Nick looks at the children they just brought in. He looked them over being very careful. He did not see any large changes but they injected with the serum. Their veins looked like they were going to explode. He says asking the boy, “They injected you with a clear goo before the green goo didn’t they?” The boy nods. He looks at Keita and whispers in her ear, “These kids are in for a world of hurt. Do you know anyone in the medical field that we can trust?”

Keita thought for a moment "I'm afraid not… wait.. there might be someone. He's treated me before but I don't know how he'll react to the kids" she said softly to him and called the doctor "he'll be able to come over later on, apparently he's gone out business since i vanished as well" she sighed and ruffled her hair "We'll have to make sure their comfortable at least until then"

Nicholas nods and kisses her forehead before saying, “Okay we just have to watch them closely.” The toddler did not look any older than two years old. He took her in his arms and got her a cookie to see if she was able to eat. All the new kids seemed to be ill nourished. He saddened some as the little one burst into tears as soon as she tried to swallow.

Keita thought for a moment "Stay there" she said to him and came back with something soft "Here try this, it's rice pudding, it's warm and soft so might be easier for her" she said. I remember eating a lot of soft food during this time" she muttered and shifted where she stood handing some other bowl to the others for them to sit down and eat. SHe stayed up waiting for the doctor to get there. She went to the door hearing a knock "Hey you called "Good these kids have similar cases to me, their in early stages think you can help?" he nodded and began to examine the youngest first

The little girl could swallow the rice pudding and clearly, she was starving. The others tired some and they ate quietly. When the doctor arrived, all the kids tried to hide. The little girl squirmed in Nick’s arms trying to get away. He hums in her ear to keep her calm. The little girl tightens her fists and a mini barrier flashes in and out around her. The serum kicking in to protect her.

Keita made him take off his doctors coat and then got him to sit down and spend some time with them first "Look it's ok he's a friend, he's helped me in the past" she took the girl from Nick and sat with her back to the doctor holding her "He won't hurt you, he's a good doctor, not like those ones" she said to her softly. When she allowed the doctor introduced himself as Andrew and smiled before slowly checking them over and showing them exactly what they were being given one by one to help reduce the pain they would soon have "It's ok, I won't hurt you ok?" he smiled "Also do you have a spare room, it might be best I stay here if you're running such a place it's a good idea to have a resident doctor, I can hire a nurse as a volunteer as well" eh suggested looking to Nick for approval since he seemed to in charge.

Nick nodded to the doctor. “We have plenty of room for you and a few nurses. The health of the children is the only thing that matters right now.” He was clearly the protective father type towards these kids but he was not over protective despite what he and the others have been though. He helped each child get a check up by Andrew.

"Ok then we'll get to work as soon s we can" he said and once they all and a check up Keita got them to bed after which she was exhausted and made some hot chocolates for herself, nick and the doctor "That was long, but surely people will send out missing children reports?" she asked but then remember they were orphans anyway "Scratc that I forgot" she sighed

Nick looks at her and says, “Orphans are the perfect target for stuff like this. They have no one to miss them or even notice that they are gone. That is why Nathan and I thought making this place into an orphanage would be a good way to stopping that. Showing these kids that someone does care about them. If a child has hope, they are most likely to thrive instead of giving into the darkness of despair.”

"That is true" she said and sighed before finishing her drink "I'm heading to bed, I got a few scratches I need to take care of, same goes for you Nick" she said to him before kissing him goodnight quickly and then heading up to bed. The next morning she went to help some of the younger children with their clothes getting used to being around them slowly. "Ok that's you sorted now let's go down for breakfast ok?"

Nick kisses her good night and takes Andrew to his room before allowing his powers to heal both their wounds. Then he cleaned the place up for them before going to bed. From his bed, he made sure no one could connect them to the burning building. The next morning, Eric and Fred helped Rebecca with creating a budget report and Nick got the bullet proof glass and worked on getting it installed when it arrived in the early morning.

Keita helped with getting the glass installed and smiled when it was done "Ok that's sorted this way they can still get some sunlight when they end up coped up inside like before or when they're too ill to go outside" she said "also can one of you give me a hand I promised them all egg on toast this morning which means a lot of eggs to fry" she said a little sheepishly "which I'm not so good at." she said "They also wanted some bacon too, I can prepare something softer for the new arrivals as well" she nodded

Nick nods and comes inside to her cook and keep the children at bay at the same time. His sword lay against the doorway glowing brightly but a blue color instead red. It flashed shapes of animals and dances for the kids. Nick says, “The kids seem to like it here despite the strangeness. I think we made the right choice to make this place.”

Keita nodded "yeah to think if we and this kind of place, maybe we wouldn't have gottne separated and maybe I wold still remember everything?" she said before finishing up wight eh toast and bacon as well as sorting plates out. She handed them out as soon as they were ready "Ok that's the last" she said a while later "We need someone with extra hands" she laughed

Nick looks at her a moment after the cooking is all done and everyone is full. “I can give you all your memories back if you want. Being one with you, gives me that power.” His voice was sad and shaky. He wanted to keep her safe from the darkness that was their past. There were things even he wished he could forget. However, he could not. He clenched his fists.

Keita looked to him when he said that wondering why he hadn't mentioned it before but shook her head quickly figuring out why "That might be so but you don't want to do you?" she said to him. "It's fine I'll just have to let my own memory sort it's self out" she handed him his breakfast before her own was sorted and sat down to eat with him. "Plus You're protective and most likely would miss some out"

Nick looks at her taking his breakfast and eating it slowly. “Yes there would be things I would leave out. Like how you reacted to Nathan the first time. Or what the guards did to us when we were in our cages. There are many things I would keep from you and myself if I could.” He finishes his food and washes the dishes since they do not have a dishwasher.

"But you see Nick, I'm not a kid anymore" she said to him "and I'm bound to remember at some point anyway" she sighed "So for now I'll just let my memory repair it's self ok?" Keita put her dishes in the dish washed as well before heading up to her room, going through drills she'd been taught from a young age in order to keep her fitness up. Coming down a while later she spoke to Rebecca asking if she and any spare clothes since she didn't have many that were not her old work clothes.

Nick watched her leave before saying, “That may true but it does not mean I agree with it.” He went outside and worked on the greenhouse. He goes inside it once it is set up and gets working on the plants. However, after a few hours, the serum in his body started to act up again. He tenses up in pain and does his best to stay quiet for the children’s sake.

Keita felt hers acting up not long after which caused her to find Nick wondering if he was having the same problem and tugged his sleeve gently looking him in the eye before grabbing his hand and going somewhere else and find Andrew "Same problem?" he asked and she nodded. "I made these myself to help Keita with the problem, I used all natural stuff so don't worry no chemicals are added to the body after all if it's a chemical causing ti it's best to try and balance it out" he said handing a dark green pill which looked as though it were made of grass "Don't worry I've seen him make it" she said to Nick still in agony from the serum before taking the pill. It took a little while to work but it was better than suffering in pain. He handed the pair a small sachet of them in a little drawstring bag so they wouldn't need to keep coming back. "I'll make a milder version for the younger ones" he said to them. "But remember it only dulls the pain for a while and you can only take these once a day got it?"

Nicholas looks at the pill and says, "I have been gritting my teeth and baring it this long, I can keep doing it." He was not trying to insult Andrew, he just didn't want to go on medications for the rest of his life. He slowly moves so he is laying on the floor trying to calm his heart rate. He could feel his body changing again. His bones cracked and popped as he laid there.

Keita looked to him "well I haven't it interfered with my job which if I didn't do I'd end up dead" she said "and it'll be good to start out with that way you can teach them to deal with the pain" she said as she heard his bones cracking again. She bit into the pill which dulled it for the time being but didn't take the the sache of them and helped Nick up when he was ready "How are you feeling?" she asked

Nicholas looks at her and says with a smile, "It is a part of us for the rest of our lives. If we do not learn to handle it, then it will be our undoing." He gets up with her help and says, "The only thing that I have not gotten used to is the way my muscles feel afterwards." He stretches out his back and arms. He did not seem to mind the pain for the most part.

"Yes I know Nick, but dealing with it comes second after trying not to get myself killed" she said bluntly to him. The times before I didn't have these pills though my body didn't change like yours. My ability is being able to adapt so my body has to reset itself every now and then in order to cope meaning I can't do anything for a day or two now" she said "But another thing I've noticed is during these times, I can copy DNA, a mutation within a mutation" she laughed "For example, if I touched a bird, I could grow feathers and wings when my body was back to normal. Doesn't work with other mutations unfortunately"

Nicholas listens to her and then looks in her eyes. "To copy other people's mutation and ability takes at least five minutes of constant contact. But the copied ability only lasts for so long since it is a form of borrowing." He then goes to get his sword. He walks passed her his body still changing. He knew more about her skills than she did. He had to. Otherwise she may have killed him by now.
