Alec looked to Magnus returning. "Um, is that everything? I mean, she didn't forget anything in the car? She drives like a maniac when she remembers to do something when she's in the car. Wouldn't want her hurting herself trying to get back here." Alec had been in the car with her on the several occasions she recalled something seemingly important and drove where ever furiously, getting plenty of middle fingers and irritated honks. Isabelle walked in at the end of his sentence and didn't know to glare or not.

"What about me hurting myself?" she asked, daring him to say something she'd disagree with.

"Er, nothing. We were talking about Mom. Wouldn't want her to hurt herself in her...um, rapidly increasing age..." His mom would had smacked him for that. It satisfied Isabelle to hear so, and did not hit him. She smiled and turned to look at the things transported inside. She did a quick count and decided they were all there.

"Okay! I'm going! See you later, guys!" She blew a kiss to sleeping Skylar and walked out the door.

It wasn't surprising to Magnus that Isabelle drove like a madman when she remembered something she had to do. He had been slightly worried for Skylar to be in the car with her at all. "Don't worry, I got everything" he promised, glancing up as she walked in. He raised his eyebrows at the lie Alec came up with, which he hadn't been expecting. Alec's lies were always rather transparent. He raised his hand in a lazy farewell, before turning to his family. "Nice save there, muffin" he grinned, hoping Isabelle wouldn't accidentally let something slip to Maryse about what Alec had said. Or about the marks on his lover's neck. He'd like to keep his lover intact, and not have an angry mother after him again.

"Isabelle likes hearing that Mom is getting older, sometimes," Alec said, "I think it's some sort of self esteem thing?" Izzy complained she was getting old on and off, even though Alec was older than her. Every day Isabelle would spend twnety minutes or more in the bathroom checking for wrinkles and or grey hairs. Their mother didn't have any grey hairs yet. Robert was getting there. His hair was very slowly, hardly noticably thinning. Alec looked at sleeping Skylar, who hadn't stirred a bit. "She must have worn him out. I wonder if he was fed?" Nice and quiet without Isabelle now. All the stuff she'd brought, Magnus would know how to use it and make it look good.

Magnus let out a short laugh, shaking his head. "That makes no sense. As Maryse gets older, so does she" he pointed out, shifting closer to Alec and slipping an arm around his waist. "I'm just glad I stopped aging before I had to deal with the side effects of old age. I don't do wrinkles. Or gray hair. It doesn't suit me" he shook his head, grimacing at the thought. He looked down at their sleeping baby, who looked completely exausted. "I don't know. Better not ask her until she's home. Texting and driving at the same time is dangerous. I don't trust her with that" and he knew for a fact she wouldn't wait until she got home to answer her phone.

"She's actually very good at it," Alec muttered, "but she gets other drivers on the road mad." She cut people off normally, but on the cell it was a tad worse. "We could wait until he wakes up to try anyway." They shouldn't wake up Skylar just to see if he wanted to eat or not. For all he knew, Skylar would be cranky if he woke him up to feed him. "We could let him rest in his crib." Alec stood up, walking to the baby room and setting the baby down in the barred crib. He turned the music on softly for him and walked out, leaving the door open a crack. "So, um," he looked to the bags, "I'm going to check what she got him and make sure it isn't...." He'd been in a store once where the baby clothes they sold had messages only adults would know ((COUGH SPENCERS COUGHCOUGH))

Magnus could see how that would work. Isabelle could be a rather. . . agressive person. He could see her having a case of road rage. He nodded his agreement to Alec's suggestion. "Yeah. If he's hungry, he'll drink. If not, then he won't. Simple as that. See, this parenting thing is easy" he grinned. He moved his arm as his fiance got up to put Skylar to bed. He still didn't understand why everybody was warning him about parenting. Even the few friends he had told. The ones he knew he could trust. "Isn't what?" he asked, raising an eyebrow and grinning. He knew exactly what Alec was thinking, and he wouldn't put it past Isabelle. He would approve, his lover, not so much.

Alec rolled his eyes. Magnus knew hat he meant, Alec could tell from that grin and eyebrow raise meaning he just wanted to hear Alec say it aloud. "Dad is going to be...hmm. For lack of better words right now, ticked. Maybe." He hadn't yet seen his father's reaction to the baby, but then again, had Skylar even been in the Institute yet? Alec didn't know if she'd brought him there for a while or just gone straight shopping. Maybe that was how she had convinced Robert to give her a credit card. "We're going to have to get her butt out of trouble if she does get in to it. We'll bring Skylar over in some of the clothes or something and let my dad see, and he'll say if it was worth it or not."

Magnus laughed when his question was avoided, the only response being an eye roll. "Maybe" he agreed, getting to his feet and joining his fiance. Most people didn't like their children taking their money and going out shopping. If Skylar ever wanted to do that when he was older, he could go right ahead. Along with being able to get money with a snap of his fingers, being the High Warlock of Brooklyn payed well. "That always works. Babies in adorable clothes are always good to soften people up" he was sure at one point or another it would be used against him.

"Hmm, I get to start working out again starting tomorrow, don't I?" Alec asked, since as of today he'd been allowed to get some more movement in, instead of laying around, bored. "I don't wanna sit around here all day. I mean, I'll go out early, come back, hang around here for some time, and maybe, not likely, but maybe go back to working out? Am I allowed to do that?" Was he allowed by Magnus and maybe Isabelle to get to building up his Shadowhunter strength, stamina, and physique again? Magnus' opinion mattered more than Isabelle's, but if Izzy agreed, she'd train with him too, maybe.

Magnus sighed heavily, looking Alec over once. He seemed stable enough, but he was going to get tired easily now, no matter what. It would take him a lot of work to get back to the condition he was in before. "I suppose. But you can't do too much or you'll hurt yourself. You don't have the abnormal endurance you used to have. You're going to have to work up to it. If I get a phone call from Isabelle telling me you passed out, I am NOT going to be a happy warlock" he said firmly, putting his hands on his hips. He was going to be strict about this, only because he knew Alec was extremely eager to get back in shape, but that was how people hurt themselves. Although most people weren't engaged to High Warlocks.

[Nyako-Chan]

"Oh, okay. I'll try to avoid phone calls then," Alec said, nodding. He'd know his limit since he was highly aware when he got tired now. Before, he'd continuously push himself, telling himself just a little more and he'd stop for a while. He'd definitely know when to stop now. He'd build his strength up for sure. "I'll start off with an hour, and work it up from there." Minimum would be staying at a time for a week before upping it one or two. "When you have appointments to take care of I'll take Skylar with me and Isabelle might want to watch him or something." He didn't want to make Magnus be the stay home parent. It wasn't fair for his half of the work.

"No texts either" Magnus added, just in case Alec tried to find a way around that. "Or Iratzes. No accidents at all. Because you know, I do notice when you've had a Mark drawn" he tended to check Alec out as often as possible. It was almost impossible for him to hide that he had had to draw a healing rune for some reason or another. He was going to be worried about Alec for the first few weeks, until he was sure he would be fine. But when he was on duty for the Clave, he was always worried. Shadowhunters couldn't always handle the demons they killed. "All right. Or we could call Jocelyn up. She doesn't know yet, does she?" he asked, tilting his head to the side. As far as he knew, neither she nor Luke knew about Skylar yet.

"Yeah, no texts either," Alec promised. "Err, I don't think so? We'll get in touch with her before we need her, just to avoid springing this on her when we really need her." It wouldn't be fair to call her up one day, in a rush because they had no one to turn to, and then ask, beg, plead, her to watch the baby she never knew they had. "We'll get around to it, maybe within the month or something. I don't know when I'll be back on duty." Another reason he needed to get back in shape. Secrecy and illusion was important to keep cover. "I'm pretty sure she'd see this as okay. I wonder what Luke will think?" Luke might think it was cool, because Magnus, a fellow downworlder to him, had had a child with a Shadowhunter, what he formerly was. Luke liked it when Shadowhunter and downworlder got along well.

Magnus was doubtful that Alec would manage to keep from even pushing himself slightly when he started to get tired. He was too stubborn to actually listen. But hopefully somebody would be there to make him stop or something. "I'm sure Luke will be happy for us. Seeing as he's a Downworlder in love with a Shadowhunter, he supports us already. I'm sure Jocelyn will be happy for us too" he shrugged. He was pretty sure of his answers, since he had known both of them for a long time. All the way back to the Uprising.

Alec wondered if the couple was young enough to still have children. Would they want children still? Clary was gone, maybe they would want the chance to have a child of their own, with Luke as the father this time. What would the results of this breed be? Half werewolf or something? Would the child be able to accept runes? If they had a kid, Skylar would have someone to play with, just like Alec had had Jace to play with as a child. "Either way, it's not good to spring this on them last second when we really need them. We'd need to make sure they aren't busy either." They had back up people to help, but what if those back up people were busy too? Like, an entire Clave meeting that required Magnus to go too? Did Magnus have more friends he could absolutely trust?

Magnus hadn't contacted either of them since Clary died, other than calling to give his regrets on the whole thing, leaving out that he had a big part in the little ginger's death. "I know. I'll call them up soon. Or we could invite them over, and get them aquainted with Skylar or something. I'm sure it's the least we can do if we expect them to babysit. And they'd be another person to watch Skylar if we need a night off" that was sounding good to him. He would be glad to have a night with Alec every once and a while. Not that he didn't want to be around his son, but they still needed their time.

"Yeah, that sounds good," Alec agreed liking that the had so many people who could help them if they asked. They'd have to find a way to repay them. Thank you's didn't feel enough sometimes, and sometimes they weren't enough. To ask someone else to take a night off or two (if it was bad enough ((Clave situation)) so they could do whatever needed to be done. Alec really only wanted to ask people if they offered or if he and Magnus were desperate enough. He didn't want to bug someone just because one of them was horny. Good parents did not send their children off to be with another person while they did something that they wanted and didn't do much to help others.

Magnus was glad they had some people they would be able to depend on if they needed it, but he knew once Skylar was a bit older, they wouldn't have to have a night alone to have sex. A simple silencing charm, once they didn't need to listen for him at night, and they would all be fine. "Yeah. It'll all work out well" he nodded, smiling slightly. And he had been warned countless times about how bad it would be. He still didn't think it would be as bad as they all said. "You were all blowing this whole thing out of proportion" he poked Alec in the side lightly.

"What? Child raising? Um, no, we weren't, but Skylar does seem well tempered for now. He'll go through the rejection of no-phase, and the mine-phase. All kids do, to a degree." Isabelle and him had gotten in plenty of fights as children when she was in a mine phase, and there had been a lot of shouting between their mother and her when she was in her no-rejecting phase. Isabelle had refused no as an answer. Alec had probably acted like that at some point, but he didn't remember it, and that was probably a good thing. "We've only had him around for a week anyway. Parenting is all responsibility, like, not leaving the baby in the car, or not letting him reach things and hurting himself. Things like that. You have to pay attention to him loads."

Magnus raised an eyebrow when he was told that he was wrong. It had been a long time since he was a kid, but he still remembered it well. "I never did" he shrugged, glancing away. He didn't talk about his childhood, but it was true. He never had, but that was because he was terrified of his parents, even if he tried to love them. "Responsibility is easy though. I am a mature, responsible adult, and I still think this is going to be easy as hell" he slipped an arm around Alec's waist. As long as Alec didn't abandon him or something, he knew he would get through this fine.

"Okaaay, if that'll help you get through this, go ahead and keep telling yourself that," Alec told him, shrugging. Magnus could be responsible and mature, but he was also childish and immature at times. As long as he kept those traits away from raising the child, then it'd be fine. "We've only woken up a couple times where Skylar's been crying at night. It was so much worse with Max." Skylar hadn't done much, and Alec was a little concerned. Was it possible that children, no, babies, were this well behaved? The doctor they had gone to would tell them if anything was wrong when they took him in for check ups and such.

Magnus stuck his tongue out, furthermore proving his slight childishness. He had yet to grow up completely, even being as old as he was. "Well Skylar's quiet then. That's a good thing" he shrugged, finding the answer pretty simple. Some children never stopped crying, others barely ever cried. Everyone was different. He didn't think there was anything wrong, although he had never raised a child. Children weren't exactly his thing. He tended to avoid them like the plague, until now. Only his own child. He wasn't going to go crazy over everybody else's babies now that he had one of his own. He didn't understand how everybody loved them so much. Your own child, understandable, but not somebody elses.

"Yeah." Alec had never been overly fond of small children. His brother was a forced exception, though he had to admit, he definitely wasn't fond of him when he had to take care of him. Babies were messy, Skylar was kind of messy. Bathroom messes and such, unavoidable, food wise? He wasn't that bad with his food. He spit it up once in a while, and burping was on the occasion messy too, but at least Skylar didn't tip his bowl of food over yet, or figure how to pick the food up in his hands and toss it around. Hopefully he wouldn't toss the stuff, but still.

Magnus had avoided being puked on so far, but he knew it was only a matter of time. All he knew was that it smelled bad, and looked gross. He could clean it up in a second, which was a bonus. Most people couldn't do that. The warlock nuzzled into Alec's neck lightly, giving a ligh sigh. "Why are we just standing here?" he asked, glancing up at his Shadowhunter. Alec had looked over the clothes Isabelle had bought, and now they were both just standing around. Dimly he could hear the video game still telling the world that he had won, and he made a mental note to turn that off. Eventually.

"I'm not sure. I don't even know what to do with the stuff she brought," Alec said, making a face. Isabelle needed to calm down sometimes, especially with shopping. It was just clothes, though Magnus and Izzy would both shout in outrage if he said that aloud. "What would you like to do?" he asked, brushing hair out of his eyes with a sweep of his fingers. They had their baby back, and now they had nothing to do. Skylar was sleeping for the meantime, and when he woke up Alec would figure out if he needed to eat or anything.
