A Prince and A...Commoner? MALE CHARACTER NEEDED

Yuki is a young fashion designer who has been working at the Blazing Star fashion company for three years and she enjoys every moment at work. She gets to create beautiful clothes and learning how to improve her skills as a designer. She spends every day while working thinking of when everyone is going to know her name through her fashions. One day her boss Mr. Beget calls her into his office. She comes in shutting the door behind her. “You needed me, Mr. Beget?”

The big jolly man looks at her with a worried expression. He says trying not to sound freaked out, “Natasha Los left the dress she needs for the ball tonight here. Would you mind delivering to her at the palace? It would mean a lot to me.” She smiles and says to him sounding a little nervous, “S-sure Th-thing…” She slowly takes the neatly packed dress, leaves the building, and heads towards the palace in a company car. Mr. Beget calls the security at the palace to let them know he sent someone over to deliver a dress to Natasha Los.

When Yuki gets there to the palace, a gentleman opens the car door for her. She says with a smile, “I have a delivery for Ms. Natasha Los from at the Blazing Star fashion company…” The man smiles and says, “We have been expecting you. I will be taking you to her dressing room.” He walks her inside guiding through the enormous glamor filled halls. He knocks on the dressing room door and says, “Ms. Los your dress is here…” The model opens the door and pulls Yuki into the dressing room. The man goes back to his post at the entrance of the palace.

Natasha Los says looking over Yuki, “You and I are going to switch places.” Yuki looks at her wide eyes. “WHAT!” Nicole looks at her with sad eyes and says, “I really did not want to come here tonight. My boyfriend and I were planning to celebrate our 5th anniversary together tonight…” Yuki looks at her and says sighing, “I’ll do it…” Nicole smiles and helps Yuki into the dress. Yuki looks at herself in the full body mirror and says, “I designed this dress….” Nicole says with a smile, “You have wonderful talent…”

A few minutes later Yuki was being escorted to the ballroom. All the while thinking, “Please don’t trip…Please don’t trip.” She was not used wearing high heels and she did not to fall on her face. As soon as she entered the ballroom, her eyes grew wide. Everyone was wearing colorful outfits that were as bright as the stars. She looks down at light blue kimono like dress and thinks, “My design looks like child’s play compared to those designs.” She goes and stands by the wall trying to stay invisible.

An hour later a bunch of women crowd around someone screaming with giggles. Guards make the women part away from the person. It turns out to be the crowned prince of the kingdom. Yuki thinks, “Should have known it was the prince…after all this ball is for his birthday…WAIT!? WHY IS HE COMING TOWARDS ME???”

[Ekstaze]

Things have almost always gone Thorin's way, not many understood why...well most assumed it was because he was royalty but even those from the immediate family didn't understand how things always worked out for Thorin. He just lived with it and enjoyed the fact that things seemed to go smoothly. Because of the status that he was in Thorin had the best of the best when it came to most things, his father made sure that he was trained in any weapon they had in the kingdom and his mother made sure that he was well mannered and was presentable to the kingdom. Thorin was brought up to be a leader and warrior if need be, he was the first son and one day new king.

Even though he was raised that way Thorin enjoyed going on hunts with his small group of men and not to mention his best companion: Korlis. He had received a baby jaguar when he was just ten years old, he hadn't asked for it but had gotten it because it was the same day that his parent's told him that he would no longer be an only child. That had upset him at first but realizing that he was still the first child he could still get away with things. So he trained Korlis as much as he was trained so that one day he could have someone to always depend on when he needed it.

"Prince Kalvendra? The party will be starting soon" A maid gently knocked on his bedroom door but got no reply from inside the room. She tried one more time but still there was nothing, that was when she started to panic. The girl quickly moved about the castle towards the King and Queen's wing of the castle to inform that the prince was missing. However when she rounded a corner to take the stairs she collided with something "I am terrible sorry" she immediately said and bowed her head "It's alright. I'm sure it was just an accident" the smooth voice called the girls heart as she carefully looked up at the person she had run into. "Prince Kalvendra!" She exclaimed and then dropped her head once more. "I take it that I've worried you. That was not my intentions" "Sir the party will be starting soon and you parent's wanted to meet with you before hand" the maid explained to him and he gently nodded his head. "Thank you for informing. Please let them know that it will be a while before I can speak with them. I have just gotten back from a hunting trip" the maid nodded her head and waited till Thorin walked away before she continued on her way to the King and Queen's chambers.

Thorin strolled through the castle at his own pace and back to his room, he was sure that someone had laid out the appropriate outfit for tonight though he wasn't even sure why he had to dress up for this thing. Wasn't his birthday party? He should be able to wear whatever he wanted. But even thinking that he knew the reason why he had to, even on his own birthday he would have to make sure that he looked well groomed and presentable to everyone present at the party.

Sure enough, as he walked into his room there was his outfit. It wasn't that bad of an outfit, it was just so proper and his royal cape were even laid out for him. Thorin sighed to himself and entered his bathroom. All he could think about was the fact that he was going to be surrounded by the same people and the same girls that fawned over him. Thorin didn't take long in the bathroom, knowing full well that he was already behind schedule since he had gone out on a last minute hunting trip. He didn't bother to do anything with his hair only because he thought it looked better when it was allowed to dry naturally. Thorin dressed in his clothes for the night and clasped his cape in place. He didn't mind the look, especially his cape, the green base went well with his skin tone and the silver accents set off his own eye color. After doing a once over in the mirror he made his way to his parent's chambers. The discussion there was nothing that he hadn't heard before but lucky for him, his parent's kept it short tonight and let him go to the party.

Thorin admired all his guests from the balcony for a little bit, like he as expecting something new to happen tonight. But alas everyone attending tonight were people that he had known most his life. He quietly slipped into the crowd of people so that he wouldn't have to go through the formality of having to be announced to the crowed. This way he would be able to get a better feel of the crowd before they all swarmed him.

That lasted about two minutes as the girls surrounded him quickly, their high pitched voices stung his ears but he put on a smile and gave in to their conversation. Thorin was glad that the guards quickly intervened and helped to get away from the girls. He glanced about the party quickly but his eyes caught something, Thorin looked around once more. There at the back of the party was someone he had never seen before, who could she be? Thorin wanted to know. He made his way through the crowd of people to the young lady "I don't believe we've had the pleasure of meeting"

Yuki was him as he was heading her way and she felt the desire to run. She thinks as she tries to keep her distance from the prince, “I cannot be seen talking to the prince! He has way too many fan girls! Plus I am not really supposed to be here! I could get into so much trouble just being here!” She did not move too far when the prince finally was in front of her. She quickly bows in respect and says to him, “Hello Your Highness…happy birthday.” She was trying to stay calm. “No you and I have not met before. I do not usually come to parties like this…” She keeps her head bowed and says, “I only came here because of work…”

[Ekstaze]

Thorin was a confused by her bow and for how long she held
it, not many people here did that though that was probably because the
attendees were also of high class. He listened to her talk and had a hard time
not laughing to himself but he still couldn’t fully see her face. “Work? A
pretty woman like yourself shouldn’t be working” he told her, not to mention it
was strange. The girl looked barely old enough to even be at his party ‘Must be
one of my father’s friends kid or something’ Thorin thought to himself but he
still couldn’t help the fact that when he had seen her something pulled him to
her. “Are you afraid to look at me?” It wasn’t that he was being mean, Thorin
just really wanted to see her face up close.


“Prince Kalvendra, your father is about to give his speech”
one of Thorin’s personal guards walked up to him and he waved him off. “Yes
yes. I understand, I’ll be just a little longer” with that the guard stepped
away but kept Thorin in his line of sight. He then turned his attention back to
the young lady waiting to see what she was going to do.

[Guest]

Yuki kept her head bowed and says, “Thank you, your highness but some people do need to work. I love my work so I don’t mind much.” She waited until he was speaking to the guard before moving a bit away from him. She could not risk people see her talking to him too closely. She looks at him allowing herself to look straight at him. Her deep icy blue eyes lock on to his. Her matching hair going down to the floor. “I am not afraid to look at you your highness. It is just not my place to look at you. I am a lower class than you. I did not mean to keep you from your duties. I must go anyway.” She tries to hide in the crowd of people. She hides in the crowd just wanting to disappear.

[Ekstaze]

He was right, she was a strange one though very interesting. Thorin would have liked to talk to her more but her words confused him more. She talked like she wasn't used to all of this or that he was too high up for her to even be near. Thorin wanted to know more about her however before he could ask her anything further his guard walked back to him stealing his attention once more and when he looked back, she was gone. "I'm going alright" he told his guard.

There were few people who could dictate what he did and his personal guard was one of them. Thorin made his way through the crowd to the small stage that had been set up in the grand ballroom. There is father and mother were sitting in their thrones waiting for him. "About time you joined us" his father said under his breath when Thorin walked by him and took his own seat next to his father. Thorin however ignored the snide comment from his father and waited. This whole party wasn't truly for his birthday, it was just another excuse for his father to make a political announcement or to make sure he secured things for the kingdom.

"Good evening ladies and gentleman. My wife and I are thrilled with the turn out for our son's 25th birthday and I'm sure he is thankful as well to everyone that showed up. My wife and I would also like to share another bit of news that we have..." His father began his speech and Thorin just sat there trying not to zone out too bad however at the announcement of other news he perked up a bit. "We have decided to make an alliance with the __ kingdom through the marriage of our son" Everyone in the ballroom cheer with some tears for the girls that were there. Thorin jumped to his feet to grab the mic from his father "Excuse me!" Thorin exclaimed as his father took the mic back from him "It's already been decided" "I hope for your sake you are talking about one of my younger brothers"

They both stared each other down then Thorin turned to the audience "I appreciate all who have attended tonight and I hope you have a wonderful rest of the evening" With that Thorin walked off the stage and out of the room. He was not happy about any of this and his father didn't even have the respect to discuss this with him first. "Prince Kalvendra" Thorin heard the voice of his guard who wasn't too far behind him "I don't want to talk about it Beren, just leave me be" Thorin hissed through clenched teeth. "You know I can't do that" "Then just keep your mouth shut" Thorin made his way through the palace and to the horse stables.

Yuki listens calmly to the speech. Her eyes widened a part of the speech. “We have decided to make an alliance with the Charles kingdom through the marriage of our son,” the king said sounding happy about it. However the prince did not. He walked right out of the room with his guard right behind him. She started walking without even realizing it following after him. She thinks, “I should not be doing this! He is a prince!” Still her feet moved on their own accord. She says once she catches up with him, “Your Highness you had no idea about the arranged marriage did you?”

[Ekstaze]

Thorin was having a hard time getting his mind right again, he just couldn't believe that his father would do this to him. He was still young and what did that girl have to offer him. It was just a political marriage and crap in his mind, political marriages didn't last. At least not with his people, they lived too long. Then it hit Thorin, his father was counting on it not lasting so that he could get more land and more power.

He stopped when he heard a female voice, who was brave enough to talk to him right now. Thorin turned around ready to yell at the person but held his tongue, he had to take a deep breath so that he could keep his voice under control "No I did not" Thorin saw Beren come up behind the girl and he held his hand up to stop him from reprimanding the girl. "What's your name?"

[Guest]

Yuki looks at the guard and then the prince. She says, "My name is Yuki. I am sorry your family pulled this on you. I was almost forced into an arranged marriage. I only got out of it because the man found love on his own." She looks at the guard and says, "I assure you sir I will not harm the prince." She looks back at the prince and says, "Maybe if you were to find love on your own it could persuade your parents to drop the arranged marriage. The common people are not stupid. They will see your marriage to this princess as just a power play."

[Ekstaze]

Thorin listened to what she had to say but he knew it wasn't true for him, no matter if he found his own love he would still be forced into this. It was what his father wanted and his father always got what he wanted. "Your words are kind Yuki however things don't work like that for royalty. Even if this marriage is just a power play it will still go through. As long as the kingdom stays in wealth and happiness I have to do everything to keep it that way" Thorin explained to her.

Be royal wasn't as dreamlike that everyone thought, yes he got to do a lot of things that others didn't and got whatever he wanted most of the time but his life was to give up everything for the kingdom. He had duties and responsibilities to attend to, Thorin didn't expect that his father would go this far though. "Would you like to walk with me for a bit Miss Yuki?" Thorin asked, he could use some good company and this girl seemed to understand things that most refused to even see. Beren quickly took a step towards Thorin "Prince Kalvendra do you really think that's the best idea? You must get back to the party and..." Thorin held up his hand once more to his guard "Whether it's a good idea or not I'm going to do it. This party was supposed to be about my birthday, not a political arrangement and if my father has such a problem with how I'm acting then he can talk to me or write a letter or something. But right now I don't care" he told him and Beren bowed his head "yes sir"

Yuki looks at the prince and nodded understanding what he meant. His father was going to get his way no matter what the prince did to change his mind. "I would not going on a walk with you. After all it is your birthday and you deserve to have at least one thing go right. I am happy to be the one to help with that." She looks at the guard as she knew that this kind of thing was strange. She herself was freaking out a little inside.

[Ekstaze]

In truth Thorin wanted to get one of his horses and keep riding anywhere till he forgot about his birthday, maybe not even come back for a few days. He wasn't sure when his father planned to introduce him to his future wife or if they would even meet before the wedding. He had only a short amount of time to figure out how to stop this thing but as Thorin looked into Yuki's eyes he just wanted to let it all go. "Well then since that's settled...how about I show you the palace grounds" Thorin offered up and she held his arm out for her like a gentleman.

Yuki could see the turmoil he was in. Should he stay or run? What could he do to get out of this? Those are same questions she asked herself when she was involved in an arranged marriage. She had to think of a way to make him forget about the marriage even if it was just for a little while. It was no way to spend his birthday. “Well then since that's settled...how about I show you the palace grounds?” The prince offered up and held his arm out for her like a gentleman. She nods slowly blushing slightly and takes his arm letting him lead her around the palace grounds. Once they were a distance away from the party, she began to speak again. “You have a beautiful home, Your Highness. You want for nothing. You get first access to the best care and food. However you are denied the right to so many freedoms. A lot of people do not see that aspect of being a royal. The only reason I do is because I paid attention to history and royal behavior despite me having a low status.” (OOC: I am just hinting at her high education despite her being a commoner and a twist I thought of for later on.)

Thorin showed her everything about the palace that he still enjoyed himself, the gardens were beautiful even at night and then there were the horses and the large fountain behind the palace just before you enter the small forest they had. He stopped at the fountain though, it was a nice place to come and think if you ever needed. "It's just us two so please just call me Thorin" he asked her and just by those few words he could feel the tension come off Beren but he knew that his guard wouldn't say anything.

"So from what I've heard you say tonight I get this feeling that you weren't suppose to be here but you're outfit is beautiful and gives me the impression that you are apart of this crowd. What do you do then if you are not apart of high society?" Thorin would satisfy his curiosity as much as she could before she either ran away from him or his father hunted him down. "I would also like to thank you for understanding my position. Not many can see what royal children actually go through"

Yuki looks at him walking with him calmly enjoying every moment. She sighs calmly at his inquiry about her and says with a smile deciding to say the truth, “Thank you for the compliment on my outfit. I work for Mr. Beget at the Blazing Star fashion company. I designed this dress for one of your guests who happened to be a friend of mine. She had made plans to be with someone tonight but her job made her come here. She is a close friend to my boss so he arranged from me to bring her the dress. When I got it to her, we talked and I ended up changing places with my friend so she could be with a loved one this evening. I was afraid if someone found out I was just a commoner I would get in big trouble.”

[Ekstaze]

So she wasn't suppose to be here but he saw that she did have talent with fashion. Her dress was very lovely and it fit her body so well. It would have been an issue with his father that she was a commoner but Thorin didn't really care, he knew that even commoners were beautiful and smart. Not to mention that some of them could use an opportunity to show how brilliant they could be or useful in a good way. "It's fine with me. Besides it's nice to have someone at this party who doesn't have their head up their ass." Thorin gave her a smile and then turned to look at the fountain. "No one's going to find out"

Yuki smiled back at Thorin and looked at the fountain. She was glad he would stay quiet about her status. “Well no offense but for most people born into money or power, they think they are high and mighty. That everyone else is just dirt beneath their shoe. They forget what this world is really like outside the comfort of their fancy homes.” She looks at the water a moment. “I have struggled for everything I have and because of that they have more value to me. I take every day and enjoy it like it may be my last. Even with my job I find time to remain myself. Granted without some out of the company experience, my designing career will go nowhere fast.”

[Ekstaze]

He was expecting something like that from her but part of him felt like yelling at her and telling her that she didn't know what she was talking about. He understood the fact that now his family could live comfortably but it had taken generations for that to happen. Thorin also knew that even though his father used dirty tactics to secure his position and kingdom that he did everything in his power to make sure the kingdom was well off as well. Thorin reminded himself to take a deep breath before his spoke to her "I never knew there was such a person right here in my father's kingdom. Someone with your brilliance should be in the royal court, then maybe something could get done" Thorin laid a hand on top of her's, mostly because he wanted to know how it felt.

"And that kind of thinking is what will ruin this empire" a strong voice rung out as two men in very formal clothing walked up to the two. Beren wasn't far behind him as he quickly took his place beside Thorin. He got to his feet to face two of his father's guards "I tried to stop them sir" "It's fine Beren" he whispered to his guard and stepped in front of Yuki "Your father has requested that you return to the party immediately and said that he will discuss the marriage with you after the event and if you continue this behavior then there will be consequences." Thorin glared at the two guards and then turned to Beren so that only he could hear him "I want you to stay by Yuki and make sure my father's men don't harass her" "But sir" "I will be fine Beren, I'm sure my father has instructed these two to keep an eye on me so I want you to keep an eye on Yuki" Beren nodded his head and then Thorin turned to Yuki "I enjoyed our chat" Thorin picked up her hand and gave it a kiss then walked up to this father's guards.

The two guards escorted him back inside and to his seat where his own father could keep an eye on him as well as the guards. His father didn't really look at him or say anything to him but Thorin could feel the angry radiate off of him.

Yuki saddens some as Thorin had to leave but she knew he had no choice. She looks at Beren and says, “Did I get him in trouble? I just wanted to make his birthday better.” She slowly walks back to the party and joins the crowd observing what she can about how some of the guests’ outfits were made. Then she overheard a conversation that really caught her attention. A man says, “Leave it to the spoiled prince to run off when things get serious.” Another man says, “Yes what a child. It will be hell when he gets on the throne.” Yuki glares at them and says, “You would run at that kind of news too at his age. It is perfectly normal and he will make a great king. You need to learn some respect.” She glares at them with such a deadly look that they run away from her.

[Ekstaze]

Thorin started to zone out, he really didn't want to be here right now and all the people were just making it worse. Even his own mother hadn't said anything to him but as he took another deep breath he remembered that his mother was under a lot of pressure two. Thorin was going to get to the bottom of this before the night was over and try to change it. He watched the people dance and socialize and he wished that he could just enjoy the night. Dance, drink, eat and meet interesting people or at least get the chance to talk to Yuki some more.

"He is just doing his duty miss" Beren softly told her and kept his place next to the young girl. He did as he always did with the prince, he stayed partially in the shadow but also stayed close to her. He was aware of all the conversations going on but he knew as well as the prince that they could talk all they want, it was just a matter of time till the prince could prove himself to the kingdom.

Yuki saw Thorin and could see he was very unhappy. But how could she change that? If she went any closer to him, she would get pumbled by the guards and get hurt. She goes over to Beren and gives him a piece of paper. She says to him, “This is my number, please make sure Thorin gets it. He can call me whenever he needs to talk. I have to go…” She disappears quickly into the crowd and makes her way out of the palace. She goes home and removes the dress so she does not ruin it. She lies on her bed and buries her head in her pillow and thinks about the night’s events.

In the middle of scanning the dance floor to look for Yuki again his father finally nudged him so that he would pay attention "there is a young lady wanting to dance with you" Thorin looked at him and then at the girl that walked up to the thrones, so he was allowed to dance with other girls but not walk around with one that he enjoyed talking to. His father glared at him briefly till he got to his feet and took her hand. Thorin would please his father by looking like he was happy and then would excuse himself for the night.

Thorin danced with the girl for a little bit before another one cut in, this went on for a while till he was able to slip free and started to head out of the room. However he only got to the door way before his father's guards stepped in his way "I am retiring for the night so please move" they stood there like they hadn't heard him. 'Trapped in my own home' he thought to himself "We are under strict orders to keep you in the ballroom till the party is over" one of them finally told him and Thorin sighed heavily and went back to his seat. "You can't keep me prisoner here forever" he hissed to his father and then Beren leaned into his ear range "From Miss Yuki" Beren handed him a piece of paper and he looked it over quickly before pocketing it. "Until you are king you will do as I say, you've been spoiled too much and it's time that you grow up and tend to your full duties" his father told him with a smile and returned to watching the guests dance.

Yuki spent most of the night sewing up outfits and making sketches in her notebook. She could not get Thorin’s face out of her mind. Was he okay at the party or was he in trouble with his parents? She huffs and starts to draw out detailed outfit for Thorin to wear. She hoped that Beren was able to give the prince her number so he could call her to rant if he wanted.

[Ekstaze]

Thorin dealt with the rest of the night with a forced smile on his face and when the party was over he dropped the act. He turned to his father and glared at him after stripping off his royal cloak "I don't care what you have to say and I don't care what you think I should do." Thorin threw his cloak to the ground "Thorin James Kalvendra! You will start listening and you will be marrying the princess from Charles Kingdom" "Don't think I don't know what you are doing but what you hoped I didn't realize is I am the only prince old enough to marry. So you need me in order to get what you want" Thorin crossed his arms, things were going to get heated now but he also wondered if he would be able to get away with this plan.

His father backed a little only to have a few of his guards step forward to protect him "it's not like I was gonna swing at him" Thorin hissed at the guards and Beren stepped to his side "Alright things are getting a little heated so why don't you two just calm down. My Queen the young ones have been asking for you" Beren told the Queen and she nodded her head saying goodnight and was escorted out of the ballroom. "I'm sure this can be discussed tomorrow rationally so why don't the three of you take the King to his chambers and I will talk with the Prince" there was another few minutes of tension and glaring before the King left.

"Thank you Beren" Throin told him and Beren bowed his head "I wasn't lying Prince, you need to cool off some as well as your father and please try to understand where he's coming from" Thorin was appalled that Beren was saying this. "Don't give me that look. I've been serving your family and personally you for years. I have always done everything in your best interest so please just let it go for now and get some sleep. I'm sure Yuki would like to hear from you" Beren finally said and the Prince did let it go a little bit allowing Beren to take him to his room.

Yuki finally got too sore to sketch and sew anymore. She had made 10 new male outfits and over 20 different design sketches that she cannot bring to life just yet. She lies on her bed and stares up at the ceiling trying to get Thorin out of her head. She says thinking aloud, “He is okay. His parents are going to hurt him for walking away. He is the eldest son and the main heir to the throne. He is okay. What he did was normal.” She turns on her music on her phone. She taps her foot to the beat of the music.
