Feeling her realease Alec grunted again. "Good girl" When he receeded he laid beisde her and sighed "I hate to leave you but I must soon" He continued to touch her body. "Hmm I will defiently will be back"

Brodrick smiled and went down he made his stew watering Annoras potion down. Chopping the vegitables more down for her then brought it up to her and some for Adriana, a little thicker for her though. "Here you go girls"

Isla laid on her back, her eyes closing, a teasing smile on her lips. "Oh, please do," she purred.

Adriana sat with Annora in her lap, and waited quietly. When he returned, she smiled softly at him. "Oh, thank you, dear."

Alec slowly stood frowning a little sad that he had to go but he remembered why. Adriana's father was a Laird on the edge of his land there was another allience that would be better but he had to protect Adriana.

Brodick had to smile as she called him dear. It was so wrong and he knew it but he couldnt resist. When Alec got back he would put it too him bluntly either Alec as to put in a claim or he would. Adriana needed some joy in her life it seemed and to be protected from something she wasnt willing to talk about.

Isla glanced to him as he stood up, pulling the blanket over her self. She watched him. "Leaving so soon?" she asked, lazily, sleepily. Her eyes closed slightly, her body well used.

Adriana smiled softly, as she scooped up stew for Annora. "Open wide, sweety."

"Duty calls but thank you" He nodded left the coins then walked out. His men were all doing the same to their women, they mounted up and continued on the way. It would still take a few days of ridding be this needed to be done.

Annora opened "AHHHH" She said. Brodrick was smiling huge. "You are great medicine to her" He said. He stationed himself by the door. He was there to see if either were going to need help also he was her protector. As orders by Alec.

She nodded. Men never stayed. She rolled over onto her side, and closed her eyes. Sometimes she really didn't like her lifestyle, but she had no choice but to live it. There was no other option.

Adriana laughed, Annora was so cute. She fed the stew to the child. "Eat up!" Her gaze shifted to Brodrick, and nodded. "You think so? I'm glad." She smiled contently, it made her happy to help this child.

Alec looked around to his men they all seemed satisfied. He over was not. Sure she was good, but he still felt like he was lacking something. They were going into dangerous territory so they all were on high alert.

Brodrick nodded "I do think so" He sat down and ate his own potion of stew.

Adriana smiled at him, and continued to feed Annora.

Brodrick smiled as Annora ate making noises and seemed to be mimicking Brodrick while eating. Seeing Annora doing it Brodrick let out a belly laugh and Annora mimicked it but then began to cough

Brodrick quickly sat up "Is she okay?"

Adriana frowned when Annora started to cough. She gently rubbed the childs back. "Shhh, sweetie."

Alec and his men continuing ridding stopping only to rest the horses and for the night. 2 days later they made it to the boarder. It took only a short time to make an alliance. Brodrck did not telll him about Adriana though he wanted to make sure this man was a good enough man.

Once they were done it would take another week to make it home as he had to make stops at his other holdings and his brother.

The attack happened on his land so he was relaxed he was knocked from his horse and was knocked unconcious. His men thought he was dead so once the men that did this were dead collected Alec thiniking to burry him on their own land next to his wife.

They brought Alec into the dinning room Brodrick seeing him called to the servents Annora was not allowed to leave the room she was doing so good but seeing her father like this was likely to set her back.

Alec was placed on the table and his men stood around him. Alec had ordered the Doctor not to be allowed on his land so Brodrick sent a messanger for a priest to give last rights. Alec laid on the bed and suddenly his fingers twitched unless you were looking for it no one would notice.

Brodrick nodded. "I am next in line any argurments?" A course of "Nays" went around.

Adriana heard about what happened to Alec. She frowned, and left Annora with one of the ladies. She went to see Alec, feeling upset. He couldn't possibly be dead. She absolutely would not believe it. Her gaze shifted to the men, scoffing in annoyance, they were already discussing who was next in line. Slipping past the men, she went straight to Alec, slipping her hand in his. "Alec...."

Brodrick hated this but he knew it was what Alec would want for life to continue once the last rites were given Alec would be burried. He had hopped that Adriana would stay with Annora he wanted to protect her from the sight if Alec's body. He was battered and burised.

When he saw her slip passed them all to reach to her Brodrick came to her. "I am sorry Adriana, he is gone"

Adriana glanced to brodrick. She shook her head at him, before turning back to Alec. She refused to believe that he was dead. Putting her hand on his chest, over his heart, she prayed that he wasn't dead.

Brodrick singled for everyone to leave them. "Mi Lady I will leave you to say good bye" He sighed "This is going to be messy" He muttered then left the great room for her to be alone with him.

Brodrick waited not to far soon the clan would be at the door step to pay their respects. He wondered how he would protect Annora from this all she was doing so better latly he didnt want to cause her to go back.

Alec was laid out his body dirty and beaten. But when Adriana put her hand down on his chest a very faint slow heart beat could barly felt. Again someone would have to be looking for it and be able to know what it was.

Adriana barely knew him, but her heart ached, the thought that he might be dead upset her. She pressed down on his chest, not paying attention to the fact that Brodrick had everyone leave the room. Right now, she only saw Alec. His body looked so broken, beaten.

But she refused to believe he was dead, so she kept her hand on his chest, over his heart, and closed her eyes. Then she felt it, the faint heart beat. Her heart racing, she rushed to get Brodrick. "He has a heart beat," she told him, determination set on her face.

Brodrick sighed he wasnted Alec to be Okay, but the way the men discribed what happened that was just not a possiblitiy he couldnt resist Adriana though. "Lady Adriana, even if he has a heart beat, its unlikely he will live through the night" He paused "But I will do what ever you want or need to help him"

Adriana frowned at Brodrick. "I want you to fight for him," she stated, before stalking back to Alec, trying to figure out what she could do to help him. She refused to just let Alec die. She moved to Alec's body, and started to check the damages, trying hard not to think about the fact that she was really close to him.

Brodrick raised a brow at her frown. No woman had ever made such faces at her. Hehid his smile though he didnt want her to think he was smiling over the condtion of Alec.

He followed her in and ordered water to be boiled for clothes so he could be cleaned. "So what are you thinking Lady Adriana"

"I don't know," she replied softly. "I'm not a doctor." Adriana was upset, she really wanted to help Alec. But she would fight for him. "We.. need to clean his wounds. Maybe I can find herbs that can help him."

The clothes were brought the water was still warm but not too hot to handle. Brodrick nodded and handed one to her. "Where are your herbs I can get someone to go get them"

Alec was barely clinging on he was unconcious but could hear what was happening but he couldnt move or wake up.

"Their at Catriona's she should know where they are. Or her husband knows," she stated softly, as she took one of the cloths. she dipped it in the water, and started to clean his wounds after squeezing most of the water out of the cloth.

Brodrick nodded and got a servent to go get it he didnt want to leave Adriana alone. Soon the herbs were brought and Alec took them to her. "Here you are lady Adriana"

He looked over Alec wanting him to be well. Annora couldnt lose both her parents.

Adriana took the herbs with a thanks. She worked on Alec, tending to his wounds the best she could. "Alec, you better pull through, or I'll never forgive you."
