"If you do not know him, I'm afraid I cannot tell you." she said, standing. "It also answers the other questions I had, so I suppose I'll be on my way now." she stretched her muscles quickly, glad to be done here. She still found it very strange that he actually had so much silver here. It was definately odd, but in this day and age, people would no doubt pay good money for it. "Thank you for your time, Jason. Sorry to have bothered you." He seemed nice enough, but there was something about his reaction to the photo that bothered her.. If she had any hard proof on him, she would definately be back. She made her way to the door, slipping the photo back into her purse.

"Well again I am sorry I could not help you miss. I hope that you get your man." he told her and escorted her to the door and seen her out. Once she was out he shut the door, then turned and barely moved the curtains so he could see what she was doing. He would wait till she left and then he would see about someone tailing her for a while. He watched to make sure she went to her car before turning on the TV and watching the news to see if there was anything on the explosion.

He knew the directorate would cover it up the best they could, say it was a car bombing, probably gang related or something like that. He would get the report on how many they got with the bomb. More of the non human trash taken care of.

It was about that time that Hannibal called Riley. "What the hell is going on. First Jason is shot, then four more of our guardians were caught in an explosion when the car blew up. Two of them are dead and the other two seriously injured with one we don't know if he is going to make it. What the hell are you doing? Is this the work of Anubis?"

Riley hadn't even started up the car yet when Hannibal called. "You actually think I would murder our own people?" she sat back in the seat, looking back at Jason's house to see the glow of the television. Car explosion... it must have happened in the past half an hour. "Anubis has nothing to do with it, for one, and another thing, I've been trying to interview people on the hunters case." she wasn't sure of what else to say, so she turned on the engine and turned up the heat, waiting for the car to warm up. She still had a couple of other places to go... one of them was one place she really didn't want to go right now... especially with so many people wanting to keep an eye on her. "You didn't give me something to work on, so I figured I'd take my own steps." she said finally, not impressed at all with his shouting in her ear. Then something clicked... Jason was shot... Jason... the same man that she had just spoken to... Perhaps they just coincidentally had the same name... Had she actually gotten the wrong name? Or, perhaps this was something much deeper... she had to go back into that house... As much as she didn't want to, she had to ask more questions.

"Hunter Case? That is for the human deparment of the directorate. Let them handle it. I want you on Anubis." he did not sound pleased that she was working on a case that she had not been told to do. "I need him watched and if he makes a move for you to report it to me."

Jason kept an eye on the car Riley came in. He could see it now from a small speration of the curtains on the front window as he sat on the couch. It did not seem she was leaving and he wondered if she was going to try something else. He didn't want to kill her, he needed to get to Anubis and she was his only lead at the moment. He made his phone call to have one of the other hunters in the area to tail her.

As he finished watching some news and it only had a little about the car explosion. He would have to wait for the report that he knew he would get on the damage it had done from those that were involved in it. But now it was time for him to assume his role as Alan Tremaine the Master Hunter again. He had another quary to eliminate. He took out the paper from his coat pocket and opened it, smiling. Detailed information on another vampire, he read the information and chuckled as he saw it was on directorate letterhead. "Fools don't even know."

"How the hell is it a human case, Jack?" Riley all but snapped, "They're the ones who killed Jason and the others!" even though she had no proof, she had no doubt in her mind that that was who had killed them. "Anubis would be at his house right now. I know he's not the one who did it." she said, still watching the hunter's house, still contemplating whether or not to go back in. She hadn't even thought to use her telepathy to see if the man was telling the truth or not... the silver had distracted her... She would still continue the hunters case, just not under Jack's knowledge...

With one last look he rose and went to the back door and out of the house to his car. Driving through the ally he would come out on another street and not be seen by Riley. Once he had taken care of his target he would find out where Riley was from the one tailing her and then, hopefully find out where Anubis was. It was getting dark so he had to hurry if he was to get there before the vampire woke from his sleep during the day and went out among the humans.

He enjoyed his work. The church had given him purpose and a way of life by training him to kill non humans. To rid the world of all the non humans, that threatened the exsistance of mankind was something he seemed to have been born to do. It came so easy to him. Where others hesitated, he pushed in and got the job done.

Hannibal was not done talking to her though. "Damn it Riley. I just got word that you are in an area that the human portion of the directorate is investigating some one. You are to leave now before you blow their investigation."

Anubis was getting a bit worried about Riley. Especially with a master hunter out there that seemed to have it in for her. What was she working on that would take her so long. He took out his phone tempted to call her, but he did not want to look as if he was checking up on her.

Riley refrained from telling him off, and simply said, "Will do." and hung up without giving him another chance to say anything, and took Anubis' call. "Sup, sweet cheeks?" she answered, finally pulling out of the parking space and starting her way back to Anubis' place, unaware that she was being followed. If Jason truly was the master hunter... he had done a fine acting job. She couldn't wait to confront him if her senses were correct. Then she got into thinking about Hannibal having people follow her. She drove out of the area Hannibal mentioned was on someone else's investigation, and headed downtown to her favourite coffee pub, Chiquita's. "I said I'd call you when I'm on my way back." she reminded him, assuming something had gone wrong.

He had not wanted to call her but he had dialed her number automaticly it seemed. "Just had an odd feeling something might be wrong. Probably just nothing but also wanted you to know I will be heading out to meet with a few prospects." He was waiting for his contact to show up so he could let him in and introduce him to Rhoan, which he probably already knew but one never knew. Jack had already sent him some information to his cell phone and he was going to check them out.

His first prospect was a vampire named Angelo Wainright. He was about a hundred years old now, and had been a vampire for about seventy years. Like most of those of the day he shuned sunlight and only came out at night. Working a shift that would bring him back home before the sun rose. Tonight he would have to call in for Anubis wished to talk to him and hopefully get him to join the cause.

"Well then I will see you back at the mansion tonight then." he tried to smile but couldn't. He hung up the phone and met Jack at the door. He quickly took him up to see Rhoan. "Well I don't know if you two have met at the Directorate, but this is Abe Jackson, who I just call Jack." he looked at Rhoan to make sure there were no problems between the two. "He will be staying here for a day or two till I get things arranged at the base of operations I have bought." He then took Jack to another room that would be his for the couple of days. Then he left and drove to the address he had on Wainright.

Jason or better known as Alan to the hunters, pulled up to the abandoned factory where his target, Wainright was to have set up his home. He put on shoulder holsters with 9mm pistols in them. They were loaded with silver bullets. Though vampires were not as sensitive to silver as lycans, it did tend to slow the process of healing on them. Across he back he slung a katana in its wooden sheath. Its blade had been folded so many times that it held the edge so well and was so sharp that it could cut through a man as if he was a stick of soft butter.

She figured that if Anubis was out for a while, she'd might as well continue what she was doing. She couldn't help but wonder about her brother, so she rang his number after hanging up with Anubis. "Just called to say hey." she said, and spoke to him about the hunters and about Anubis and the Directorate while she ate a blueberry muffin and drank some coffee. She knew she should probably get out and figure out where Anubis was going. That tracker she was supposed to place on Anubis by now would have been real handy. Rhoan had luckily heard something about where Anubis was headed, and Riley memorized it, knowing she would have to get back to the Directorate to make a search. Those Directorate vehicles were real handy in these situations. Each of them had an online board that the driver could connect to, and the onboard was connected to Directorate files, as well as other guardian cell phones.

After finishing the cellular conversation, she went back out to the Astin Martin and decided she would just call a guardian liaison and get them to send files to her cell phone. She pushed the commlink in her ear so she could communicate with an online liaison. "Hello, hello, anyone there?" she asked, and immediately got a response from one vampire she loved to piss off.

Sallianne, a vampire who was deeply in love with Hannibal. "What do you want, wolf girl? Make it quick, cause you've got everyone running around like idiots."

Riley held back her laughter and told her the information she had just received from Rhoan. Amazingly enough, she was able to get a valid address. Sallianne sent the address to Riley's cell phone. "There you go. Anything else?"

"Nope. Thanks." then she switched the commlink off again, and eventually found her way to the old factory. Strangely, the Astin Martin was not the only vehicle there. It was odd to see so many people at an abandoned factory. She blinked to her infrared vision to see just who was here. She was parked across the road from it, looking over from inside the car.

When Anubis arrived at the factory, he saw another car there. He slowly got out of his car and moved over to it and felt the hood. It was still warm, which meant someone had just arrived shortly before him. It sure the hell would not be Angelo, for he was probably just waking up and getting ready to leave. Anubis never carried guns or for that matter weapons. He used his agility, strength and other abilities to deal with hunters and others that were out to do him harm.

He had a bad feeling about the owner of the car and moved quickly to the factory and inside. The place was dark and full of the old machinery that had been its heart. He listened intently for a moment, hearing the soft foot steps of someone. Angelo would not be walking that softly in his own home turf. This was someone that did not want his presence known. Anubis changed into his wolf form and softly made his way through the machinery and towards the foot falls. His sence of smell was not very acute and he smelled the human that was up ahead.

A light came on in an upper window. It looked as if it use to be the main offices of the factory. The shadowy form of a man appeared in the white washed windows. He heard the receiver of a gun being slid back and he snarled and bolted forward. He saw the dark clad figure raising the gun up and he leaped, his body hitting the arm and making the gun go off harmlessly.

From her car with her infared vision, Riley saw all of this happening.

Riley quickly got out of the car as soon as she noticed the three traces of heat coming from inside the house. She turned on her laser gun, letting it whine while heating up before the entered the old factory. She found her way to the stairs, and stepped lightly up to the room that she assumed had Angelo inside of it. She let the two downstairs fight, hoping that the one in the room she was headed toward was indeed Angelo. She blinked back to her normal vision, and knocked lightly on the door, knowing he'd be able to hear it with his vampire senses. She held the gun at the ready, but didn't dare shoot until she knew exactly who it was. It didn't smell like Jason, and it certainly did not smell like Anubis, but she had yet to actually figure out who the master hunter was. So, she said quietly into the door, "Hello? Angelo?" she didn't want to startle him, so she kept her voice calm, casual.

"Who is there? came a mans voice. The sound of the slide of a gun being pulled back and released could be heard from with in. "What do you want?" He had heard the shot from below and now was on the defensive. From below she could hear the growl of a wolf and another gunshot. "Don't even try to come in, or I'll let you have it." came the mans voice again after he heard the second gunshot.

Below Anubis had jumped over the Alan's head and he had tried to shoot Anubis and missed. "Looks like this vampire has a pet." Alan mumbled. "Well it is soon going to be a dead one." he drew the sword and in one hand carried the pistol and the other the katana.

Anubis circled and heard what was said. A hunter and one armed like the other one that had hunted Riley. Was this the apprentice's master. Anubis crouched and on all fours slowly made his way forward. His black fur making it very difficult to see him in the dark. He sprang and clamped his jaws around the arm that held the gun, and bit down. Alan cried out in pain and surprise, and the force knocked him from his feet. Once down Anubis sprung away before Alan could bring the katana into play. Then in the darkness he changed back into his human form. He chuckled.

"Hunter, you will now be the one to be hunted by your own kind." he laughed. He had bitten Alan's arm, and did so in his wolf form. Soon he would change into a lycan, half man, half wolf. The next full moon would prove interesting. Alan would change and he could do nothing about it. But he could also learn to transform into a wolf with practice, that is if he lived long enough. Those bitten by lycans could only change into the half man half wolf form. Purebread lycans though could do both, because they were decended from those he had created.

"It's Riley from the Directorate." she answered immediately, but keeping her voice so that only Angelo would hear her. "You've heard of hunters, correct?" she asked, keeping her voice low so that nobody else would hear her. She was not sure how close the other two were, so she wanted to get a move on. She could sense silver again, knowing the hunter was inside. "We should get going. I have reason to believe he is hunting you." she said, looking around the hallway, then back toward Angelo's door. She didn't want to startle him, and she was trying to best to get to his good side..

Angelo moved up to the door, his gun in hand. Still not satisfied that Riley was who she claimed to be. "Lets see some ID." he whispered. He could hear the fight going on and heard some one cry out in pain. "What's going on out there? Who else is here?" Oh he knew of the hunters. He had been lucky to be able to avoid them and hoped with registering with the Directorate that he would be safe from them. Evidently he had been wrong.

Below Alan cursed and held his bitten hand to his side. Then he heard Anubis's voice, though he did not know it was him. "What the hell." he snarled. Again Anubis laughed in the darkness of the factory.

"Well hunter, you have made your first big mistake. You have incured the wrath of one of the like you have never encountered before. He made a quick look over at where Angelo would have been in the offices of the factory. The light was now out and he did not see any movement. He slowly made his way towards that area as he heard the hunter moving this way and that trying to find him.

As he got closer, he caught the scent of Riley. He frowned. What was she doing there.

Riley immediately pulled her badge from her pocket, holding it in what light there was so he could see it clearly. "I know Anubis was coming here to speak with you, and I'm assuming the other is the hunter." she said quietly to him. "By that scream, I am also guessing that Anubis just defeated the hunter somehow, but... I'm not one to act on assumptions or guesses." she took in a long, quiet breath, slipping her badge back into her pocket once Angelo was satisfied and asked him, "Want to stick around and see what happened to the hunter, or are we escaping to a safe house? Jack always has a list of them available." she mentioned, looking down the hall again, catching the scent of Anubis, but not the hunter.

Looking at the badge, Angelo snorted. "Ok so you are from the Directorate. I thought by registering with the directorate I would be safe from all of this. Is that a bunch of crap just to gather informaion on us?" He moved out into the hall way with her. "Who is Anubis?" he asked. Meanwhile Anubis was moving closer to Riley and Angelo. He again transformed in to wolf form to give himself a lower profile and be able to move around a bit more silently. He approached the two and as he got close enough for them to see, he transformed back into his human form. "What are you doing here?" he asked Riley.

Riley saw him, even within the shadows. As he shifted, she raised an eyebrow, watching him. "I could ask you the same thing." but then looked back at Angelo, and said, "They're supposed to actually protect us, but somehow the hunters have been getting around everything they've set up." she said, then looked back at Anubis and asked, "What did you do to the hunter? Is it safe now?" she didn't bother answering Angelo who Anubis was, as she couldn't really summarize who he was just yet. Surely, they'd figure it out between themselves. Riley didn't bother waiting for an answer and strode passed Anubis, heading back the way Anubis came, almost hoping that the hunter was still down there...

Anubis shook his head, "I came looking for Angelo here. Wanting to try and recruit him for our side. Looks as if I arrived just in time." he grinned. "The hunter?" he chuckled, "I bit him in the arm. By the full moon he will have a very rude awakening." Grabbing hold of Angelo, "You had best come with us. The hunter down there may still be out to finish the job he started. "Well get you to a safe place and then out of the city. You are just going to have to trust me and Riley. She use to be with the Directorate, but not any more. They are killing our kind and giving information to the hunters on those they have locations on." He couldn't go in detail at the moment but would once they were safe.

He followed Riley out, keeping an eye out and listening. Once they reached the car the other one was not there. "You never told me why you are here." he told Riley.

"And you never told me you had your contact jamming the tracker in my ear." she said, sitting back against the seat in the back, saying nothing else. She was quite upset with him, and was having conflicting thoughts about whose side she should be taking. Anubis had just gone completely against what she had just said about the Directorate to Angelo, and she was not very impressed. She was surprised Angelo had followed them out to the vehicle... she had noticed the Astin Martin had disappeared. "Where did the car go?" she asked, noticing Anubis' car was the only one out here now.

"Tracker?" he turned and looked at her. He did not look to pleased. That was something that she had not told him when he had taken her to the mansion. He wondered if the place had been compromised. Then Jack had not told him about having one either. But having her tell him that it had been jammed was a releif. "Well for one thing I did not know you had a tracker in your ear and therefore couldn't have told my contact to jam it." he would have to talk to Jack and Riley to find out what other little surprises they had. He could see that she was upset.

As for the Astin Martin not being there, he shook his head. "I don't know. It was just the hunter in there and his car is gone. But it has a GPS I can track. But for now I think we had best get out of here." He took off and headed to the penthouse down town. "Is there a way to deactavate that tracker?" he asked her. "I am sure that by now the directorate has probably been able to reaquire the signal."

She grinned her crooked grin, slightly amused that his contact had not been completely truthful. "The only way to deactivate it, is to remove and stomp on it several times." she said, getting anxious to get back to her brother. "Even then, the signal would probably still send out, because it's so tiny." Riley took in a deep breath, trying not to get too worked up about going downtown instead of back to Anubis' place, where she would find Rhoan. "As long as I am following you, Anubis, my boss won't care. My job is to watch you." Riley explained, her frustration of lying to both of them beginning to rise. In order to keep undercover at the Directorate, she had to lie to Anubis. In order to stay on Anubis' side, however, she had to lie to Hannibal. She really hated lying. She was usually the last person you'd expect to do such a thing.

He drove to the building that contained his penthouse. "With that tracker still active it would not be wise to go back to the mansion at this time." he told Riley. He knew that for some reason she didn't quite like heights or being up in buildings to high. Hell even here would not be good if they were tracking her. So he drove off again and called Jack. "Why didn't you tell me about the trackers you guys have in you?" he was not a happy camper. "Yeah I just found out from Riley about them and that you must have jammed her signal. I need that done again and for her brother also! I don't want the mansion's location compromised. There is to much at stake here including your life, hers and her brother's. I am trusting you. You know how I don't like being lied to." He listened to Jack for a moment and then hung up.

He looked over at Angelo, "The name is Anubis. Like you I am a vampire, but a very, very old one that has a lot more abilities then you or others of our kind today. This here is Riley, she works for the Directorate, sort of." He wondered what else she was keeping from him. He had been completly honest with her and had shown her things he had not shown any other. He had given her access to the mansion and the fortune that was stored there. Yet she had concealed the fact that she had a tracker implanted in her, and probably her brother as well. Could she be trusted? He was now beginning to have his doubts.

There were many things that were preferred to be left unsaid. Riley could agree with Anubis that there was too much at stake right now. Everyone's life was in danger, and there was only so much they could do about it. Unasked questions remain unanswered, and there was a lot more to this woman than what met the eye. Even with knowing about one of her ex-lovers, Talon. Riley knew that Anubis trusted her, and she did feel bad for the things she was having to put into action right now. However, she felt that it was for the best... everyone's life will be that much safer once she's done what she has set out to do. She looked around, and asked, "Where we off to now?" she didn't quite recognize the direction, and what there was in that direction, so she figured asking wouldn't do any harm..

Anubis didn't answer. He was just driving around, basicly driving out of the city and all over to confuse the people that would be tracking Riley. Soon they were on some back roads where there was no other traffic and if anyone was following he would know it because of the headlights. It was also a back way to the mansion that he had discovered, yet it would take longer to get to it then the other way. Soon he spotted the head lights and knew they were being followed. He finally got the call back from Jack that the jamming was in progress. He stopped the car and turned off the lights, then got out of the car. Stay here with Angelo, I will deal with those that are following."

He began walking back down the road. Those following would either assume that they had been spotted and turn their lights off, or think that they had reached their destination and then proceed further and then turn out their lights. It was the latter and he smiled. He could spot where they were and move up on them in the dark. If they were guardians he would do his best not to kill them. He had basicly promised Riley he would not kill any guardians unless it was absolutely necessary. If it were hunters, he would kill them in an instance."

As he spotted the car, he moved into the trees more to keep himself into the shadows as he changed into his wolf form and moved easily up towards the car. Two people, a man and woman sat in the car. "Damn the tracker is not working. Looks like the signal is being jammed. We must be right on top of the hiding spot of Anubis." the man said. Anubis' sensitive smell told him they were not humans but shapeshifters.

They got out of the car, a big mistake, and began walking up the road. Anubis just moved quietly up behind them then changed back into his human form and as they turned hearing a sound he grabbed each by the throat, one in one hand and one in the other and lifted them up off the ground. He snarled at both of them as he applied more pressure on their throats, and they struggled. He didn't kill them, as he normally would have, but only held them till they passed out. Then he dropped them to the ground, returned to their car and found some handcuffs and took them back up to them. Handcuffing them, he grabbed hold of their clothing and drug them back up to his car and dropped them to the ground. "They are alive." he said, probably best to just leave them here." he got into the car and looked at Riley wondering if there was anything she wanted to tell him. He did not have a happy face on.

The Prince of Evil - Page 8 Empty Re: The Prince of Evil

Riley's heart was racing. She hadn't expected them to be stupid enough to actually follow them. There was definately something that she should have told Anubis... but she couldn't... not yet... not if she wanted to do her job thoroughly. As soon as Anubis had noticed they were being followed, Riley knew he wasn't going to be happy about it. She was glad that he didn't hurt them, though... at least he was a man of his word. Now she just had to show that she could be trusted... even though she really couldn't be. She'd never been very good at promises... but then again, she had never actually made any promises to him. Of course, it was common courtesy to return the favour... but still... her job got in the way of respect. It didn't leave her much room to work with for either party.

If she didn't play her cards right, she'd probably end up dead the second Anubis got her alone. Either that, or he'd figure her out somehow... she knew that he had his ways of getting information... Luckily, this was something that literally nobody else knew. It wasn't on file, it wasn't an idea between her and somebody else... Hannibal wouldn't even approve of it... The only way to find out what she was up to, was to get her talking, and Riley knew quite well that she would not succeed the second that she told him... She couldn't tell anybody for everyone's sake.

Riley shifted in her seat, trying to remain casual and calm. "I'll call somebody to drive over to them to make sure they're okay." she said, taking out her phone... despite that she had no idea where they were... "Where are we?" she asked, making sure her voice sounded kind, and hoping to hell that Anubis would answer her.
