"Sure, it'd kill time." Not that he'd ever had the patience or care to watch those on T.V. They were cute, he supposed, a lot of them were either cartoons or some romance special to help people get in the mood or something. He was pretty sure those ones were on at night. Jace used to like watching those. Isabelle would watch the ones that were tear jerkers. Alec, not caring much for the straight of it all, would ignore them if they had dragged him over to watch and cry or watch and get horny. "There's probably quite a few on, so we probably won't get bored with one." Some of them were amusing anyway. Except for the walking snowman. That one got old.

Magnus nodded and summoned himself the remote, flicking on the tv and hitting the guide button. He scrolled through the things that were playing, skimming over the titles quickly. "Yeah. Christmas always has all the specials playing. It's great. Hey look! Rudolph!" he laughed, hitting the button. The old Rudolph always made him laugh, with the crappy graphics and funny voices. It was part of the way through, but he didn't care. It didn't make a difference unless it was near the end, so it was all good.

"I remember this," Alec said, looking at the old show that he had seen as a kid. His mother had introduced him to this show, Isabelle had sat by his side watching in awe. He had secretly thought it was amazing, and it was sad that the red nosed deer was left out because he was different. The way people left him out had scared Alec to a degree. Different was the message that meant it was bad, and he knew he was different. Would he be treated like that? he had wondered. Rudolph was cute still, the reindeer running around in the snow, trying to play games that really didn't look that appealing. Alec liked snow though, maybe it was just the company the deer wanted to play with that didn't make it look appealing.

"I think everybody in North America has seen this" Magnus said, including Shadowhunters and Downworlders in this. Everybody knew about Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, who nobody liked because his nose lit up. Magnus personally thought it was because he had some weird ass German name, but whatever. "I've seen this movie probably fifty times. I have nothing better to do around Christmas time" he shrugged, fine with that fact, but now that he knew what it was like to spend it with family, he wasn't going back.

"So you watch this every Christmas and then some?" Alec asked if Magnus had seen it so many times. Personally, he could handle it every, maybe two years minimum. He wasn't a very big fan of some of the winter movies. They all kind of had the same plot, and a lot of it was something about saving Christmas. A lot of little kids got a huge kick out of talking creatures, and dances, and the songs all of them had. They had one or two songs, or some of them were weird musicals. Talking animals didn't both Alec, it was the singing ones that got to him eventually though.

Magnus had to think about how pathetic that sounded. "Yeah, pretty much. But they're on for the whole Christmas season, so I'm not that much of a loser. I just lacked anything to do on Christmas other than party. But before or after said parties, I had to kill some time" he lifted one shoulder in a lazy shrug, watching the reindeer on screen, who looked rather depressed. He didn't think it was possible for reindeer to be depressed, but whatever. It was a kids movie anyways.

"Isabelle shops before the holiday, why didn't you do that?" Alec asked, because his sister and his fiance were alike in various aspects that he sometimes knew what to expect. Magnus didn't have downworlder friends he could hang around with on Christmas? Just to get out and have fun or something. Maybe he went to bars on Christmas for the guys who didn't have any place welcome to go to. He'd pull one nighters with them and kick them out the next day in the snow. That seemed like a Magnus thing to do.

"Christmas shoppers are insane. I would end up getting mobbed or something. It has happened" Magnus nodded wisely, knowing better than to brave the Christmas crowds, warlock or not. "Everybody's normally busy with their families, but I often head to parties. Or hold parties. Some people even leave their families on Christmas to come to my parties" he grinned, proud not that he could tear families apart like that, but that his parties were that amazing, that people would choose the party over their family.

"Parties are fun on holidays for what reason exactly? People would want to be with the rfamilies. Err, the ones who didn't go to your party, that is," Alec said, knowing people would like spending quality time with the family that usually wasn't as united as it should be, unless on holidays that gave people work off. Shadowhunters worked around the clock, they usually didn't get vacations, or taking the holidays off to be with complete family. Alec usually worked on Christmas these days, or his parents did, and Isabelle almost always was free and got to party.

"Parties are fun no matter the time of year, and holidays just add even more festivity to it" Magnus explained, as if this was the most simple thing ever. To him it was, but he knew Alec didn't exactly attend parties. He couldn't help but wonder if his party was the first Alec had attended. And even then he hadn't been there to enjoy himself, it had been for the little ginger twit. Not that he wasn't thankful to said twit for introducing him to Alec. Strange that it would be such an annoying little girl to introduce him to his soulmate.

"Ehh, Isabelle says that too. I don't see the appeal in them. You don't even know all the people that attend. You just invite anyone and everyone. That's too confusing," Alec said, who couldn't even remember the names of people he met maybe a day or two ago sometimes. He could remember faces sometimes, but usually never names until he knew them well enough over a month or so. He just wasn't a people person, and that wasn't entirely for the reason that he somewhat antisocial, or just socially awkward. "Parties are too...rambunctious. That's not my kind of thing." Too much going on, too much chaos, no order, for the most part.

"That's half the fun in it though! Meeting new people!" shock shouldn't have been something Magnus felt at the moment, but sometimes he just couldn't help it at some of the things Alec said, antisocial or not. He grinned at the next part though, his mind already in the gutter. "I know, rambunctious activities are normally my forte, but I do know of a certain rambunctious activity that you quite enjoy" he smirked, not sure how such a conversation could be held while such an innocent cartoon was on. Although this was him.

"Um, meeting new people, remembering them is such a task," Alec said, shaking his head. Too many people to meet in life. Magnus must know loads of them. "I- er, yes, yes I do enjoy that," Alec replied, not sure whether or not if he should just stare at their son, or pretend to be amused by the T.V. show. Looking at the floor was too obvious, not that looking at something with a red face was any less obvious. "You like loud activities," he said, looking back to Magnus. He meant it in a couple ways, now that he thought about it.

Magnus shifted slightly, looking to the ceiling before back to Alec. "Well. . . nobody said you had to remember them" he pointed out, knowing it was a bit harsh to not remember the people he met at his parties, but he didn't care. He let out a short laugh when Alec admitted to liking that. "There's no way you could have denied that one. Your body says it all" he grinned, watching the red streak across his face. "Oh yes. Loud activities suit me so much better than quiet" he agreed. He disliked being quiet, unless he was sleeping.

Alec, being Magnus' opposite in quite a few ways -though Izzy said opposites attracted in life- he was all for quiet things, like reading, or something that didn't involve too many people. Training was the only technically loud kind of thing he did, because people got hurt, people would swear, or taunts would be passed back and forth, and sometimes Isabelle was there on the sidelines not cheering him on. The Institute had its many moments of pure silence, and sometimes, though rarely, it had its moments where nothing in the place was quiet. That was rather troublesome when someone was trying to sleep at one in the morning.

Magnus was well aware how much Alec was his opposite, but he was sure that was what made them perfect for each other. Where each of them were strong, the other was weak, and they could complete each other. Magnus made up for Alec's lack of gayness, lack of fashion sense, and his lack of loudness, and Alec made up for his warlock's messyness, hot temper, and disregard for the rules. They completed each other perfectly and Magnus loved it. "I love you" he sighed, smiling slightly and looking from the TV to look back to his Shadowhunter.

"I love you too," Alec replied with a smile, sighing equally happy. "I love Skylar too." he added, looking at their baby, who was maybe or maybe not logically absorbing the T.V. program. Skylar stared at the moving pictures of the sound box, eyes not understanding what he was seeing, but brain reacting to the movement and the happy songs. "I think he likes this," Alec commented, looking from his baby's eyes to the T.V. It was mildly entertaining, but he had Magnus to look at instead, who was far more eye capturing.

Magnus looked down at Skylar and smiled as well. "Me too" he agreed, watching as the infant looked at the TV with what seemed like awe, but on a baby, that was one of the only expressions he could make. Upset, happy, and what looked like amazement. He probably had no idea what was really going on. "I hope so. People these days should grow up on this shit" he decided. Tv hadn't even been thought of when he was born, but he thought it was pretty much a necissity in this society. They had a little bit of time before he thought he was going to have to get ready to go to the Institute, since he needed more time than Alec's 'throw on some clothes and go' method.

"T.V. isn't the best influence for people, I suppose. It gets them started on personality building, and I figure time and more people finish it and change it. I hope Skylar grows up to be a nice boy." Every parent's dream was for that though, for their child to be a good kid, a smart kid, and maybe a looker. Alec could tell Skylar would be a looker when he got older. His purple eyes would certainly be eye catching, and his dark hair would make them stand out more. "I think Isabelle would like it if Skylar was dressed in one of the outfits she bought him." He'd need Magnus to dress Skylar for that part, since he couldn't even make fashion out of baby clothes.

"Well if it's happy Christmas specials like this, then it's fine" Magnus was sure that all these sorts of things were good influences on children. Alec was the good influence in this relationship, while he was the one to probably give Skylar bad habits or give him a dirty mind and mouth. He was going to have to get used to this whole 'parent' thing. "Yeah. I'll do that after I'm ready. It can't take very long" he shrugged. He already knew what he was wearing, so unless he changed his mind that should cut his time needed down a bit.

"Can't take very long, in your time, or my time?" Alec asked, because they had different ideas of how long what was what. His idea was took under half an hour. Definitely under that time, while Magnus' idea was probably under a few hours. His time span for 'not very long' was really quite long in Alec's mind. An hour wasn't bad, it was acceptable, but if that was what Magnus took to get ready, then that'd be fine. "Are you getting ready soon then?" he inquired, due to the fact that it had been brought up. Magnus took a few hours to get ready, then spend a fourth of that time dressing Skylar. His parents or sister didn't really care what he wore, but he had clothes picked out that didn't have as many holes in them.

Magnus had to think about that for a moment before he answered. "Well, dressing Skylar should only take about twenty five minutes to half an hour. I'll probably be only an hour an a half, maybe a tad more" he planned the whole thing out in his head, considering it, before he decided his answer was satisfactory. "Yeah, I'm going to go in a few minutes" he nodded, wanting to sit here with Alec and Skylar for a bit longer. He didn't know what he was going to dress his son in, but it was going to be cute. He was sure many pictures would be involved in this Christmas.

Alec snickered lightly. Yeah, half an hour. They'd see about that. It was just like Magnus accusing Alec of being in the shower long enough. Alec would say he'd be in for a few minutes, Magnus would scoff. Alec would put an argument forward and then actually prove Magnus right because the water's fall would hypnotize him. Magnus would probably get fussy over make up or something, and keep changing it up. He was late for some clients for that reason sometimes, because apparently his make up was more important to him than helping out people. It was a Magnus thing.

Magnus crossed his arms and glared at Alec playfully. "What are you laughing at, my little Nephilim?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. He was going to manage his time properly, since he didn't need all the time to figure out what he was doing with anything. He had it all planned out to be very Christmasy, with a lot of red and green. There wasn't much he could do with Skylar yet other than dress him, so that wouldn't take very long unless he started kicking and screaming or something. It had happened once before, and he had immediately called for Alec, not knowing what he had done wrong.

"Time management, pretty much," Alec told him, shrugging. "I don't know what you plan on wearing, but weather-appropriate would be something to consider." Magnus chose fashion over comfort, so he'd wear shorts and a T-shirt if he looked good in it in the middle of winter. In summer, if it was the hottest day of the year and Magnus wasn't just walking around naked, he'd wear a scarf and a jacket, if it fit his mood or something. Alec couldn't really talk for that one, since he'd be one to wear a hoodie at the time, but his was habit, and he had a reason that didn't involve fashion. That part counted for something.
