Nicolas looks at her a moment and shakes his head. He says, "I tried to get the heaters to work earlier this week just to see if they worked. Didn't budge. And nobody can come out and fix them for another 2 weeks. So we're on our own for heat." Nicholas made his way to the fireplace and when to work trying to heat the place up more.

Nathan looks at Sora with a smile. He says, "I will be fine. I am more concerned about you and Rose. The only two girls that matter to me in the world."

"That isn't very good" she sighed and helped with trying to get the fire to warm up more. "They should really try and sort such waiting lists out quickly especially in this weather" she sighed and made some of the kids go to their rooms so they could snuggle up under their quilts, much warmer than the blankets and would keep them warmer. "Those duvets should keep them warmer than the fire at the moment" she said to him.

Sora smiled "You can be so very sweet Nate" she smiled and hugged him tightly, her wings moving around him as well. "I love you so much Nate" she said softly drifting a little but snapped awake when she realised it. "Have you told Rose yet?" she questioned him quietly. "And we'll need to tell the others so when she is ready she doesn't go up for adoption" she said softly.

Nicholas agreed with her for the most part and did his best to get warm for everyone. He got an idea to make this fun even though it was cold. He made the blankets and pillows into a fort and the children begin to play and laugh pretending that they were hiding from Indians in the Old West and other sorts of people. Nick laughed along with them. He was glad that he could make them smile and forget.

Nathan shook his head a little. He says, "I wasn't able to tell her yet. She's been asleep. And I did not want to wake her up since she is already so sore." He kisses her softly and makes his way to Rose slowly. He was worried that she would get too cold.

Keita watched and laughed a little as she watched them all playing around soon joining in and helping with building other forts. "Well they're definitely warm that's for sure" she laughed and hugged one of the sickest of them in her wings and watched as the others messed around' "Careful not to knock.." the fort fell onto of them and they all burst out laughing.

"We can tell her when she wakes up, it'll be something for her to be happy about that's for sure and it'll encourage her to get through this mutation" she nodded and kissed his cheek, she followed him and shook her head "I'm pretty sure she's warm enough Nate" she whispered sitting in the chair beside the bed.

Nicholas helped the kids rebuild the fort and then told the children stories of the Old West and old battle stories. They seemed to really like being who they are in the stories. The girls wanted to hear stories about princesses and love so he would make up stories about Indian princesses and how they would settle disagreements with their wisdom and beauty. Showing the girls that a woman can be beautiful but independent at the same time.

Nathan blushed some as he realized he was hovering again. He got away from the bed and sat down in a chair to help himself calm down. "I can't help but worry. Since I met her I have felt like a daddy to her."

Keita helped smiling a little as she sat and listened to the stories and soon ended up telling a few herself as well although she was making them up as she went along really using the image of indian princesses as well before she got an idea and got up whispering "I have an idea… don't we have a Pocahontas DVD?" she asked him. "They'll love that, I'll set it up for them and they can watch it from within the fort" she grinned and got to work setting it up for the kids.

Sora laughed a little before kissing him again "So sweet and I did say you would make a good dad someday" she said softly to him. "I never thought I'd really have a family since i had to sleep so much in the past, I'm still amazed by how tolerant of me you were as well. Also another thing that makes you a good father is that you feel safe, you just have that atmosphere around you that can make anyone feel like nothings going to happen when your there" she frowned struggling to explain it properly.

Nick kept the kids busy until she was done getting the DVD ready. The kids were easy to make happy. He says to Kat, "I am glad to see the kids happy. They are just children and they should not have to worry about anything but kid stuff."

Nate looks at Sora with a smile. "I understand what you are trying to say." He kisses her softly. "You were hard to handle at times but that's okay. Like I said I have loved you for a long time." He kisses her nose. "We both know that I have been harsh from time to time too."

She soon sorted the DVD out and smiled as he kids watched it with fascination and enjoyment, the boys clearly liking the indains vs other people side and the gils liking the princess of the film a lot as well making Keita smiled and moved to sit next to Nick "This film is defiantly a keeper" she laughed.

Sora smiled and kisses him back "Yeah, but you were easy to deal with" she smiled. "and there are plenty of other sides as well such as the sweet man you are to the animal that you can be" she whispered and nipped his ear gently teasing a little with her last words. She had found it rather entertaining to try and get him blushing.

Nick looks at her with a smile and nods in agreement. Her eyes drew him in again. He strokes her cheek and kisses her lips. "Yes the movie is a keeper." He was glad to have her back. "If you do not mind me asking, do you have the dream about seeing the world and spending your days with me?" When they were young, he would promise to take her to Paris and other places around the world.

Nate strokes her cheek and says, "Yeah well there are many sides to people." He gave her a soft playful growl at her last statement. "Hey you know that you liked it." He kisses her lips.

Keita thought a moment kissing him back "Well spending my days with you is a question you shouldn't have to ask, of cruse I'll spend my days with you as for travelling you referring to al those promises of paris and other places you made when we were little?" she asked him smiling a little "I would like to travel at some point though, see the world and learn about different cultures and places"

Sora laughed and kissed him back again "Yep I did but it is fun to tease you a little" she laughed still "and I more than sure you enjoyed yourself as well" she stuck her tongue out at him cheekily and nipped his ear again playfully. Glad that he got her small joke at least and making her smile.

Nick took her in his arms and nodded. "You will get to see all the places I promised to take you and more. I always keep my promises." He was going to say more but a loud thump interrupted him. He looks to see what is going on and sees that Matthew was starting fights again. But this time it looked like he had chose the wrong kid to pick on. Yuki the smallest of the bunch knocked Matthew into the wall and went back to watching the movie. He did not look to happy that he got his butt kicked by a girl.

Nate smiled and picked her up. He carried her to their room. He knew that their room had its own fireplace so they could keep warm. He places her on the bed and starts a fire in the fireplace. He then went to Rose's room and after a few minutes, he had wheeled sleeping Rose in there too. This way he could keep an eye on both of the girls.

Keita turned to look tot he two fighting and told them off before looking up and smiling as she leaned back into him "You were saying?" she questioned him a sweet smile on her lips before her attention turned to the kids watching the movie glad they were enjoying it.

Sora shook her head laughing a little before watching as he went out and came back with Rose "You need to stop randomly picking people up mister" she said tapping his nose before helping with the fire place and gave a slight yawn. She looked to Rose smiling "Well she'll be happy alter on that's for sure" she laughed.

Nick looks at the kids a moment before saying, "I was saying that I will be taking you away like I promised. There are no labs in Texas so we won't need to stay there all the time. We could go on vacations throughout the year." He strokes her cheek and kisses her softly. "So we will get to see all the places you want to see." He groans as Matthew will not leave Yuki alone. "Matthew quit baiting Yuki Now!" Matthew glares at him and keeps doing it.

Nate looks at Sora with a calm smile. He helps her get back into bed. "I like carrying you. Always have. You know that." He covers her up and makes sure that the fire can't cause any problems. Then he made sure that Rose was comfortable before getting into bed with Sora.

Keita sighed and looked to him "Matthew carry on like that and i'll freeze you're feet where you stand" she said bluntly, she couldn't actually do it but hoped it would be enough to deter him from baiting Yuki. "Just sit down and watch the movie ok?" she spoke softly and gently to him.

Sora sighed "More like you most likely had to" she frowned and moved one of her warm wings over him "Your such a cheeky boy and you know it as well" she sighed and kissed his lips gently smiling.

Matthew did not stop messing with Yuki. He was really testing his luck today. Nicholas has been doing all he could do not to strangle him. Yuki on the other hand has had enough of his bullying other people. So she slowly gets up and smack him across the face so hard that it knocks him out cold. Clearly she did not like to be messed with. Nick does all he could not to laugh at this. It wasn't very often that a girl could be that tough at such a young age.

Nathan was not sure how to respond to her. It took him a minute to come up with a response that she could understand. "I have never had to carry you around. I've always wanted to. The only time that I've needed to carry you is after our first fight together when we woke up in our siblings bodies. I nearly killed you. And I felt so bad afterwards I didn't know what to do with myself. When we got separated, I felt worse."

Keita looked a little surprised but smiled and then put a pillow under Mathews head and made Yuki sit back down to watch the movie. "We really need to talk to him separately next time" she frowned and looked to Nick for his reply.

"well you've done that plenty of times now" she said to him "To be honest I don't think me or Keita even recognized you or Nick at the time so all is near enough forgotten" she said to him "and I think the separated thing might be due to the fact you were my sleeping pillow for some time, you got so use to me just clinging onto you maybe?" joking with him a little and hugged him gently as she moved her arms around him.

Nick did not have any sympathy for the boy. Matthew has been warned many times not to mess with anything or anyone. He understood the child had a lot of anger in him but he could not use it as an excuse to hurt someone else. "One of us eventually will get through to the boy. Until then we just have to be patient with him."

Nathan looks at her with a smile not ashamed to admit that what she was saying was true. He had gotten used to holding her. "Well, I admit that is true. I got used to holding you at night. Reassuring you everything's going to be okay." He holds her close to him and holds her hands gently.

[Rose for the Hunter]

Keita nodded "Eventually" she sighed. She soon and to get up and prepared for dinner handing out warm bowls of soup to everyone and Matthew when he did eventually wake up. She also took some up for those upstairs and then came back downstairs to eat with Nick and the others.

Sora smiled and squeezed his hand gently "Yeah I remember that much at least" she said to him and snuggled into him "Well everything has turned out ok so you were right after all" she smiled and kissed him gently once more, she was in a rather good mood after all it'd been such a good day.

Nick helps her with dinner and then gets the kids a good spot to sit and eat that was still close to the fire so they can stay warm. "All these kids have been through a lot. And it is going to be hards for the boys to talk about what has happened to them." He looks at Matthew. "He had a lot of abusive behavior done to him before the labs took him. He is more damaged than the others."

A few hours pass, Rose wakes up with a whimper. Nate gets out of bed and picks her up. He feels her back and can tell that her mutation was inches away from going through her skin. She says softly, "I'm thirsty." He carries her down to the kitchen and gets her a glass of water.

"That is true" she said thinking "Guess we need to prove that we're not going to hurt him huh?" she said thinking a moment on what to do "Well his trust is clearly harder to gain, so… why don't you have a shot, you have a better chance than me since your a man after all, guys can open up to those they consider close" she said to him, "A lot of us here are some of the first parent figures these kids have known so you should have a go with Matthew, maybe by playing his favourite game with him?" she suggested.

Sora had drifted off in that time but moved as she felt Nate get up and looked to Rose hoping the mutation was going ok. When they came back she went to hold Rose instead and sat down on the bed with her in her lap as she drank her water looking to Nate "You want to explain?" she asked him softly.

Nick looks at her and says calmly, "I can try and bond with him. But I have been better known to help girls." He looks at him a moment before picking him up and putting him closer to the fire. He did not feel right with this boy. He could feel the anger boiling inside the little boy. He felt bad for the boy. He understood the anger and fear in trusting people.

Nate looks at Rose a moment, "Rosie you know that Sora and I care for you right?" She nods slowly and says, "Yes why?" He says, "Well that is good. Because Sora and I adopted you." Rose looks at the both of them in shock. "Really? You are my mommy and daddy? I don't have to part from you?"

Keita thought a moment and walked off for a bit and finding a spare rom she got to work on something she thought wouldn't just help Matthew but possible some of the other kids as well" she made sure the room was completely padded and then got to work on some other parts as well.

Sora smiled and nodded at her question "Yeah, you could say that" she said to her knowing she'd have to get used to Rose calling her mommy and Nate most likely with her calling him daddy. She moved to kiss Rose's head gently her wings still resting around Rose gently as well.

Nick follows her confused on what she was doing. Things like padded rooms made him feel uneasy. He put a few blankets in each padded room so that the kids would feel safe inside there. Matthew and the other children would need quiet places to relax.

Nate looks at Rose as she giggled happily. He watched as she nestled into Sora's arms and went to sleep again. He says to Sora, "She seems to be happy. As far as her mutation, it goes through her entire body. It is a form of armor." He sighs softly.

[Rose for the Hunter]

"It's a place where they can get all their anger out" she explained "Without hurting themselves of course" she said to him "So don't look so uneasy" she smiled and kissed his cheek gently. Sora nodded "Well she's defiantly happy" she laughed "and that's a very useful mutation" she said and looked to him kissing his cheek gently and leaning against him softly.

Later that day the two girls met up "Definitely been a busy day hasn't it?" asked Keita "Yep, definitely been busy and very eventful. To the point ti seems even we forgot our own birthday" she laughed ruffling erg warm wings. "Looks like those two have as well unless they're being crafty and acting like they have" Sora held her head "Somehow… with at least one of them I can see that being the case no so sure on the other one" It was Keita and Sora's birthday but everything had been so busy and eventful, it had almost slipped even their minds.

Nick and Nate had not forgotten about the girls' birthday. They just wanted to wait until the kids were settled it. They wrapped their gifts with ribbons and bows. Nick made Kat a heart shaped locket. Gold witha blue rose in the center that matched the color of her wings. Nate had made Sora a music box to help her sleep when he cannot always be by her side. Gold and red to represent his undying love for her. They both went to the girls and give them their gifts blushing deep red. "Happy birthday..."
