message last minute. He'd like some rest, he didn't know if he'd fall asleep right away, but Magnus must be annoyed by now of their company. Knowing him, he just wanted the three of them together for now. When the two parents got confused, they'd be begging them to come back, and then they'd never leave. This process could repeat a few times, Alec would bet. Was it a bad omen that he could see it already?

Magnus nodded and turned to the two women in his house. "Alright, you heard him. He's tired. Clear out people" he said, flicking some of his hair to the side. "Thanks for coming to see. And for the help" he said, smiling and glancing down at Skylar in his arms. His little family. He would be happy to have Alec and Skylar alone soon. Just the three of them sounded nice. He wasn't sure how Isabelle and Maryse would take to being kicked out so soon, but he was sure they would understand that Alec was tired. He had just given birth.

[Nyako-Chan]

"Fine, fine," Isabelle grumbled, rolling her eyes. Magnus was just so obvious with what he wanted to do, and Alec, whether or not he knew it, was helping Magnus get what he wanted. "Make sure he gets some sleep," she told him, just in case Magnus had other ideas.

"Get plenty of rest, Alec, dear," Maryse instructed, glancing at Magnus. He had better let Alec sleep. Alec wasn't up for anything rambunctious. She waited until Alec nodded wearily, offering a small smile. "Good. I'll see you two soon enough. We'll check in, but we'll call first. Any questions, don't be afraid to ask." She walked out the door after her daughter. Isabelle was chattering happily how she couldn't wait to have children herself one day.

Magnus grinned slightly at Isabelle. He wasn't going to do anything quite yet. He knew Alec needed plenty of rest, and he would let him have it. "Of course. I'm not going to deprive him of sleep when he needs it the most" he said, flicking his hair aside. He nodded as Maryse said her departing words, and then they were alone. He sighed, hanging his head. "God, I feel as tired as I figure you are. And I didn't do anything" he said, smiling slightly. He was happy to be alone with Alec now, and it seemed as if Skylar had fallen asleep. "Hmm, I guess I'll put him to sleep. I'll be right back" he said, getting to his feet and walking into the other room, putting their son down in the crib and covering him with a blanket, making him comfortable before going back and lying down on his side next to Alec.

"Day one has been easy," Alec commented when Magnus came back to him. "Be prepared to wake up in the middle of the night to crying." All babies did that, even if Skylar was a little quiet now, all babies cried at some ungodly hour. "Mom had those old baby-radios so she could hear Isabelle and I when we cried. We might want those, even if we're just down the hall." He moved close to Magnus, finally able to sleep any side he wanted and feel comfortable. He was finally able to stay as close as he could to him.

"Great. I'm looking forward to that. It might give me a heart attack though. . . not what I'm used to hearing in the middle of the night. That's horror movie stuff to me" Magnus sighed, slipping his arms around Alec and pulling him close. It was closer than they had been in months, and he loved it. It was such a nice feeling, even if Alec still was a little, dare he say it, fat. It would be gone soon enough, he knew, replaced by that hard-packed muscle. And then all signs of pregnancy would be gone, except for Skylar. "Mmm, we can get one if you want" he said, relaxing his body completely. He had no desire to have a baby moniter blaring the crying into their room when they could clearly hear it from down the hall, but he would if Alec wanted to. But he couldn't guarantee that he wouldn't break it in the heat of the moment.

[Nyako-Chan]

"It comes as less of a surprise when you're expecting it maybe every other night or so," Alec said, having gotten used to waking up to Max crying. He'd have to adjust his internal senses not to go into fighting mode completely in the dead of night when their baby started crying. "They usually wake up because they're hungry, or need a diaper changing or something," Alec said, "and they get lonely too. It took months to figure out if we put nice, quiet music in Max's room he'd cry less for the purposes of being scared or lonely." Max still listened to music while going to sleep. He kept it quiet, but he didn't listen to baby lullabies anymore.

"I guess I'll have to be expecting it then" Magnus decided, wodering if it was actually going to be as bad as they all said. Babies cried for a lot, didn't they? He was starting to wonder what wouldn't make Skylar cry. "I get lonely at night sometimes too. But I don't think I'm going to have to worry about that if you're moving in soon" he kissed Alec's cheek, smiling. He was excited for when he actually would move in, and then they would get married, he would turn Alec immortal, and they would live happily ever after. At least that was how it played out in his head. A very censored version.

"Yeah, that won't be that much farther from now," Alec said, leaning against Magnus. "How many months from birth did we say?" he asked, remembering something like after he'd at least slimmed back down to muscle. He was going to work hard to balance Shadowhunter duties, family duties, and training duties, which were technically just an add on of Shadowhunter duties. When Skylar and Magnus were taken care of after Shadowhunter duties, training. Training wouldn't be an extreme forever. Just until he got fit again. Then it'd be one less chore and he'd just have to manage between his job and his cover, and his family.

"Mhmm" Magnus hummed, closing his eyes. He really was quite comfortable, and it seemed that Alec was too. "We said a few. . . so. . . March?" he suggested. He liked March. It just started to get nice near the end, and it was still cool enough. He preferred to avoid hot summer weather. It wasn't ideal for him. It did hell on his hair. "I'm looking forward to it. I love you" he murmured, kissing Alec's forehead lightly. His fingers played up and down his back lightly, just for something to do. He couldn't believe that in around three months he would be married to the man he adored.

"I like March," Alec replied, since it was one of the months that started to warm up. March usually wasn't too cold. February and January made him shake though. "I can't wait. I love you too," he told Magnus, smiling at him, kissing what he could reach. He wondered what else Magnus was thinking. Alec couldn't blame him for wanting sex soon. Probably the first time Maryse or Isabelle offered to take Skylar off their hands for the afternoon. Alec just had to reward Magnus for being almost completely sexually deprived the entire time. Alec, admittedly, wanted Magnus too. So maybe he was a tad deprived too.

"Me too" Magnus agreed, voicing his previous thoughts. March was always nice. Just when all the snow started to melt. And it got warmer than the freezing weather that he knew Alec hated. Although it was always nice curling up on his couch or in his bed to keep his lover warm. Cold winter days were the best for cuddling up somewhere and just relaxing, with a hot drink and some blankets. He was purposely keeping his mind away from sex as much as he could, knowing that Alec was way too tired, and not in very good condition. He would be fine in a few days, but not yet.

"I'm going to fall asleep," Alec commented, noting how his mind was fading in and out of the conversation as he rested against Magnus' warm body. "Are you going to sleep too?" he asked, wondering if Magnus had something else to attend to, or maybe he wanted to watch T.V. "If you go, wait until I fall asleep?" he inquired of him, heavy lids drooping again. He yawned. Alec loved falling asleep with Magnus' warmth covering him, he didn't doubt he'd fall asleep regardless, but it felt safer and far more comfortable than going to sleep alone.

"Okay. Get some rest, babe" Magnus said softly, sighing lightly into his soft black hair. "I'm staying here. I'm going to sleep" he smiled at the sound of Alec's yawn. He was obviously just so tired. He needed his rest. If Skylar started to cry while they were asleep, he would get up and stop him. He wouldn't want Alec to do it when he was supposed to be sleeping. He himself was in perfect condition, other than being a little sex deprived, whereas Alec had just given birth. It was obvious as to who should be getting up.

Alec drifted off before he could hear Magnus' reply. As long as he fell asleep, he could feel Magnus' heat seeping into him, drawing sleep to him. He was never a heavy sleeper, or a very deep sleeper. He'd wake up to every little sound, a bit paranoid, in the Institute, but in Magnus' place, all he had to do was set his internal alarm clock and he was up. He always slept well in Magnus' arms, in his bed.

Alec awoke to a noise he hadn't heard since Max was old enough to get up on his own and do everything by himself. He looked around blearily, remembering what was making the source of the sound. "Skylar," he told himself, making reality real again.

Magnus stayed up for a bit longer, enjoying the feeling of Alec pressed against him more than he had been in months. He fell asleep eventually, curled up next to his fiance. It felt like he was only asleep for ten minutes when he was jolted awake, heart pounding as he started, instantly on alert before he heard Alec's voice. "Oh. . . right. . . I'll get him. You go back to sleep" he said, sighing. He reluctantly pulled his arms away from Alec and swung his legs over the side of the bed. He had fallen asleep in his clothes, and he made a mental note to change after he got back to bed.

Would Magnus know what to do? Or figure out how to find out what was wrong with the baby? What time was it anyway? Alec wondered all this groggily as he laid back down and went to sleep, inhaling Maguns' lingering scent and the remainder of the heat. He half listened in case Magnus needed his help with something. He felt better than before, but more sleep never hurt. He was going to enjoy his few days left of rest before he went back to Shadowhunting.
