Angie says, "I suffered from extreme ill nurishment and few other things I can't quite remember. My parents were very poor so they could not afford better food or treatment. Drake's father was a doctor and offered a new treatment at his home." Drake says, "I understand. She is your only child so you want to keep her close."

Listening intently her father nodded and then sighed. "I am glad Drake here fround you then" He chewed his bottom lip looking each of them carefully over wondering what made them so different, something about them was just plain different and he couldnt put his finger on it.

"She is my only child, and I feel so guilty for things not working out with her mother" He sighed. "But I know you will take care of her"

Drake says, “I will take care of her the best I can. My family will watch out for as well.” Angie says, “We all know you have a lot more questions you would like to ask us. But they will have to wait until Brook is allowed to go home.” Drake adds, “We will answer all your questions when Brook is settled back in at home so she can hear it all too.”

Nodding the father sighed and rubbed his temples,. it was clear he hadnt slept much since her accident. He looked her over. "She looks so much better in just the short time you came here" He shook his head.

"Well with her recovery she should be home this weekend, but they still have to test if she can walk, the accident should have not only palarlized her but it should have killed her"

Brook again stirred in her sleep and almost looked as if she was going to open her eyes/.

Drake looks at her a moment and says, “She will be fine. Her legs respond to touch.” He sees her move like she was going to wake up. He says, “We should be getting quieter now. I want to sleep as much as she can. From what Angie has told me neither of you have been sleeping really well. You should go home and rest.”

Brook whimpered and her dad looked her over and held her hand and whispered softly/ "Its okay Brookie we are all here" He softly touched her cheek and soon she was back asleep, the pain meds giving her another dose.

He stood and shook his head. "I will be sleeping in the waiting room, I dont want to be too far from her." He rubbed his face "No I havent been sleeping, my daughter had nightmares and I was worried about something happening to her she would be up at all hours looking out her window and staring at her self, it seemed she knew something was missing"

He nodded to them "I just want a coffee, can you stay with her for a minute I dont want her to be alone in case she wakes up, I think I will just say here"

He left and went down staris for some coffee and Brook woke up a few minutes later "Guys?" She asked talking to all of them. "What going on" Her voice was faint and she was clearly thristy.

Drake looks at her and says, "I just got done talking to your dad. Once we get you home, we are going to talk some more. You are going to listen to the conversation so you know what you are getting into by becoming one of us." Angie gives her a sip of water.

Taking a sip she heard what Drake said and begain choking. "You what?" She said with a bit of anger as much as she could with her coughing and little energy. "Drake you put you and your family in danger" She looked around then began to cry. "You will be taken from me again" She turned to her side refusing to be comforted.

Drake looks at her and says, "If I don't give him some sort of answer to his questions he will make me leave town." Angie says, "We will do what we need to in order to keep you both together and alive." Drake knew her father was determind to keep her happy and safe.

Brook only numbly heard them. Everything was getting too complicated. She knew it would be easier for them all if she had just died in the accident, it would have torn her father apart. so maybe she should have just been normal and not deppressed. She was blaming herself for everything.

She sighed. "I know Angel" She said her voice far away. She was so confused on everything and she had a feeling her father wouldnt take too kindly to what Drake and his family would have to say. "Just please wait until after graduation" She lifed her head up "Please"

Drake looks in her eyes and says, “Alright…” He could see the darkness of her mind was back. Angie sighs and says, “The boy and I going to feed. You two just relax.” She and the twins leave the room calmly. Drake says, “Please don’t shut me out like this. Tell me what is bothering you so badly that you are wishing that you had died in the accident.” His eyes looked like he was going to cry but vampires can’t cry.

Feeling a little relived that they had at least pretened to agree to her request. She just wanted her grad to be unmarred. She watched Angie and the twins leave and shook her head. "I guess they are mad at me again" She chewed her bottom lip as he asked his next question. She made the mistake of looking him in the eyes she saw the look and swallowed hard.

"I am sorry Drake, it was just a fleeting thought" She shook her head. "Look at all the pain I caused, if I hadnt come here, then the elders wouldnt be forcing you to make a choice I know you dont want to make.she closed her eyes trying to stop the tears from coming.

"I dont really want to die, I just thought that it would have been easier."

Drake looks at her and says calmly, "They are not mad and if you were not here with me, I would still be wondering around the earth alone." He looks in her eyes and kisses her neck gently. He then gently nips at her skin to get her mind back on just him.

Although she heard him Brook still couldnt look at him. She was too saddened and upset, nothing would be the same, he knew that she had started to cut again when he was gone, and he knew that she had nearly killed herself, that she had been attacked, no he could never look at her the same way again.

She couldnt help but giggle when he kissed her neck and bit it. "Hey thats no fair, you know my weakness and I dont know yours" She looked him in the eyes for the first time and got lost in them then reached up and went to hug her. "I am sorry my love, I just hate being weak" She nuzzled his neck and bit his neck gently too.

She then suckled on his ear lobe. "Baby did you know that healing me would bring back the memories?"

Drake looks at her with a smile as they hold each other close. He says, "Well to be honest no I did not think me healing you would return your memories. It was lengend to do so but there was no way to know for sure. But I did it anyway. I wanted to make you better again." He strokes her body and kisses her gently. He says calmly, "I love you no matter what."

Brook let his words sink in then thought for a few moments then looked up at him. "Would you have done it if you would have known?" She asked quietly. She was still feeling just a little unsure about herself and everything.

She winced as he stroked her body, she felt ugly and knew that he could feel the scars, did he know what she had done? Of course he did, she couldnt hold anything from him.

"I know you love me Drake, and I know you know that I love you too" She kissed him again and sighed. "I just want to know one more thing" She paused "How did you hear about my accident, on the radieo or did you just know?"

Drake looks at her and says, "I would do anything for you. You should know that by now my love." He could feel every scar she has on her body. He says, "Angie saw it and I felt something bad had happened to you and your father."

"I know my love" Brook whispered softly "I jsut needed to hear it again" She cuddled into himand sighed contently. But when he made his comment she pulled from him and sat up. "What do you mean my father" She looked frightend and her face lost all colour. "What is going to happen to my father?"

She began to shake and her blood pressure began going heywire and alarms begain going off. Nurses rushed in and tried to get her to lay down. "WHat happened?" One asked Drake.

Drake looks at her and then the nurses. He says, "She just needs to relax." He looks at Brook and says, "Your dad is going to be fine." He waits for the nurses to look away to calm her down with his powers.

Seeing the nurses Brook forced herself to lay down. The nurses gave her some meds and took her vitals and then gave a warning look to Drake "She needs to lay still, we dont know how she was healed so quickly so we need to keep an eye on her" Then they left.

Brook turned to Drake she knew what he was doing and reached out and took his hand and squeezed it as her eye lids grew heavier. "I trust you Drake" Was the last thing she said. She did wonder though if he knew who attacked her but she was too relaxed to speak now. She looked almost if she had been hyptotised

Drake kisses her hand gently and says, “You do not need to sleep but I want you to stay relaxed. Your dad is going to be fine. He left the accident with just a few bumps and scrapes. You are the one who took a beating.” He did know who attacked her and he had already dealt with. He killed the wretch before he could try to hurt Brook again.

"I dont want to sleep I want to stay with you" Brook whispered. She looked up at him. She wrinkled her brow. "I dont even remember my dad being in the car" She brought her other hand to her head. "What else have I fogotten?" She looked up at him a bit scared.

"Drake why do I think you know who or what attacked me, who was it?" She needed to know if it was a stranger, or someone that knew that she was alone now and wasnt protected at the time.

Drake says, “Hun you haven’t forgotten anything else.” He sighs at her next statement. “He was just some rapist looking for the next girl he could hurt. But don’t worry he is dead now so he can’t try to hurt you again.” He holds her close to him and says, “No one tries to hurt you and gets away with it.”

Shuddering Brook looked up at him. "Lay with me Drake" She said softly. She wanted to have him close to her. She nodded about the man that had attacked her. She half smiled when he told her that he was dead. "I wasnt the first was I" She kissed him softly and shuddered.

"He didnt touch me though I fought" She said softly almost as if she was scared that if he had raped her Drake would see her as dirty, it wasnt her thought of course, she just wanted to be sure.

She looked up at him with a bit of a twinkle in her eyes when he made his last statement "Hmmm I love how protective you are of me"

Drake lies with her as she asked of him. He says, “My love I have nowhere else I would rather be.” He kisses her tenderly. He says, “Even if he had touched my love, I would still want you as my own. Nothing will ever change that.” He smirks at her last statement and says, “I can’t help it. I am man that protects his woman.”
