"It'll go away in time don't worry" she said softly and moved her hand gently around his eyes "Hmm, still a little swollen but it'll die down in a day or two and you should be able to see as normal again" she said nodding ehr head slightly and moved her hand away. "Were staying here for today since we know it's safe and there I stoared food not very far from here either plus this palce is very well hidden" she stood up and Cass growled slightly and she sat down "Oh, come on I can walk Cas" she said and the little pup growled at her and nipped her angrily before lying in eh lap. "Ok, ok...s hesh short tempered little pup" she looked down to Cass sleepigncurled up in her lap.

Cody nodded. "Well thats good to hear" He winced slightly as she touched the swollen area. "I guess they hit me harder then I thought" He frowned when he felt her pull her hand away, somehow he had liked that he didnt know why.

He listened to what she said and nodded "That sounds good Ren" He sighed "I just wish I could be of more help" When he heard her get up he nearly pulled her down too but Cass got to her frist.

"We are okay right now, or you could tell me where it is, I can almost see" He said.

"Yeah, yeah" she said as she searched through her pouch quickly "Damn, they took all my bullets" she quickly searched ehr gun "Even the ones in my gun, good thing they left the mould and the bits of scrap metla I cna make a few with them the heat rod is hot enough" she began metling the metla over the heat rod over the moulds of the bullets for her gun adding a strang egreen liquid in order to strengthen them as well. It was rather akward with Cass still asleep in her lap and soon laid back again and offered Cody on headphone "Well they left some things and it's fine I can pick it up later on" nodding a bit when he said he could see better "that's a relief, I was getting warroied there" she said muttering slightly and looked at the sky though the broken ceiling it was pure blue for once with cotton candy clouds soaring slowly across it.

The fact that she didnt let him go out alone didnt get pass him, maybe he didnt look as good as he was trying to let on. He still couldnt see 100% but he thought he was doing better he squinted his eyes to try to see what she was doing.

"No bullets?" He shook his head "I really wonder what they want with us, I mean we are children" He shook his head "I know we have been through this but it just doenst make sense" He sighed "Nothing does, like how can we be the only ones left on earth?"

"I don't know, human experiments, that thing you ahve at the back of your neck.. I don't know and I don't want to find out anytime soon" said Ren "and the bullets I use are easy enough to make if you have the right formula.. sorry I was always good at making things in other words I never have to search for bullets just scarp metal and don't try to fool me either Your worse than me at the momment, and I bet you can't even see properly yet either" she said and handed him the cold compress "that'll help bring down the swelling...

"And I did some research on that... they.. they did an experiment they had tried it once before trying to awaken the abilty to communicate without words but twice it failed the results of teh first time weren't as bad but the second time was diasterous... the few people that did survive were taken away as experiments in order to test their abilities and if it worked..." she shuffled uneasily "my parents were taken and I hid in the closet as instructed luckily they were stupid enough not to look there...I don't think any of them survived what happened they had numbers and bit like you but their's were bleached off with the bit of skin it was on." shje grimanced as she remembered what she had seen and then jsut sjuffled a bit ad leaned against his back feeling mroe at ease there knowing that both of them were there...

Nodding Cody sighed "Sorrey I know you dont want to think about it" He licked his lips and itched the back of his neck. "I just hope that they dont find us, again, I doubt they will be dumb enough to have us together this time" He shook his head. "Do you remember what they did to you when we were there" He paused "Of course I know you dont want to think about it, and if you dont want me to know I will understand I am just curious"

He blushed when she called him out on not being about to see fully yet. "Guess you know me better then that already" He then took the compress and sighed "Thank you"

He listened to hercontinue then moved closer to her and put an arm around her. "I am sorry Ren" He touched her face softly. "I am glad we found each other"

"It's fine" she said and nodded "yeah, but you never know they are stupid" she said and from what I coudl tell their lab wasn't big either just horrible" pausing she closed her eyes recalling what she could "Not much, they just injected something into me a strange liquid type thing and made a lot of notes, I don't know what on" she said shaking her head "and of course I do, it doesn't take me long to figure people out either and your the kidn of guy that owuld do something like that as well" she said
She smiled feeling his arm around her again and also moved a bit closer and leaned back into his touch and nipped his hand playfully and giggled smiling at him she nodded agreeing with him "yeah, I'm glad as well.. I don't know where'd I'd be without you now" she muttered having grown a bit attached to him already and helped him keep the compress over the swelling being gentle so she didn't hurt him.

Chuckling then wincing holding her side when he did at her comment. "Your right they are stupid beyond stupid" He winked then winced again. "Okay I need to stop doing that" Then as he listed he shook his head and touched her cheek again. "I am very sorry, how are you feeling now with all that suff? I wonder what it did" He then shook his head. "Lets not worry about that right now and just take care of eachother"

He laughed as he felt her nip at his hand. He had noticed how she had leaned into his touch so tempted it again as she held the compass he toched her lips softly. "Are you really okay Ren?"

"Ah, where are you hurt?" she asked as he winced looking to him nervously and laughed a bit before seeing him wince again making her worry quite a lot now. "I don't know... I think I was just to weak then to stand it.. that's all" she muttered before nodding at his comment and kissed his finger as he touched her lips and then nipping his finger playfully...noticing the compress fall a bit she helped him keep it on again being very gently before she listened to his question "I'm fine, your in a more terrible state than me" she said nodding and not letting him argue "and no arguments either mister" she said tapping his nose softly

"Just my ribs are a bit tender when I laugh" Cody said softly. He then contineued to stroke her face seeing how she seemed to enjoy it before but he had to shake his head. "Ren you are the furthest thing from weak I know, so dont evey say that" His voice was gentle but he didnt want her to be so hard on herself.

They were both strong or they would have not have lived as long as they did. He smiled as he playfully kissed and bit his thumb. When the ice compress fell he shook his head. "Mine is just more visable" He paused "I think we are both hurting" He grinned he is just argured with her and wondered what his punisment was going to be.

She smiled a bit as he stroked her face before dhe listened to him frowning when he argued and shook her head pressing on the compact. "Honestly what am I going to do with you, huh?" she said and giving a slight sigh "I'm completly fine Cody, I just high a temperature at the momment it's nothing serious" she said sort of lying because her temperature was going up and down all the time now. "and it's bcause yours is more visable that it's worse, because it most likely hurts more as well" she had pressed the compact harder so it stung a bit since he had argued with her adn then nipped his nose as well not wanting to hurt him.
Although she did find it hard to argue with his statment but just left it.

"It really is jsut pure luck thatwe can stay in this place until we both recover" she said "also I'll need to get some food soon, I know where I stored some near here" she said not telling him that last time she almost got caught there as well.

Chase couldnt help but give a goofy grin when she frowned and shook her beautiful head. To anserw her question he smiled "You know what you could do, you could just agree with me that with your high fevers you are worse off, you can die from that, all that is wrong with me is that I can not see all that well"

He shook his head. "If it climbs too much higher I will be taking the compress and holding it to you" He winced slightly as she pressed the compress a bit harder but he had a feeling it was punishment

When she made her last comments Chase nodded. "We are lucky, he then looked at her, "Do you really think you should be going anywhere alone?"

Ren frowned slightly as she pulled her hand away once more from the compress "No it's not and I won't die from a high fever ok?" she said "and yes I'll be perfectly fine" she said completely determined that he would just agree eventually...maybe. She sighed adn nudged him softly "Your just over worrying ok, I'll be fine and i know you'll be since your already arguing back with me" she said giggling slightly "Also not not just temperairly blind you have bruised ribs remember?" she muttered before she sat up "Honestly I'll be back in a little bit ok?" she asked and Cass growled and forced her to sir back down whining.
"Cass your getting worse than Cody now" she said giving a sigh.

Cody didnt belive that she couldnt die, he had read in a book somewhere that people had died from fevers, but he didnt want to upset her so he let it drop. He sighed and looked up at her. "Fine I will stop worring about it" He smiled then thought to himself for now. He didnt dare say it though.

When she mentioned his ribs he shrugged "I dont think its the frist time" He then sighed as she stood. "I guess there is no talking you out of it, just be safe and come back quickly" He chuckled when Cass whined "See she doesnt like your state either"

She sighed and pusehd Cass off her before standing up again and tying her daggers adn guns back around her waist. "She I won't get myself killed and I'll be back soon" she said and walked out before either of them could stop her and Cass whinned still as she left and reached the food source which wasn't overly far away either.
When she found the old freezer she had fixed she searched around in it for something they could eat for the next few days being careful with what she picked as well.

After she had picked somethign decent she stuffed it in her pouch and headed back a few hours later she arrived back "See, I wasn't there for very long" she sat and back down beside him and tugged bits of his hair.

Cody didnt like letting her leave but in his condtion he wasnt able to do much. The first little bit that he was gone he simply petted Cass and tried to do little excercises but wanted to keep it to a mimnial he didnt know if they were being watched.

As the time grew longer he grew more nervous and paced for a bit but that began to hurt so he sat back down and waited. When he heard a noice he froze, he couldnt see anywhere to hide so just held his breath waiting to fight to the death if needbe if it was someone bad.

When he relized it was Ren he smiled "Your back" He shook his head "You were gone a long time, I got scared" He admitted. Ashamed.

She gave a sheepish grin and pecked his cheek "Sorry, guess my times a bit odd at the momment as well" she said and stroked Cass "and you don't have to act ashamed for being scared we all are, I just.. I just don't show it as much" she said sitting back down picking out some food from her pouch.
"Did you try moving round a little?" she asked him noticing a few dusty footprints and waited for an answer her head coekd to one side resting in her palm she forwned a little releaising her temperture wasn't going down at all.

Ren heard barks and Cass growled a little. "I think they're looking for us again, hide" she said urgently picking up her heat rod and swiftly sutffing it in her bag with anything else she had messing up the fire to make it look old and finding a place to hide panicking as she looked.

"I was just worried that something had happened" He sighed as she pecked his cheek then nodded. "I did try to walk a little bit but I tired to be quiet" He then reached out and touched her "You are still not feeling better are you?"

He then sighed and shook his head. Then froze when she said hide he looked around and first found a hidding spot for her then looked himself in a giant chest that for some reason he had not seen before, he opened it quickly and grabbed the dog and closed it. He tried to holdhimself still waiting.

"I'll be fine it'll go down whena bit of time passes" she said but still lenaed into his touch a little before she hid herself quickly being careful not to make a sound hearing voices and also barks and whines she gulped nervously and waited to see if they would pass suddenly getting rather scared as well but kept it as hidden as she could.

"They were here though, look... the markings of a heat rod tha tgirl makes... her uncle used the same but seems like she firgured out all the unfinish formualas if she made that and we need to get thaat boy back, that chip is something very valuable that needed body temperature as long as it doesn't awaken it should be fine and well be able to get it back" said one of them and the other nodded.

Staying where he was hidden with Cass Cody was barely breathing he held Cass close and the little dog seemed to know that she shouldn’t move. So he kept silent too. He thought back on what Ren had said, he still didn’t think that it was good, and only wished there was like a hospital that they could go to so that she could get help. But there was nothing like that available so they would just have to make do with what they had.

He strained to hear what they were saying. He buried his face into the dogs fur and listened. He realized that they were never going to give up and they were going to be chased until they got far enough away, maybe not even then, if only there were a place where they could be safe.

Fidning nothing theyturned back but the dogs stayed a little while longer and got very close to fidning Cass and COdy but turned awaywhen Ren kicked a can and she moved ehrself quietly away from it. Theysnarled and walked off sniffing the ground.. ren just fell back with a groaned "That was close... too close.. I never thought they'd come here... Cody, Cass you two alright?" she asked looking over to where they were hiding.
Cass poked her head out and nodded "Cody, what about you?" she asked..."also we might need to get that thing out of the back of your neck" she said

Waiting for an answer she settled down but didn't bother to set up the heat rod adn didn't feel like eating at all but still ended up cleaning her guns and their chain before tending to her daggers being careful with the handles.

Cody heard them leave but there was still other sounds around he strained to hear. Then he figured out that it was dogs and he got nervous again, dogs he knew could smell better and hear better. He could tell they were super close but then a noise seemed to distract them.

Finally everyone was gone and he hear Rens voice, he stood. "I am fine" He nodded about the thing in his neck. He laid down near her and sighed. "How deep is it, I know it will hurt but can you cut it out?"

"Shouldn't be too deep, but I don't think we should leave it there any longer, Sit up and I'll try to get it out, your right it will hurt though but I'll try to be as careful and gentle as possible" she said and searched her back quickly she cleaned off a new knife she had found a pocket knife to be more precise and sat behind him moving little bits of his hair away.
She was very careful as she got the chip out trying not to hurt him at all if she could help it and Cass curled up in his lap trying to distract him a little but made sure he stayed still as well.
"Try to think of something else, that usually helps.. I've had to cut a chip out from myself before apart from this one was in my arm, thinking of something else should help divert the pain a little" she said. She could see the chip sicne it was only just under his skin so she didn't have to go very deep which she was relived about.
She carefully pulled it out and quickly applied pressure using some medical cotton to stop the bleeding. "You ok, it might sting a little but that chip was active as well, I can plant it somewhere in another building later on" she said softly.

Although he was sure it would be eaiser if he laid down while she cut it out he nodded and sat up. He wasnt looking forward to the pain, but the tracking device needed to be cut out if they were ever going to be even just a little bit safe.

Cody took Cass in his arms and held her petting her gently as he felt the chip cut away he winced slightly and then sighed as he felt the pressure on it. "Good job" He said through clenched teeth.

"It's fine" she said keeping pressure on the back of his neck where the chip was until the bleeding had stopped and then bandaged it up. "There we go, shouldn't take too long ot heal at all by the times those bruises are down it should be almost healed" she said and smiled. "How are they anyway?" she asked smiling a little and hugged him a little just glad that they had escaped them again and didn't have to go back there.

Cass barked and nodded confortable getting all the attention making Ren laugh.
