Feeling her sweet kiss on her head, Daniel knew that he couldn't do anything... still, he wanted to help... but... he needed rest... he felt the wear on his body... she promised everything would be fine. He watched her walk away. She was so strong, a great pack leader. He closed his eyes. Daniel needed to prove his worth and show that the first time he helped, wasn't just a fluke.

Outside things were on edge. The pack knew that there was a danger keeping Daniel human but no one wanted to put him through the pain of the change. No one wanted to defy the alpha. Lith talked with the men, One man went inside to rest and she took his spot on a rock.

Daniel slipped to sleep, this time a dreamless peaceful sleep, his worries, they were still there, but knowing that she was protecting him... the pack was under her leadership, he felt safe in an odd way. Like someone was truly with him... like he finally belonged.

The man who went inside sat next to Daniel and watched him sleep. Lith took in the fresh air then turned to two men. She nodded to them and the three got up changed and took off into the night. She stretched her legs, let her muzzle catch the air and her pads softly sink into the ground. The three wolves ran a circuit around the cave slowly winding it out to see who else was in the area. The moon shon upon them. Children of the moon. She sighed and wished Daniel could run with them. One of the others licked her muzzle and reassured her that Daniel would be fine under the eyes of the pack. They were good boys. Like brothers.

Daniel slept soundly for the rest of the night. However, he wished that he could have been with her, running under the light of the moon, the dim, yet beautiful light shining down upon both of them as they ran... but he knew... she wouldn't change them, it was a fantasy... sadly it couldn't be anything more.

She ran a while longer making sure the area was secure. She returned to the cave where she changed, dressed and sent the man outside to reclaim her place next to Daniel. She curled up next to him feeling his warmth against her and fell asleep.

Daniel woke a bit late the next morning, but he felt much better, the rest helped him heal quickly, he was close to being at one hundred percent. He felt someone next to him, he didn't need to even look over to see her, he could smell her scent. He turned slightly and looked at her, simply taking her in. He only wished he could be a shapeshifter along with her so he could give her something that she just longed for. So he could run under the moon with her, under the stars, with nothing but the night with them...

She felt eyes on her but couldn't open her own. She was tiered from her run. She awoke a little later and stretched. "How are you feeling?" she said checking for a fever. She thought about him as a shape shifter. Would he look, smell, feel the same?

"I'm feeling better... much better actually." he told her with a small smile. "If... it wasn't for you and the pack, I would have... well... changed... but... I don't think I would have minded that fate." he said honestly. "Still... I am glad that you care about me so much." he said. "How you took care of me... how you lead this pack... You are wonderful." he said.

She looked down. "I'm sorry... I was just so afraid you could lose yourself to the beast. I wouldn't want to lose you like that..." she said thinking of people she knew whom had met that fate. She smiled at him. "It's my duty and pleasure to look after you... The pack... well they are all brothers. Bound by Blood I guess..".

Daniel smiled at the though. Being bound by blood to the pack... still, she didn't want to lose him that way, having him fully become a beast, something mindless... he though of her, how she would suffer if she caused him that fate. She didn't seem to mind looking after him. "I guess you don't mind looking after a pup like me... Sorry... I tend to get into a lot of trouble..." he said bringing a hand up to her, holding her slightly.

She laughed softly. "I'll look after the pup" she said ruffling his hair. "I bet you don't get into the trouble the boys do" she said gesturing the entrance. She smiled feeling his hand hold her, her hand moved to his cheek and caressed it softly.

"I don't know... I get into quite a bit of trouble..." he said smiling. He felt her hand on his cheek, caressing him. It felt nice. He moved a bit closer, he kissed her lightly on the lips. "Thanks though, still... I promise that I will not be a waste to you... or the pack. I will be a good member here... as soon as I fully recover... I want to help..." he said.

"So can the boys" she said. He moved closer and their lips brushed. She smiled. "I'm sure you wont be a waste. Just tell me if the boys get into mischief. I know you want to help. They know that also" she said.

Daniel nodded. "I can do that... but still, what type of things do the boys get into?" he asked. "Surely they cant be that bad." he laughed. He wondered what kind of trouble shapeshifters get into. He remained close to her though, he felt like he couldn't be without her right now.

"Depends what forms they are in. Wolf forms they fight over food like children and once when we were out they stole cattle and made to much fuss in a pub. Then they were chased back into the woods where they were found by the Vamps again." she said with a laugh. "you probably heard the tales of them when you were out and about" she said. "They aren't to bad. Just gotta keep an eye on them from time to time. You should see them around a women" she laughed.

Daniel laughed, they sounded like they had some troublemakers around. But still, it would keep things from getting boring. Daniel was curious though. "What do you mean? They seem to be alright around you." he asked. Curious about how males of the pack acted around members of the opposite sex. Still, he would keep an eye on them, try to help at least, maybe keep them from being too wild when in human form.

She laughed again. "Me? I'm just like a brother. One or two of them tried to get close a long time ago but we are all so close it's like we're related. Coven shut them up fast" she said her smile fading a little. "Don't you worry. We'll keep an eye on them. keep them under control" she said with a smile.

Coven... that was another thing that was bothering him. "Coven... he was meant to be your mate at one point wasn't he?" Daniel asked. "Did... you ever feel anything for him?" he asked again. "I'm... sorry if I'm prying into anything personal... I just... well... want to know more about you... more about our situation, what our pack is going through.

"Yes... They believed if we had children we could strengthen the blood lines." She looked across at Daniel. "No. He put the beast and himself before the pack and me." she said. "It's ok... Our pack is finding it hard with Coven creating new creatures. They are lost. Pure beast. He can't create another me. I'm the only female till I bight someone else or another is born."

Daniel looked to her, listening intently... Coven... creating more lost beasts. "Have... you ever considered finding another mate... you are not that old you know..." he said looking into her eyes. If he had the chance, he would be her mate in a second. He thought very highly of her.

Daniel moved forward a bit more. A warm smile on his face. "I would be honored." he said. "Of course I will be your mate." he said before kissing her, this time a bit more. He broke it off with a small laugh. "Of course, if you don't mind being with a pup like me." he said

She smiled. "The honor is mine" she said before he kissed her. She placed a hand on his cheek as he did so. She looked at him funny when he broke the kiss and started laughing. She laughed to. "A pup soon grows up" she said tapping his nose with a finger.

Daniel smiled at her response, it made him feel better, maybe she saw some potential in him, something that most people over looked. Anyone who hired him to do an odd job just seen him as a man that could hold a sword... they never actually knew him. Now... he felt close to someone. He began one more kiss, holding it for a while with her, wanting to taste her on his lips once more before he rose up for the day. He was feeling better, he just needed some fresh air.
