"How do you know so much anyway?" she asked him curiously "You seem to know more than your telling in other words tell me" she moved in front of him and looked him straight in the eye wanting some answers. "and I know that, that's why it's like a reset button" she frowned at him "Now why do you know so much anyway and fi you did so why didn't you tell me?"

Nicholas looks at her his eyes shifting colors and says getting irritated with her this time, “One get out of my face. Two you never asked. Three you have tried to kill me after absorbing the powers of others. Why? Because when you absorb the powers of others, you are easier to manipulate by others and your mind cannot handle the stress. Four if people who are after us found out, they would force you to absorb powers and turn you into a mindless weapon.” He walks passed her. “I have had to put down many of my comrades because of that ability. I do not want to have to kill you too. Okay?”

Keita growled a little "Fine then" she said "You won't have to" she shouted at him angrily, he didn't need to snap at her like that "I was only curious" she soon headed elsewhere, climbing onto the roof and lying back. She stayed up there for endless hours ignoring others if they tried to look for her. This time she was thinking it might just be better to of back to her old job, at least she could have her space. Keita shook her head and sighed "Next time I just won't ask" she said softly.

One of the younger ones from the recent break in was looking around for her, her name was Sakura. "Kat…" she shouted looking around curiously for her. "Rebecca, where is Kat, she's nowhere to be found"

Rebecca looks at the children a moment as they were all curious as to where Kat was. She says with a smile, “She and Nick got into a mini cat fight so they need their own space. See something happen between her and him when they were young, and Nick is still a little touchy about it. He knows it was not her fault but some wounds between friends do not heal right.”

She then goes to Kat and uses one of her powers to keep Kat from running away. She sits down beside her. “When we were in the labs, you and Nick were as close as can be. You protected each other and shared so many secrets. Secrets that he would not even tell the boys or me. However, one day the experiments were too much for you and your mutation was kicked up to a deadly level. You killed 500 people including other kids. The scientists tossed him into the room with you hoping he could get you stable. He couldn’t…”

She looks at the sky. “You attacked him full throttle. Back then, he was no match for you. You nearly killed him without even having a weapon. What saved him was the fact that he did not want to die. In that realization, his mind split into two personalities. The Nick you know and love and then a darker side. One that would do anything to survive even kill you if need be. That is what you two nearly did, until you snapped back to reality bursting into tears at the sight of his bleeding body. However, the darker side of Nick was not satisfied with you going back to normal. He wanted you dead. He tried to deliver a final blow but Nick fought to regain control to protect you.”

She looks at her and says, “He stabbed himself in the throat to stun his darker side. It worked and he regained control.” She looks back at the sky. “He tried to finish himself off so he could not be a threat to you but you would not let him. You see everything he has ever done has been to protect you. Including keeping things away from you even though it kills him to do it. While you the girl he has always loved, cursed him to be a ticking time bomb by triggering Nathan to be created, rejected or questioned his feelings, and has made him feel like a suspect in a conspiracy to control you or use you. At least…that is how you seem to treat him to the others and me. So forgive him for getting touchy. Especially since if you ever reach that state of mind again, nothing Nick feels for you will be strong enough to stop Nathan from killing you.”

She looks at her and says, “And you know that him killing you will kill him too. That is how the link works. A double edge sword.”

Keita looked to Rebecca listening "So that's why eh won't tell me but that also explains a lot more things" she said to her listening carefully to what she had to say and sighed ruffling her hair and thinking for a moment "I better go apologise" let's see, he's still inside so should be easy to find at the moment. Hopefully he's not to angry at me" she said looking to Rebecca "and can you release me please I know your stopping me from running away.

When Rebecca did release her she headed to where Nick was "Ummm Nick?" she knocked on the door "Can I speak to you, Rebecca told me" she said softly waiting before coming and and sitting down opposite him "I'm sorry, I don't know what else I can say but I'm sorry" she said, not sure who to say what she wanted to. "I'll be more careful in the future ok?" she kissed his cheek gently waiting to see his reaction nervously.

Nick looks at her as he listened to her talk. His eyes still going back and forth between red and gold. He says, “You know idea how strong you really are and if people found out, you would be tortured until you turned again. Probably lock me up so I cannot calm or harm you.” He gently strokes her cheek and says, “Everything you have done, I have felt. Every thought or emotion you have, I have had projected into me. You have never liked killing people. But imagine having your body enjoy it while your mind is forced to watch…it is not a good feeling I will tell you that.”

Keita listened to what he said leaning into his hand a little, kissing his fingers. She tried to imagine it and shook her head "I can't imagine it I'm afraid" she said to him and settle next to him resting her head on his shoulder in silence "Still I'm sorry and I'll be more careful" she said although she felt bad for being the one that triggered his split personality so to speak. "and I'm sorry for before as well" she muttered as she thought on the topic of Nick and Nat. Keita then just remained silent not sure what else to do now.

Nick looks at her with a shrug and says, “It is something that cannot be helped Kieta. I did want to die and I did not want to kill you either.” He kisses her forehead. “I am sorry I snapped at you. Sometimes I cannot control or predict when my temper is going to act up and most of the time; I do not even know why I am anger. Something to do with a disorder I got from my grandfather.”

Keita looked to him and nodded kissing his cheek softly and smiling a little. "I see, and doesn't matter I still shouldn't have snapped either" she sighed "also if it's what I think it is then I think you're coping well" she said before kissing him gently on the lips this time. "So shall we start over?" she asked him "Also can I stay here tonight… I'm sure you know thanks to that link but I've started remembering some rather unpleasant memories" she said "and when we can we should try and organise something together and something for the kids to keep their spirits up"

Nick smiles and says, “Starting over sounds good. Yes, you can stay in here tonight. Someone might as well use the bed.” His stomach growls and says, “I think we should get lunch ready. If I am hungry I am sure the kids are too.” He kisses her lips before going to the kitchen and works on making some soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. There was no need for Keita to do all the cooking.

Keita nodded "Most likely" she said "although some are constantly hungry" she headed down with him beginning to pick ups few of his thoughts through the link "and the reason I do the cooking is because I can't do much else, like I said I'm not good with kids and that'll take time." she sighed shaking her head and helped by putting out plates for the meals sitting down with him to eat afterwards "Thanks for cooking this time" she said before almost burning her tongue on the soup, putting it down when she saw steam coming from it and instead started on the grilled sandwich. "It's nice"

Nick laughs some but winces some as she burnt her tongue on the soup. “Easy there. You can clearly see it is hot.” He wait for everything to cool before having the kids come down to eat. They do not give Nick any trouble and sit down quietly to eat. He could see that most of them were in the grip of the serum fighting the pain to eat. If Andrew was going to help them, he was to have to work fast.

"I forgot ok?" she muttered "and it takes a little while to get the pills ready, after all he's giving them a milder version so has to work out the measurements, but it should be another day maybe two at the most, I checked in earlier" she said to him. "It's the best he can do I'm afraid" she nodded and looked to him. "But at least it'll help them while they get used to it" she said softly "so it's best these things are done right" she sighed and finished her sandwich starting once again at her soup making sure it was cool by then. Finishing off she put her bowls in the dish washer and began collecting some that were on the side.

Nick nods looking at the children as they ate. The kids were trying to put on brave faces. He got an idea and gave each of them a ball to squeeze whenever they were in pain. It was to give them a sense of control and for him to see how frequent they were in pain. He needed to have an estimate in order to teach them to bare it. He eats after a little bit.

Keita looked to him "What are you thinking?" she asked sitting back down opposite him "I know you have an idea and is it normal for me to be able to read your thoughts every now and then?" she asked him softly. "Also we need a distraction for them during these times, it'll help them to be able to bear it more so they don't end up constantly taking these pills of the rest of their life and when they get adopted out" she nodded. "Maybe a movie night or a sports day at some point would be an idea, but one more thing we need to think about. what about their education?" she asked him. "They won't be able to get on in this world without one to be fair, not like you at least" she said "once they can properly control their powers it might be best to send them to a school, unless you have any ideas we;ll have to try and pick one out carefully."

Later on Keita found one of the larger rooms and began to organise something for the kids, in an effort to distract them from the pain they were most likely feeling at that point. She put on a serious of cartoons for them to watch as well as finding some other things to put in the room so they could focus on something else. Smiling a little later on when she checked up on them she heard some laughing at the cartoons glad it was working even a little.

Keita sniffed a little before she picked up something, the dog she'd touched that day and heightened her senses. She moved cautiously picking up the scent, they were near and they had something strange with them. Keita growled a little and headed to her room, she pulled on her old garb and pulled on her hidden blades. She made sure that the children didn't notice being very silent and light footed came with her trade. "Something isn't right, that's not human yet it reeks of them." she sniffed again "It should be dead…" she muttered to herself, her hand on the front door picking up the scents before clicking and finding the person holding up the field "How well can you shield this place?" she asked.

Finding Nick she spoke to him "Look, I don't want you to panic, so I'll be right back, they have something out there and it's getting dangerously close to us" she kissed him quickly "Now stay here, I'll lure them away and be straight back." That lasted far longer than she thought, she lured them away from the place by distracting their new beast. It was a new mutation, and by the looks of it it was made from dead children as well, she could smell several of them in one body, it was disgusting.

She spent a lot of time luring them away from the orphanage around a week maybe two before she ended up captured cruising in her head, she could no longer move since she was starving and exhausted. This new creature was very good at tracking them down.

Nick did as she asked and stayed with the children to keep them safe. Through the link, he could see what she had seen. A monster made of dead experimented on people. He says to her in mind, “Stay calm do not trigger your darker self. Promise me.” When she was captured, he tensed up in anger. He wanted to go after but he could not leave the children unprotected.

After the creature was secure, the scientists transported Keita into an underground lab. One scientist was female and looked like Rebecca. She says, “Hello experiment 23-56. How is my sister doing?” There was a malice in her voice. They strapped her down to a table and begin testing the limits of her powers, bringing her to the brink and back. All the while Nick was enduring it with her. He sent images into her mind of him holding her and trying to keep her safe.

Keita endured it as best she could feeling her darker self emerging she shook it off and bit her lip to to give them the pleasure of her being in pain. Panting heavily after it all once in her cell she ate what they gave her needing something in her system in order to get her body to move. "Right might as well get a souvenir while I'm here". She waited until it was darker, until they came for her again. That day she'd been provided with plenty of DNA.

She didn't go unscathed and only hoped they weren't too bad for Nick's sake. However, she took a wrong turn and saw something terrifying, that beast was not a one off. It was being made from failed experiments, the ones that didn't survive. Like some strange frankenstein monster. "What… what is all this?" she stuttered. But getting recaptured again her limits were tested once more and again provided with more DNA samples. By the second week her body was at it's limit and it was harder to keep her dark side away, she ate what she could checking for poisons and medicines in her food before eating.

It took another week at least until she found another chance of escape, this time succeeds, and she'd grabbed something as well, the hard drive of their main computer as well as clearing the computers out before leaving. "I'm definitely sleeping when I get back." she groaned. At it's limit she felt and intense pain ringing in her ears and head "Damn it all, not now" she snarled. "Nick some help?" she muttered a little to herself.

Nick could feel them both losing a grip on their darker selves. He finally got the others to come in to take care of the children. When he saw the Frankenstein looking creature, he got sick. He says in her mind, “I don’t know what that is but it is not good. Could they be trying to fix their mistakes by combining them?”

When she did finally did escape, Nick took all the pain from her body and pulled it into himself so that she could make it home safely. His body looked like it was going to turn to dust at any moment. He says to her weakly, “I will be waiting for you.” He slowly gets out of bed and waits for her even though it was killing him.

Keita spoke "You're an idiot" she said bluntly as he took away her pain and got back home, it took her a while having no idea where she was and trying to pick up a scent was hard too. Eventually she found her way back. She found him and collapsed from exhaustion beside him "Idiot Nick, don't take on so much pain, you look like you'll vanish at any second" she panted. "I found out what they're doing, turns out we were never meant to survive. They wanted us dead that's why we're unstable, you could say, because they wanted us to die. Also the darker sides are a side effect, to create entertainment for those who fund the labs." she panted "and how long was I gone?"

Nick looks at her and takes her in his arms gently taking her to his bed. He covers her up and says, “You were gone for 3 ½ weeks.” He lays beside her on top of the covers. “If they want us dead, then they suck at their job. Each time we are pushed to the brink, we come back stronger. That is why the serum acts up, because we want to survive. The children are growing stronger and the serum is active everyday.”

Keita shifted under the blankets "and I got you a souvenir while I was in there too" she smiled "destroyed their computers, after stealing the hard drive and wiped the back up data storage as well before leaving, "I can't wait for my reset though my body feels like it's about to break" she said before moving a little closer to him and rested "and if I was gone that long I have a lot of sleep to catch up on and food too" she said raising a hand she moved bits of hair from his eyes smiling, "Much better and thank you" kissing him softly before she snuggled into him a little in order to settled down and sleep after she put the hard drive in a draw for him later on. Only then did she sleep peacefully for hours on end.

Nick stayed by her the whole time she slept; he went through the data as well. The data confused him more and pissed him off. He says to himself, “This does not make sense. If they wanted a mindless killing machine, why pair us together to calm each other down?” He looks at her sleeping form. “I am not letting you out of my sight again.” He kisses her softly.

Keita woke up when he kissed her "Hmm, what is it?" she muttered looking to him thinking she heard him say something, she still looked rather tired "Well that data is rather confusing isn't it?" she muttered sleepily. "But I think that they are doing something else as well" she yawned curling up once again just wanting to sleep "and keeping me in your sight will be difficult" she joked before falling asleep once again.

She woke up late in the evening around dinner time, groaning she got up and headed down to the kitchen still a little sleepy from having just woken up. Smelling some good food cooking did draw her towards the cooking and sitting in the kitchen she smiled "So you took over cooking while I was gone and can I have some I'm starving"

Nicholas looks at her and her sleepiness. She was always like this. One desire at a time. He turns on the little electric heater that looks like a fireplace. "Sleep my love." He kisses her forehead gently and then goes to take care of the kids. At dinner time he went a little overboard. He made steak and mashed potatoes. Fresh mixed vegetables. Homemade cinnamon bread. He hears Keita wake up and he smiles. "Sure you can have some. But please, wait for the food to cool before chowing down."

Keita noticed how much he was cooking "You're happy, by the amount of food you've made that can be told anyway and how are you feeling?" she asked still waking up a little and nodded at his advice "Ok, ok I'll only eat what's already cool" she said and began to eat the cinnamon bread before she waited for the rest to cool a little and then began to eat the food rather happily "It;s never tasted so good" she smiled happily finishing her plate of food rather quickly and settled there for a moment "Are the kids doing alright?" she asked "Nothing come here since?"
