Nick helps her make sure that the kids have an animal to draw and color. As he watched the kids have fun, it made him wish he could paint again. He smiles some and helps the younger ones draw pictures of animals and then let them go hog wild coloring the animals. He could have painted this happy scene without a problem. However, he did not have any canvases or acrylic paints. He loved to paint but he did not think he would ever get to paint again.

Keita watched him and smiled a little before tinting about the present she got him knowing he'd love it due to his own reaction of the kids doing art. She smiled and kissed him gently "I'm sure you can get supplies at the art store if you want to paint that much, I can see it on your face" she grinned.

two week later…

By this point Keita had organised everything with the others for his surprise party, she'd wrapped his present and had helped with baking a birthday cake as well as making sure he stayed aaa for breakfast and organising a time for them to meet later on when the kids were asleep. After breakfast she made sure everyone was ready by afternoon. Having spent the day keeping him away from where they were preparing the party.

Two weeks later

He stays in his room. Clearly, something was up but he knew better than to piss Kat off. Therefore, he thought it would be best to just behave himself. He rubs the back of his head and works on making some cribs for the younger babies. They were falling off their beds so if he could get them use to the bars on the bed, they would stop waking up sore and got bruises over their bodies.

It was about noon when she came to get him "Nick can you come with me for a moment?" she asked looking around for him and soon finding him making the bars for the kids who fell out of their beds a lot of the time. She waited until he was finished before taking him towards where the party was, she put a blindfold on him as well to make sure he wouldn't notice with his recently gained ability. Jumping out from behind and under things everyone shouted "Happy Birthday" when he came through and she'd taken the blindfold off smiling a little at their work still. There were some banners and a table with cake and other food. "Happy Birthday and here" she handed him his present and waited for him to unwrap it.

Nick smiles as she blindfolds him it made him a little uncomfortable considering the past they shared but he was okay with it. He jumped almost out of his skin when they all said happy birthday. But he grinned when he saw everyone was there and all the adorable decorations. “Thank you.” He looks at the present a moment. “Sneaky devil.” He slowly unwraps the gift. His eyes widen. “Thank you!”

Keita smiled "You have no idea who hard it was to hide from you that I was getting a present" she laughed a little and kissed him softly "Now then you better go and enjoy your party" she said softly knowing they'd have their own celebration later on anyway. The children handed him paintings, and small presents like a set of pencils or a birthday card they'd made. One of them had got him a sketch book of normal paper which did have a page missing since they'd used it by accident.

Nicholas spent most of his birthday just enjoying being around the kids he never asked for anything. He was a simple guy to make happy. Although he did have a very strong urge to paint and draw now that he could with all the gifts he got. He thanked each child for their gift and helped cut the cake. This is going to be interesting. It is probably going to be the first time they they had a sugar rush. Every once in awhile he would look at Kat with a smile. He couldn't remember the last time someone actually remembered his birthday.

Keita smiled and watched as some of the kids were happily munching on their first piece of cake and grinned happily as they did so. Keita thought to herself a little they'd need to find the kids birthdays out and try to do as many birthdays as possible, maybe doing some joint ones each month. Shaking her head she was helping some of them pick out the other foods, with the jam tarts she'd made earlier on being eaten up very quickly as well as cookies and some of the healthy foods like fruits too. Smiling back at him she soon went over and reminded him to meet he later on after the kids were asleep.
Soon music was playing and some of the children no knowing what to do would follow and copy others at first before making up their own dance moves laughing and smiling the whole time.

Nicholas watched as the children seemed to be having a blast. He had never seen them so happy. Acting so normal despite everything. Things were going to be ok and the kids were going to make it in this world. He was going to make sure of that. He watched and imagined what life is going to be like once every child has a home of their own. He figured he would keep this place open and let it be a home for any unwanted child. He was quite happy with this place. Granted it was no 5 star hotel but it made the kids happy. He was curious though to what Kat wanted to do with him later.

Keita had organised a few games which she'd looked up and got everyone to join in such as pass the parcel and other party games so everyone could have fun. The party went on all day with keita ducking into the kitchen to prepare dinner near the end and eventually got them all to settle down and eat up their dinner before the youngest of them headed to bed tired but smiling happily. It did take a while but soon enough most of the children were in bed and Keita got to work organising everything once again making sure Nick was distracted with putting the children to bed she hadn't and her dinner, none of the adults had since they'd been so busy. Looking to Rebecca she smiled "Thank for helping me with all of this" she said to her and the twins Fred and Eric. She put on a fairly casual dress for a change shifting slightly and made sure the table was set and ready in the room she'd prepared it in earlier on. Keita then went to find him. "Nick can you come with me when your ready?" she asked him sounding a little nervous.

Nicholas put all the kids to bed with a smile and then when to see if anyone else needed any help. Rebecca and the twins kept him out of the kitchen for some reason. He crossed his arms and then went to checked on the kids one last time. Making sure all the bars he made for the younger ones were doing their job. He then went to see what Kat wanted to show him. He honestly did not like people being sneaky around him. It was not enough to anger him but it was enough to make him worry.

She blindfolded him again and lead him by holding his hands, taking him to where she'd set up the table she smiled, there were candles on the snow white cloth that covered the restaurant like able that she'd managed to find. The chairs had built in cushions and were comfortable with their velvet red coloured fabric making them it look like they had come from a restaurant. "Surprise" she said softly and took his blindfold off. "It's a dinner date…well of sorts" she shifted a bit nervously. She looked to him waiting for his reaction"sorry I know you don't like people being sneaky but I wanted to surpass you and because of the recent problems we can't go out I thought we could still do it here" she said

Nicholas looks around at everything that Kat has done for him. It was an actual dinner date. Something normal couples did. He smiles and kisses her softly. "It looks great. There's no need to be so nervous. There's nothing that you can do that would make me think less of you. No one's ever done anything like this for me. And now we actually get to do some things that are normal." He sits down at the table and looks at the meal that she had made. "Couples have dinner dates at home all the time." He was trying to show her that it was okay and that he loved her idea. It made him to feel like they were officially dating and officially a couple.

Keita relaxed and kissed him back before sitting down to eat "It was hard to keep it a secret as well, I had to get the other to help me with preparations and cooking" she said to him "and I just wasn't sure how you'd react is all" she said to him smiling "it's even harder with that link of ours, which reminds me I owe the children some tarts tomorrow" she said. She'd been getting the children to distract him while she would get things prepared and ready. The dinner she'd prepared was a dish she'd had before plenty of times in her previous job and it was rather popular but a simple dish, steak, she'd prepared some dessert as well for them both. "Want a drink?" she asked, Keita had also asked Fred and Eric if they'd act as waiters, she'd made them all dinner as well to pay them back for it. When they did get drinks it was some wine she'd hidden sipping a little of the drink. the flickering candle lights reflecting in her eyes as she began to enjoy the dinner more now she'd completely calmed down.

Nicholas smiles some and says, "Well you did a wonderful job." He was doing his best to keep relaxed. He sips some of his drink but not much. Alcohol abuse ran in his family and that was one of the habits he did not want to pick up. His dad was mean drunk. "Although I would have never figured you to be a dinner date type of girl."

Keita smiled a little, "I wanted to do something special since it's the first time we would've celebrated your birthday in such a long time and I love you. I also know how you wanted to have a date as a normal couple as well so I put this together" she said to him noticing him not touching the drink "Don't worry, it really doesn't have much alcohol in it, tastes more like grape juice if anything" she said softly. "Although I'm never wearing a dress again" she joked with him, but ti really was just something she wasn't used to at all.

Nicholas looks at her with a slight smile. He looked over the dress a moment. "It is a shame. Because you look great in a dress. Although you look great in anything in my opinion." He takes a bite of the food and swallows. "Still can't get use to how great your cooking is. Has mine beat every time." He smiles some and says, "You did a great job. I got to give you props for making the twins into waiters. Never seen them actually behave so well."

Keita blushed a little but smiled "Thanks" pausing a moment "and it wasn't easy I can tell you that" she laughed taking another bite of her dinner and smiling happily "I had a lot of practice over the years, trial and error, just be glad you weren't there dying some of the disasters" she said and sipped her drink again before she took another bite and smiled a little. "I made a dessert as well, it was an experiment so… can't promise how it'll taste" she spoke softly and when they had both finished and had a bit of time to let their dinner settle the dessert, being a peach pie, was brought out. She really did owe the twins for being so well behaved during the whole time and was glad that Nick was enjoying himself as well. After all it was his birthday.
"one more thing" she said to him before she pulled out a music box from under her chair "Remember this? I've always and it, even when I lost my memories, we used to listen to it all the time" she said to him. putting it between them on the table. "Want to dance to it with me later?" she asked, it was small box but the lovely tune was enchanting and never failed to entrance anyone who listened.

Nicholas looks at the music box a moment. That was right. She has always had that. He had made it for her a little bit after they met. He wanted her to have something just in case he died while they were in the lab. She must have been able to take it with her when they escaped. He gently wines it up and lets the music play. He gently takes her hand and guides her to the open floor. He puts one hand on her waist the other in hers. "I think dessert can wait for at least one dance."

Keita nodded and listened to the sweet melody that played, one hand in his and the other resting on his shoulder only then did she really take notes of how much he'd changed over the years, for one he was taller than her now and was just a lot bigger in general than she would've originally thought. Letting him take the lead of the dance she clumsily followed, dancing was not her strong point in the slightest. "When did you learn to dance so well?" she asked him frowning playfully as she looked up to him, her stormy eyes meeting his more gentle ones.

Nicholas look into her eyes as they seem to be a restless storm. That would never change. She was always like that even before the experiments. He kisses her forehead and says, "I was taught by my mother before she died. Just relax Kat the more you fight to be in sync with me, harder it is for you. Just let the music move you. You'll see that it will feel better and you will be able to keep up." He was not making fun of her. She always seem to be like a raging storm always in a rush or trying to be perfect. When the whole time, she was perfect to him. So if she just calm down, she would find herself able to do it better. Not that she really needed to. He found it adorable.

Keita tried to relax and slowly being able to do so as she took a deep breath and let the music take her finding herself able to dance a little better but as usual she was still clumsy "Can you teach me at some point?" she asked him looking up once again. He really was almost like her polar opposite, so calm and laid back, like the warm sunset that she would see each day. She leaned up kissing him gently smiling to herself as she thought of this, partly since it suited him well because he was warm and she enjoyed these small moments they and together or being in his arms when asleep. "You never change, so gentle and calm" she smiled "It's exactly what I love about you" she said softly.

Nicholas smiles some and put her feet on his and dances with her. She could keep up with him this way and be close to him. "I will teach you how to dance but I warn you I don't have any history of teaching dance so I don't know how well I do." He kisses her deeply and dances with her calmly. He was never one to be confident in his ability.

Keita had to kick her shoes off first looking down a little at first before looking up to him "Well it'll be an experience for us both then won't it?" kissing him back just as deeply. "So what do you plan on drawing first?" she asked curiously knowing he would be itching to use the new art supplies he'd been given by them all. "You really did look like you were desperate to use them all earlier on" she giggled and kissed him softly on the lips.

Nicolas smiles some as she brought up the paint supplies he got for his birthday. "Everyday is a new experience with you. That is why I love you." He thinks about what he would draw first for a moment. "I think I will paint a portrait of you. I want to show you how beautiful you are to me no matter what you wear no matter what you do, you are always beautiful. And I know you don't always feel that way about yourself. Which is a shame in itself. Because you are the most beautiful woman I have ever met. And that will never change."
