Adriana glanced to him. She took the plaid and blushed. "oh okay," she replied softly. She tried to put it on, but couldn't figure out which way it went. She didn't understand why she needed to wear it, but it seemed important to him so she didn't argue.

Rolling his eyes heaven word he took the material and folded it and then pinned it. "See" He saidgruffly. He then stood and looked at her, "You will tell me whats wrong and what has been troubling you" He then offered his arm to lead her to breakfast. "I will find out Lady Adriana I am a very pigheaded man or so I have been told"

Adriana flushed when he helped her. "thank you," she replied softly. His demand caused her to raise an eye brow. Well, that tone certainly would not get him anywhere. She took his arm. "I am just as stubborn and I will not tell you any thing. There is nothing wrong, anyway."

Alec stared at her and raised an eyebrow. "So that tells me there is something" He lead her into the keep and nodded to his men who all stood when he Adriana entered. "Men lets eat"

He sat down and started to eat watching for Adriana reactions. There was no ale right now, just Mead he wanted to see her reaction.

Adriana frowned at him. He was persistent in believing something was wrong. Her gaze shifted to the men when they stood up as she entered the keep with Alec. She sat down, and ate slowly, her gaze focused on her plate, trying hard to ignore the mead the men drank. She tried hard to keep from looking uneasy.

During the morning meal Alec kept a close eye on Adriana, even with just the mead being served she seemed uneasy. Only the years of training could pick up on it. But all his men did and all looked to him. Alec simply shook his head, he would find out later, but he had a feeling it was something big and he didnt want to embarrass her infront of his men.

After it was done he stood. "Conner accompy me outside" He left without saying good bye and walked outsie with Conner, his men immeditally followed. "Alec" One spoke. "If this is about the Lady Adraina I do belive we are allin this together" Alec smiled, it seemed that Adriana had won his mens hearts already.

"Conner what is the matter with Adriana, what did your wife tell you"

Adriana sat there, frusterated with herself for feeling uneasy about the men drinking mead around her. She did not really know them, but none of them seemed to be anything like her uncle. Her gaze watched Alec walk off with his brother. She sat there in silence, for a few moments before getting up and heading to Annora's room. Talking care of the child was better than sitting there, feeling frightened and uneasy.

Outside Alec was standing with his legs braced apart his hands clasped behind him awaiting Connors explaination.

"I do not know if Adriana will want you know all of it, but my wife tells me her uncle treated her something poorly when he was drunk" It took all the dicipline in his body for Alec not to yell out.

He simply nodded. "I see, well it is decided, she isnt going back" Connor stared at him "It could mean a war" Alec nodded "Aye it will"

Little Annora brightened as soon as she saw Adriana, she still was refusing the slop that was tring to be fed to her, it was grey mush but little annora reached for Adriana.

Adriana smiled softly as she approached the child. "Hi, sweetheart." She picked up Annora as the child reached for her. "What's this being fed to you?" she asked softly, peering at the grey mush curiously.

The woman looked at her and frowned. "I dont like it either mi lady" She paused. "I figure the young one is healthy enough to try some weak broth, but this is what the doctor ordered, I have to admit I tried some once and was sick for a week"

She looked at him. "I know its a lot to ask, but I have been ordered not to feed her anything else...but" she trailed off she was trying to say that since Adriana was English she could ask or do it with less fear of getting hell.

Adriana glanced to the woman. "You can ask me, I don't bite," she replied softly. "I only wish to help Annora and get her healthy so she can grow up big and strong." It was important to her to help the child get better. Just as it was as important to get Alec to love his daughter and bond with her.

The woman smiled "Oh I am not worried about you, I know that Young Annora here just needs some broth, then work up from that, Alec just has all his trust in the doctor, he is trying to do good, well good as he sees it."

She sighed "What I was thinking that you could give it to here, because unlike me, you dont know the docotors orders, just a thought though you dont have to, it could upset Alec untill he sees the improvments"

Adriana nodded. "I can give her broth. I'll deal with Alec if he objects," she stated softly. Alec didn't frighten her, with all his gruffness. She would go as far as she needed to, to help Annora.

The woman smiled. "Good" She ruffled little Annoras hair gently. "She is a little Angel" Annora giggled then coughed. The woman simply sat her up and lifted an arm. "Good thing the doc didnt hear that it would be leeches on her chest for that."

"The Doc would put leeches on her?" Adriana frowned, deeply. Leeches were terrible creatures, gross and slimy. Why would a doctor want to put them on a child? More and more, she was finding she did not like this doctor.

"The doctor thinks that Annora is E-V-I-L she spelled out slowly so Annora wouldnt hear it. "Since her M-O-M" She paused "well you know during the well you know" She sighed. "The doctor is muchly feared but Alec isnt home much to find out"

"oh dear." adriana was going to convince Alec to let the doctor go completely. "well then, Annora, that mean ol' doctor will not come near you if it's the last thing I do," she swore to the little lady. "now what do you say we get some yummy broth for you tummy?"

Annora looked at her and her big blue eyes whelled up. She didnt speak much but it was clear that she was a bit scared still. She didnt like the doctor. She looked up at Adraina when the broth was brought up. She nodded, wanting to please the nice lady that did so much for her.

Adriana picked up Annora and took her over to a chair where she sat with the child in her lap. Shehad the broth set on a table beside her. Taking a spoon full of broth, she presented it to Annora's lips.

Annora smiled up at Adriana as she was placed in her lap she sipped some of the brooth and her face light up. She made a grunt as if to ask for more. The woman smiled and nodded. "I be thinking that what she needed"

Alec had walked inside and too his daughters room he looked in and was about to demand why she wasnt being fed the stuff the doc said she needed but backed off when it seemed Annora was accepting it, she would be getting an earful from him later though.

"Lady Adriana when you are down met me in the courtyard" It wasnt said as a request or a question but a demand. Then he turned on his heels and was gone.

Adriana smiled softly and offered another spoonful to Annora. When Alec came into the room, she looked up to him. She had braced herself, expecting to hear him demanding and asking why Annora wasn't being fed the gross stuff. But he didn't. Instead he demanded her to meet him in the courtyard. He was rather frusterating when he was all demanding.

Alec was pacing in the court yard waiting for Adriana return. He had so much to tell her, she was not to disobey him like that, he was suppose to ask premission for everything she did it was just the way things were done.

He looked around. His land had almost recovered from the attack, he rubbed his temple. There was much to do still, he hadnt been Laird long and was the youngest in a long time.

He turned around getting impatient for her to get there.

With a sigh, Adriana handed annora to one of the women. As much as she'd like to make Alec wait for a long time, she did not know what would happen if he got angry. "I'll be back soon, little Annora," she told the child. Then she left and went to go face Alec in the courtyard.

Little Annora fussed a little when Adriana left but since she was being held again she settled down and continued to eat until her eyelids grew heavy and she laid back down.

In the courtyard Alec faced her. His stomach tightened at the sight of her in his colours. He was driving him to distraction, as she walked out all his men stopped what they were doing to stare. Alec scowled at them.

He walked to her and stood there with his legs braced about and his arms glasped behind his back, "What were you feeding my- Annora" He stopped to stare at her. "The doctor ordered that she only be fed what he had brought, that her little stomach couldnt handle anything more"

Adriana glanced to Alec as she approaved hhim. Then came his question she was waiting for. "it was just broth. It's lighter than that slop the doctor wanted to eat. She accepted the broth a lot better." her gaze anrrowed on him. "you may call her your daughter."
