Liz looks at him and says, "I would be glad to learn the ways of your kind but not many of my kind would agree with me." She looks over him a moment noticing the full difference in their structures. She loved the markings of his skin and the kindness in his eyes.

he shrugged'' its the way of your people i suppose. like i said.. stubborn. .. hard headed..'' he looked down at her before frowning, catching her staring at him '' what? ..'' he looked down at himself. making sure everything was in its right place and not out of sorts.. '' ok i have no bugs on me.. why are you staring?"

Liz looks at the ground and says, "I was just looking at the markings of your skin." She gets off the ground and gets closer to him so that they were only a few feet apart. She was happy that Ares trusted her to be around her but she could see the uneasiness in his eyes.

he glanced down at the markings before looking back at her'' nothing special about them.. i am sure you have a few marks or two on your body'' he shrugged, sitting down so he would be more at her level and give her a better chance to look at him. he glanced around slightly as his tail moved silently just a habit when he was slowly relaxing. '' how long will it be before your father comes looking for you again?"

Liz says gently stroking a marking on his arm, "My father won't look for me knowing I can take care of myself..." His skin was very smooth and she says, "Scars are not markings I bare with pride, Ares." She was touching him as gently as she could.

he frowned, trying not to jump just from her touching him. '' and why not? scars are a symbol of you surviving something that has happened.. definitely symbols of being brave and strong.. '' he reached out gently and flicked a strand of her hair out of her face. '' but what do i know.. our people are so different. '' he smiled'' and i know you can take care of yourself from normal humans.. but what of the wild animals out here? i don't think you would survive.'' he was stating a fact after all.

Liz looks at him as he touched her face. She says, "You may have a point there. But I would not risk it to prove you wrong. I need to exist for my father." She did not move from his touch as she shows him ten deep painful scars that covered her right arm.

he frowned as he reached out lightly to take her arm, running his fingers slowly over the scars'' are these.. self inflicted?" he glanced at her face again before back at her arm.. '' i think your father is very lucky to have you.. you seem to... keep him moving somehow it hink.. '' he frowned, he really didn't know how to word it for her.. '' is he sick?"

Liz says, "Yes these are self inflicted. I was a kid when I did this to myself." She looks down at the ground and says, "My father is dying. He has been for two years. That is why we moved here. One of your flower plants has the possibility of creating a cure for lung cancer."

he frowned, he knew the term cancer.. a disease that slowly ravished ones body till they just couldn't live any more. he just didn't know there had been certain types'' i see.. wish i could be more help to you on that.. i only know the basics of our healing .. you would have to go seek out someone who is... more knowledgeable of that.''

Liz says, "My father won't let me. He has accepted his fate and he wants me to do the same." She looks away as a tear goes down her face as she knew she could not accept that. She did not want to leave Pandora to go back to her mother on earth. She wanted to stay here where she felt she could make a difference.

he sighed as he reached out and lightly brushed the tear from her cheek'' you should not mourn so soon. you never know he may run into a certain plant or tree that could heal him. besides'' he smiled slightly '' if he is cured you are only prolonging the unavoidable. we all die at some point.. even you will,. and we will all be reborn again''

Liz says, "I know that but if he does die soon, everything we have done here will die with him. All our hard work to find cures to painful diseases will be all for nothing." She looks in his eyes and says, "We don't want people to die a painful death if we can prevent it."

he nodded slightly before leaning back'' true.. but wouldn't there be others to carry on his work? or do the others just not care about it?" now he was confused, with his people if someone died before they finished something, another would pick up where they left off.. thats just how it was. its why his people where proud to be what they where.

Liz says, "No one else cares about this stuff. It is just me and my father." She looks around having a feeling that they were being watched by someone. She looks back at her father and the body guards were still too far to see them. So she figures it was one of the Na'vi that got curious about their conversation.

he too glanced around, feeling a little bit uneasy before he slowly got up '' you should get back with him.. it is not safe for you to be wandering around here alone. '' he reached out to help her up before letting her go '' if your father pass's .. you could always take on his work.. you are a very smart woman Liz. i trust you know that''

"You should get back with him...it is not safe for you to be wandering around here alone." Sensing the nervousness in his voice, Liz did not argue. She lets him help her up and says to him, "I will do all I can to continue my father's work if he passes away before he can complete it." She hears her father calling so she she says good-bye to Ares before heading back to her father with the plant in her hand.

he nodded, watching her leave before looking around more thoroughly he could sense a predator near by , glancing back at her he frowned before following her. it didnt take no more then a few seconds to hear the roar of the panther like creature before he spotted it, tensing he moved quickly breaking out into a run to catch her first, picking her up instantly and jumping into a tree, placing her in it before jumping down again just as the creature spotted him instead, going after him now since his attention was no longer on the humans.

Liz let out a small gasp as Ares moved quickly breaking out into a run to catch her first, picking her up instantly and jumping into a tree, placing her in it. Only then did she see the panther like creature go after Ares. She looked at the body guards and her father and made a signal for them to go back to the colony. Her father had no choice but to go back without her. She stays perfectly still in the tree.

the movement of the guards and her father quickly caught the attention of the creature, are's hissed, luck was definitely something he needed at the moment. Humans, they really won't understand the dangers of the forest. shaking his head as he ran he whooped and hollered to try and get the attention of the creature again. not needing the thing to try and kill her family.

He skidded to an instant stop as the creature turned towards him again , figuring since he was bigger it would get a good m eal out of him. Are's backed up slowly , watching as it advanced before turning and ran full out , the thing already hot on his heels. atleast he got his wish for something exciting to happen. he just wished he wasn't the one being chased for it. glancing back behind him to see how close the creature was, he immediately let out a string of curses in his language as he picked up a little more speed, the creature was fast and definitely gaining on him.Grabbing a large fallen branch as he passed he skidded to a stop once again to turn around and swing it at the creature, catching it on its side and flinging it away from him , he waited for the creature to lunge at him agian before swinging the large branch one more time, catching it on the side of the head and knocking it out cold. sighjng he huffed as he tried to catch his breath before carefully going towards the creature, making sure it was still alive before heading back towards liz. Looking up at the tree where he had stashed her he just gave a slight smile'' told you its not safe... i should get you home before it wakes up and thinks your a snack''

Liz nods and with his help gets out of the tree. She makes her way to the colony with Ares by her side. She gets to the wall that divides their two people and stops. She looks at him and says, “Thank you for keeping me safe…” Liz sees that the guards are watching them closely. She says, “I better get inside before they try to hurt you.” She sadly heads inside the colony with her father watching her.

he kneeled down to be with her level once again as she spoke''your welcome..'' he reached to turn around again before she could go back'' promise me that you won't come out here alone? i don't not want to see you hurt.. if you like.. i can escort you around'' he glanced at the guards and her father before looking back at her'' guess he knows you are talking to me now... so maybe he will agree? ''

Liz looks at him and says, “I would like if you would escort me around. The more plants we get to scan, the more likely to find cures that we need. You see if my father can prove that some of your planet’s can produce cures, our government can not shut down the colony program.” She looks at her father and says, “Yes he would defiantly agree.”

he relaxed before glancing at her father agian then back at her'' good, i shall be around here again when the sun is high.. '' he went to get up before stopping then looking down at her, pulling his necklace off he carefully placed it around her neck.. '' there.. if you are out there before i am.. other Na'vis will no not to touch you.. '' with that he nudged her towards the gate'' now go. your father looks like he is going to have a scare fit.. ''
